VERRY UNPROFESSIONAL. Every time I’ve called for parts I’ve been disrespected and the in person experience is even worst. I’ve never been somewhere with customer service as bad as there’s. Would highly recommend avoiding Hess and sons if you actually want to get something accomplished.

Ive been to this place 4 times since moving to Junction City for various vehicle parts. Every phone call is like pulling teeth and the in-person experience is equally deterring. Go to one of the surrounding areas for salvage and scrap metal. Their prices on scrap arent bad, but the service is the worst Ive experienced in any field from any other business.The places in Abilene, Herington, Salina, Soldier, w/e are all very friendly and helpful. Make the drive.

The boys that work in the copper building are horrible if they like you they will give you more pounds than what you brought them and if they dont like you they give you less than what you brought them youre getting ripped off every single time you go there

Excellent service, and fantastic prices! They have quite a high volume yard, with tons of parts cars, and several dozen waiting for intake on my visit. Price for a pulled part was far better than the competitors, and even better when I pulled it myself.I drove 105 miles from Wichita to get my part, had my part same day, and still was cheaper than other dealers wanted just for the part! And I will take that trip again next time they have what I need!

Great visit. Well organized lot, guys at the desk did a great job helping me find what I was after. Got my parts quick and had em ready for me to load up. Like most yards their stuff is 90s and newer but if youre looking for stuff for a newer car theyll either have it or help you find it somewhere else.

The guy’s were courteous and friendly and even gave me a tire for my trailer for free since I had lost the cap on one on the way there. Things that could have been better though are the scale was crowded with engines and only accessible from one side and only long enough to weigh trailer alone not truck and trailer together. The crane to unload you would have been much more helpful if it had a large magnet rather than the claws.

Taken my 2 different cars here twice when they broke down on me and they always helped with the tow and gave a fair price for the weight. Family run business, ive never had a problem with anyone I’ve spoken to!

Never had a bad experience. The guys usually unload my scrap for me which is convenient. I’ve actually bought a car from them for a very good price and it’s still up and running like brand new. My old man has bought a few to many vehicles but hey they’re fairly priced and usually have the parts you need to fix it. If it needs fixin!

Avoid the place at all costs. The driver arrived at 10:30am, they loaded him with the wrong product, then they loaded the driver with the correct product. Driver was out at 5:30pm.They do not communicate with each other. The boss there didnt inform the workers about anything, really rude on the phone. And asked for 500$ to unload the truck even though it was his mistake he didnt inform the workers, he kept trying to switch the blame to the driver who had nothing to do with loading the truck.Avoid this place at all costs. Not worth it.

Went in for a rear bumper on a Ford f150. Price was good and they were willing to work with you, but its on you to go into detail about what you want. The employees are generally amicable. Jake, although he comes off as a bit grumpy is more than competent at his job and bent over backwards to get me my part. If I need a part I will come back again. Outstanding service.

I called looking for a couple of wheels. I live in Manhattan, KS. Lanny answered and must have figured out where I was from his caller ID. He told me his son Jake lived in Manhattan and could bring them to me if I needed. Jake brought them home with him. I put them on and brought the old ones back to Jakes house. They saved me two trips to Junction City without me even having to ask! Great service!

They were super amazing, really efficient, came to our home to pick up the vehicle, and took less than 10 minutes for the whole process. Best way to get rid of an old car!

Had a great experience buying used tires here. The owner was straightforward, no BS. They take credit card. His wife told me where I could get the tires mounted cheaply, saving me a bunch of $$ This is the salvage yard, so no, You’re not going to get the most friendly and warm greetings, but you’re going to get quality stuff from them. Very military friendly. As a female, I often have unpleasant encounters in the auto parts world. The owner, while gruff, did not treat me any different than I feel he would’ve treated male customers. That means an awful lot to me. 10/10, would shop here again.

Very rude. Told brass was $1.00 per pound. Its 1.50. Rip off place. Dont go there. Especially if your female.

Experienced professionals with an excellent inventory. I will definitely inquire about their current inventory before I look elsewhwere. Courteous, respectful, and helped me in a pinch.

Rude people. Prices are high. Not good service at all. Not just once but multiple times. I scrap here and there and occasionally look for parts and Not once do I feel good about going there. I prefer to wait and plan a day to go elsewhere, hours away.

