Coming here was a last minute choice for me because my usual spot was closed for the day. And boy Im glad I came. During my conversation with Chavez I realized quickly that my car would be in good hands.I just drove my range rover home from Nicks and I gotta say it feels like Im driving a new car. I can really feel the difference.Huge thanks to Chavez!
They do quality work. Theyre in the heart of Irvine so youre going to pay a little bit of a premium for convenience and they charge for diagnostics so thats just something you should acknowledge about the location. They always work fast and will get you in quickly which is great but sometimes haste makes waste. If youre getting multiple things done like repairs and an oil change and a headlight replacement some of those items slip through the cracks or Ive gone in to discuss a repair and the mechanic heard my name and ran to get the vehicle which wasnt ready. If you take the time to be clear with everything you want done and are willing to pay a little extra for fast service at a good location than this is a great option.
Nicks Auto Service was able to help my son with a car that was overheating when he came in from out of town to look for an apartment. after a quick diagnosis it was determined that I wanted to scrap the car and Mason Ford the owner was extremely helpful and honest and professional with giving me a accurate price for the car and helping me with the title transfer even though I was in Illinois and he was in California.
Customer service is great. However, not sure if they can be trusted.I took my daughters car in for an issue with a sensor issue. The mechanic told me I needed an oil change. When I asked him how he had determined that I needed an oil change he said the sticker on my car said last oil change was overdue. So I give them that but they should have checked the oil because I did the oil change myself a week earlier. Then they told me the timing belt needed to be replaced because it was cracked and that it would cost $1500 to fix.I took it to my mechanic and he said that he did not recommend changing the belt at 72000 miles. I told him that I had been quoted and informed that the belt was cracked and that I needed him to change it. The next day my mechanic called me and asked if I was sure I wanted it changed. I reminded him I had been told that it was cracked. To make long story short. He said there is no way they could tell it was cracked without taking the car apart and charging for the labor just to check it. Its too much work. So, sad to say I wont be going back. Thats too bad I need a mechanic I can trust to car for my daughters car.
Our daughter had to have our Prius towed unexpectedly in Irvine, and after scrambling to search for a repair place online, we chose Nicks based on the excellent reviews. Despite having an unexpected repair dropped in their lap, Nicks Auto Service provided us with stellar service! Mason was terrific—and he gave me regular updates every step of the way via texts and phone calls. When I mentioned that our Prius was due for a smog test at a STAR facility, he said that—with our permission—they would be happy to take it to a STAR station right down the street and have it done for us! Mason went above and beyond, and it gives us tremendous peace of mind that our daughter will have an honest and reliable place to take our Prius when it needs service or repair. Well definitely be back!
Brandon has been very honest and helpful. I never once felt pressured to do the repairs mentioned even though I knew they were right that it would be needed at some point. The prices were fair and they were able to accurately explain why each repair was recommended. Because of that, I would be happy to go back to have the repairs done there when I am able to afford it. I updated this review from 5 to 4 stars because when I went back a second time one of the technicians tried to overcharge me for a sensor install. After calling him out on it the price was lowered. I was then told that the service would take 30-45 mins max and that I’d be called when it was done but I was never called. When I showed up Brandon was there and he apologized for his teammates.
Wonderful customer service! Above and beyond!!These guys are wonderful!Brought in my old Jeep, they gave me a in depth list of all the upcoming projects and what I should do myself to cut back costs! What mechanic does that!!!I will 100% be back and recommending them to all of my friends/family
The shops mechanic/s are seasoned. I had my A/C compressor changed, oil changed, wheels aligned and leaks stopped for a fair price. Thank you.
Customer service is great and you can rely on them!
Very knowledgeable. I sent them a 97 jeep wrangler as well as a duramax diesel truck and they figured both out and took care of it. Definitely not just swapping parts. They diagnose the true problem and fix it.
Brandons great, good folks for car repairs!
As a female they treated me kindly and did a great job in 3-4 hours as they said. And I didnt want to wait 3-4 hours there. Their price was right at my budget and I didnt have to bargain. I usually dont give 5 stars to any store or shop but their place is clean and odorless and I had an appointment and when I walked in they had their mask on. And they were very nice that they offered free Uber ride to go back home.. Thank you Nicks Auto Service
Brandon and Mark did a top notch job on my Sprinter van! Im just visiting the area and was hoping for an honest shop; very grateful!
Nicks did everything I could ask for.My 80,000 mile 6-cylinder Honda Accord started to run very roughly all-of-a-sudden.I made a phone call and got in to see them without delay. They diagnosed my problem promptly and provided a quote before starting the work. The repair work was completed without delay and had my car back to me on the same day.The price was exactly as quoted. The car ran very smoothly again. The front desk person, the repair person who contacted me with the diagnosis and the owner who stopped to speak with me were all personable and professional.Cant ask for more !
