My car had a tire issue. Kevin took care of it and did a great job! He fixed my car quickly and I was able to get back on the road within 30 min! I am so grateful for Kevins service. He would be the one to talk to for an honest repair!

Pep Boys Jersey City, NJ (Kennedy Ave) was awesome. We drive a Jaguar and one of the tires developed a bulge in the sidewall. Read that this is extremely dangerous and the tire needs to be replaced immediately. Called the dealership and they said could not get us in for 2 weeks. Called Pep Boys and they said come in. Worked with Julian, Jubilee, and a 3rd person whose name I cannot remember. They called around and found out the only place i could get the tire is from the dealer unless i replaced all four tires. They did not try to pressure me to get four new ones, but instead told me to pressure dealer to get us in and if could not then call them if I wanted to replace all four. Pep Boys did put the spare tire on for us and did it for free! I expected a charge since not buying anything else. I told them I would pay and they were adamant that it was free. Jubilee, Julian, and 3rd person deserve huge amounts of praise for outstanding customer service. Take your car to Pep Boys Jersey City for outstanding service.
Brought my 11 year old car in for engine misfire and check engine light that was on. Initially told that the mechanic that does that work is not in on Thursday and I would have to wait until Friday for the mechanic. If the car was drivable I would have gone elsewhere, but I was stuck. Next day I am told that they can’t get the parts for my car and I would have to wait another day. Saturday I am told that the car still has a misfire that they can’t fix and I should go to the dealer. Also, check engine light is still on. Only cost me $1800 and three days to get my car back in marginally better condition than when I dropped it off.AVOID this place at all costs. They are incompetent, do not do the work that is requested, and are not to be trusted.If I could give them a no star review, I would.
HORRIBLE PLACE. Ordered a tire from tire rack called to reschedule my appointment - girl that kept answering the phone put me on hold for so long. Finally she came back to the phone and she was so so rude. No customer service skills at all. On the way to pick up my tire now and bring it to somewhere else. No wonder the reviews are so bad. Asked for a manager and was told no. What a joke of a business. Will head to mavis instead. Called tire rack customer service to let them know how bad the experience was.
I went here because I needed a oil change. They did the oil change. My car takes synthetic oil. Normally this last me 5,000 miles. I have only put 1,500 miles on my car since my visit at pep boys. Now my light on my car is flashing. Letting me know I need a oil change. These place is absolutely awful! I will never go back and spend my money here. I suggest the same for any other customers. Go somewhere else!!!

I was having Engine light code - P0017 camshaft sensor not responding. After diagnosis of $100 they informed me to get 9 different services and parts that is required in order to resolve all these worth of $1100. Straight said no. Way too much unnecessary up selling. Replaced those sensors at other mechanic $200 and boom engine light gone. Not going here again.

O got a great black friday deal on tires,,buy 2 get 2 free. I called 2 other pep boys locations and they added on extra fees which made the sale pretty much useless. I called this location and spoke to Chris and he was great..I actually got what the sale offered and he did not try to add on extra fees. He was very professional and it got even better when I showed up for my appointment to get the 4 tires installed. Fast and efficient service. I am telling everyone I know to go to this pep boys!!!

