Ive had this residential service for 6yrs now. When i first signed up my quarterly bill was a little over $45. I sent $50 electronically each quarter and never received a statement by mail for 3yrs until i got a delinquency notice and they were quick to skip my pickup. It was now close to $55 a quarter. I reset my payment for $60 a quarter. They skipped me this week so i called. They let me know i have more money due next week. I just opened my statement bill is now $70.21. I live on Westnedge and all my neighbors use the competition. They told me to put my trash back out and its still out there full, pick up was 2 days ago.
First time going to recycling drop off. Honestly the worst recycling center I have been to. Very confusing when driving up, poor signage. No one helped me at the window when I pulled up so I just drove right to the recycling area. Again, very poor signage as to where each item goes. I had a lot of cardboard, but there was no opening I could find to put it into the bin, so had to leave it sitting there.
Great place to drop off a trailer load of trash. Very friendly, convenient, and low cost. Drop off area is usually clean, swept and free off nails.
They cashed a check of my payment but wont reflect it on my account. Been dealing with this for 3 or 4 weeks. I do not recommend their services. Still battling with this issue even though i have the bank statement to prove it. I have 100 % payment history on my credit score and their customer service sucks
Hold time is typically 30-45min. Enrolled in bill pay, they werent taking payment out, I was charged with late fee. This company does not respond to emails, or phone calls. The drivers are awesome, the business dept is trash.
First, I believe this is my 21st year as a customer. Second, I am incredibly frustrated with my current service. In the last 2 months, my Friday pick-up has been missed multiple times. In December, they actually missed me house two weeks in a row. This past Friday, they were on my street and only missed my house. Since it is a Friday pick-up, they often dont correct their mistake until Monday, Tuesday, or possibly Wednesday.As a long time customer who is getting terrible service, you would think they would expedite my missed pick-up. Unfortunately, they do not.On one occasion, I had to attempt a call multiple times because I was put on hold for more than 15 minutes each time.It appears Best Way may be the better option.UPDATE: 4 hours after I sent an email to the address provided, still no response.I called first thing this morning requesting a supervisor call me, no response 8 hours later. I wish I could bill you for the hours I have been on hold.
Im a little confused about pricing for the trash drop off.We went one day with a heavier load in a SUV and it was $11 and some change. Today we show up in a truck but overall it weighed as a lighter load and it was a flat $20? How do you determine pricing? Why was our lighter amount of trash more expensive? This screams they dont have a pricing policy or employees might be pocketing the change (paid cash)? Pricing is not clear anywhere on their site.The overall drop off is clean and I am not too scared about popping a tire with a nail when pulling into a bay.Edit a month later: also weird that the owner answers all reviews but then happened to skip my suspicions of pricing conflicts.
We have had excellent customer service for our commercial account and needs. Republics representative, Alexander Silber, has been nothing but great in responding to our needs for special pickups, service requests, and billing matters. Mr. Silber has been quick to respond. His word has been gold! We are Happy to work with him and have him recognize our years as a customer of Repub,lic Services.
I had Republic Services for 4 years. During that time my quarterly bill increased from $63 to over $125. A 100% increase in price. I finally decided it was time to switch because I could pay HALF my prevailing cost (again). The most frustrating part has actually been the cancelation of my services. Despite turning off auto-pay and canceling my services in mid December they still charged my card $125 in January, TWICE. Once I was issued a refund and the second time it was adjusted to reflect the container removal fees and refund the service costs. I was still charged 2/3 of the quarterly Fuel surcharge (normally $30) and a $6 administrative charge for them to come out and take away their own containers which also costs $30 each. So, after being significantly overcharged for the last few years it ended up costing me $84 just to get rid of them. That alone is more than it cost for a entire quarter of service and to have my new containers delivered to me. I dont write negative reviews for sport but this has been beyond frustrating.
Very nice clean and didnt take long and was pretty cheap
I live in a duplex and do I have no choice sadly but to use them. In the 7 years I have lived here they have broken multiple bins.Half the time either mine or the duplex next to me has the bin on its side the other half or the time theyre in the middle of the driveway or 10 to 20 feet away from where they were put the night before.I cant speak for best way however I rarely see them out of place or on their sides. Not saying it never does but much less common.

