Warning this guy will allow his personal relationships with his friends interfere with his business. He is still holding onto my highlander ( jointly owned with my uncle, who is a retired cop) and refusing to release it to me just because my uncle said to not give me the car. I am legally an owner to the vehicle and the repairs are already completed and paid for but he is allowing his personal friendship with my uncle to be more of value than his performance in business with his customers. Sad also that MPD wont assist me due to my uncle being a retired cop and their relationships, yet when i called other auto repair shops and inquired what would they do if the situation were the same with their company they all say its illegal and not good business. So now i have to go and file a claim and make a report with DMV for my vehicle back. Another disappointing result of tax payers money wasted paying MPD for no help.

This is the first review i have ever written, ever. I hate dealing with cars and it always gives me anxiety to have to go to a mechanic. But this man and my experience was such a joy that i literally left with a smile and a desire to pay it forward. Would definitely recommend this business to anyone.

Mike and his team are honest and quality work. I had a problem with my ignition, I needed my car for work and fit me in to his busy schedule. Turned around job in a couple hours. Ill give them my business every time.

Small shop near our house. Initial conversation was a bit odd but Mikes a nice guy. Did safety check quickly need appointment. Park your car in the middle of the drive so you dont need to move it for photos. $25 cash $30 credit.

I took my truck in with a rough idle. Mikes was able to diagnose and fix it in one day. They were highly recommended and now I see why. They are honest fast and charge fair prices. When I need a mechanic, I know where Ill be going again. Update: It has been a couple months and the truck is still running great! Thanks Mike!

I have an out of state area code so they wouldnt answer my calls. They had no voicemail so I couldnt tell them what was going on (my car broke down at night so I had it towed to the nearest mechanic and needed to let them know what was going on.)Told me they needed $1,200 to fix the problem and that didnt seem right to me so I got it towed to another place which they said it would cost just $500. Had to use my boyfriends phone (local area code and hes Hawaiian) just to get them to talk to me!

After reading all the great reviews I decided to go and have my truck looked at. What i appreciated was they diagnosed my issue for free which was very helpful to me.I was quoted almost $700 for a brake job and was bummed that it was so much. One part they quoted me was $175.After talking to someone else and calling the parts shop I found the part for $14 and got it replaced for $20.Super appalled about the difference in their quote versus what it actually cost me to get this taken care of and my truck safely back on the road.I understand business is business but just an fyi to everyone to do your own homework and get other opinions.

The process is painless but thorough. Owner is very down to earth.

Made appt for 8:30 to check an oil leak and pulsating brakes. They did safety checks till 11:30 before looking at my truck. Did a test ride for brakes and looked under my hood for 5 minutes. Just to tell me valve cover leak and need new rotors and pads!?! Asked them if they found any other leaks? They said that’s the highest one, bring it back if it keeps leaking. Thought they would at least inject some dye and look for leaks. I know nothing about cars and even I knew the valve cover was leaking. They tell me they usually do a tune up when they do valve covers. I tell them “you guys just did my tuneup less than a year ago.” All they said was “oh, then you don’t need one.” I wait for THREE hours for them to look at my truck for 5 minutes and tell me something I already knew.Next they don’t even look at my brakes. Only from test drive they tell me I need new brakes and rotors. I tell them “I just changed them two months ago”. They say they have to start from there anyway. I ask them can’t theyjust test the rotors to see if they are warped? They said they don’t have the right machine. I asked them what if it’s not the pads or rotor? They could give an answer. So sad. At least they didn’t charge me for the visit. What a waste of my day. They can’t even do valve gasket cause they have to order one from Toyota or Lexus. I don’t think I’m going back !!

I bring my truck there every time my safety is due. Never had any issues with them, everyone there is friendly and experienced. I also took my truck in to do a transmission fluid change and they were the only shop that could do it because Toyota was backed up and every other shop didnt have the necessary tools to do the job. Definitely recommend Mikes Automotive.

Going to an auto repair facility for the first time can be a daunting experience. I had read several Positive ratings others had posted about their experience with Mikes Auto Repair and decided to give them a try. I was very pleased with the experience from the moment I arrived until my vehicle was done and picked up. Their communication was excellent - just like the services they provided for us. If I could give 10 STARS, I would! I like to take good care of my car and had just moved to the island. When I started asking around about a great auto guy for my car, 3 out of 4 people named Mikes, ( and non of these people knew each other). Well, that was a no brainer. The customer service was, and IS amazing, starting with Alan. He was thorough, helpful and the best service Ive ever had in regards to my toyota. When Alan detected that my car for the situation was still under warranty, he guided me through the process of what to do and that I should take it to the Toyota Dealership, because of the warranty, they will do the labor for free. Without even saying- what a great honest guy! He could have done the work and charged me part and labor. I had no idea I was still under warranty. So his honest, friendly and helpful service will keep me as a customer for life. My housemate used him the next week and she swears her car gets more gas mileage than shes ever gotten and that her car runs smoother than ever. She now raves about Mikes and told her sister too!And I will add, that I had the opportunity to compare the helpfulness with the Toyota Dealership and I disappointedly had quite an experience. What took a few hours of Mikes Shop to detect what was wrong, took Toyota- 3 days. And countless phone calls and not returning my calls and leaving me on hold and not being able to talk to a mechanic who knew what they were talking about- it was frustrating beyond end! I realize Toyota had to go throughout their due diligence and go through all kinds of steps to rule out other rings, etc… but the customer service in getting back to me and explaining things was not what I would expect from a dealership. I would put my car in Mikes Auto and Alans hands, even if I have to wait for an appointment there, he and his mechanics are worth the peace of mind and customer service!
