Successful living is a very wonderful program and they helping me a lot to give me a place to live and theyre helping my psychiatric needs and my appointments I appreciate it and successfully is number one in my book
Love the IPR program
They dont listen to the clients wants and needs, and they treat clients as if they are simply naughty children that need to be dealt with rather than adults with their own thoughts, feelings, and responsibilities. They also seem to assume that every client they deal with is poorly educated and lacking in intelligence, which is quite ableist. Directors make decisions for client care without discussing it with the client, or with the worker assigned to them. Im thinking it might be time for me to move on from this company, as what they say, compared to what they do does not align.Several other people I know that live in the houses describe them as awful, with verbally abusive and neglectful staff. The turn around with staff is common because they overwork them, and choose to under pay people. Money is the main objective for this company.I gave three stars simply because the person I have been working with is a gem.
Changed to 2 stars due to their inability to keep and maintain a consistent schedule during the COVID-19 Pandemic. However, they are great at providing resource information to their clients. I had to fire them due to their instigating my mental disabilities and mental illness. Spent 5 months looking for another SCL. Not a good organization not big enough to handle their case loads.
Team Lead (JE) treats STAFF like CLIENTS; swears he is GOD #notThey hired this SUPPOSEDLY EX COP to help change things and he is such an AZZ until being let go was the best thing ever; because it’s just a matter of time prior to One of the Ex Prisoner snaps on him.Successful Living does not mean toon during interview process YOU WILL BE HAULING PRISONERS; and if you get lucky you may stay employed under $13 an hour which means your life is is danger and it’s simply NOT WORTH IT.This place puts regular civilians in harms way dailyDon’t apply
LMAO. Dont even waste your time here. This place is a complete joke. They require at least a Bachelor’s Degree, yet you’re only going to be paid $11. You’ll constantly be informed that “social workers aren’t in it for the money” well, 1) those people are not and will not ever be classified as social workers; 2) you can literally work anywhere else in this town and make more than $11.Why do you think your turnaround is so high? No adult can make a living off of $700 every 2.5 weeks. The new “housing facilitator” is so rude, it’s not even funny. I’m not quite sure why Pat decided to pull this new position out of her ass, but congrats, I guess.. The homes are a complete joke; they’re disgusting and run down. I wouldn’t send my worst enemy to live there. If you’re looking to be a “supportive community living counselor” I pray you don’t have a nice vehicle whatsoever; have fun letting stinky, disgusting adults ruin it.If youre wanting to be in a social service field - for the love of God, do not work here. No one here appreciates your work; find a place who will.
My time spent at Successful Living hasnt always been easy but what job is easy, right? I adored my clients and my coworkers were always a great support. Just as many other agencies, Successful Living has room to improve but it has gotten better in the two years Ive worked here. Day Hab is an AMAZING program and the director is very well put together, dedicated, and has the clients best interests in mind. I look up to her and think she has done so much for for the clients and continues to dedicate herself to making it as great as it can be. Its sad to leave but I have put my touch on the hearts of many here and I will miss them greatly!
Although I havent worked for Successful Living all that long (about a year and half), I have seen the different programs grow into their own. Successful Livings Outreach Program has an amazing Director, and highly competent Outreach Counselors. I can safely say that Outreach staff strive to create a person-centered environment for clients, which includes supporting the entire Outreach team.
Solid, caring people who want to do things right, and help other folks live a good life in the community. Very satisfying. Very sincere.
Wonderful place & ideas. Just had issues with a staff. Staff that are unsupportive in an environment thats supposed to help people is usually a no no... I mean Cmon!! Its for people with disabilities, should you really get a job there if your gonna be rude & unhelpful, & maybe even down right disrespectful? No, lets just get that straight. Power trip is what usually screams out when that happens. And working with the mentally ill, we dont need any more of a power trip than we already give ourselves!! Its not easy to live with these issues to begin with, why make it even worse on someone? Cause you have no compassion, empathy or respect. Not for them, not even for yourself... Other than that, the counselors usually rocked!! :)
I can honestly say Successful Living has been the worst place Ive ever worked. One of the housing facilitators is just plain rude, the other completely incompetent. If you have ANY concerns about you or your clients well-being you are completely ignored! The more you voice your concerns Successful Living will write you up and tell you, you need realistic expectations. I tried to voice my concerns about black mold growing in the house and sewer gas pumping in (this took a good 7 months for upper management to fix).Successful Livings board members, housing facilitators, HR, and executive director all need a reality check. These people are supposed to help better peoples lives with mental illness, but in reality theyre detrimental to the clients health. I would not recommend this place to anyone with a chronic mental illness or anyone looking for a job in mental health/social work field. Please, please, please trust the reviews and find an employer that will appreciate and respect you! Also, if you are a new employee at SL watch out for the HR lady! She has worked for SL the longest and is detrimental to employees mental health! VERY toxic lady...The only good thing about this company is Day Hab! The director and her staff are truly amazing people!
These offices opetate a very service-oriented social services agency with client housing in five locations. Providing comminity advocacy, access, training and support to clients wanting to become more independent in the community
I love successful living. But day hab its not like it was back in the day all its is drama.
Very nice people. Would never go anywhere else
Lol. They had to fix 716 n. Dubuque st. In Iowa city because they were over charging for jail cell sized room in sub standard living conditions.if anyone else has complaints they can call Steve laverman who is the senior housing inspector in Iowa city. Due to me having worked for him before ever moving into successful living he had no problem helping me expose the successful living houses every flaw. Pat mayer is a joke also.
They have the worst executive director and management I have ever seen. Either the board of directors are unaware or the corruption goes much higher than the irresponsible management. I dont feel it was appropriate for the executive director to sleep with a young counselor under his supervision. Especially when it affected clients programs negatively.
The Mission statement for this company/organization does not match the mission period.
Great receptionist!
So far, I like it
Social sevc agency.
