Dr. Borer has consistently been the only therapist I have wanted to entrust my mental energy to. He is always professional, kind and empathetic. He’s great at helping you keep things in perspective and he genuinely cares about his patients. I have spoken to him at various points in my life and no matter what point I am at or the subject matter, he is always ready to help. I’m incredibly proud of where I am and there is a strong correlation between his therapy & care and me being in a great place. I cannot say enough good things.

Dr. Borer helped me through one of the darkest times in my life, and is continuing to be a great outlet to help me with the hurdles life continues to throw at me. He is incredibly understanding, has an amazing set of views, and always makes sure to help you see the light at the end of the tunnel. I would definitely recommend him as council of you are seeking help. An amazing Dr. as well as a friend - he will help you to find the answers you seek.

He did help me for the little while i met with him. However, he stopped taking me for appointments and that hurt. I still have no idea what happened.

I’ve been in therapy and seen several therapists from early on in my adult life. Marriage and couples therapy, anger management, etc... Matt has helped me obtain the peace I never thought I deserved.

Prompt. Helpful. Understanding. Intelligent. Thinking about it he assisted me with understanding how I feel instead of pushing me to think differently. Helped me when I needed help and gave me space when I needed space and time to figure it all out. Always seems to have at least a quick minute to answer a call. Consulted (non-personally identifiably) with outside professionals to deepen understanding of situations for all parties. Last but not least hes a good, stand-up guy.

Matt has set the bar to the highest in what I would expect from a therapist. Matt is honest, easy to talk with and provides excellent feedback and direction while focusing on his clients long term goals and well being. Helping guide clients to happiness and success in life. He has helped me navigate through difficult and stressful life circumstances. I appreciate his candor humor and friendship. He is the best!! Good for the soul.

I was seeking a gender therapist in Florida and was actually a little nervous searching for the right fit for the first time. I met Matt and will not be looking further. Hes awesome to talk with, I feel understood. Im happy to have the right person to go to when I need someone to help me simplify and work through things. 10/10 highly recommend.

I have been seeing Dr. Borer for years now. Over the years I have never once had a complaint about him and have found that he is consistently professional, kind, and caring. I like that he is not judgmental or stuck up in anyway even though he has an impressive educational background. He’s a cool guy that will help guide you in the right direction or if you just need someone to talk to with zero judgment.

I decided to go to Matt because of his stellar reviews. Ive been working on myself therapeutically for about a decade, but having recently moved to Jax, I needed to find a new therapist who had the basics: competence, professional maturity, and good therapist-patient rapport. In my one meeting with him, Matt lacked all of these.Matt continuously failed to follow up with me as we found a time to meet, which made scheduling with him a challenge. When we finally had an appointment, he showed up late, and he double booked me with another client. Instead of simply apologizing and figuring out a solution, Matt left it to his patient, who gracefully agreed to cancel her appointment so that I could meet. At this point, red flags were going up for me, and it continued to get worse.Matt and I sat down 15 minutes late for our hour-long introductory session. He then spend another 5 minutes explaining that he was bad at scheduling and that he had a new notebook and you see he just switched his calendar out for the new year... Again, at no point did he simply apologize and move on; instead, I found myself trying to empathize with his scheduling problems. Finally, he began our session by asking me about my background, but just a few minutes later he interrupted, taking a cue apparently from something I said, to talk about his political opinions and his personal life. Several times throughout the next half hour I had to listed to him talk about himself in ways that were not remotely relevant to a therapeutic session. He talked about his child, his wife, his career, his office. I especially was surprised by his eagerness to talk about his politics; I did not bring up politics and I reflected that this could easily alienate clients or confuse them. I certainly was wondering what any of this had to do with his work with me as a therapist.Matt let the session run over about 10 minutes, most of which was taken up by the usual details about payment. He did not make clear whether this first meeting was gratis - which about half the therapists I have known do on policy - or whether he expected payment. Had he made that clear, I would have told him I was not interested in pursuing work together, and that I would have rather we part there without payment. However, after a day, he sent an email demanding payment. I did pay, even though I am on a tight budget, since I thought at least one of us should maintain standards of decency.I highly recommend you avoid Matt: if this is typical behavior on his part, I dont believe he should be a therapist, whatever his other qualities may be.

Matt has been an amazing support during my contentious custody battle with my high conflict ex. He helped me to navigate the stress of dealing with the legal system while raising a very young child and to understand the impact personality disorders can bring to the family court arena. Matt is empathetic with a heart for families but also very direct as a therapist, which was invaluable in my situation. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Borer is a very patient, attentive and compassionate therapist. Having never been through any counseling in the past, I was unsure of what to expect through this process. Dr. Borer helped guide me through the most trying and difficult experience I have ever had in my life.He will not always tell you what you want to hear which is good. He is an excellent listener and has the ability to make the experience more as if you are talking with a friend rather than a Dr. Dr. Borer will offer constructive criticism as needed in order to help you work on the things that you need to work out. He will not mince words when necessary either which was very beneficial and productive in my circumstance. If you are in need of help and not sure how to proceed, I cannot express how much I would endorse meeting with Dr. Borer to get the process started. I would highly recommend him to any of my friends and family.

Sometimes situations send red flags our way but thinking we can improve situations we persist and then regret the time wasted as life moves too quickly & added pain is unwarranted baggage that can ripple negativity for decades unchecked.Matt has an amazing intuitive antenna to understand motives and guide people wanting to avoid harm, learn signs and discard garbage if perhaps well intentioned unsuspecting folks step in it ___ boot deep...

I tell all my friends who need a gender therepist to write them a letter or even figure themselves out to go to Dr Borer. He got everything I needed really quickly and courteously, and in a totally judgment-free environment. (Plus he isnt binarist, so enbies and gnc folks are in a safe place too.) Hes super friendly and makes the whole experience very pleasant, as opposed to some other local therapists who make it totally nerve wracking.Im very happy I went to Dr Borer. Im now five months on T and scheduling top surgery, and I wouldnt have been able to do any of it without him!!

Little late (okay /a lot/ late), but I did promise this in return for all his help which seems like an absolutely amazing trade off because I expected to still have to pay for walking in and asking for a psych letter to start T. :D (I am sorry for that btw)AND BOY DO I HOPE THIS IS THE RIGHT PERSON BUT:The office is well decorated, very yellow, and Matt himself is pretty friendly. I didnt get the chance to sit down and have a decent conversation with him, but from what I gathered, in the short time I was there, Id definitely recommend him.He was recommended to me from my doc and if youre in the LGBT community all I can say is... hes worth contacting. It can be awful finding someone whos chill with talking to LGBT youth, let alone helping them out, but he did that much for me and Im very thankful. And to Matt: Thanks. So very much. Im glad you helped me with the opportunity to live my life in a way that reflects who I am inside (ew thats cheesy sorry) without having to jump through a million hoops to get there. It means the world to me given how little time I actually gave you.tl;drLGBT friendly. Chill guy. Cool office.Pls dont be like me and just show up tho.10/10 definitely recommend.