I have had their service for over 20 years. When I started, their prices were competitive at approx. $35 a quarter. Over time, they added surcharges that eventually brought my bill up to over $90! I researched the other providers and called them to complain. I got a special rate of about $30. ( Then I also got a notice I that I hadnt paid the full bill and they added about $35 in late fees.) When that deal expired, I got a competitive rate. In the last YEAR they have raised my service by $19.50!Dont know if this meets the definition of bait and switch but it is close.Edit: I may have a small number of shares in the company. And my review stands.
I cancelled this service before its April renewal. Two weeks later I got a past due notice from their Collections Department. I got that worked out and they admitted they were wrong. Then they wanted $47.13 for the container pick up. They claimed they had to send out some one to pick it up. But they had me put it out for the route driver that did the usual Friday pick up. They asked if I wanted to pay on the phone. What? Using my credit card with no invoice. They said theyd mail it but it would likely be considered a late payment. This is my fault? Im joining with the other people on this list and recommending Best Way.
Quoted service fees do not remotely match invoice, service fees increase as much as $20 per billing cycle, all around awful service and if you leave they hit you with additional fees. When I terminated service over the phone I was told any additional fees would be waved, now Im being asked to pay them and service reps are telling me theres nothing they can do.
Leaving republic service due to a heavy increase in billing. Last bill was $112 new bill $132.. $20 increase for what? Bill has gone up every since I would not sign a contract with them..
If I could give a half star for the local operation teams services Southwest MI I would.. If you ever get a missed pickup and call to have it picked up chances are they will continue to cancel your pick-ups until your next weekly pickup. Somehow they think this is ok and with the current season being fall it is important that I have the room to continue picking up leafs before the weather turns, in this great state of MI. Escalations never seem to reach the decision makers and if they are, shame on them.
-5 Stars This place is not a real trash place they just collect payments and from time to time you may get your trash picked up. They love to consistently play the blame game on each other for the failures and breakdowns up their system. Im sure they will respond to this review with please contact and sorry for the inconvenience. Thats the same story theyve been saying for the last two years weve had service. Excuses dont get my trash picked up or get anything resolved. Your best bet is to pick up everyones trash that has Republic Services on it, especially in this time of the pandemic.
Republic Services is a dishonest operation! We are seasonal customers set to automatically begin on April 1 each season. Our bill arrived in late April and we paid for both April and May. Today is May 21st and to date not one pickup. We thought that perhaps they would start on May 1st, but that didnt happen either. Today we called Republic, to cancel our service and ask for a refund. We were told since we did not call each week that we were not picked up, we are not entitled to a refund. Totally wrong! We felt that an interruption and service might be caused by the coved-19 pandemic. We were trying to be patient while they worked out the kinks.We were told that because we did not call each week, we are not entitled to a refund! Totally wrong! We are now being charged $30 (when and if) they they pick up the container!We are going to file a complaint with a Better Business Bureau. Charging us for a service that they never provided is simply dishonest.
Missed pickup LAME excuses Monday 11-11-2019 was bad weather so pickup was delayed. I get that, no problem. Tuesday - weather better - school in secession - roads cleared. Still no pickup. Called Customer service at 4PM Oh, she said Bad Weather and its late so Ill issue a missed pickup order Wednesday - still no service. Called Customer service at 1PM. Excuse Its bad weather and safety is First. Well, I said, Recycle pickup was on Tuesday and Republic picked up the Recycle sitting next to the garbage. Answer Well have it pickup by this evening. Thursday 8AM its still there. Called Customer Service Oh, she said, Bad Weather itll be picked up by Saturday. Asked for Supervisor. Same answer bad weather Cant talk to local office only the call center 400 miles away.NOTE: Republics local supervisor called me within 1/2 hour of this posting and had a truck pickup container within 1/2 hour. Sudden service. Now if the call center could communicate within the company like this I would never had to post this negative review. ALL IS GOOD NOW.
-5 stars if that was an option! We moved and tried to transfer our service to our new address. What a mess! Were called 10 time trying to straight it out. They send us a bill every month saying we owe more money, they never closed the account for our old address, they change the amount we owe every time. The last lady said we owe $122 quarterly!

