I just bought my first car a couple of weeks ago - found out that my brake pads were worn down to almost nothing which caused me to get into a minor car accident. I had never been to a auto repair shop and found this business and decided to bring my car here due to the high credibility in reviews and star ratings - they are right! Raf is amazing, communicated with me throughout the entire process, answered any questions or concerns I had, replaced all four of my brake pads and bumper very fast. While camping in Iowa city our hydraulic Jacks locked up and we were stranded. Even though they were busy they made room for us and were very reasonable in cost. I will use them again if I need help in Iowa city or close by.

This place is a bit of a throwback - a no-fuss, family-owned auto shop with fast and courteous service. I came 1/2 hour before close, and they squeezed me in for an oil change, checked my fluids, and topped off the wiper fluid.

They did a good job on replacing my rear A/C evaporator with expansion valve. I was visiting family here and I broke the connection when I was working on my 2014 Chrysler Town and Country. Having no A/C in the summer is the worst but they took it in immediately and took care of replacing my part, vacuuming my A/C system and filling it up with the right amount of freon. Its been blowing cold for almost a month now and I have to say they do great A/C work!

#1 Auto took care of me like I was their son. I came in with brake issues and a broken axle and they took care of it on the spot. Raffy is very respectable and takes the job seriously. While driving across country from Florida my sons car broke down in Iowa. So thankful a good Samaritan towed him to #1 Auto Repair. You never know what you are going to get at a repair shop and I have never gone to one in Iowa City so I was really hoping for the best. Luckily I called Number One Auto. You can trust these guys to make the right decision and treat you fairly.We have an older truck for farm use that often gets neglected. We were having issues with clicking sounds under the hood for years and recently the engine felt like it was going to stall. We had it looked at by other shops, but no one really knew or could pinpoint the issue. Raffy wanted to start with the exhaust manifold gaskets and found both exhaust manifolds were cracked! Let me tell you, the truck has never ran better!They were also really quick, even with such a huge job. Raffy knew this was an extra vehicle and that I didnt need it back right away, but he still got it done in a few days! And he is BUSY!Repairs included: both exhaust manifolds, brakes & rotors, belt & tensioner, and some other minor vehicle checks/repairs

I hit a metal bucket that fell from a truck on I-80 East exit 146 while returning from vacation to Indiana from California. I googled an auto repair place that was open Saturday and I found Number 1 auto. I called them and they sent a tow truck and they looked at my vehicle and replaced a ruptured plastic fuel hose. I was towed and back on the road again within 2 hours. Great place. Raffy and his helper were extremely positive and explained everything to me. I was very relieved at the bill as well. Every time I go there I get a great service from the owner. He always takes care of my vehicles and very honest with me if I have to change the parts or not.Last time I was there he gave me his personal vehicle to drive it for the weekend while he was working on my truck.Another time my cousin had a flat tire at 9 PM on the highway on his way to Cedar Rapids after leaving riverside casino with his family. The only person that I could get hold of is the owner I called his cellphone he went got the tire back to his shop then back on the highway and installed it to them and within an hour my family were safe back on the road. After that time we became best friends.

I purchased a vehicle from Raffy on June 25th, 2020 In which I did recieve the title, however on July 8th, I went to register the vehicle and was advised I could not because it was not a clean title. I went to Raffy immediately and advised him of this information,Raffy has not taken the apporiate steps to ensure that I recieve my new title nor has he called me, each time I have called him and every time he has given me the run around and or became hostile.As a business you should not take an individuals money and not do your due diligence in regards to the nessecary documents, needed for the vehicle.At this point in time I purchased a vehicle in which I cannot utilize, due to not having my new title so I can register my vehicle that I payed 3650.00 for. I spoke to him today and he hung up in my face, very unprofessional, and noneffient, and simply a business that takes advantage of people, I will not recommend Number One Auto, zero stars.

As a young woman is hard to find a good place where the owner does not look for their own interest. In here, I knew exactly what the problem was during the whole repair process as he explained everything to me. I had the opportunity to look on his instruments, to understand his thought process and he was extremely transparent over prices and services. Not the cheapest guys in town but a very worth experienced professional who will take care of you.Highly recommended.

I had some front end damage from a collision and went to Number One Auto as they are near my house and open at hours most other mechanics are closed. They quickly gave me an estimate and it sounded good so I left my car there. In 2 business days they had rebuilt and painted the front end of my car. Fast high quality work, paint matches, and they cleaned the interior as well!

Probably the best repair/service experience Ive had anywhere. We were 2 days away from a 3000 mile RV trip when our coolant system started leaking, leading to the engine overheating. Its a 34 foot RV, and we called 7 places before this one, all of which specialize in RV/truck service. Not one could accomodate us. Raffy not only saw us immediately, but he fixed our issue the same day. He communicated with us throughout the day, explained the problem and how he fixed it, all for a super reasonable price. We are now on day 4 of our trip, 1500 miles in, and the things runs like an ace. Needless to say, we will bring all of our vehicles here from now on.

PLEASE, please DO NOT purchase a used vehicle from Raffy before verifying that the title to the vehicle is legit. My Daughter purchased a vehicle from Raffy two months ago.When she took the registration in to get her plates, she was told that Raffy owed fines on the cars title. When she informed Raffy she couldnt get the cars registration until he paid the fines he asked her to return the car title two months ago. He refused to sale her a different car with a legitimate title. We still havent heard a word back from Raffy or Amy. Finally we decided to seek counseling from an Attorney. Apparently this isnt the first incident.

I called them to see if I could get a quick easy fix for my 2014 Toyota Prius, which by the way he finished my sentence when I was describing the problem, obviously they said yes come in we’ll fix it, I was there within 10 min, my car was fixed within 5 min, then he tried to let me go home with no charge and I was like no way dude!!! Very good service. Literally from phone call to car fixed, back on the road, was 20 minutes.

I was looking for a place to get good quality tires yet not completely break the bank. I called Number One Auto hoping to just have my tire patched and get an oil change; took it in the next morning and Raffy explained to me about how bad my tires were and his recommendations for new tires and an oil change. He was honest and really cared about us as customers. He even told me a trick to saving on a credit card fee! Walked out the door just over $500 with four brand new tires mounted and balanced with an oil change. The wait time was reasonable, staff was friendly, and I will never use another auto shop but this one. Job well done.

Paid almost $3000 for a car and it turned out to be a lemon. Only lasted me a couple of months then it broke down and almost killed me. Never buying here again!

Raffy is the best. I hit a curb and my already very loose front bumper slipped off, and I was terrified that I was going to have to buy a new bumper entirely. I called the shop 40 minutes from the time they closed, arrived 30 minutes before they closed, and was out with my front bumper completely reattached before the clock struck 6. These guys are fast, cheap, dedicated, and really know what they’re doing. I will never go anywhere else in Iowa City!!!
