Ruined my transmission. They didnt tow my vehicle correctly. Horrible customer service. When I asked the driver if it was the correct way to tow a 4x4 he said dont worry about it. 100 miles later transmission starts slipping. This has happened to numerous people. They are not prompt or professional. Customer service has to be the worst in the industry.
We were in route to our family’s summer vacation when our vehicle broke down with the boat in tow. Just barely able to get the vehicle off of Interstate 380. Two other companies we called were not even willing to send trucks out. Big 10 came to the rescue! Conrad knew his craft very well, and made a frustrating and nerve-racking experience to be way less frustrating and nerve-racking!
Great tow truck operator and dispatch. They took care great care of me and got my car towed fast.
They responded quickly and pulled my car out of the ditch quickly. The driver was very accommodating in dropping me off at a friends before towing it to their facility. Later the office staff was most helpful in allowing me to recover my belongings from the car. They worked with me and my insurance every step of the way. If Im EVER in need of a tow in the Iowa City area they will be my ONLY call.
My vehicle broke down while at the Grocery and Big 10 towing was there fast to help!!! Very professional and nice equipment. Thanks for the rescue/tow!!!
Towed my car from accident...when I called, told me what all I needed from insurance to get car released. They helped me clean her out ( I had injuries ) and the lady took my plates off before I remembered them.). The Gen tlemen helped my daughter in law carrying things to her car, and even reached thru a shattered glass door to jerk on my glove box to open it ( door had crushed in in it.). They informed my insurance I had released car before I could even do it so the adjustor could come inspect damages...highly recommend them....( Specific I nstructions to their location when I called ( different Town/State from me very friendly.)
Big ten towing stole 150 cars for the city in the past two days. They were completely aware that the “no parking” signs blew away and they towed every car anyway. It’s absolutely criminal. But they are bffs with the police department and apartments downtown so that they can all profit off of the Iowa city community. They put 150 people in debt and in a bad situation this week and I’m sure there will be more tonight. It’s appalling what they will do for money. They have screwed so many people and probably made thousands of dollars these past two days alone and all they do is try to blame someone else.Your response is a spineless dodge of accountability: you are now sitting on thousands of dollars from people in the community many of whom can’t pay their rent now because of what you did.
Never going to forget the time they literally just stole my legally parked car off the side of the road and I had to get a cab out to their lot outside of town and pay hundreds to get my stolen vehicle returned to me from the thieves that stole it.The street parking in front of my house was closed at 9 am for a parade. I came out at 8:45 to move my car and it was already stolen by these dirt bags.
Great service! Got my car jumped on a Sunday morning. Pleasant, quick service. Have used Big 10 over the years and have never been disappointed. Thank you!
I had a flat tire and they sent some one with a tow truck to help me change the tire. The guy came with a normal wrench and of course the wheel was fasten tight so that a power tool was needed. He said he does not have any tool. He called their office and they said they don’t have anyone with a power tool! Would you believe that!! They said they can just tow away my car. Towing a car for a simple tire change is absurd.I gave 2 stars, since they responded fast.Update: I went to Lowes, bought an impact wrench, and took out my wheel in 1 minute. This is a tool they must have. Or may be they were trying to take advantage of my situation and charge me for towing!Regrading their reply to my review: In the past, every time I asked AAA for help, they had a power tool for this purpose. Since all service centers use power tools to tighten the wheel, it is most of the times impossible to open the wheel with a simple torque wrench. It is OK if one of your trucks does not have it, but it makes no sense to me that (as I was told) none of your trucks has it. Then dont accept the job (that was given to you by my insurance company). Everyone who has a spare also has one of those flimsy torque wrenches at the back of his car.
Quick, to the point. 35 min total wait time to back driving. It was great!!
Horrible customer service. I was only yelled at in the office when I was asking for an explanation as to why I was towed from my apartment. They said no explanation was needed from them and that I just needed to pay the fee to recover my vehicle. The older lady behind the windows at her desk continued to yell at me while I was speaking with another staff member and getting my payment processed. Even though my towing agreement is through Big Ten Towing I would call another company if someone were to park in my spot so that they did not have to deal with this business.
