I cannot recommend Southeast Structural (and Michael) enough. Im a first-time home buyer, moving back to the States after military service overseas for nearly two decades. As I am still overseas, finishing up the final details of my move, I needed someone I could trust to do a thorough assessment of some possible structural issues on my new house that presented themselves in the home inspection. I am not an Alabama native, so I dont have the resources or contacts someone in the area might have. I took a chance on Michael based on his Google reviews, and I am so glad that I did. From the very first phone call, he was knowledgeable, patient with my myriad questions, and full of helpful suggestions. He went out of his way to accommodate my very short timeline, knowing that his report was integral to my request for repairs to the home before the end of the inspection deadline. After completing the assessment, he called me to debrief me. Then, I received a thorough explanation of findings, complete with photos, that (in terms I could easily understand) explained the repairs necessary, as well as suggestions for issues our inspector and a contractor didnt report. I can honestly say that Michael has saved me thousands upon thousands of dollars of unexpected out-of-pocket expenses. He has been a vital part of the home buying process, and I would have been lost without him. Michael is a trustworthy, kind, and professional engineer. Fast, Knowledgable, and Exactly what we needed. We had a kitchen remodel we needed done and we came across an unexpected load bearing wall as we were doing our demo. This wall was a former exterior wall, and was in a very strange placement in our new home. My wife and I had no idea what to do, and I found Southeast Structural and gave them a call. Michel answered, and set up an appointment quickly. When he arrived he was very friendly, answered all our questions, gave us pointers on what we had already built, took quick accurate measurements, told us about what would need permits and what wouldnt, and gave us a complete outline on what we needed to do to accomplish everything we were hoping for. Our minds were set at ease. Further, the next day he sent us detailed calculations and specs on the size and material of the beam needed. We cannot praise this guy enough. In 2019, we purchased a foreclosed property that had been empty for 2 years. I received a quote from AFS for $10,000 in foundation repairs after one of their own inspected a crack in my home foundation (who was at the house for less than 10 minutes). I wanted an unbiased independent assessment of the cause of mortar cracking around my garage door prior to bring out a foundation repair company so, I called Southeast Structural. Michael came out and determined the cause of the cracking and I was able to make the repairs for less than $300. I highly recommend getting an independent assessment of any structural issues from Southeast Structural prior to contracting for repairs. I believe that doing this saved me several hundred dollars.

I have an interest in older homes in Northern Alabama and its important to analyze the structural integrity of the home. One thing I found out was there are not many structural engineers in Northern Alabama. Michael has thoroughly looked through the homes and provided me his evaluation. In cases where the home has structural issues, Michael explains them in a way I can understand and provides recommendations to re-mediate the issue.
