Corey is an amazing instructor! He helped me out immensely! Great coaching to learn jumps and advanced tricks ! As well as really good at breaking down beginner techniques and keeping his students safe ! Super stoked with all the instruction from Corey, will definitely be back for more π€
Nate Milliron patiently coached my 11 year old son from body dragging all the way till he could ride upwind. He calmly helped him with the fear of 35 mph gusts, waves, rocks, other kite boarders and more. Teaching a youth requires special skills of reading body language, facial expression and having individualized communication strategies. As a parent, I am deeply grateful for everything that Nate offers, especially children, teens and anyone who has fear and trepidation about getting started in this thrilling and exciting sport.
Dont book online (says its updated real time, but its not). Didnt love the administrative side of things but my lesson and instructor were good.
Had lessons with Corey and he was a great instructor! He coached me through body dragging, water start, riding, etc. After my lessons he got me gear at a great price, and continued to give me tips here and there when Iβd see him on the beach
Fantastic Experience! Diana (with Aqua Sports Maui) was a fantastic teacher. Shes extremely capable, level-headed, calm, kind and patient. She breaks down the technique into individual steps, and gives clear explanations. She really made sure I was comfortable with skills before progressing. I really appreciated her coming into the water with me in the beginning. I was very happy with the progress I made with her and highly recommend her as an instructor! Shes an a amazing person and a pretty awesome human, as well. She really made my kiteboarding experience a very positive one.
Michael was a wonderful instructor. There is a lot to learn and he did a great job ensuring that I would learn it all effectively. When I was new he would help out with a few simple tasks so I could focus on learning / practicing the task at hand (hes get my board while I keep the kite stable, etc). As I progressed he had me doing more and more on my own until I was fully independent. Trusting the process is essential. Theres a lot to learn before it all comes together. When I finally went out into the water I was well prepared to rescue myself and body drag upwind. The lessons didnt feel rushed at all. He was very patient and encouraged me to take breaks. Michael taught me things during the breaks while trying not to overload me with info. The company let him teach on excellent equipment as well (some of the most expensive, most stable, newest kites on the market). One tip: If you plan on taking 3 days of class, ensure you have extra days in Maui. This sport is obviously extremely dependent on weather / wind so a flexible schedule is a must.
Ive had several lessons with Chuck over the years & cant say enough good things about his professionalism, friendliness, and easy demeanor. Having the headset in the water is a huge added bonus when working through the beginner steps. Aloha Chuck!
I had an excellent experience with 3 x 3 hours lesson with Ken from Aqua Sports recently. This was my first time kite boarding and Ken stayed with me throughout the entire 3 lessons. I progressed to upward body dragging safely and it was heaps of fun. My husband Mark was with an instructor who stayed on the beach and this limited this progress - I highly recommend if you are learning that you ask your instructor to be with you in the water to help get up and riding, however he now has very good control over the kite - it takes time and if you are in Maui I highly recommend Aqua Sports. If its your first time ask for Ken.
I found Aqua Sports Maui Kiteboarding on the Internet.I live in Toronto, Canada and was going to vacation in Maui for 8 days.I emailed Karen and talked to her on the phone. She explained exactly what Aqua Sports could do for me, and the costs involved. It was very easy to find the site and hook up with my instructor FosterWind was light for a few days and Karen kept me posted as to when it would be OK for me to kite.I found Foster, and all the other Aqua Sports instructors very friendly and extremely competent.I had a great time and owe a lot to these folks.I would STRONGLY recommend them
We had a fantastic experience. I called, Karen who got right back to me and paired me with Liam. He was fantastic. Clearly a gifted kiter but he is also a wonderful teacher and that combo is rare to find!
My husband and I sign up for a 3 hour lesson. Ken and Keith were patient, concerned about our safety, and made the lesson very enjoyable. They were wonderful. We are 57 and 61 years young. We took our time, learned to fly the kite, self rescue and the body drag (at least the feel of it). We look forward to coming back for our next lesson!! Thank you Ken and Keith!
Very good kite school. We made great progress and enjoyed everything. They have a nice matching system for instructors, which have worked well for us. All their equipment was very new, with no repairs or patches, and have worked very well. They also sell plenty of used gear from 1 or 2 years ago, and offer a good deal for it.
Lessons with Aqua Sports was the highlight of my Trip to Maui.If you have not tried Kite Boarding, you are missing out on the ride of your life.Karen and her team run a smooth operation. They have decades of experience and help you to learn the skills while gaining the confidence needed to launch into Kite Surfing. If you are a first timer, here are some tips:1. Pick the 3-day option. Most people dont get on their boards till the 2nd day. We choose the 1-day option because we only had a short trip to the island and plan on doing the 5-day next time.2. Dont pull to hard on the bar. The toughest habit for a first timer to break is the tendency to tense up and pull too hard instead of focusing on control.3. Go out on a windy day. The more wind the easier it will be to get started.Overall, Kite Surfing has become my favorite extreme sport. If you go to Maui and dont try it, your life is not complete.
I signed up for a weeks worth of Kiteboarding lessons from Aqua Sports Maui during a vacation in Maui. My instructor was Tim. Tim was one of the best instructors I have had in any sport. Very calm, informative and gave some great information on how to kiteboard. He had a big picture understanding of what I needed to do to get to the next step. He also had a very good understanding of the wind and could tell when I needed to make adjustments to how to fly my kite. I had never kiteboarded before, but was very eager to learn. Tim gave me the opportunity to figure things out. He was eager to see me progress, and I felt I made very quick progress from his tips and instruction. Would highly recommend Aqua Sports Maui and Tim.
I just finished a 5 day, 15 hour kiteboarding lesson with βThekitewizardβ Corey Gallagher. I had a great time and am totally returning for more in the near future. I do feel my lessons were worth the money. Fun, challenging and safe. Karen was very helpful with the bookings, a big thanks to her as well.
Martin was a very nice instructor, taking care of us very carefully. Even though it took us much longer to go (probably, not great wind condition/kite match), we improved our performance. One star the school loose to semi-professional management. My credit card was photographed (insecure! Was the photo deleted afterwards (I got a confirmation the photo was deleted)? Why not get a simple card reading machine (see response below)?), and final charge came a full month after the lessons. The charge was not for amount for a full lesson, and not discussed with me in advance. After the review the school came back to me and made clear this was an unusual incident and it wont happen in the future, thus I upgraded the review.
Awesome Kite School, their instructors are all pro-riders and fully hands on. I was going upwind within 6 days, thank you for providing me with such a smooth intro to such an amazing sport!
Aquasport is my go to recommendation for kite lessons on Maui.I learned there myself 5 years ago when first moved to Maui. My experience was great and since then all my friends learned with aqua sport.Instructors are very professional and friendly. They are international group of people with interesting stories to tell. Need Russian-speaking instructor? Theyve got one!Lessons are structured, tailored to individual skill and progress, with very strong emphasis on safety. Youll be dreaming of self rescue procedure by the end of first lesson.Oh, and if you rip the kite - Karen will be there to fix it.
Best Kiteschool I have seen. Thank you Corey and Karen.
Kite surfing in Maui was an experience ill never forget! 100x better then kitesurfing in new jersey. The people were friendly and made my vacation unforgettable!
Just a question on how much a full kite set costs? I want to get into it!
I came to Maui in 2011 and took lessons from Aqua Sports and have been back every year. This year (2015) I won Lord Of The Wind amateur division and am now taking a foil lesson from the same instructor I had in 2011.
Thank you Karen you guys rock!
Wicked crew! Thank you!