No follow through, no pick up, trash still sitting outside of my house, credits not applied to my account, what a MESS. I gave them four, yes FOUR chances to make it right. Switched to Best Way and theyre nearly $30 cheaper per quarter!!!

I would give them 0 stars if I could. They quoted me one price for a year, I paid it, then they raised the price repeatedly and began denying that I had paid in full. Horrible company.
We have been with republic for over 3 years. First, when we moved, they made it super easy. Then, even though we had extra stuff from the move, the driver went above and beyond taking it all for a few weeks.We just put together a swing set that had tons of boxes. I cut them up in small squares, bundled them and put them right next to the recycling bin, but they didnt pick it up. However, the driver for republic saw the neat bundle, and he took it instead of just leaving it.With all the other negative reviews, I thought it is needed to be said that our Portage driver is great. He also always waives to my 2 year old too!
Twice as expensive as anyone else. Shady pick up fees and no ability to return your own equipment. Do yourself a favor and choose any other option.

Absolutely horrible customer service. Deceptive pricing. Within 2 years our quarterly bill had gone up by more than $10, all in random fees. I’ve been waiting more than a month for a refund after I cancelled my service. They’ve also left a container on our property for more than 2 years that was left from a previous resident; after several calls and emails, it’s still here. I recommend avoiding doing business with this company.
Didnt pick up on my scheduled day, was assured they would come on Friday, its Saturday still no pick up. My trash is overflowing!!
Republic was price gouging me. They were charging me $150 per quarter!!!! This is residential service. Changed to Best Way for $45 per quarter!!! I know other people using Republic for $49 per quarter. I gave Republic the opportunity to meet Best Ways price and they said they couldnt. Bye bye Republic.
Terribly organized, plenty of missed pickups, outrageous prices, and multiple times theyve half-assedly changed my account number and cancelled my auto pay. Finally, when I cancelled, they left my auto pay turned on and they took a payment for a service I had cancelled.
Ridiculous. I went to transfer my service of two cans to my new house. They told me I would have both cans last Thursday. I called midday to see if they were still on track to which Republic replied, we have until 6 pm to deliver the cans. 6:45 came and no cans. When I called, they told me my scheduled delivery wasnt until Tuesday. When I asked what happened with Thursday, Republic responded that they were sorry I was misinformed by the rep. I asked if the delivery would be delayed because of the holiday and they replied no. I verified this twice with Republic. Tuesday came and went without my cans. On Wednesday, they finally dropped off one can. Its like they dont want my business. Well, I guess they wont get it.
The operator does not always empty the container. Today, my container was left half full.
Just look at all these negative comments. they speak for themselves. why would you even risk doing business with them?

