I interviewed for acceptance into Sarkines Total Warrior a few months ago and its been one of the best investments in my life. They start off with an interview process as theyve stated dont want to allow rude or overly rough people into the gym, which I highly respect since I wouldnt want to work with cruel people while training to fight either. Ray and James, the instructors, really work with you and help you build discipline, muscle, and power all while helping you become the best person you can be.They practice thoughtfulness, team building, and technique. Im in the best shape of my life and I feel like my fellow warriors are my friends. Going to training is a highlight of my week and I always look forward to learning more from Ray and James. They have a wealth of knowledge and experience. I seriously trust them with my life and feel like Im safe training with them and everyone else in the gym too.

I’ve been attending Sarkine’s Total Warrior at the Fishers location since the fall of 2020. While I had the desires to improve my body’s capabilities, my deeper aspiration was to invest myself in something that would help heal me mentally and characteristically. As someone who has struggled to manage diagnosed anxiety, depression, ADHD, and traumas, I do various therapies to stay above water, but was admittedly becoming hopeless in finding a way to fortify my mind. I wanted to be stronger internally. I wanted more discipline. I wanted to gain a greater sense of self-respect and -worth. I wanted to forge my deeper potential to rebuild my character overall.I knew that if I wanted to succeed in my goals, I needed a teacher who was compassionate, vastly intuitive, and able to relay lessons based on the individual and their understanding - and I knew immediately that Ray would fill that role. And with a highly knowledgeable and effective teacher like James, I get a hardy physical and mental workout!I had a harder time committing in the beginning, but their compassion really solidified a sense of support for me, and I genuinely wanted to do right by them and myself.Overall, it’s a much more relaxed, close, and supportive environment. They carefully choose what students to accept in order to create a space of safety, growth and fun, to which I feel extremely lucky to have found and be a part of.While I still fight with myself more than I spar with anyone else, I’ve improved in areas of my life that I no longer believed were attainable for me. I’m healing and growing in the exact ways I set out to, and beyond. This has been one of the most fulfilling decisions of my life.

I knew when I decided to have my daughter trained at this facility there would be a learning curve for myself as well as her. Ray and James both have very different yet VERY EFFECTIVE approaches to their skills. My daughter has been attending since August 2020 and I have noticed major changes in her confidence at home. There have been times as a parent I have been at a total loss on what to do with the ways I have seen her act and James and Ray both have been right there to help. Not only to offer advice on how to handle the situation but also how to correct my own habits to help correct hers. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone! With that being said, I have also read previous reviews. My only advice would be, don’t be blind to what Martial Arts is. While this is a great physical work out, there is quite a bit of mental and emotional strength to not only be had but to be built within these classes.

I have been attending the class for 6 months now! I signed up for the elite class and go 3x a week! In my opinion it is worth every penny that they charge! Considering what you get in return! Besides getting into great shape you learn patience and discipline and how to relax under pressure! Ray and James are really great instructors and have the experience to know how to make each individual student to reach their full potential I am 54years old and I never thought I would be learning a combat sport. But the instructors and the students make sure you can succeed not matter what age you are! DARREN FAUBER

Ive been attending classes here for almost three months and Im kicking myself for not finding this place sooner. Ray and James are amazing instructors and work with you on all the techniques you learn here. Not only that, but everyone who attends these classes are kind, helpful, and welcoming. Ive never felt like an outsider or a rookie when training with others, even during my first few classes. I have lost 20 pounds since I first started training and have never felt better, both physically and mentally. Training at Total Warrior has been the most fun Ive ever had with a workout and if youre ready to work hard, learn some new skills and meet new people, then Sarkines Total Warrior is the way to go!

I have been attending classes at the North Side school, in Fischer, for almost 2 years now. If you are interested in martial arts and are willing to commit yourself, you will not be disappointed. You will learn to defend yourself and have a great time doing it. If you come ready to listen, learn, and work you can achieve a lot. The owner and instructors are very friendly and any questions you have, they answer to help you improve. These classes will push you, improve you, and hopefully like me, will make your day more enjoyable. They do what they can for their students. As long as I live in Indiana, I will attend classes here.