Went there with a friend to look around. Men at the front desk were extremely rude. Told us they didnt want us being a bunch of scavengers and that they didnt want us there. Will never come here for anything again, and will not recommend going here. Would leave 0 stars if I could. Bottom line is professionalism is non existent and their definition of service is garbage.

Bought an used A/C compressor from them, took it to a mechanic shop and they told me that when they cut the lines on the compressor that metal shavings had fallen down into the compressor. The mechanic told me if I was to have them put it on that the shavings would contaminate the A/C system. So I called Hess Shop and told them about it and asked if I could get a refund, they told me that it was bulls**t and then hung up. So now I’m out $80 and have to buy a new compressor from somewhere else. Very displeased. Would of thought they would care a bit more.

Knowledgeable and great to work with! They helped me find what I needed when I didnt even know what that was, I got fixed up and back on the road quickly!

First experience I had to sell them my old truck that was no longer functional, they didnt weigh it they just went off an estimation, then after i requested them to weigh it i got an attitude and a reassurance that they are accurate in the estimation. I then requested them to scrap more valuable metals (copper) first, they refused. I received $100 for my truck.Second experience (unfortunately I am in a tight pinch and dont have time to shop around.) I received horrible customer service over the phone in trying to find 2 wheels, one for a ranger and one for an alero. Almost as if my phone call to grant them business was a nuisance. So i e-mailed a picture of both parts and all the needed info to avoid talking to them on the phone again. Prices for wheels are over priced, could get a brand new part for a competitive price. After this ordeal I will never be doing business with this company. Ill be sure to have a new company in place for such emergencies.

Absolute nightmare. I was going to sell my car for salvage, but ended up selling it to a gentleman that was outside that was a mechanic. The guy since I was very clear though that since I was on Mr. Hesss property that he wanted Mr. Hesss approval that it was okay to buy the car for one of his employees. I explained the situation exactly to Mr. Hess and he said yes to me and my mother. After signing the lease, Mr. Hess sent one of his employees out telling the guy he was now band from the property and called the cops. When the police showed up he didnt even come to speak to them directly about the situation, instead he sent an employee. The employee was nasty about the whole ordeal as well even though there was a verbal agreement that it was okay to sell it. It was obvious that Mr. Hess was just using customers as a way to attack a business rival. DO NOT GO HERE!!!

Guy driving forklift ran into the back of my truck and when I went in to talk to the owner he said that I must have done that on my own

I guess he doesnt have to be nice, so dont expect it.I have been there about 6 times for various parts needs and each time he has been a complete a,$$ toward me. How so?Im not going to go into any detailed version of what he said or how he says things, and if you think you are people-person and are going to go there and charm him to be friendly and kind toward you, forget it. He is fundamentally a rude dick. Why is he so rude? Who knows?! It doesnt matter. The fact remains, he is exactly that.I have made up my mind to NEVER go there again. PLEASE READ!!! one star is way to generous. I give them a negative -10. I dont understand people. I have never been so disrespected and talked down to by anyone like these people did. I left in tears. Anyone that states these people are helpful and friendy are dillutional. When i went in . no hello. Just started demanding things. I told them they really needed to work on their customer service skills. The old man told me if i didnt like it go somewhere else. Told me i couldnt do his job for one day and that all his customers want the red carpet treatment. I stood there in awe i was speechless to what i was hearing. Im begging you please do not give this company the satisfaction of your business. They are taking your money and treating people like garbage. I agree with the above posts. The owner is a ass and that is behing kind. The sons and the woman that work there are helpful. If I need something and see the owner I just do a 180 and walk out. He isnt worth dealing with. Not to mention the prices he personally quotes are outrageous.

Nobodys perfect, but it is how you handle your problems that matters. They sold us a engine that had been apparently been left out in to rain and had water in the cylinders and crank case. Engine was locked up. We spent a day soaking cylinders with trans fluid, pulled oil pan and put bearing inserts in. When asked if they could help us out they said no. I ask for a possible in store creidit on future purchase, was told no that nobody asked for approval to do that. We just will never use this company again.

My family is in the military, and this is where my husband buys his parts and we recycle some of our metals here. They always thank my husband for their service. very nice people!

Worst place Ive ever been to. I ignored the reviews and still went. I regret it, he is racist and rude. Stood there for 30 min as he walked around doing nothing. He then refused to sell me a part because I didnt want to buy the set. Even when I agreed to buy the set he stated he wasnt going to sell it to me. I was polite and said thank you as I stormed out