I called to speak to customer service because I received a bill for $65 more (including all these hidden fees!) after I already paid for the WHOLE year. After speaking to a manager, I was told there was nothing anyone can do because our area was surveyed and the price was increased due to the survey. There is no contact so they can choose to send you another bill whenever they would like (even if you already paid for services). When I asked to have my accountclosed, I was told it would be $30 per container ($60 total) for them to pick up their equipment. Who does business like this?? How can they think its okay to treat a customer like this. THIS IS NOT OKAY!!!
Never can reach your service . Yard waste you never pick up about 2 bags a week, when I clean my yard in the spring I accumulated. Lot of yard waste an you have a limited bag as the same thing in the fall I. Prepared Best Way
Consistent service; they have never missed a pick-up. If we forget to put a can out, they call to remind us. Convenient local drop-off for bulkier recycling such as cardboard moving boxes.
Very poor customer service. Having just moved, Ive contacted many different service companies and by far, Republic was the worst. I had to call multiple times and calls would go excessively long (30-45 min) each time. Just to cancel my service and take away my trash container, Ive now had a pick-up scheduled 3 times, after they missed the first 2 times, and Im closing on the house today!That being said, on a weekly basis, they did a decent job with the pickups over the years. Good luck though if you need to call them for anything or make any changes to your account. Make sure you shop around, because prices are surprisingly quite different between the options that you have.
Ive been with them for years with no issues. A month ago they changed my pickup day from Thursdays to Fridays. They have missed every single Friday pickup. Thats four in a row despite daily calls to themIm done with them now. Enough is enough!
Republic has terrible customer service! I WAITED ON HOLD FOR 52 MINUTES to have the representative act like it was no big deal. She confirmed that I have been paying for recycling service for the last 2 years that my township pays for. I asked for credit for the double payment and was flatly denied. I canceled my trash service and she said that they would pick up BOTH my trash and recycling bins. What part of my township pays for my curbside recycling is so difficult to understand? I will keep my recycling bin and my taxes will continue to pay for it only I wont give any more of my money to Republic.
Republic waste service is absolutely hands down the worst trash company ever. They throw trash and recycling all over your yard and leave most of it in yhe can, IF they even pick it up. Thats a huge if because usually they just dont bother picking your trash up. Best Way is better and cheaper! Avoid this terrible company at all costs.

This is a very poor choice for trash service. Within a two month period they missed our trash four times. They do not issue refunds, considering biweekly service adequate, even though we paid for weekly service. Avoid them at all costs.
Tried calling to confirm their pricing and the representative (at a call center somewhere in Indiana) apparently could not figure out where Kalamazoo was. After playing 20 questions the call was conveniently disconnected. I gave up. If you cant contact the company at a local number I have learned it is a very bad sign!
After dealing with Bonnie in person as well as on the phone, I have to say there is never any reason to be treated like this by any service company you pay. She is the most disrespectful customer service agent Ive ever encountered. As the representative of this company she gives them a bad name.I can deal with a simple mistake from time to time, but I cant deal with a call back and message to tell me Im wrong when I have the receipt in hand, with Bonnies signature on it. Dont bother. Save yourself the headache and just dont bother.This should tell you all you need to know about how this company operates. You pay for yard waste removal a full year at a time, but they only pick up yard waste April-November. I canceled my yard waste in late November before the bill in for the following year was due in December. They neglected to cancel the service and charged me for the year anyway. I had to call in 3 separate times spending hours on the phone to get a partial refund, because even though they arent providing a pick up service, apparently the bins sitting in my driveway constitutes enough to prorate my bill. It gets better...I canceled the yw service like I said in late November and upgraded my recycling container for what would have actually been a cost savings of $3 per quarter. They issued me a partial refund eventually for the yw as a supposed credit on the account, but then charged me $30 to pick up the yw bin, $30 to drop off the new recycling bin, and $30 to pick up the old recycling bin. By some magic accounting trick, by canceling my 150ish dollar service for the year I ended up owing them another $22 for the quarter.I am still dealing with this in February from November. I have visited the local billing office, and am on my 8th or 9th call to billing/support (I estimate I have about 10 hours of time in on this). I finally decided to cancel the service to stop the nightmare, and the lady who was trying to help me get the refund for what has already been paid at this point was so confused by what has gone on that she said she would have billing call me in a few days to sort it out.Save yourself the hassle and choose another provider. Their 1.7 star average is too high but a well deserved low rating.

I am speaking to the trash drop off location in Kalamazoo MI.For a trash drop off this place is CLEAN! I have never had a nail in my tire from here.People are A+I empty my dump trailer at this facilitie at least once per month. Priceing is fair. Way cheaper than getting large roll off trash bins.
I dont understand how my bill goes up each month. For the longest it was$ 35 then it went to 45 then 50.50 now its 58.00. Where is these prices coming from aint no extra trash or extra bags.??

Very bad experience. Had this service for years and lately, more often than not, they do not pick up the trash. We call them but the wating time to get your call answered is so long that you give up.
