My daughter had a production here. It was the lion king. One word this Hall presents....Supreme. The hall brings out the glory and talent in anyone that steps on that stage. Such glory.
Always a cool place for a performance. Was here for my Daughters dance recital with Dance Expressions...
I have been to this antique looking theatre many time and always think there productions are show-stopping. With clean bathrooms and friendly staff that always are helpful. During intermission they have food and drinks but nothing can be taken back in theatre so make sure to finish quickly. Parking can be a little tricky for a sold out show I suggest to go by early just to park. The most recent show I went to was rent which I could hear all dialogue clearly even though I was on the highest balcony. More and more people discovering this hidden gem as it is getting harder to get tickets. Defiantly will be back hopefully soon.
Kansas City Music Hall is an older building with great internal architecture. However we dont go to the Music Hall for the architecture. The production of Disneys The Lion King was excellent. I have heard from friends that other productions have also been good. If you want to get a snack, be prepared to pay a very pretty penny and if you are tall take advantage of any break in the production in order to stretch your legs. Over all I had a great experience.
KC Music Hall was an interesting beautiful historical place. On our visit we saw a 1926 movie called Black Pirate accompanied live by an organ player.
You can feel the history, just being in this theatre - which lends a nice ambience to the shows. The theatre itself is showing some signs of wear and tear (missing pieces of the spackle on the ceiling, older seating - not at all surprising for an eighty+ year old building), but it didnt detract from the experience for me, anyway.
This is a wonderful theater. I would say that all the seats are good no matter where you are. We went to see Come From Away and we’re seated quite far back but it did not impact our enjoyment of this wonderful show. Parking is easy in the underground parking across the street.
Beautiful venue, audio was great. We sat up high in the cheap seats, they were a bit snug and uncomfortable by the end of the show. Not much leg room at all for a big guy. By the end of the show I was a bit agitated by the lack of leg room. Would probably see another show their just try to get better seats.
Big place & beautiful
While the audio is not as great as Kauffman, I ♥️ the old theater vibe. Its great that they let you bring drinks during the shows too. I wish the seats were more comfortable. But I still love seeing the musicals there!
Saw Ray Charles and a theater production cant remember if it was Les Mis or Miss Saigon.
Saw Hamilton there... was a fantastic show and the Music Hall itself is always a fun classic venue... just the right size to feel intimate. The lights went out from stormy weather while we were there but the staff was great and they restored the power and finished the show. A great evening!
This place is so cool and definitely has a Great Gatsby sort of feel to it. the staircases and lobby areas are beautiful, but nothing compared to the inside. Doesnt seem to be a bad seat in the house and the sound is great. Beautiful theater and very convenient so close to downtown. Hope to come back for another show soon!
An absolutely immaculate beautiful theater from days gone by. Honestly the only thing I saw in the place that seriously needed updating was the bathrooms. The sound was incredible, we saw the Tedeschi Trucks Band. I would highly recommend.
We are season ticket holders for the Broadway series. The seats are so plush and comfortable, which is one of the top reasons I like this venue. Ive never had a criticism about any of the audio or visual, no matter the production. Also I live that you dont have to bring a sweater like you do at a movie theater.
The Music Hall is great. Ive seen Hamilton and the Lion King here. Seats are arranged well so you can generally see around the people in front of you. Sound is good. They could stand to have more bathrooms because there is always a line, but that is typical with live theatre.
Beautiful old building. Parking is within an easy walk and all underground so really cuts out the cold and wind. Parking does cost. Acoustics are phenomenal. I have seen multiple shows here from children to men and women and really have not struggled to hear or understand them no matter where I have been seated. Even the super ‘top of the building’ seats offer good views once the lights are dimmed and you are pulled into the show. Female bathrooms are clean if wholly inadequate for the sheer number of attendees. However, they are well staffed which helps keep the lines moving by letting those in line know when to move. Concessions are not cheap; $4/bag of popcorn. However, I attend for the experience and the music-being swept into a different world-for that; this is a spectacular venue. 💖
Book of Mormon was a fun show. The language may offend some people. The talent of the performers was excellent. The venue itself could use a little refreshing, but it is very classical in architecture and style. Staff was helpful. All around a good and enjoyable experience.
Hamilton was fantastic.Good seats, excellent acoustic system. Service was slow at the bar. Did not think we would finish ordering before the doors closed at intermission.
Classic art deco. Friendly and helpful staff. All seats seemed to have good views.
A beautiful historic building, and a great place to watch shows and concerts! The setup is such that all seats have a great view. It could use more/larger bathrooms, but considering the age of the building there are more than expected. There is close parking available, which is also very nice when attending shows in the cold winter months, or during the rainy spring season!