Exercise extreme caution before signing anything. Like any business that sells you a workout plan, you are just as accountable for attending the classes as they are holding up their end of the deal. However, I experienced a breakdown on their end immediately. The private lesson that I was given as my first free lesson was very encouraging. I was excited about losing that extra 20 pounds and was preyed upon by these sales people. Immediately following this lesson I was put in a sales office with the owner. He told me FOR THE FIRST TIME that this lesson wasn’t really free. Keep in mind that I was already done with the lesson at this point. The deal was that if I didn’t sign up for their high pressure legally contracted lesson plan that I NOW HAD YO PAY OVER $100 FOR MY “FREE” LESSON!I was uncomfortable with their sales approach of essentially tricking people in to signing up or paying for that lesson... but they got me... I signed on the dotted line. In this meeting I was promised over $500 worth of equipment included as part of what I signed up for... I received a T-shirt... which they asked me to pay for at first and then was told that I needed to spend literally hundreds of more dollars on essential equipment that came from them. I was ignored and taken away from the group when I mentioned that “I signed up for the package where my equipment was included.” The instructor tried to separate me and give me a pair of gloves to “shut me up.”The reason I wrote this review is because of one thing. I was paying them over $150 per month to work out there. I told them that I did not feel I was given what was promised and the classes are NOTHING like you “free” private lesson on the first day. I had paid on time in full for 4 months and sent them an email. I asked about terminating my contract because I didn’t feel they were holding up their end and requested to sit down with them.Immediately I was met with a legal letter telling me that I was lazy and wanted out because I’m of low moral character. The letter went on to say that they were threatening legal action. I was blown away, I asked for a meeting to discuss something and had never missed a payment and that’s what I got. This business clearly wasn’t for me and I should have never signed up for something I was this uncomfortable with, but I was motivated by trying to improve my body. All I will say is please don’t sign anything until you have went to a few of the regular scheduled classes and have 100% of the information about what they will expect you to purchase from them once you are a member. Don’t let your feelings about your body cloud your judgment about this business. I would recommend declining the “free” lesson and paying for a few GROUP sessions before ever signing anything. I was trapped by a contract to workout somewhere that I was uncomfortable with taught by people who I was very uncomfortable with.

My son joined about a month ago. He loves it! Hes always been pretty confident, but his class has really boosted his confidence even more. I noticed that my son is always willing to participate in demonstrations, which Im glad to see hes stepping forward, instead of holding back. My husband and I also like how the instructors are firm, but in a good way. The instructors also point out what the students need work on without belittling them. Always praising the kids when theyre doing really well, and praising the ones that are really trying. I see a few kids that just light up when praised, and I know theyre walking out of there a foot taller than when they walked in. Highly recommend this club. T & B Davis

I trained for over 7 years and it was the best thing I ever done. I was in better shape than I had ever been in. Ray and James and the other students were supportive and encouraging and that along with a lot of sweat helped me lose the 35 lbs I gained in college. I’ve been gone for over a year now and am starting to get depressed because I am gaining back the weight. Nothing else is the same. I wish I could move back to Indy just to rejoin the school. When I was there they paid as much attention to me as they did to the students who won titles. They only care if you work hard and are nice to everyone. If someone is anti-social or hateful they won’t fit in there. I met friends at the gym there that I still have and if i could find a good job back home I’d be back in a heartbeat…...they are the best.

I enrolled my 4 year old grandson in this program at Indianapolis Martial Arts 9 months ago. My main objective for taking him there was to expose him to positive male role models. Unfortunately my grandson’s father is not active in his life and I don’t want him to be a statistic. Ray and James have worked with him and they understand that all children need structure, rules, and guidance. They help the children to understand responsibility and respect. I have seen a dramatic improvement in my grandson’s behavior and understanding of “responsibility”. He enjoys and looks forward going to class 2 times a week. I am confident that when he starts school next fall he will be prepared and focused in class! My grandson has progressed and been promoted 2 times in the last 9 months and he takes great pride in his accomplishments in class. We are looking forward to learning more, making new friends, growing up, and NOT being a statistic!!!!

Its more than just a work out. What you gain from Sarkines Total Warrior is a sense of family and community. What has been created in this environment is not just an everyday kickboxing workout but a program which develops both your physical and mental strength alongside your character. They provide you with the opportunity to gain the determination, dedication, and drive to not only become a martial artist but the best possible version of yourself. What I personally have gained through this experience, besides priceless friendships, is the opportunity to push myself beyond what I believed my limits were. To find strength I didnt know I had, and a healthy channel to deal with all that life can throw at you. I have always been treated with respect and have in turn been taught to respect the process and all it has to offer. I am happy to say I have found my place here among this amazing group of people and encourage anyone else to join who is looking for an opportunity to really challenge themselves.

