I have brought my 22 year old show truck to Slaters for many years... When I had a water pump problem 6 years ago Slater fixed it it still working fine and I have brought it to him since was small repairs... I would recommend this mechanic shop to anybody who wants a repair done the right way... Slater is a great mechanic... Talk to Patty when you get there she is going to take care of you

My entire family has been bringing our vehicles here for over 15 years at least. Weve NEVER had a complication or any kind of issue with them.Ive lived all over the state of Texas and I trust this place so much that I have had my truck towed from Dallas to Atascocita just because I know 100% that they arent going to try to pull anything shady on me and that they will get the job done right the first time.

Very knowledgeable staff. They have always figured out the issues with my vehicles. Since Im close by, they were able to give me a ride home, when needed.

Got us in, diagnosed, and quoted in under 1 hour. Work was quick, efficient, and the bill was very reasonable.

We have a 72 Lincoln Continental. Had a very hard time finding someone that could work on something that old. Just picked it up. Seems to be running well. Need to sell it. Anyone interested?

Worst mistake ever going to this shop. Not sure where to start so many problems have come from taking my vehicle here. I brought my truck in to get some leaks fixed in rear end and manifold and to get a computer relocated. 5 1/2 months later I have this huge bill but no longer had My Custom Rear end that was a posi. Gear ratio changed and 2 days after picking up my truck all my transmission fluid leaked out the rear main seal. The Transmission was burned up. I had to take the truck to another shop to get it rebuilt. Look at the picture below one more problem which was found from the bad work from slater auto works. I never had any transmission problem until I got my truck back from slater. Worst customer Service Ever no communication at all. I lost my custom rear end as well. It is still at Texas Auto Gear. I was charged for things I didnt ask for. If you want good Quality Honest Work Stay away From Slater. I honestly dont mind paying for great work but thats not what you will get at Slater. Maybe in the past he had a great reputation but This is Current day Experience. Beware too many problems have come from some simple leaks. So much Hard Earned Money Wasted for selecting a bad Shop. Truck is in the Shop again Getting the Universal Joint replaced and the rear main seals replaced. Look at the pictures on the drive shaft notice how much of the yoke is inserted and where its supposed to be. Thanks for Nothing but Problems Slater. Highly Recommend everyone to stay away from SLATER AUTO WORKS. Not sure how he stays in business ripping people off like this.

I have been coming to Slaters since I moved into the area in 2009. Ive had nothing but Great experiences with Slaters Auto Works. Theyve always been up front and fair when quoting prices to me. Im not sure why people are giving negative reviews but I know that Im my personal experiences Ive never been dissatisfied with the quality of work here. You may find lower prices at other shops, but the quality of work you get will always be equal to what you pay. I will continue to use Slaters and I highly recommend them to anyone in the area looking for quality work at a fair price.

This may have just been a bad day/time for them, but when I stand in the lobby, make eye contact with at least three different people in the shop ( a female, an older gentleman [owner?] and a younger person dressed as a mechanic), and noone bothers to come in and say, Hey, we will be with you in a sec, we are are helping another customer right now (which I figured out probably was happening, as I left), is a red flag.Place looked clean, obviously family run because of the vintage collections, had a kids play area, etc. etc.Judging from the signage, probably not the cheapest place, but your vehicle will be fixed correctly, again IMHO.Also saw alot of vintage vehicles on the racks which lets me know they are trusted in the community.If you see this as 2 star rating, know I am perplexed and want to give it a 3 star. But, if you dont see me rate it as a 3+ star, its because I didnt get any work actually done there because they couldnt bother.

My experience with Slater’s has always been excellent. I have been coming to his shop since he first opened and have consistently received excellent service at a very fair price. In addition to their high-quality work, I especially appreciate their honesty. This is a trait that is hard to find with most car repair shops. Trust is a big thing with me, so I will not take my cars anywhere else for service.