Went out of their way to make sure my car was diagnosed correctly after given my concerns. Honest and effecient.
Nicks, fix your covid protocols. I walked in and both people inside were maskless. I asked the man at the desk to put a mask on and he had to go out to the garage to even find one. Improper ventilation + service job + no masks is a bad recipe. Also, as a side note my stick shift was really grimy after taking my car in. That shows a lack of care to me.
Ive been to Nicks three times with both of my vehicles so far and they have never disappointed me. Today there was a slight misunderstanding on the total cost of all work to be completed. Chavez the manager came and spoke with me regarding the miscommunication and even though I was mistaken on the cost he met me halfway and provided all sorts of assistance. Ultimately I left a happy customer with great service provided. They have been honest and forthcoming with work Ive needed and admittedly told me about work I dont need. Great honest shop that has my service for life. Thanks Chavez and the rest of the Nicks team!
Great local garage that we use for our mechanical needs.
Chavez and the team at Nicks are the best in the business. I have been going to them for about 10 years as, luckily, they are right by my office.Their only repair what is needed, dont try to upsell and their prices are very reasonable and much lower than the dealership.I took in my 5 year old V8 jeep and Chaves let me know that I should trade it in before I started having more problems. That would have been more business for them, but he gave me great advice instead. Now I have a new jeep, got a great trade in value and I will only bring my new car to Chaves and the team at Nicks.
Super nice staff, nice clean shop and my Ford C-Max was repaired right and on time! I will definitely be back!
Nicks Auto was very upfront and honest with their estimate and charge me EXACTLY what the estimated price when I picked up the car. They also went the extra mile to fix a problem to no fault of theirs after Ihad picked up the car and noticed something didnt sound right. They are a TOP NOTCH AUTO SERVICE.....
Great place wish I could give more than five stars. Highly recommended!
A neighbor auto service refer me to this location, highly knowledgeable staff greets and diagnoses right away. No wait time. They let me purchase my own tires and put them on for $50. (mind you: Crevier BMW charge $200.) Great communication between the hours working on the car. Brandon is attentive, has solid work ethic. Ask for him!
These guys were helpful from the get-go. I brought my car in there with what I believed to be a valve train issue. prior to working on my vehicle, they were very honest and at first did not think I would need the valve train adjustment. Chavez was a great mechanic and did a lot of research trying to verify the root of my engine peoblem (shutting off when vehicle was cold) before they pulled the trigger and made me spend money.Ultimately we all decided it was the valve train and they performed the work flawlessly. Very courteous and very professional and fairly priced. Will definitely be going back for more services on my other vehicles.
Nicks was overall a great experience. My car broke down in Irvine and I was towed here last in the day. I live in Hollywood, and there were logistical issues involved in that. Nicks tech Chavez was very helpful and friendly. He provided accurate quotes and fixed what was needed in one business day. AmazingHe also let me know he saw some other stuff I should be concerned about (things I knew I needed to get replaced, namely the clutch), which raised my trust in him even higher. I had him do that repair, too. He was really fast and stuck to his word.I had an issue when I came to pick up the car with their shop being closed 30 minutes earlier than stated online and from their tech, but in the end they made things right and Im satisfied with their customer service.Id recommend Nicks to anyone.
They do good work. They look out for your car. Contact is Brandon. I would recommend the shop.
Ive been using a Shell Station for my oil changes and minor service for about the past 8-9 years (including my previous car - 07 Prius), but found that they were becoming less and less customer service oriented, and less and less competent. The price was always right, but Im finally learning that you get what you pay for. After my last oil change there I discovered, about two weeks after the fact, that a minor oil leak was appearing on my garage floor beneath my car every few days. When I looked under the hood I discovered that the oil cap had not been put back on (amazingly it had not dislodged from the engine block). So, being a AAA member for the past 24+ years I decided to check out what they recommended. I found Nicks Auto Service to be fairly close by to my home, and called to make an appointment. When I arrived I was greeted by name, and was told my car would be taken care of shortly (oil/filter change; 50k service). When Nick (or whoever it was who worked on my car) advised that my car was ready, he also advised that there was something causing my front tires to wear unevenly. I advised that I had recently had my wheels aligned and would have them rotated and would see how it was at my next service. There was no pressure to have anything checked now, only a suggestion - which I appreciated. I will be taking my car back to Nicks for my 55k checkup, and for all other needed services. I have taken my car to Hyundai for service in the past as well, and due to their very high prices I wont be taking it back there. After this one service at Nicks, I highly recommend them.
Ive been a customer at Nicks Auto Service for decades. The routine service is very good. ... but when I need help with something out of the ordinary the help I get from everyone at Nicks is extraordinary. ... super good. Its a 5 star place
I have been going to Nicks Auto Service for standard maintenance/service. Never had a problem with them. They are efficient and professional and charge a fair price. I will continue to go to them for my future service on my Lexus RX350.