I work for an ambulance service and had to call due to a flat tire. It was literally like a monsoon out and the young man was more then willing to change it. I felt sorry for him because he totality got drenched, yet he never complained once, and put us at ease. I called at about 2:30 am, he arrived and had us back on the road by 3:50 am.I would definitely recommend Big 10 towing.
My son had a blowout on I-80 on his way home from work. We called Geico road assistance and they sent Big Ten and Mark!Got my son home quickly and safely.Thank you Mark for your professionalism, kindness and great personality! You helped turn a bad situation into a safe journey home for my son and his car.Keep safe out there and thanks again!
Only towing company to answer their phone on a sub-zero morning. Came as soon as they were available and took me to the tire shop promptly. Thanks!
Always quick and ready to help when called for. (I know its their job, but it seems like more than that)
AWFUL COMPANY, don’t support them. Showed up to tow my vehicle out of a spot I pay $600 for. then to avoid getting towed they charged me $100 “show up fee”. Didn’t care that I had proof of spot ownership wouldn’t even let me show them. Driver was rude, inconsiderate, and unreasonable. This company likes to screw college students out of their money.
I broke down on I80, and the tow truck driver seemed a little gruff as he loaded my truck, but after he got it loaded he explained it was due to the high-speed traffic. I completely understood. I didn’t get his name, but I want to thank him for recommending a reputable repair shop, and also for his professionalism.
Chris and Uriel were great! They both went the extra mile for us after hauling our big rig. Exceptional customer service from start to finish. Thanks guys!! We appreciate all you did!
Complete trash of a company that scams college kids
Driver was help friendly and got the job done quickly!
Thanks for getting me towed home right before the big snow!
Make money off poor ppl.Edit: Youre response is vanilla and you know it. Picking up stranded motorists great!!! what yall do is a scam and you know it yet you strive for your communityYall are a poor representation of our community, I pray ppl dont assume thats how all business is done in this town! Shame on you
Try Campus Towing, ASAP Towing, or Holiday Towing. They are all more respectable companies.Towed my car on Memorial Day and didn’t have anyone at the office working. Waited outside for someone to drive out to their job. Completely unprofessional.
Charged 300.00 to winch out my bus. Total of 10 minute.
Awesome people!! Very helpful
Service was very good as always.
Called for a tow at 9pm today. Lady on the phone was ridiculous. Major attitude problem. Good thing their are other towing companies in IC.
I needed a jump start and they responded within 15 minutes. Would definitely use them again.
Very nice friendly guy came to install my spare when we called GEICO Roadside assistance.HOWEVER, he only put 16 lbs of air in the tire. He didnt even bother to get out a gauge. If I had been on the highway I would have been SOL. Fortunately, I was close to a service station and was able to top it off myself.
They are always kind to my friend and I when we need to pick up our car. Their jobs arent fun, but they do them well and try to be as kind and understanding as possible.
Big 10s David Robert and Mark have been amazing help. They have provided quick and efficient work. We are happy that we have a relationship with big 10. would recommend any day!
Love how Iowa City can host a college football game and provide NO parking, every lot was full. Needless to say we were towed. When I called the employee told us their facility was only a block away. Completely false. 4 miles was more like it. Your staff should be more knowledgeable and helpful in giving directions to the location they work in every day! Thank god we didnt get stuck in town with no car over night. My husbands wallet was locked in our car.
Would be 0 if I could. Illegally towed and impounded a legally parked car and could not provide proof of who authorized tow. Typical tow truck operator scam. Doesnt matter if in little town like Iowa City or big city like Chicago. Tow truck operators by nature are scum.Really Appreciate your willingness to talk AFTER you already illegally towed my car, charged a storage fee, and took my money. The car was legally parked in the leased spot we pay for in the building where we rent.We asked who asked for the tow and you did not know and the driver had no info. We asked if you called the landlord and you said its after hours. Your office said you got a call, but, you have no record of who called, when they called, and what verification was provided to prove the car was illegally parked. I think driver trolling in lots, saw an out of state plated car, and just plain towed. This has scam written all over it
This place just towed my son’s scooter from an apartment complex where there was no sign that said permit required. They did not notify him or leave any kind of notice on his scooter so he did not know where it was taken and thought it was stolen. The only way he found it was by calling the Iowa city Police Department who tracked it down. Then, nobody told him they would charge more for every day he did not pick it up. It ended up costing him $227. I know they could have found him because the scooter was registered with the University. I understand a ticket for illegal parking if there is a sign saying so, if the vehicle owner is told where the scooter is taken, and if they are transparent about the costs. This was completely underhanded and immoral. They are taking advantage of vulnerable college students. I am disgusted.