Went to Pep Boys to get a new tire fixed on my car. I called and made an appointment over the phone since I already had put the spare donut on my care. I spoke with John over the phone who was very easy to talk to and was able to get me on the books. I arrived to my appointment 30 minutes early and they took me right away. They got my new tire on the car very quickly. It was great service with a smile. There were no up-charges or hidden fees from what I saw online. I will be using Pep Boys in the future for all my car needs and recommend you do so as well. You wont be disappointed.
Front desk lady completely rude never going to this place again
I received service from this location a few months ago and my credit card was incorrectly charged $29 more than it should have been. When I originally went to the store to bring this issue up, the manager told me that I would have to contact Pep Boys accounting. I finally was able to get a hold of Pep boys customer service yesterday because I was constantly put on hold for hours at a time everytime I called and also because I was out of the area for a few months and was told that the store was responsible for the erroneous charge to my credit card. Customer service even told me that they spoke to someone at the store and that the issue would be resolved promptly if I went in person the next business day. Well I went back to the store today and this time they gave me the excuse that because its been months since the transaction, Id only be eligible for a store credit and not a refund to my credit card. This is after I even mentioned that Pep boys customer service told me I would get my money back. When I asked why they cant just do refund to the credit card I was given an excuse of it having been months since the transaction (although Im not sure why that has anything to do with it and last time I was given the excuse that I would need to contact Pep boys customer service). Unfortunately because of this experience from now on I will be going elsewhere for my vehicle service needs.
Whoever is in charge of the online tire orders is such irresponsible. So last week, I went to Pepboys website and purchased 4 tires for my car and scheduled an installation order. I gave my credit card number but they never debited it from my bank (am glad they never debited it from my card. I guess they charge you after they do the tires, which is good). Well, I received a call same day of the appointment and they notified me that the tires havent come yet. I thanked them for notifying me, and they scheduled me an appointment for next week, and they told me that once the tires I ordered arrives, I will receive an email, and they told me it usually takes like 3 days. Well, one week have passed and I called them to verify if my tires arrived, and they told me no, because i didnt pay. Well, I gave my credit card info for a reason, and I have the copy of my order. Anyway, they asked me if I would like to reschedule my order and, of course, this time I said no. There is no excuse for my tires to not arrive. Ok, so why am giving 3 stars instead of 1? Well,1) I can say that Pepboys have good tires, reliable, and really good price!!2) Plus, the person who called me notifying me that my tires have not arrived was responsible to call me and was nice.3) And, they never charged me, which is good, because they never gave me the tires.So am only dissapointed with whoever is in charge with the online orders, which is suppost to get the tires. Or maybe, is the computer system from Pepboys that doesnt let the customer know that the tires are gonna be late. Whichever the case, eight days have passed since I bought the tires and placed the order, and NEVER received my tires so Pepboys employees installs them into my car. Now, I have to go somewhere else.

Bad experience here.. the lady at the front desk was rude and had no idea what was going on with the vehicle. They told me 1.5hrs to start with and then no updates until 3 hrs. When I asked the lady started ranting back as if it was my mistake. Not going back here.
Went to get brakes done and they said it would take two hours. I go back two hours later, no call, and it’s taking another hour. 20 minutes pass, its still in the same spot. Terrible

Set up 8am sat, tires and 2 sensors online. Go to drop truck off, tires not in stock had to have guy go pick them up at 10am.Pick truck up. Tire sensors not reading pressure. Was told will reset in time. Did not reset. . Called told can bring truck in sunday 1 werk later. Guy tells me mechanic with scanner needed only works mon-fri... had to make arrangements to drop truck off Monday and get ride to work... bit of a hassle. But finally worked out.
My cars tire had a nail in it and they fixed it and put the tire back on within minutes. Superb customer service! Would def come back. And just all around good people :)

Ive got a service light on and went to this shop. They told me that i need to change a pipe which goes from fuel tank to the fuel cap with a batch of other details which were shipped from Japan. they charged me 1500$ for that and i had to wait for three weeks to get it done. but after they did their job the light was on again, so i went back to them asking to fix that. they told me that it was some filter. every time they did a fix, i had to drive around 300 miles because the computer was reset. They refused to give my money back and i went to official dealer. He told me that my fuel tank is rusted and leaking, it was covered with fuel leaks all around. I had to replace my fuel tank in another repair shop. so these guys in pep boys could literally burn my car down. i still cant understand for what service those guys charged me. never get back to this shop again

Through the years Ive dealt with this location and never had a problem. I brought my vehicle in two weeks ago. I went in for a repair to my back tire. I was told it had dry rot and would need a new tire. They fixed the tire and told me they didnt have the tire at the store but will have one in the next day. After not hearing from them I called asking for a manager to call me back and no one called back.I purchased a set of tires and the agreement was if you had an issue stop into a Pep boy and you will get service. This is hardly the service I expected. Im a retired vet and Over the years the Pep Boys franchise has done good things with our community. This isnt one of them.

