I had such a wonderful time. The views of the mountains are incredible and being right next to the elk herd was amazing! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the elk and other wildlife. Saw a family of bald eagles which was spectacular. The horses are beautiful and so sweet. I highly recommend doing a sleigh ride of the elk refuge if you are in Jackson!
We got super lucky and it was a bluebird day!! Our sleigh driver was super friendly and quiet knowledgeable and happy to answer all of our questions. Another sleigh driver was carrying a large group of preschoolers so it is very kid-friendly. They do have a bunch of warm wool blankets so you can cover your legs during the ride for the cold.
The views are wonderful. In order to see the elks, you need to come winter time though. Regardless, spectacular place.
We had such a great time! Be sure to dress warm as you are outside for an hour. They provide blankets on the ride which was great for those who might need them. The guides are very knowledgable about the history that surrounds the refuge and the elk! So many fun facts we learned. Plenty of photo ops when we stopped the sleigh to look at the elk, we were allowed to stand up as well.Your guide works for gratuity, so dont forget to bring extra cash! 🏞
This was a perfect little escape. Who doesn’t want a sleigh ride and some history and culture shared. If course the understanding of Elk and the refuge was an added plus. Definitely worth the ticket and experience.
Wonderful experience for our toddler! We have lived here and never had the opportunity to go until this season. The driver was flexible with our sons endless barrage of questions. Also learned a few new facts about the area and the refuge we might not have known otherwise. Horses are well cared for and teams are switched to keep them all safe and healthy. Beautiful views and a great time for our family!
All the information anybody needs or wants. Found the maps weve been looking for and got really good information from the desk!
We had a great, but extremely cold, sleigh ride. Our guide was very personable and knowledgeable. I highly recommend taking a blanket and head covering. It’s already cold, and the wind makes it colder. Fortunately, we were able to see lots of animals on the ride.
Our tour guide was super knowledgeable and friendly. Unfortunately I forgot her name, but the horses Jack and Jill did a great job working, and behaving themselves. We got close enough to the elk that even a cellphone camera and a bad photographer such as myself was able to get some great shots. This is a MUST do if youre in Jackson in the winter. Just bring a blanket and gloves. It is coooooold! 🥶.
We really enjoyed the sleigh ride. We saw so many elk. Definately bring a blanket. Our driver shared tons of information about the area, elk, and the management of the elk feeding.
We had a great time. It was crazy cold so make sure you are layered up. Especially toes and fingers. Our sleigh driver, Maddie Dotinga was wonderful, try to get on her sleigh if you can, but I think we just got the luck of the draw.
The staff are very friendly and informative! We really enjoyed our ride.
Awesome drive in the elf refuge. You can drive in the designated refuge areas, mostly the main road. You can see different animals here if you have the perfect timing. I saw mostly Pronghorn sheep in the afternoon i drove. I wish i was here early in the morning, maybe i have seen more. No entrance fee, rod is gravel, speed is 30 mph. Please watch out for wild life.
It’s pretty amazing to get so close to Elk without having them run off. Enjoyed the time with family, even as we braved the cold.
We had a wonderful tour with Bridger, Belle & Star! Bridger really knew his facts and was excellent with the horses. We loved our time on the refuge!
Our sleigh driver was quite good! Knew his stuff and very entertaining. Well be going back for sure.
Awesome experience getting so close to so many elk, and learning about the species as well as the history of the elk refuge! Bundle up, its very cold in the Jackson Hole Valley in the winter!
The tour was fun and memorable! Becca was funny and informative. Meanwhile, Max was kind. It was a wonderful experience.
Great opportunity to see and learn about the elk and their seasonal habits and how they are attempting to healthily manage their numbers
Great experience, guide was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of great information. The one thing that turned us off was that 6 people out of 10 didn’t wear a mask on the shuttle bus and sleigh.
Great experience and great guide. Super friendly staff and highly knowledgeable!
Awesome trip. Its a must do when visiting Jackson.
We enjoyed our sleigh ride with the National Elk Refuge. Everyone was friendly. I did feel the reminders about showing your appreciation to your guide was a bit too much. Although our guide was knowledgeable we were sitting the farthest away and it was impossible to hear anything he was saying when the sleigh was moving. But it was pretty neat to be out there right in the middle of the herd.
Awesome! One of must sees of this whole region in the winter.
Awesome wranglers, very informative, mostly bumpy ride, worth it
Was show moving. Was informative but I found this tour a bit too slow and not for young people.
It had great views and tons of elk to see.
This place was so much fun to see all the elk kids loved it!!
Very informative people. Very nice!
Everyone should experience it atleast once
Definitely worth the $25 to go out and see the refuge. They provide blankets on the sleigh which definitely help when its brutally cold out. Driver was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Bridger was our guide and was very knowledgeable!
Fantastic experience. Family friendly. Jack & Jill were our beautiful drivers. Educational cruise through the Jackson area. Beautiful view of the tetons. Definite photo opportunities. Dress warm if its brisk!
Super fun tour. You get up close to the elk and the guides are very knowledgeable!
Double H did a terrific job with the sleigh rides and during the experience our driver was super informative and congenial.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff, beautiful, hard working draft horses, warm blankets, cushioned wagons, and skilled drivers. A great value.
It was a nice experience being out on the sleigh, it was really cold even with the blanket on though lol. Saw alot of elk while on the ride. The guide was knowledgeable and funny.
This is such an amazing experience. You learn so much about the elk and can get so close.
Excellent, we had a great guide, the view of the elk was good although it snowed a lot
A must do for everyone! Awesome experience and beautiful animals and scenery 🤙🏻😎
Tons of elk up close. Kids got a great view
Didnt get to go because of the weather and the elk had gone all gone up on the ridge. So instead they gave us a ticket for a future date which I thought was wonderful
Can take close up pictures of the elk. Very informative.
Yes, there was many elk in the area. Much cheaper to stop next to the road binoculars
Website says they are open, we drove six hundred miles and had that planned for the trip and it’s closed! To me that’s false advertisement!!!
Great place
Amazing experience
I learned a lot about the elk there and it was wonderful
Great tour to see Elk up close in the winter.
Will definitely be back to do it again.
Shelby was an excellent driver and was very informative.
Fun ride and up close look at Elk
Beautiful and peaceful
Awesome experience, definitely recommended!
Great trip on a sleigh!
Great experience!!!!
Loved the whole experience
It is amazing!
Didn’t see many refugees here...
Beautiful
Awesome experience
So cool
Really cold
Highly Recommended. Depending on the time of day, waiting times of up to one hour may occur. You can take great pictures and get close to the animals. In addition one learns a lot from the carriage drivers about the Wapitihirsche. We did not regret the visit and would do it again immediately. Caution: it can be very windy, which is very uncomfortable at -15 ° C if you do not have the right clothing.
