We have had Bates Exterminating (and Don The Bug Man, our tech) for over 15 years. Don is professional, friendly and knowledgeable. We have him spray our house every 2 months. Very rarely do we have an issue that requires him to come between visits, but if we do, he will come out at no charge. We highly recommend Bates and especially Don.

I called on Tuesday and am still waiting on a call back. For the last 12 months I have been struggling with ants and roaches from the previous tenants that has never been under control while I have used Bates Exterminating. When I called to yet again have a technician come out I was told someone will need to call me back. I would appreciate that call back. Thank you.

This company has the worst customer service. They are contracted through the H O A to service my home, however they only come out once a month if someone calls them. so Im told I have to wait 10 days before someone can come out to service my home for termites and then Im told that I cannot be accommodated any time that day there is a specific time frame that they can come. This company does not care about the convenience of their customers they have a contract so they think home others should accommodate them. Ruth Ann in the office was condescending and dismissive when I explained to her that I work an hour for my home and cannot miss 4 hours from my work day in the morning but can leave early to be there in the afternoon. The only alternative I was offered was to wait 20 days to have someone come out at the end of the month or wait until next month for someone to come out, she said termites are slow moving so its no big deal. When I asked to speak with the owner of the company she refused and said this is as far as it goes as if her decisions are final so I guess she owns the company. If you need any Exterminating services please find another company that actually values your business. This company only cares about their bottom line and their convenience they will not accommodate you in any way. Ive lived in my home over a year and this was my first interaction with them. I would rather pay someone who values my business and my time and work to get my HOA to find another vendor.

We live on the water. When we first heard something moving in our attic we did not believe it could be a rat. We called Bates Exterminating and they came out the same day. Set up bait boxes around my home and educated me about rodents. Bates also had a exclusion and deodorization service that we took advantage of too. Not 5 stars but a 10+. Weirdest, craziest, rudest experience ever. i started service with these people about 5 months ago. told them i had a roach problem. i paid $100 for the first visit. they cleaned under my stove and fridge. said it wasnt too bad and it wouldnt take long to fix. tech said he wasnt going to bait inside but he would outside. i thought that was weird. but what do i know. 5 months later the problem is way worse. i have now put everything in ziplock bags. i bombed the house myself. i have 2 kids and a dog that make this problem easy worse. i call to cancel the sevice because bates is not doing anything but spraying outside. mr bates comes to my house and starts looking for them. says the isnt much left since i bombed. he tells me hes going to stay with me till the problem is fixed. he makes an appt for me 4 days later and tells me i have to be out for 6 hours. i took time off work to get rid of anything i wasnt going to use, cleaned out the cabinets, made arrangements for my 2 kids to be away. my pets would be on the porch and i would be at work. he was supposed to come at 10 and i had to be at work by 10. i realized at 9 that i wouldnt be home to ask him questions about what to do after he left. if i needed to clean anything. i call the company and speak to ruth ann. i asked her if they would be early or right at 10 since i had questions. she said i had this appt for a week why am i trying to change it? i said i just want go speak to mr. bates before i go to work so i know what to do. i aslo saw bugs in my living room dvd player and wanted to tell him because he said he was just going to do the lv rm and bathrm. she calles me back and says he will be there at 9:55 and i can talk to him then. so im frustrated now since that is not enough time for me to get to work and i said that. then i said when he is finished have him call me. she hangs up on me. now im confused. she calles me back and said mr. bates cannot do that and you need to find someone else to do the sevice for me. i was shocked. i waited a min and called back. mr bated then gets on the phone in a rant about me trying to change the appt. then tells me i broke the contract, not sure how, he tells me my house is a disaster and i need to find someone else to do business with hes not interested. he said because i asked what productes he was using and i was asking about cleaning the babys bedding after that i was now a liability. my mind was blown. never been treated like that. totally unprofessional. i should have realized that when he was there the first time telling me about an employee who came to my house before that he had to fire because he wouldnt listen to him. that employee told me his girlfriend needed surgery and mr bates wouldnt give him time off to help her. this company is very unprofessional and only wants your money. they did not help me. unbelievable.

Cannot recommend them based on my recent (within the last 2 weeks or so) experience with them.Paid them to treat my house for termites with a one year warranty with unlimited follow-ups in case of termites showing up again. The initial treatment occurred in December.The following March, my wife and I found several termites and we placed a call for Bates to come and check. Unfortunately, we didnt save a specimen so the worker asked us to save them next time so they could confirm that they were termites. We did so (several found) and on the next visit, the worker took the specimens back to the company where they confirmed that it was termites.We found even more a few days later, saved them and had a worker come out for a third time (now April). This time, he checked around the house to try to determine where they were coming from but was unable to do so. Again a few days after that and called again. This fourth visit went just like the third with them unable to locate where the problem was originating from.Once again, a few days later we started finding even more and called.This 5th visit resulted in them finding exit holes and droppings in one bedroom. It was early May and the worker stated that the droppings were probably old because they had been painted over. Wed had the whole house repainted, inside and out, in the previous October which was two months before the initial treatment. Why this wasnt discovered in December was concerning to us. He was able to apply termiticide to the discovered location and encouraged us to keep calling whenever we found new termites. So we did.This sixth visit (now mid-May) was done by the owner, Mr. Bates as his termite specialist had quit days before. When he first arrived we told him that he had to remove his shoes as we dont allow them in our house. His response was that he doensnt take his shoes off in his own house and wasnt going to take them off to come into ours. I told, quite frankly, that you either take them off or cover them with a shoe cover or he wasnt entering. He, first, started to leave but found a pair of shoe coverings and we allowed him to enter. He wasnt fully prepared for this task as we had to supply him with a butter knife in order for him to lift a baseboard to check underneath it. He didnt have anything with him that could be used for it. Again he injected his termiticide into another area that had evidence of termite activity. This was in the same bedroom as before. He then stated that this chemical was expensive. I took note of this, but it seemed petty since wed paid him $400 to have him control this termite problem.A few days later (late May), my wife found several more termites, but this time one was exiting out of a new hole in another a third area in this same bedroom. I called to have them come out again, but was refused because it was deemed that it wasnt enough termites even though I explained that this one was found exiting that new hole.This led me to conclude that they were finished trying to honor the contract we signed them. I told them that we wouldnt be renewing with them.The end result is that my house, now, has many termites found throughout it (upwards of 100) in just the last 3-4 days and I have contracted with another company to fumigate it.A tremendous waste of time and money to hire Bates to do this. Petty, not very thorough, and with an attitude that is not professional.Another interesting aspect is that they talk like they know a lot about termites, but their work suggests otherwise.