Nick worked on my car for a major repair and it turned out fine. I wanted to continue for regular maintenance. But on last regular basic service, Nick decided to add items without my authorization then CHARGED me for it. I let it go and paid it but still very unprofessional. This place is also AAA certified but wont accept any AAA coupons nor discounts. And shuttles offered to/from nearby location is only when they feel like it. And oh, “we only do oil changes in the morning” (when it’s convenient for them, not the customer).Overall, not bad mechanical knowledge, little overpriced, but they need to be more professional and courteous to customers.
New management, Nick was very good, you feel like family. Now, with the Son, Brandon and Chavez, You feel fresh air and warmer service....My car went dead, they took care of me real well. I even enjoyed the free rides with the Uber. Thank you, for all that. Kitty.
My wife was in an accident in Irvine, and we live about 33 miles out. So AAA towed the car here as they are a AAA certified mechanic She requested that it just be repaired enough to be driven, as I do my own work on our cars.First, they told her that they would not be able to look at her car until after the weekend (this was thursday) eh, okay... sure....Friday morning they called her and told her that her tie rod end was broken (this I knew) but that her entire steering rack needed to be replaced because it was leaking, and repairs were going to be $1,900. Now, this is a 2006 camry, car probably isnt worth 1,900 but I digress.I called a mechanic in my area, asked him how much to replace our steering rack... He said $400 out the door.So here comes the fun, the wife called and let them know that we were going to come pick up the car... They started to get weird. Wanted to know why, so she told them we got a better quote. They wanted to know how much, so when she said 400 they thought she meant 400 less than their quote... So now, oh guess what.. well, we could probably go with cheaper parts... and get it down 300-350 less, but just so you know if you take it somewhere else they are probably going to blah blah Trying everything they could to get her to keep it with them.First of all, if you could have done it for cheaper, that should have been stated RIGHT AWAY. Not when we decide to take the car somewhere else.So I get there to pick the car up, and there is no sign of leaking fluid ANYWHERE. Okay, maybe they just put it here? Started the car, still no leaks.Got the car home, lifted it, and found that it had a broken tie rod as they stated... but absolutely NOTHING wrong with the steering rack. No leaks, no noise...What was broken, though, was a lower control arm... which they did not mention. I mean, it was clear as day when I got under the car. So I have a feeling they did not even lift the car to actually inspect it. Or, if they did... they missed a major issue which is equally as bad.So now, they quoted me 1900 to do the steering rack/alignment/tie rod ends. What the car actually needed: inner tie rod, lower control arm, ball joint. What I actually paid an honest mechanic: 150 in parts, 150 in labor. The car is running just as it was before the accident. No issues with the steering rack, no leaking power steering fluid. And the other mechanic actually pulled the dents out on his own, free of charge. Please, be careful of predatory mechanics... These guys saw a woman who was desperate to get her car fixed, and jumped on the opportunity to make a quick buck for very little work. Now, a week later the car is still fine, no leaking power steering fluid, no problems at all with the steering rack. I paid 100 dollars for a diagnosis, and got an incorrect assessment of what was wrong. And had I not intervened, my wife would have paid the 1900 for 300$ worth of work.
Great place! Honest! I have been a client of this auto repair shop for several years and Nick has become a friend and provider for my entire family. Love the family feeling and the reasonable timelines for completing things. I, on occasion have had to bring my car in passing and with no problem they assessed and directed me, on spot!
Nick & Chavez have been working on my cars for 35 years. ALWAYS provides great service and detail on what the future might hold for the car. I have stayed with this shop due to this honesty and fair prices. They deliver what they promise, on time, every time.
Nicks is a great place to bring you vehicle. They offer a variety of services. The team is honest and friendly. I always bring my car here now.
So I really dont like giving businesses 1 star, as I know there are so many people who will over-exaggerate etc and tank a businesses rating. But I called here asking if the were able to diagnose my check engine light, and the person who answered the phone was very blunt and not friendly, and when I asked if theyd be able to diagnose my problem, they said they would have to charge $105 to check the car out. NEVER in my life have I had a mechanic say theyd charge to check the car out. I literally just called The Auto Clinic as well as Tanaka Auto, both of which said they would do it for free and it would be no problem. Between the person operating the phones and the balls to charge for a diagnostic, I will be avoiding this place like the plague.
I had my Tahoe towed over to Nicks the other night to get my fuel pump replaced, just wanted to say that the people that work here are awesome. Its kind of hard today to find a mechanic you can trust and Nick and his team were more than great. Thank you guys
So nice service!
Nicks Auto Service took a good care of my Honda.Honest and professional!