Steve was excellent! He was fast, efficient and kept in contact with us when he was slightly delayed. Great service!
Easily the worst customer service Ive see in a long time. As small business owner, I fully understand the cost of doing business. These guys will / have taken advantage of the situation. Simply put OVER BILLED FOR SERVICES NOT RENDERED. I have to call it price gouging. When I called and asked to get a clarification of the charges, I was given a very flimsy excuse and told that if I didnt like their services that I should never call them again. Rest assured that I will not.FYI ---- Karma is a funny thing.
This company is awful. I called them to get a car towed out of my parking spot, and they informed me that they were not towing anymore cars that night. I asked them if it was okay for me to park in a different spot in the same lot without the risk of getting towed, and they assured me that I would not be towed by their company. 30 minutes later, I go outside to find them about to tow my car. When I asked the employee about why he was doing this after they explicitly told me they weren’t towing cars that night, he was extremely rude and condescending. This company takes advantage of college students and doesn’t communicate at all with their customers. I wish the university would choose to work with a different company.
I had an encounter with them where my car had the tag for the parking spot, but my car still got towed.. I was forced to pay the $200, and missed the birth of my little brother because they thought it would be better to argue over the phone with me then allow me to get my car. The lady on the phone was very rude. Simply, I just wanted to get my car out but I guess they have to make it harder than that.
Prompt, professional, and polite. The only tow company Ill call. Our van was accidentally locked with our toddler and infant son inside. Big 10 showed up within 20 minutes of being called and had it unlocked in less than a minute.
We were stranded 600 miles from home and cancelled US Ryders call that had a wait of 90 minutes and instead had Big 10 University Towing respond with a 20 minute wait. They were friendly, efficient, and got us to a dealer for repairs quickly. Their service was outstanding. I wouldnt hesitate to reccommend Big 10 University Towing to anyone needing assistance.
They totaled my sisters car when it was only in a fender bender to begin with, idiots wrapped it around a pull. Completely unprofessional, rude, liars and thiefs. Stay far far away from these goons!
Listen, obviously getting towed sucks but theyre just doing their job. When you go to get your car out of the lot though, the gals at the desk are really nice. Getting your car out isnt too difficult or time consuming.
Great bunch of professional operaters, have had cars towed, big trucks, even had a 62,000 pound drill rig towed. NEVER HAD AN ISSUE. Always on time and reasonably priced.
Wish I could rate them a 0. This company has rude employees and overcharges LIKE CRAZY! Our car was towed out of MY SISTER’S SPOT AT HER APARTMENT THAT SHE PAID FOR. Had to pay over $100 (1/8 of her parking cost for the year!) just to pick it up WHICH was a 15 minute drive, not nearly as close as they lead you to believe it is. I understand the tag needs to be there, but it was a new car and I was literally going outside to put the tag in the window. They don’t care. They are trolling you!! (Also said our car was blue and very dirty (it’s black and was just washed, if that tells you anything).
Excellent service
I almost had my car towed last night and I understand the situation. HOWEVER, just because I was parked in the wrong spot did not mean the towing guy had to be so unnecessarily rude. He demanded payment without even telling me what the charge was and acted completely unprofessional. I know if I ever needed service it would not be from this man. Completely ridiculous.
300 big ones to get my car, wish me luck paying rent this month
Rude people, charged a bunch of fines on me & my friends cars without giving any warning. Horrible experience.
