I prefer this venue very much. theres a different spirit. The kitcen is marvelous. the service is effective and the team is polite. The pay is satisfactory. extremely recommend.

I came to California to train with Otávio Souza. I was there for the fundamental class and then stayed for the advanced class. Some of the best instruction Ive gotten in a long time. I had a chance to train with him at the end of the class as well. Extremely talented!!!! I recommend young and old study and train with Otavio!

What an awesome place to train Jiu Jitsu. The mats are clean, facilities are kept well. There are sparring partners of all levels. Rolling on the mats is like rolling with good friends because everyone is so helpful encouraging and supportive, but definitely pushes your game. Many great words can be said for the coaching family of Professor Otavio Sousa and Coach Marina. The instruction is world class which goes without saying after seeing the multiple world championship metals of Professors on the wall. Moreover, Professor Otavio really cares and puts the time and energy into his instruction for all of his classes from kids to adult. Try a class and you will immediately see what I am talking about.This gym is a true gem. If you are fortunate enough to be able to train here, then you are a very fortunate person. Come try a class if you have never trained, or if you are visiting then have a roll with us. Either way, see you on the mat!

Professor Otavio is a 3x (and current) Black Belt World Champ and he personally teaches every single kids class. Beyond his amazing achievements and credentials, he is one of the nicest, most humble, and truly encouraging people- you will ever meet. Coach Marina, Professor Otavios wife, is so lovely, caring, and welcoming with everyone, especially the kids that train here. Her nurturing spirit creates a great balance to the challenges and rigors of learning Jiu-Jitsu. Together, they have created a gym that radiates positive energy and warmth. Their two kids, Yasmin and Pepe, also help to coach the kids class and serve as wonderful role models to the younger kids. Thank you GBHB family, we love you!

This is a great place for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu!!! Last spring I started looking for a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school in Huntington Beach where I could begin training. I was a complete beginner to BJJ and I’m an older athlete at 55. I checked out some notable studios in Huntington Beach but one comment that I read prompted me to also check-out Gracie Barra Huntington Beach which at that time had been open for about one year. I made a visit to GBHB and met Professor Otavio Sousa and I signed up to start classes the next day. It was one of the best things that I’ve ever done. Even as an older student I feel that this school embraces the Gracie Barra ideal of “BJJ for everyone.” As far as range of students goes theres a buzzing kids’ school full of youngsters having a blast, a few folks in my age range and then many in all the in-between age ranges. Some of the students are complete novices who just want a great workout, some grappling, and the sense of community that one gets here, and some are already champions or are just a step away from getting their first championships. All are here because they are enjoying the journey of learning the art of BJJ.And there is no better person to learn from than Professor Sousa. Obviously, with 3 IBJJF Black Belt World Championships among many other championships, Professor Sousa is skilled and has lots of experience and success at a world-class level. But he is also incredibly approachable and encouraging and is a great instructor that is interested in seeing every one of his students progress in their BJJ. Since training at GBHB, I have had many people say to me that they’d like to train with Professor Sousa. My response always is “you can, go to a class; you’ll be amazed at how much personal attention you’ll get.” While Professor Sousa is keeping things top-notch on the mats, Marina keeps the front office welcoming and friendly and she handles all of the administrative duties in addition to making sure that there are plenty of clean gis for rentals and that all students are set with their own equipment. There’s a ton of other details Marina tends to that keeps this top-quality school running smoothly. Professor Otavio Sousa and Marina love BJJ and care about what they’re doing and the community that is building around them at Gracie Barra Huntington Beach. You don’t get to be a part of that every day. Obviously, I am a big fan of GBHB and I feel very fortunate to have it as my BJJ home.

I love the discipline and the family atmosphere, they are very professional and the studio is very clean.