This review is way past due.Cant say enough good things. The staff was absolutely wonderful. Explained problems I had with another dealership and without really having to say much, They took my Mustang in and fixed the problems I was having with the rear end for a reasonable price. And Mr Slater went over and beyond finding the problem. He would not release it till it was fixed right and didnt gouge me on price. Thank you so much. i will be a long time customer, I am so blessed...... thank you again

Absolutely wonderful!!! I took my car to Slater’s after being told by another mechanic that my car was on its last leg and to fix it, it would cost me upwards of $1600. Slater personally took me into the garage and showed me what the other mechanics were saying verses what was true. The price to fix what was actually wrong was less than half of the other guys and that included an alignment and an oil change with a high mileage filter. This is a mechanic you can trust, he will show you what he is doing and why and how to maintain your vehicle properly! More than 5 stars!!!!

Do not go here! Unless you have deep pockets. They will agree to a price then throw in a bunch of extras on you. ( well the car needed it you wouldn’t be able to drive it home) paid well over 3000 to do a simple motor swap that I provided the motor for. Was quoted 1700- 2000 which I thought was high but the reviews were so great and I saw that he specializes in mustangs. Well, paid him some money to get started had motor delivered car sat which was fine I said take your time. Checked on it weekly and it was not being worked on they threw everything together last minute. I’m still finding things loose and unplugged car has broke down and stranded me 3 times due to their lack of pride in their work. Charged me for other items that I did not approve just stuck me with a large bill and said well I did the right thing it had to be done. So be specific if u get work done here.

I get my car inspected here every year. They do a great job taking extra care with my Custom 50th Anniversary Mustang GT, and have never taken more than 20 minutes to inspect my car. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them.

Took my Ford explorer to so many places and nobody could make my vehicle blow cold air. Talking to a buddy of mine, he recommended Slaters to me. Took it there the next day and I found a very friendly place. Patty helped the process to be fast and easy. It turned out to be a very simple problem. Was disappointed that they wanted to charge &90 dollars for oil changeThey told me that they change all the oils thats why its so expensive.We will be taking our cars elsewhere from now on.

Had issues with a couple other shops having availability to diagnose the problem and work on it. Brought my car to Slaters on a recommendation from a co-worker. They had no problem getting the vehicle in, had it diagnosed with a cost within 2 hours of me dropping it off and called me less than 24 hours later to notify me that it was ready. Very pleased with the staff and service, very personable and trustworthy people. Would highly recommend them and will be using them in the future if I ever need any work done.

The employees are very professional, knowledgeable, and fair. I called very early this morning inquiring about vehicle inspections, and stopped by around 8:45am to get a (last minute) inspection on my car. It only took 15 minutes, and they supplied me information and paperwork on assistance with help paying for my repairs. My toddler son came with me, and one of the employees offered him a box of cinnamon toast crunch (one of those little individually wrapped, one serving boxes) :) Very nice people. They are now my official go-to mechanics.

Honest and competent. My son was visiting from Austin this weekend when his pickup started running rough. Id used Slaters before, and they were open on Saturday so we took the truck in. They got him back on the road (spark plug wire burned through) the same day. No drama, no oversell, just fixed what was broken.

I took my 2011 E Class Mercedes Benz to them to install my daytime running lights. Mr. Slater only charged me $20. My turn up on my Mercedes Benz car will be under $400 . Mr. Slater uses nothing but Mercedes Benz parts if thats what you want to go back on your car he uses the manufactory part. The labor is so much cheaper then going to a Mercedes-Benz dealership and youll get the same quality work with qualify warranty.

The location is perfect, the staff is great and Ive always left a happy customer.

I took my truck into a Brake Check and a Goodyear some six months back or so. They both preached that I needed to change my brakes out immediately.Took it to Slaters today and had my alignment done. Also asked Mike if he would check the brakes as well. Mike Kule at the desk was honest and told me I had 10-15% left. I shop and spend my money with businesses that are upfront and honest. I have stopped in to get advice and to have work done on several of my cars. They did a safety inspection for vehicle registration and brought it back out so fast I was caught off guard. :)

The place used to be great, back when slater was around more. But I recently took my vehicle in to get it inspected for a door lock malfunction. They didnt figure it out and they told me my lower control arms were bad.Long story short, I had my suspicions, I took it to another place, they told me that the bolts had been loosened recently, given that they were clean and the rest of the arm was dirty.The staff there tried to potentially total my truck.Never going back, and neither is my fam. Most dishonest thing ive ever seen.