After years of sitting at a computer every day, working in an environment that changes daily, and the stresses not only from work but everyday life something had to change. First my daughter and I purchased a gym membership along with paying for personal fitness sessions. We never found an instructor that had a genuine interest in helping us find our best. Instructors just provided a list of what exercises we’d do and watch with little to no input. After two years of private lessons and gym fees, we ended our gym membership. My daughter wanted to try Indianapolis Martial Arts Club. To say the least I was intrigued but at over 40 I was concerned about my abilities. Four months into it now and it has been a great experience. The instructors are great and take a personal interest in your development of the skill and you as an individual. Even with the hundreds of students the instructors see each day, they still know you by name. The workouts are intense and those pieces that jiggled a bit much will start to tone up quickly! It is wonderful to work out with so many great people who encourage each other to keep pushing, don’t judge you if your pace is a bit slower, and support you in your development. Each workout session is different and the instructors are always working with you on an individual level to enhance your skill. There are so many days I come home from work that I could just drop into the couch and be done with the day. But the staff, students and, great workout keep us coming back.

**This review has been edited on the bottom to address the business owners snarky comments.**I cannot get ahold of anyone regarding my daughters membership. Very disappointing. Very upsetting. We are all bound to a contract and yet everyone is being charged for services no one is receiving. A contract must be respected by both parties... you should not collect money if you are not providing any such service during this pandemic. No other gyms are charging their customers... my trust is broken and I cannot reach anyone. James will not respond to my messages and the mail box is full. This is wrong.---------------------------------updated on 6/5/2020 @ 7:30 PM (about 4 hours from business owners response)**I KNOW ABOUT THE STATEWIDE CLOSURES! DO NOT PATRONIZE ME OR OTHER CONCERNED PARENTS. The tone of your response is, as always, disrespectful, self-absorbed, and totally misleading. No one ever blamed your gym for the cause of COVID-19. But, I, nor anyone else for that matter, should be charged for the months we never received services. And, your solution that students will receive EVERY LESSON missed makes no sense. How? If a student goes twice a week, how are you going to make up these classes? We have lives outside of your gym. I have other children that have other activities as well. (Which BTW- those businesses understand and paused billing and also kept a very open line of communication for me to have any questions answered. They NEVER forced me to contact them via snail mail.) I also have a business to help run and many other obligations. So, how does your solution work, exactly? It doesnt make any sense to me... anyone else confused? And as for you saying no correspondence was attempted; yes it was! My text messages show otherwise. And, if you dont have the courage or care to personally reach out to your clients that buy a service you supposedly provide by ignoring them, thats on you.Your condescending response does not intimidate me; albeit, it does frustrate me and make me regret ever doing business with you, but all of this makes sense, now. Finally, I understand all of your bad Google and Yelp reviews. Instead of practicing what you preach, youre a hypocrite that has no respect for your clients as you bad mouth and twist every bad review because you cant handle constructive criticism. Thank you for teaching me a lesson: ALWAYS LOOK AT THE OWNERS RESPONSES TO BAD REVIEWS. You dont even sincerely apologize for how much of an inconvenience youve made by letting your voice mail box get full and ignoring ALL concerns. I have always been interested in Martial Arts but never had the chance to practice them before. After coming to Indy and seeing the number of positive reviews that this school had, I decided to go ahead and enroll. After training at Ray Sarkines school for several months, I can say that I am in a much better shape, I also sleep better at night, and my balance and flexibility have improved tremendously. When I first started training, my main goal was to get in a better shape. I had no idea about the mental benefits that training with Ray would provide. I see life in a completely different way. I am a happier, more positive person, and have become more patient as well, not only when it comes to Martial Arts but even at home and at work too.At first, I though the school was going to be focused mainly on training people for competitions and championships. However, that was not the case. The school and their programs are tailored to all manner of people from all walks of life. From those who actually want to compete, to those who want to simply get in a better shape and improve their lifestyle.I love the fact that it is a work out that I enjoy going to and at the same time keeps me active. Having fun while working out is something I just could not find at any other regular gym.I can honestly say that working out with Ray and his staff has helped me become a better person, on top of improving my body and mind. In the future, I hope I can continue to benefit from the work ethic and positive mindset of this school.