The facility is very nice, the scenery and performers were excellent. My only complaint was that the music during a performance was too loud at times, actually most of the time which made it difficult to hear the actors. Its just my opinion but I feel the music should compliment the actors not compete with them and certainly not overpower their performance.
Easy access from parking garage directly across the street from the main entrance. Saw Miss Saigon Nd it was wonderful.
Tedeschi Trucks Band concert was outstanding. The Music Hall is a great venue for concerts and the like.
A great place to see a play or, enjoy a concert. Every seat has a good view easy access and great accoustics. Parking just outside with handicap access. A reasonable selection of beverages is available to wet your whistle during intermissions.
Love this place. So cool on the inside. Old theater
Beautiful art deco venue. But its age also causes issues. The line for the bathroom at intermission almost made it impossible to get back to my seat for the second act. And I couldnt see part of the stage from my box seat, so be careful when buying tickets. Also, I expected drink prices to be high, but this was even more outrageous than I thought possible.
Beautiful venue, it is an amazing place with great service. Clean and comfortable. I was fortunate enough to watch Hamilton here and it was an incredible experience.
First time here, and very impressed. Great place to see a play.
The door attendants are super strict. Even the performers arent allowed to take a water bottle in. Edit: they did end up allowing drinks in the auditorium, but no food. For clarification, we were there for a dance competition that lasted all day and for a full weekend, hence the reason we would have liked to take food and drinks in to our kids in the dressing rooms.
I went to see the Phantom of the Opera show and it was amazing. I really enjoyed the show and the seats were a good value for the price. We were seated in the Balcony and it didnt distract from the experience. The sound design clearly got up to us without an issue.
Gorgeous art deco building in the heart of downtown Kansas City. Built in the 1930s it has maintained its art deco charm and is a truly gorgeous venue. For the audience the seats are surprisingly comfortable, with plenty of space. Sightlines are good as are acoustics. The only real negatives are parking (next door has a garage) and the bathrooms which are very dated and very small.
Beautiful interior but they should have better signs/ staff instructions. Every person was sent to elevators even if they only needed to go up 1 floor. Half the people in the elevator need floors 1 or 2 but did not realize till we had dropped people off for the 3rd floor
I went here to see Wicked in the fall of 2015. Its not Broadway, and being from NYC, I (of course) compare all performance theaters to Broadway. However, this is a nice theater for a midsized city like KC. The production was really good, and I enjoyed the performance a lot.
Saw several shows here. I think it is the perfect sized venue and beautiful theater.
Loved it! Its fun to see shows there. Every seat is great and the acoustics are perfect.... just plan on walking a lot due to construction on local streets.
Saw Lindsey Stirling here. Excellent venue. Absolutely beautiful. Large enough to hold a crowd, but small enough to feel intimate. In my experience, they were selling drinks in the lobby as you walked in. Beware before you buy--they wont allow any drinks in the auditorium (understandable). It just seemed a little deceptive that they were trying to sell you a $10 drink to gulp down in the lobby. But overall, a great experience. Nice that it was in the Power & Light district--so we were able to go out for a drink and a late night snack when the concert was over.
Great place to watch a show. It does need a face lift though
A beautiful old performing venue. Parking is relatively easy. elevator access is limited and there are a lot of stairs even with main level seats. This venue seems to have intermittent sound problems and it can be hard to hear on the loge level.
They have good performances here but some of the seating is less than desirable. Be careful to get up good tickets.
The music hall has been beautifully renovated. The seats are comfortable and spacious. Staff is helpful and courteous.
We went to see Rent (which was a wonderful show) and enjoyed the event overall. The Music Hall is beautiful, but the seats are narrow and there is very little leg room which make sitting for long periods of time a challenge.
We saw Phantom of the Opera and enjoyed it immensely. The seating in the Music Hall is arranged to that you can see the stage well from anywhere. The building has lovely decorations inside that are decades old and have a wonderful charm. The staff was pleasant and helpful.
Been here once to see Book or Mormon and the theater was nice. The people working were helpful and polite. My only issue is that if you sit up high, the seats arent quite staggered so youre staring directly into the person-in-front-of-yous head and not between two people. Its also slightly difficult if youre short.
Great venue. Bathrooms on every floor. Elevators for handicapped.
It has that art deco feel throughout. Urinals are a highlight.
Great place!!
I love the plays that we see here. The only difficult part can be parking. If there are multiple events it can be horrible. Reserving parking is the best option, but it has to be at least 24 hours in advance.
This place have a wondarful servicentro good for all.
Great play. great seats anywhere in the theater.
I have enjoyed all the shows here.Such a historic place.
I attended the Lion King live performance there in May 2018. The play was excellent as expected, the facility is centrally located. The attendants were great in getting patrons seated. However the concession staff werent as helpful and very unfriendly.