Ive been going to Slaters Auto Works for several years now for all my car repairs. I have always found them to do good quality work. They are not the cheapest, no good place ever is. But they will stand behind everything that they do. They have always been very friendly and willing to help get your vehicle back to you as soon as possible. If you have to wait on a repair they have a nice comfortable waiting room, with clean rest rooms. And if you need a ride home when you drop your vehicle off, they will do that. And come pick you up when its ready to go.I also want to add that my wife also feels comfortable going to Slaters. She has told me on several past occasions that she feels confident about the repairs they recommend to her. And is satisfied that when she goes to Slaters she is told the truth about what needs to be done to her car..In the past at other auto repair shops my wife always felt like she was being fed a line of B.S.(because she is a woman) and then overcharged for car repairs (which may or may not have been necessary to begin with). Im sure other women have encountered that same type of experience with other repair shops themselves.Because of her positive experience with Slaters she has also recommended them to her other family members and her friends.My experience today is a good example. I went to Slaters with a squeak in the front end of my vehicle that has been driving my wife and I both crazy. I told them at the counter what I was hearing in my cars front end. At that time Slater came out to the parking lot and while I rocked the vehicle to force it to make the noise Slater crawled around under the front end until he found the location of the squeak. A little shot of lube and it was done, and I was on my way. No fuss, no muss, and no charge. And I certainly cant say that about many of the other shops that I have dealt with in the past.This is what I recommended to everyone. Go here to get your vehicle fixed at a reasonable price and in a reasonable time frame by honest and friendly people. As a customer, what more can you ask for from this business, or any other business? Check them out and see for yourself !

Visited Slaters for the first time today . Got the usual maintaince plus inspection and they replaced a vent motor in the dashboard. If you own a Muatang whatever year. This is the place. Foget the the dealer.

When I went to pick up my car and paying a $807 bill. I was expecting my car to be ready as per the phone call. When I inspected the job, my car wasnt right. I was told thats how it is because I brought the parts. So instead of them calling me, my car was not put to gather correctly. After questioning the owner he got VERY mad at me at said Im so mad I feel like punching out your teeth!!! WOW FYI dont ask questions s if you want to get your teeth punched OUT!!!!! I have since then went to Houston Performance and got the quality and professionalism I should have gotten the first go-around I urge everyone not to go to this place.

I trusted my Ford Cobra and Lightning to them for repair and general maintenance. The sad fact is that the new people working there arent near a good as the old people. Both of my SVT vehicles needed to go back after a repair to be redone or completed. I even had to help diagnose one repair after a tech was cutting a wire loom apart that wasnt needed. An AC repair took three trips and I believe they burned up my three year old AC compressor as they burned up its replacement by over charging the system during the second visit. The third trip in for the AC they told me the tech had over charged the system with the new AC compressor on the second repair visit. Sure makes me think they over charged it during the first visit !So I am not taking my SVT cars back for repair here after a long history of great service I have lost confidence in this repair shop in 2018.

First time there was charged more than quoted on the phone. Went the second time because the same engine light was still on after repairs. They never call to update progress. After calling once and being told they were still working on my vehicle I finally called back to find out they were closed for the evening. My vehicle was stuck there without any notice that i would not get my vehicle back. I really dont think anyone there cares.

This is the worst mechanic you could possibly go to, terrible customer service, very rude people, also charged me $480 to change a hose leaking coolant, and when i left it was still leaking, i ended up just fixing it myself. Do not trust the reviews either because most of them are from the workers.

Man I wish I would have read the reviews here before visiting them. Im just going to say Im sorry for all the people in the future who might get suckered into bringing their car here. If you do, drive off the lot now, it will save you some time, heartache, and definitely money. It only takes one bad experience but I came in here naive not knowing what competitive prices were for car inspections and so on, and I got suckered into being charged $173 for just labor. Not the parts-just labor! If you see an outlandish and overly priced number on your sheet, raise that eyebrow and ask them why the f*&$ does labor cost so high. I will never step into Slaters or any other Slaters ever again, and will steer all my friends and family to more fair and reputable auto mechanics. Sorry to say but these guys just want your money, better to take it someplace else.
