Ive been a student for a few years. Mike works at the level of his students, encouraging and pushing them toward the next level without being pushy. The class allows you to start at your level and as your body and mind relax and enjoy, your skill improves. I love the fact that this is defensive martial arts that hones my reflexes and exercises me at the same time.

The Sensei at Snake River Aikido has over a decade of experience. He’s easy to follow and gives lots of individual attention. He’s unlike many other martial arts teachers in that he doesn’t nickel and dime you. I’ve seen some schools constantly charging for testing and belts on top of an expensive monthly training fee. That really bothers me. Snake river Aikido is very affordable for adults and children and you won’t break your budget on extra fees all the time. Another thing I enjoy is that he really tailors his classes to his individual student’s needs. Aikido has been so fun to learn. It has already improved my reflexes, balance, agility, stamina, and posture. This dojo has provided a fun, friendly and supportive environment to learn some great self defense. It’s the best value around. I highly recommend it.

I have been attending Snake River Aikido off and on since 1998. The current teacher is calm, patient and knowledgeable . The classes are fun and enjoyable. I have nothing but good things to say about this dojo!

I’ve been practicing for about 5 years now with Snake River Aikido and it’s been one of the best things for me! It can take a while for me to learn a technique and the sensei’s Mike and Melissa literally have never ending patience. You can be on your 50th try and they remain calm with no pressure on you and they’ll keep going till you understand it. I was drawn to aikido cuz it’s different and still completely effective while not wearing yourself out. I’ve practiced with a couple other sensei’s and while they’re good and know their stuff I have learned more from Mike and his style than anyone else’s. It’s a small class but that just means you can get a more personal experience!! I also wasn’t too interested in the belt system and while it’s encouraged to still test for them sensei was totally fine with me coming just to learn. Another huge plus - I don’t think I’ve seen another martial art with these prices. Totally worth it! I’m so glad to be a part of this aikido group and we hope to see you in class sometime!!!!!

The Sensei here is really friendly. He is fun and is a good teacher. I like that there are other kids my age to train with. The Dojo is spacious so there is lots of room to throw people around. Aikido has been fun to learn. I like that aikido is a more defensive martial art and still works without having to really injure other people.