Helped my son in his time of need
My daughter was broken down 60 miles from home, and Geico emergency roadside assistance contacted Big 10 to tow the car back to our mechanic in the QC. They arrived within 30 minutes of the call, were polite, helpful, and kind in a stressful situation. In addition, my mechanic called me this morning to say the Big 10 driver left a note with the key in the key drop about the type of fluids that appeared to be leaking, which made his job diagnosing the issue easier. Thank you, Big 10, for helping make this stressful situation easier to deal with. :-)
Before I tell my story, try Campus Towing, ASAP Towing, or Holiday Towing. They are all more respectable companies.I parked illegally. I know I did, I knew when I did it. It was my birthday, and I parked in an apartment building, to use the eatery across from it. As Im leaving the restaurant I see a tow truck pulling up. I ran over there, explained myself, and he was cool, just said that there would be a show up fee, with which I was cool, until he told me how much.$90.18. ARE YOU SERIOUS? For WHAT? I understand I took some of your time, but $90? I asked if hed let me off the hook because of the bday, he said no but I could try the boss, whom the operator admitted was an a-hole anyways and already in a bad mood. I called politely, asked for the favor, rejected. He said a lady called him for the service, he came and now I owe him the money. I told him that she was standing right here and told me she would let me go. He then said, Then she can pay me. Wow. I paid the fee to operator, and said my sorries to the gal. What they didnt know is that I run a business where I use their service frequently. Not anymore!I would have accepted a reasonable fee for the inconvenience, $30, 35 sounds more than fair. Your operator makes less than $20 an hour, didnt provide any service, except showing up (i.e. didnt hook up or tow anything), and it doesnt take 20 mins to respond to that call. It was a Thursday; I can imagine you werent crazy busy at 7pm. $90 is extortion. I went to leave, you parked in front of me so I couldnt and demanded $90.When you get a parking ticket in Iowa City, your first is free, next is $5, then 10 and so on. Meaning that I would have to get 21 tickets before one of them is $90, or 7 parking tickets before I owed a total over $90.Big Ten Towing - You can prey on college students, and be unscrupulous in your business practices, but I sincerely hope it catches up to you and your family run business.
This is easily the worst towing company I have ever encountered. Ive had my own car towed from the spot I pay for before, and yet tonight when I need them to tow someone elses car from my spot, they refuse. DESPITE the fact that I could present them with my ID, the parking tag for the spot, and my lease. The other car had no tag at all, but they told me that because I didnt have the parking agreement with me, they could not tow the other car. Its honestly baffling to me that theyll tow my car from my spot but not someone elses.
Great group of guys, fast towing.
Great service, always fast. Friendly staff in the tow trucks and the front desk.
Literally the most awful service ever. Trust all the bad reviews and do your business with literally any other towing company.
Very terrible service, rude, and towed a vehicle they had no right to tow based off its location. Would not recommend them to my worst enemy!
Very friendly despite probably encountering a lot of upset and/or sad customers. Free candy at the front desk. My car was not damaged or injured in any way.
They will steal from service members in order to make a quick buck!***Avoid this company***
Courteous and professional. Would recommend.
Awesome ppl
Drivers were horribly rude and unprofessional. They called me out in front of the tenants whose guests’ cars needed to be towed and said that I was the one having the cars towed when it was actually the landlord. I had hardly anything to do with the situation. I was just in a bad place at a bad time and needed to park my car.
Super fast response
Towed without a call from my apartments private parking lot then charged full price
Cool dude had it
A bunch of lazy high school dropouts and burnouts that make their living by leeching off society and the suffering of others.
They did a great job helping my daughter when she had an accident
They provide good services
Pulling not even 2 m was charged 1,000$MAGIC PRICES!!!!!!!!! Careful customersThey r saying starting amount of $300)))))))
Staff was helpful.
Had my vehicle pulled to the side of the road to go and get gas.. Was gone 10 minutes and this company was there when I pulled up with gas stating this was a hazard and wanted a $80.00 show up fee. This was a residential side road. Watch this company..
Great place.
Money hungry .
Love the Auctions
Very quick service!
Prices are outrageous!!
Friendly people
Crime syndicate
Muddy hole.
Friendly place