I went in for an oil change at 8am. Keep in mind, the shop had maybe 2 other cars outside at the time I was there. 3 hours go by and Im wondering why its taking so long so I call the shop and the rep on the phone tells me that my vehicle is in the shop right now.An oil change doesnt take 3 hours guys, maybe on a busy day but when no one is there. I get there, I find out that I had received more than an oil change, I didnt want to have any altercation and I was already late for my other appointment so I paid and left.Avoid this place, it wasnt always like this but after looking at other reviews, this started recently in the last few months. Something is up with management and the employees.*Also, when I was paying, they werent going to give me my paperwork. I had to ask for it. Like any normal place, you should look at what was done, then pay. The guy was like, $81 swipe when ready. So I said, Wheres the paperwork? and he said Oh, yeah here you go, no problem, Ill give you a copy after. Thats sketchy.. also, not the correct way business is done. Avoid this place.
Went to get my tires replaced, which should be standard, easy job to do. I get on a highway and the steering wheel starts shaking like crazy. They clearly forgot to balance the tires when they installed them. I had to turn around and go home - just didnt feel safe to drive. I would never go back for anything - if they cant do a simple job like installing tires, why would anyone trust them with anything else.

I purchased a 3 year wheel alignment plan at this store few years ago. When I visited the store after 2 years, I requested them to do wheel alignment. They said they did it, but when I asked for wheel alignment report, they said their printer ran out of ink and they dont have report. I believe they dont do the wheel alignment.

Reason for not accepting car for oil change for the day and moreover when I gave my car for oil change they entered wrong mileage reduced 20k miles on their system and the same showed up car fax. I tried with their corporate and sent some proofs by email but no reply from them... I think the management is changed I am not sure because I am a customer for this location since 2015. I am having issues with management from few months like less than a year or staff changed. I don’t see any old staff...
Awful. Came in for an oil change and was told 30 minutes as there was no line. Great. I go get lunch, come back, wait another 15 minutes, then inquire as to he status.I was told they were working on a tire instead and haven’t even started! What?! She said she’ll tell them to rush...then proceeded to sit down in her chair and did no such thing..,I wait another 30 minutes...not done...45 minutes...not done.No apology whatsoever. Wasted an extra 90 minutes of my day which put my entire day behind schedule.Absolutely avoid.
I had made and appointment with them for my cars tire alignment, balancing and rotation online. Got the e-mail confirming my appointment as well and I arrived on the scheduled time. Upon arriving, the guy at the counter asked me what I was in for? Like any other online booking, I would expect them to find the my order details with my name or confirmation #, however, they find my appointment but it did not show any order details (I have attached a screenshot that shows the order details in my account). After I gave him the order details, he tells me they could not do the wheel alignment as their mechanic was not in. I was disappointed and asked him why my appointment was scheduled and accepted, to which he replies Its not my fault and that I should have called to confirm. Whats the purpose of online bookings then? Not only that, he takes it personally and tells me Take your BMW to BMW. No sense of customer service and rude staff. Will never every use them or Pep boys ever. I was trying them for the first time and will never ever again. I wish I could give less than a star.