I went and saw Lindsey Stirling in concert here at the Music Hall last night, and I must say I was amazed. The show was fantastic, the facilities were great, and our seats had great views of the stage. The building itself is gorgeous and well maintained and I highly recommend going to see a show here.
Polite and professional. Great stage set up and sound.
Beautiful with great shows. Not parking friendly so give yourself lots of time
Its just a fun place to go to events at.
My daughter loves this place. Shows are a little pricey though.
Good venue. Not enough bathrooms
We were there for Paw Patrol. It was perfect and beautiful! Such a treasure for the area!
I love seeing shows at the Music Hall and my complaint is not with the venue, but with the parking garage. I wish the attendants would do a better job of policing the parking. Every time we go, I’ve paid for parking in advance, but finding a spot is terrible because people take up two spots. Seeing The Lion King this week was the worst I’ve ever seen it. People were parked easily a foot over the line in so many spots. It’s unbelievably frustrating.
Beautiful, historical building. Elevator available. Great view from any seat.
Book of Mormon was fantastic here. And they had reasonably priced alcohol that you could bring in the show with you.
They need to redo seating badly here. There is no room whatsoever I was in pain the whole time I was watching the play
My only complaint are their concession stands. They only have one open and if youre on the 2nd level, you have to go downstairs and stand in long lines - which doesnt makes since to me. The associates who work here were very friendly and helpful.
A great venue as part of the City of Kansas City Municipal Auditorium Complex which is compromised of four venues the main auditorium on the main floor. The arena on the lower level. The little theater on the east side of the atrium and the music hall on the west side of the atrium and all connected to Bartle Hall, Barney Allis Plaza Park, Marriott Hotel, The Hotel Muehlebach through underground passageway and parking garage.
Beautiful place. Easy access and comfortable seating.
Lovely art deco theater with WPA murals and updated accoustics. We saw Hamilton this past weekend and sat in the nosebleed seats, and we still heard the lyrics well.
Classic venue, most seats are good. The acoustics seem good. Not hard to find your seat. Parking can be a bit difficult if there is an event at the Sprint Center on the same night, but it is a short walk.
Great place to visit while youre here in this great City!
Vintage theatre in chicken KC. GREAT for small concerts aand Broadway shows. Intimate setting. Not a bad seat in the house really.
Small, cozy and conducive to performers as well as audiences.
Always a pleasure to visit this grand old facility. So glad it has been preserved.
Love the KC Music Hall & Hamilton was everything I expected & so much more!
We saw Hamilton here and we loved the venue and staff.
Its always a good time going here with my family to see a musical!
]historical beautiful great sound and preformances
Big and spacious. Went for an Easter service. Music was excellent and atmosphere was powerful.
Still a Kansas City staple. This place never gets old. Stunning.
If you are going there to see Hamilton, sit in the center. We sat in Row B Left Orchestra and had an obstructed view. Very upsetting for how much tickets are. I’d have gladly spent more and sat further back in the middle had I known.
Go see Come From Away... So good!!!
I went to see Bethel and loved it. The staff was amazing and the concert was very organized
Attended several events here. Excellent views and sound. Marvelous venue
My fiance and I attended The Phantom of the Opera this past Saturday and, I have got to say, I have never been treated as well as the entire staff treated us that night. We purchased our tickets a month in advance, and two weeks later I tore all of the ligaments in my ankle and have not been able to walk. I went to the Music Hall on a knee scooter, not knowing that there was no way to get it up to the row our seats were in. We were approached by three employees prior to the show asking if they could help and letting me know there was no way to get my scooter up there...one very nice lady even attempted to get us seats that I could easily get to. Unfortunately we ended up having to go up from row L to row T for the show, but they stored my scooter for us and one of the ushers even helped my fiance get me back down the stairs by letting me put my arm around her shoulder and use the two of them as my crutches. I tried to let them know how very much they were all appreciated, but dont feel as though that was enough. My fiance and I felt as though we were surrounded by friends that night with all of them so eager to make sure that I was ok and helping us the way that they did. I will never forget the amazing customer service and friendliness of that entire staff. If you have a chance to go to the Music Hall, please do. Not only was it an amazing show, but just overall a wonderful experience from the second we walked through the door and spoke to the first staff member.
Great venue for concerts and plays, I love the old art deco designs. I think its ashame the City doesnt utilize the Facility as it should.
Ive seen some wonderful shows here.
Big traveling shows if thats your thing. Its not my thing.
Good place to see a concert. Lots of stairs.
Great architecture, comfortable seats and decent restrooms. Loved going get for my daughters dance recital.
Saw The Lion King and the stage and theater worked beautifully for this production! A lot of steps to climb to get to the seats, but there is an elevator.