My car wouldn’t start. Had AAA come out and determined it was the alternator. Got my car to Nick’s and they were able to diagnose and fix my car same day at a reasonable price. I went to go pick up my car before they closed and uber had 3 rides cancel. Nick’s son Brandon was very accommodating and stayed late to pass off the keys. Overall great service during a stressful situation.
Best mechanic I have ever had, hands down. Ive been going to Nicks for years and have always been so happy with the service! He is always looking out for my best interests. For example, I purchased a brand new car in 2009, and only a few weeks later had some problems with the windshield fluid leaking. The dealership wanted to charge me hundreds and hundreds of dollars to fix it, saying they had to replace the whole system. I took the car to Nick and he located the problem tube and patched it up, he charged me next to nothing! And there hasnt been a single problem with the windshield system since he fixed it. I recommend Nicks to everyone I know.
Anything but honest! Im one of those people that always go out of my way to support locally owned businesses over the corporate giants, but this time that bit me in the ass.I just bought a new (used) car and took it into Nicks after seeing the good reviews to get a fresh oil change and mechanical inspection done on it ($90 for the inspection). When I arrived to pick it up, the inspection results were provided in a short comma-separated list. When I asked questions about the results (as there was literally no information about them other than the 2 words per issue in the list), the mechanic was using scare tactics to try to motivate me to take care of the issues (e.g. List item - power steering leak, thats literally all it said, and then the mechanic tells me that if I dont get that taken care of asap my car will catch on fire. I realize this fluid is flammable and there is a chance, the odds are so small and I never smell anything baking off the exhaust, this is a gross exaggeration).Anyway, I ask about what itll cost to get a few of the issues resolved and get the response that hell have to go type it up (I swore that was part of an inspection). I deal with it and say okay. I call back a few days later to ask if theyd gotten me the quote I asked for and was told it wasnt ready because theyd been busy. I call back the following week to ask again and they still didnt have it.That was a little over 2 months ago and I still havent heard anything. This sheer laziness also turns me off to ever trusting them with my car even if they finally did get me a quote.TLDR; They lazily put together the inspection results with no detail, try to scare you into getting stuff done, then never actually give you a price after multiple follow-up attempts. Would never recommend anyone trusting this place with their car.
Friendly, competent and efficient people in all stations at Nicks Auto Repair. Willing to listen and take enough time to get a handle on a problem and efficiently handle it. The best treatment I have ever experienced at an auto repair shop
Nick was sincere and pointed out the issue with the alignment. Its hard to find an honest mechanic that knows how to really turn a wrench. If you need help with your car Nicks Auto Service is your go to
Great shop, been here many times with different used cars in the past. Most recently, had a very fast diagnosis done with a idle problem (within the hour). Great service, Nick knows what he is doing.
Extremely clean office very organized environment.Everybody theyre very politeVery Honest
Needed to get my brakes done and Brandon abt the rest of the guys had it ready the same day. Reasonable price, great customer service.
My soon to be wife Mary Gaffney took are 06 mazda 6 to have service done on it all I can say is wow God is in this shop looking over all of the workers and the workers looking out for the custermers this just makes my faith even stronger they also did dealership quality work so thank you nicks auto service. For all you guys do and all that you are. If ever my car needs work you are my go to shop.
Really good customer service. Gets the job done. Will be coming back for maintainence and future mods.
Chavez was so helpful, made me feel welcome, and quickly fixed my blown fuse.
Whoever is answering the phone there is rude. He rushed me off the phone and was clearly too busy to take the time to discuss the matter with me. I will NOT be taking my car here.
Long story short: the steer of my car wasnt working and I had it towed to Nicks Auto Repair that was closest AAA auto repair approved. It is an old car and I told them to let me know how much was the damage. They called me back and says that it was 550 dollars to fix it. I accepted and went the day after to pick up the car. 95 dollars were Diagnose Fee.The same day the engine was steaming hot after just few miles. Brought my car to another auto repair and it turned out that the radiator is blown out too.I called them back, explaning the situation and they told me that the car was ok after they fix it.Stay away, a total ripped off! I paid 550 dollars on an old car and it was broken again the same day I got it back!
Great services, and Nick was really nice. And better than the experiences I had with BMW Dealers.
Bad business! I wish i could give this place 0 stars. I took my car in to get my power steering fixed which cost about $1600! They did their diagnosis which only takes about 90 mins if recall correctly and in 90 mins they claimed that i need new axels and new radiator and i had oil leaks. But I recently had my engine taken apart and there were no oil leaks and my radiator was fine. I took my car because AAA referred me, i wish i had read the reviews first. Dont trust place they just want to take your money.
Excellent and professional service.Kind people and the price is very fair.
Something changed after 2 years and 1/2 with them, so I’m out !!!
They lie customers to make money on them, be careful and check everything they say.
Excellent, as always (even with Nick gone).
Nick and Heidi are very nice honest hard working people
Great place Excellent service