I brought my vehicle here because my recently done alignment and balance was never quite right. The guy at the desk was very meh about anything and everything, you could tell he didnt care about his job. I told him what I needed and he didnt seem too happy that it wasnt a money job but rather a warranty job. He lazily took me in, but before I could even finish my sentences he always had an answer against what Id say. In any case, they took the car in and about 2 hours later called me and told me it was done but that they couldnt do anything about the alignment because the machine was broken. Mind you, I could see them working on other alignments on the same machine. Whatever the case, I just took my car and left. Later that day I came to realize they left me a nice surprise on the door of my car. A nice little indentation on it that is small, but noticeable and pretty much impossible to repair in any easy manner.When I took it to the Pep Boys I normally go to in Pine Brook (and the one I shouldve gone to from the beginning) they let me know that they NEVER did the balance because it was completely off and if they DID, they did it horribly wrong.Word to the wise, avoid this place at all costs. Not worth a dime. It will go down just like the one in downtown did.
Never go to this place.On my recent visit I really had bad experience.They took all my car freshners from my dash board glove box.Also my charging cable.And they crossed there limits after i saw my throbe missing.I usually keep it in the back seat in winters.When i asked for explanation they were so mean and made me feel guilty as if i am a cheap person questioning them because i want free stuff from them.I just walked away.But believe me it was really bad experience.How can people be so cheap. I had to wait and waste my whole day for 2 hour job even i had scheduled appointment. Nobody informed me about the status of my car service, estimate and time for completion of job. First i was told that the car will be ready within time frame but even dropping my car at 10 AM i received my car at 6PM and a 3 hour wait at the service station. I missed my other appointment. Whole day for regular service very unprofessional. If they are not able to do job in time someone must inform customer but not a single communication from the representative to inform estimate and estimated time. I dont think I will visit the place again for service. Very Disappointed.One more timeI booked online an 8AM appointment for wheel alignment 2 days before and reached location on time. Representative told me that their machine is out of order and they can not perform alignment. As per representative machine was out of order for a while. At the time of booking appointment i was not notified. Nobody cared to notify me. So For now it is better to check other options before wasting your time. No information available online.
The worst people!! If giving 0 as a star rating was possible, I would have given that to these people. I had my headlight issue where High and low beam stopped working, I went there to have that looked upon, in the night around 8PM. They fit the bulb and then says that there is an electircal cutout, and you will probably have to come tomorrow to have that diagnosed. Later next morning, I went to other local Auto repair shops and after 2 hours of efforts we figured out that there is ground connection missing in my headlights, which doesnt make sense cause earlier it was working. So I guess, you can guess where those ground connections went

I chose 5 starts because this guy Gerald. He help me a lot offer me solutions, and I almost left store if it werent for him. Definitely one of the best place for buy new tires If you can grab a deal. Pepboys should manage their services hours more efficiently and faster.
Online integration.I like that you can buy & schedule online, e.g. batteries, tires, oil changes, brakes, etc! Pricing is also decent if you catch their sales events.Extra selling not all that bad.Sure they try to sell you into more services, but do some research first. You can hold off on pretty much anything for at least a week while investigating. They will rush you into fixes, but you probably need it after some time.Check the quality yourself.As for the staff and service, they are pretty decent. They probably get pressured to rush things, which they did with my flat fixes and I had to return, but they make up for it. Like anything else, its best if you had some knowledge so you are able to check on quality.
Was somewhat hesitant coming here after reading the reviews, but I had a flat tire and needed it fixed fast. Pep Boys is one of the few places open on Sundays. Came in, explained the issue, the guys knew exactly what part I needed and had it fixed quick. Cant really complain. Would definitely go back.

Elvis was the Service manager who took my car key for servicing. After 6 hours, I called him again if car is ready and he informed that Car is ready.After reaching the location, I found the car was in same position as I parked in morning. No change in Miles.I asked Elvis to confirm if wheel alignment is completed. He confirmed that service is completed. When I asked for Paper work, he refused to gave me. After 15 mins of argument he gave me Estimate Work order, but not the service performed on the car.Then I visited other location of Pep Boys based on the discussion with Pep Boys Customer Service representatives. Appointment was booked and went for Wheel Alignment Service. The other location Pep Boys confirmed that there was no service done on my Car by Pep Boys Jersey City.Elvis, is cheating the customer. Please be alert and smart enough to ask questions if the service was performed or not. Ask for paper work.
GREEDY:::I spent $2200 to replace rear shocks, a radiator that does not look new, steering pump, and serpentine belt. My Benz was handed over with a cracked grill and tire well hanging to the side with no antifreeze and a check engine light. By the way, he came back to my car to retrieve his flashlight left in the engine. The Mechanic stated that he didnt know anything about Mercedes electric.This shop kept my car for 9 days! They were 6 days late.I had to call the corporate office to get a price reduction from $2400 to $2200. If you dont have Mercedes Benz Experts stop servicing Mercedes Benzes.