After coming here for a few months both girls became more confident in speaking up and out for what they felt was right. Being the new kids in the school seemed to be easier for them. Not only was there a transformation mentally but physically they were building muscle tone and feeling better about their bodies. As a teen, he actually contacted James himself and we set up a meeting. Ray & James were very welcoming & excited to get Jacob started. He had no previous experience but was eager to learn. I did the whole LA Fitness thing, used their trainers, still got no results and because I got no results I started making excuses not to go. Then I signed up at the Indianapolis Martial Arts Club. I quickly built muscle, endurance and flexibility and loss weight doing a workout that makes me want to keep going back. I highly recommend this place to anyone!

I thank this place for teaching me an inexpensive lesson in signing anything in the US.A couple of years ago when I was over in the US for work (Im from the UK) so I went to the gym as I needed a place to go train. I explained my situation right away - Im here on a temporary basis for a few months and I dont want to sign a year contract. That was not a problem and I felt the my were doing everything they could to help me out. I got convinced to pay around $150 to sign up and got told to come for a lesson tomorrow and well sort out your others. Fantastic. Also, sign this waiver and well see you tomorrow.... So I sign it (without stupidly reading it).I arrive next day and ask about the lessons. They wanted over $1k due to the fact I could only buy a minimum block of 10. I was not made aware of this fact the day before at all.I ended up storming out in anger annoyed with the fact I had been conned. Now I look back and see it as a lesson not to sign anything without reading the entire document first. No matter what the owner says.Youve probably saved me a ton of money in the future! Cheers guys!

This place is awesome. I have been going 2-3 times a week for the last 7 months.I usually do the Monday and Wednesday noon classes with James. He is an excellent instructor. Every class he pushes me to my limit but never pushes me past what I am capable of doing.I joined the club to lose weight, and I have lost about 20 pounds of fat and 2 pant sizes. More than losing weight I have gained a ton of core strength. My first day I could not do a single sit up and fell on my butt when I tried to jump rope. Now Im up to fifty sit ups and can jump rope for 5 min.The training is incredible. I love the fact that I am learning how to defend myself on the off chance that I am ever attacked and plan to continue going the IMAC for many more years.

Best Training I ever had. I did boxing for years in New York. I did Muay Thai in Hollywood and I’ve done Bjj all over. All that was fine but it didn’t even begin to match what I learned from Ray and the Instructors at Total Warrior. They helped me really understand things and how they worked together. I really enjoy every class. I learn so much. Everyone there helps each other and it’s always fun to work hard. Ray’s understanding of Martial Arts and his ability to help you get it thru a thick head is really cool. He and James are patient with everyone even if they had bad habits like me. I’d give 100 stars if possible.

I originally joined IMAC in 2008. I was 18 years old and my doctor had just dropped the bomb that I was officially obese. Not knowing what to do, I began searching for something fitness related that wouldnt make me feel like a hamster on a wheel; I found Indianapolis Martial Arts Club. It was/is a workout that is both physically challenging and fun.I had to end my membership after the first year, because I went out of state for school, but I always remembered strenuous but enjoyable workouts. June of 2016 I joined once again, this time my Mom did too. Weve been learning Muay Thai together in a way that strengthens our relationship and our muscles!Ray, James, and Stephanie are full of encouraging advice on how to improve your form and get strong. Theyre constantly challenging you to be better than you were before, and you will receive a lot of personal attention for improvement. Its not just a workout, its learning a SKILL, and theyve studied it for years. My advice would be to give it a try, but understand your budget. Quality education requires a time commitment and a financial commitment. Make sure youre ready for both, and have fun.

About 9 years ago I stopped in IMAC to inquire about taking lessons due to an interest in martial arts, and a desire to find a different path to fitness. After leaving the school I felt an urging to pursue my interest, but unfortunately I found every excuse in the book to not make the commitment. Now in my late forties find myself having made one of the best commitments of my life. Jumping into the pool and choosing to put aside all excuses. ( As an older student, I find it refreshing to hear the coach speak to the younger students about life experiences and the applications of the skills just taught.)At IMAC I have found an environment, where I can challenge myself physically and mentally. Pushing the I cant do it mentality out of my head and improving my mental and physical flexibility. Learning the the art and disciplines of Martial Arts, all under the guidance of a great staff. A courteous staff that will push you to better yourself, without forcing you into a situation where you can injure yourself.Classes set the student up for success, by building the student from the ground up. Once the student masters the basic concepts they are invited to move to a more advanced level. All of which is based on the students desires and abilities.IF YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT THIS MISSION, and make the commitment of your time and your effort, I think that you will have a fun and rewarding experience all while meeting great people.I can only imagine where I wouldve been had I chosen not to make excuses 9 years ago.
