I would suggest to avoid this place. According to the doctor during consultation I needed to extract 2 teeth and have couple crowns installed. She try to scare me and push for immediate treatment including extremely expensive implants.According to the second opinion from 2 other specialist I need root canal treatment and cavity treatment. No extractions. Potential, not urgent crown.I have a feeling that they just try to push you for the most expensive treatment without even trying to save your teeth.

I first saw Dr. Vanama 4 years ago. I went primarily for the proximity to where I live. I was so impressed with everything that I made my whole family switch to Discovery Dental. They are very flexible in scheduling and rescheduling. No questions asked. My son is in collage and he always realizes he needs to see the dentist right before he is going back to collage after a vacation. Dr. Vanamas team always finds time to see him. He is very happy with his Invisalign and the attention he got from Dr. Vanama. I love the ambience and their follow up the most. One other thing I have noticed is that Dr. Vanama never stops improving the facility. Every time I go they have some new equipment and new treatment options. Whenever there is an issue with my teeth, Dr. Vanama clearly explains what needs to be done and lets me make the call on what I want to do. Once she advised to fill a cavity. I was not too keen on getting it done since my pain is only when I drink something cold. Three months down the line I had to undergo an emergency root canal for the same issue. I never questioned her judgement after that. Overall I am very happy to have Dr. Vanama as our family dentist. The best dental facility I have ever been to.

Dr. Vanama is a perfectionist. She wants your teeth to be perfect and it shows. Sometimes this quality can take a bit longer but shes willing to do it the right way so you dont have to do something again.Shes found multiple things that past dentists did not but Ive validated as important.I did invisalign with her and it went really well. She corrected a very bad bite that I had and now I dont chew with my front teeth.

Let me start by stating that the work done on my teeth was good, so I have nothing negative to say about that. However, I gave the practice only 2 stars because of a few reasons.1) My very first visit I was there for 2 hours and 45 minutes. I cant exactly tell you why other than having to wait about 30 minutes in between everything they did (X-rays, consultation, etc.).2) Im pretty sure I had to tell the dentist five times I wasnt interested in getting Invisalign. Please stop trying to upsell me.3) The dentist was very short with her staff. I honestly felt bad for them, and it made me uncomfortable.Overall I wouldnt recommend this dentist and would suggest others to look elsewhere, like I have now done.

It took me about 7 months to finish 28 sets of aligners, and now I begin to wear the retainer. Discovery Dental is accommodating with flexible hours and communication by text or call. My experience was not great - the dentist did not greet me with a hello until my third visit. I asked to have things explained thoroughly on their questionaire, however, I needed additional surfaces worked on for one of my molars, and did not learn of this until receiving my bill. Paying more is not an issue, but not explaining this to me prior to doing the work seemed shady at the time.I did not feel that sense of family I was looking for at Discovery Dental, and thus am looking elsewhere.

Ive seen Dr. Vanama at least 4 times now over the past year and she is by far the best dentist I have worked with. My first appointment with her was to correct a terribly done filling by my previous dentist right before I left Virginia to move out here. I was truly impressed by her patience and more importantly, her attention to detail. My appointment was at the end of the day but she didnt let time determine when my teeth were done. She was meticulous about ensuring the fit, comfort, and look were perfect. She also took the time to ask me how I felt and how I thought they looked.As I mentioned, I saw her multiple times afterward. Most recently was this morning to fill in a chip in my front tooth (Ive since stopped eating ice! 🙈) and get two fillings done due to grinding my teeth in my sleep (I now wear a night guard). I couldnt even remember where the chip was, it was so well done! She also genuinely listens to my responses and feedback. When I felt my fillings were hitting, she didnt argue or make an excuse of why I might feel or think that. She instead went back in to smooth it out. She did this multiple times until I felt comfortable.Her staff have also been helpful. There have been a couple times where I had several questions about billing and prices. Instead of getting inpatient with me, and sometimes I did get frustrated, but they were always very willing to break things down further, explain things as specifically as I requested, and polite when I asked for additional information.Ive only had great experiences with Dr. Vanama and her staff! Dr. Vanama and team are awesome as well as providing that little extra nudge as reminders to do all the pertinent dental hygiene requirements. I have never had that fear of the dentist and actually enjoy coming in for a cleaning and review! The staff helps that for my family as well!

I was satisfied with the services of this dental clinic but was extremely disappointed with the responsiveness of the staff. They are very quick when it comes to setting you up for appointments so you can pay for the services in the soonest possible time but when it comes to questions for clarification, it takes a while before they respond. They also falsely advertised promos in their website - telling new customers that theyre eligible to get a gift card, but they never gave me one even though I followed up twice. This clinic didnt feel like a kind of clinic that looks out for your interest - rather it felt to me that they focus too much on getting as much money as possible from its customers.UPDATE AS OF 3/31/19 - Dr. Vanama has sent me an email and has told me that they shipped the previously advertised gift card AFTER I posted my review even after 2 previous attempts of following-up in the past.UPDATE AS OF 4/08/19 - I still havent received the gift card that Dr. Vanama claimed to have mailed and received.

Discovery Dental is great! Very helpful and kind staff. Dr. Vanama is very gentle and understanding with those that are super fond of the dentists office. I would recommend it!