No time management. They keep taking work with no staff. I made appointment at 11:30 AM For breaks and told me it will be done in 1 hr and at 2 PM when I asked they said 35 more. Only go if you got nothing better to do in your life then wait there for hrs.
Just call and the guy could not answer a simple question that another pep boy had answer. He Tells me I have to bring the car in and have it inspected just to tell me the price to change brake pads and I know all of the features of the car. I called multiple mechanics today and they all were able to give me a price except him this guy. Thank god I see he’s ignorant before I bring my car in to let him work on it. I would never go to this location for anything. If you can’t answer simple questions you think I’m going to come in and let you touch my complex BMW, not me

I walked into this PepBoys completely frustrated and they turned my day around! I ended up with a flat tire at work and went to the PepBoys in North Brunswick to get it fixed. I drove home and the next morning it was flat AGAIN! I put on my spare tire for the second time in two days and drove over to this location expecting no consideration for another stores mistake. Not only did they fix my tire in less than 20 minutes, but they gave me a major discount because of the error made by the other store. The individual working the desk was efficient, kind, and took the time to explain to me why the first repair didnt work. I highly recommend this place!!

Car was brought in November 2018 Bc engine light was on. They told me exhaust had to be replaced. I found out they used after market part and whole exhaust wasn’t replaced. Brought back 4 times. District manger gave ok for employee to order correct exhaust. I went to Toyota to get part numbers and diagram to give to employee. Went there this week Bc I was told parts were in. I show up and leave car. Car was there for 5 hours. I got text message stating wrong part was ordered. This business has been giving me the run around since November. Called corporate office and escalated to regional manager. As of yet they take responsibility to fix car but will not order correct parts to do the right job. They are clearing taking advantage of a woman. Do not recommend this business.
DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE!!Ive taken my car there a few times to have work done. I always had to come back to get whatever was done corrected and was told many times that something/part was defective. I was recently in there and was told I needed to get some work done in the $800-$1,000 range.I decided due to my past experience, leeriness of their quality of work and overall trustworthiness to take my car to other shops to get 2nd and 3rd opinions. These were with known and trusted mechanics of mine. I was told at both places that there was nothing wrong and whomever was saying that work needed to be done was lying.This now makes me question all of the other times I have had work done at this particular PepBoys and the $1,000s of dollars spent there.I will NEVER go back there and have already called PepBoys headquarters and the BBB to file a complaint.AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brought my car in a month ago 2004 infiniti. paid almost $1000 for repairs including camshift censor. brought my car in again for different repairs, and their telling me i need a camshift censor, so what did i pay for before? the guy said he doesnt know if it was the right or left. huh? how is none of this on record? not only that, they told me my car would be ready by 6 pm saturday after i brought it in friday 8:30am. they didnt finish and now i have to wait until monday morning to pick up my car when i need oit for work monday. and im suppose to pay $1,100 for these new repairs. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

I don’t suggest pep boys. They repaired my car with agreed price(huge money for old car)and after a week same issue I have faced . Now they saying it will be another huge amount for same thing to repair.So basically if you agree with bargain price, they will make you to come back with another repair to recover money. They fix and create new issue with you car so that they can charge more money.

Lots of issues here, I will never go back. The biggest issue was after buying a new set of tires, I learned that they did not balance any of the tires they mounted. I thought I had major mechanical issues with my car, then I pulled over and noticed there was not even one single weight on any of my wheels. Thanks guys, now I’m on vacation, 800 miles away from home and I need to visit a tire shop in the morning. Dare I even ask if you actually changed my oil like you were paid to do? Just noticed there is no sticker on the windshield, not a good sign!
Worst experience,I have gone there to explain some issue about my engine they never listened and just change oil & filter since my appointment is booked for that. But still the mechanics over there didnt do their job perfectly he just left my car engine cap very loosely and i realized later on after missing my engine cap.They are not professionals, i dont prefer to go for PepBoys next time.
I gave my car for service in early morning 7.10AM. they didnt even touch my car until 6.30 pm and asked me to come on some other day. Worst service center i have ever seen in my life.
Excellent and fast response, the guy at the reception was kind and explained all the options, just dropped my car today for servicing.
Car broke down in Jersey City and had the car towed to Pep Boys (mainly because it was the nearest auto service shop). I worried after reading some negative reviews and was a bit nervous of getting ripped off.NO WAY!!!These guys provided great service and got the car running after installing an inexpensive part at a great price.Thanks Pep Boys !!!
Friendly service but very long waits. Came for tire rotation and told it would be about 45 minutes and took almost 2 hours. The guys at the desk were very friendly but just a long wait
Booked my car in for a service including oil change, fuel filer cleaned, tyre rotation and alignment, brake checking and AC recharge. Left the car at 12.30 I was told it would be ready at 3pm. 5pm comes by, still no phone call. I called and they said the technician that had been working on my car had left for the day and they are not sure what has been done! But I do need new brakes and rotors! F**king terrible way to run a business. Why on earth would I want to return again after that?
Very Negative Experience - Poor Customer ServiceTL:DR I have taken my vehicle into this Pep Boys four times for the same issue - there is still no resolution. The manager is rude and does not respect his customers time.Background: My check engine light turned on so I took it to AutoZone for a free OBD II reading. The suggested repair was to replace one of the oxygen sensors. The AutoZone rep said that they could sell me the parts then and there, but suggested that I take the vehicle in for service.Visit 1: On a Saturday I go to Pep Boys with no appointment to see if they are able to do the repair - I provide the background information on the suggested repair from AutoZone. The manager tells me that they will have to do their own engine code reading before they are able to do any work, but they are not able to do the reading that day. That is okay. I make an appointment for the following Monday (free engine code reading).Visit 2: I arrive 10 minutes early to my appointment and check in with the front desk. The manager tells me that the technician that is supposed to look at my vehicle has already left for the day. I make an appointment the next day for engine diagnostics ($90) at the managers suggestion. I am told that the diagnostic test will take 1-2 hours and that if any issues are found with the oxygen sensors that repairs will take another hour.Visit 3: I take time off of work to get to my appointment. When I check in with the front desk I am told that the technician is out to lunch. When the technician returns I receive my diagnostic test results within 5 minutes. I am asked to pay $90 - the test results are exactly the same as what the free OBD II scan from AutoZone told me. I ask if they are able to complete the suggested repair the same day. No, they will need to order parts. I am quoted for $200 in parts and $300 in labor (2 hours of labor). The manager agrees to waive the diagnostics fee, as my repair will cost $500. I schedule a repair appointment for two weeks out because I have to travel for work.Visit 4: I leave work 2 hours early to make my appointment. After checking in I am re-quoted for the repair. This time I am quoted for $700, I call the manager out and the manager says he will cut me a break, and the quote drops to $530. Forty minutes after checking in I am told that they do not have the parts in-house and cannot complete the repair that day. The manager tells me that he never ordered that parts because he did not think I would show up to the appointment. I express my frustration and the manager becomes very rude and argumentative. I set up an appointment for the next day and ask what is the latest time I can arrive, so that I do not have to miss as much work. The manager says, you can come anytime, the repair will only take 10 minutes. I call him out and say that he quoted me for two hours labor. He backtracks and says that it will only take the technician 10 minutes, but the work that the computer is doing is worth 1 hour and 50 minutes.
They charge me full.and didnt remove old oil .And they just add new oil thats even was not full
My wife took her car here last week for a routine oil change. One week later, the car is leaking oil and had to be towed. Tow truck guy confirms whoever did the oil change did not seal the tank properly. Now were both late for work after dealing with this nonsense. Never going back here obviously. Get it together.
