I’ve been at Sunset Bay for 7 years and I can’t say enough good things about the marina and it’s staff. Cheryl is always the happy voice on the phone getting you what you need. Safe Harbor is lucky to have Paul Bilbo in charge there. He goes above and beyond to help everyone out to keep you boating. An outstanding marina and staff!

I have been a member for 3 years. This is a great location based on the convenience to most spots in Boston Harbor as well as the open ocean. The slips are much wider than most, and you are able to get out from any slip no matter the tide. The docks are clean and well maintained, with the bonus of a fillet station. The staff are courteous, always available, and helpful, and have gone above and beyond for me on many occasions. Cheryl runs the office operations very efficiently and is always willing to help in any way she can. Jason and Matt are attentive and prompt to any mechanical issue. Bob truly cares about his marina and is continuously making improvements, on his own and by suggestion. The fellow boaters are friendly and there is a true family feel on the docks. Overall, this is a great place to spend the summer.

The people make the marina experience. Help when you need it, and I often do. Prompt attention, knowledgeable staff, given with a smile. The slips are new, the gas dock is really convenient and a real plus, allows more time on the water. Having a mechanic on site is also great.Other marinas offer similar services, but Sunset Bay does it better.

Sunset Bay is an amazing marina in a beautiful location. My wife and I spend at least a few nights a year on a transient slip and are considering docking there year round. The staff at the Marina is always so friendly and helpful. Can not wait to get back to Sunset Bay this Spring and Summer.

I have kept my boat at Sunset Bay Marina for five years now. The docks are twice as wide as my previous marina. Bob Folsom has put a tremendous amount of work into the property and it shows! The staff is always friendly and help. I particularly like the fact that Bob Folsoms kids help run the family business. It is refreshing to see a successful small business in this economy.

Sunset Bay Marina has great ownership, they are always looking to improve the facility, the staff is always friendly and attentive and willing to assist with any request or issue. Great young people man the gas dock, attend to the boat slips, the office staff is super friendly and efficient, and we have been thrilled with the experience for the past 4 summers.

Stay away from Sunset Bay Marina! If you are looking for a facility that will treat you with professionalism and common courtesy, this is NOT the place. They do not understand how to communicate, coordinate, or even treat people fairly. I had purchased a boat from a private seller that had leased dock space at this marina for multiple years, and had a current lease that was not to expire any time soon. The experience we had in trying to re-locate the boat from this marina to another state was ridiculous. I’ve never dealt with a more rude, non-responsive marina that even went so far as to steal the boat keys. Not only did I feel scammed by this marina (yes, they tried to milk extra money from the haul out by changing plans with no notice until the hauler called to confirm pickup), but I was so uncomfortable with the vessel staying at the marina that I had to rent a vehicle to drive there and actually drive the boat out of there to another location to re-schedule the hauling. The owner of sunset bay marina refused to provide an explanation as to the change in plans. DO NOT USE THIS MARINA UNLESS YOU ENJOY BAD BUSINESS. Ive never experienced a marina that operated like this.

Great place to store your boat! Its very close to the housing in Hull, and its on the side of Hull facing towards Boston so you dont have to go all the way around Hull. Also, Local 02045 is very close so you can take a bite to eat before you go boating.

Sunset Bay is a great marina. Its location allows a short run to Boston, the Harbor Islands and out to Stellwagon. The SeaDog pub is right on site so you dont have to drive if you have some drinks. The foods good and the staff are friendly and know you by name. But a great marina is about the people. The staff is fantastic and will do anything they can to help and most have boats at the marina. Cheryl in the office, is incredible and often helps out when shes not working and really puts a great effort in contacting people and planning events. Dave, Jason and the other staff are always eager to help and are very friendly even when asked for help in their off hours. The other boaters are also extremely helpful. You cant walk down the dock without getting a hello and offers of food and drink. When you come in there is always staff or other boaters waiting and eager to help you tie up. If you boats down for repairs, you get offers to join others to get out on the water. They share an wealth of knowledge on fishing, boating and partying.I guess the best endorsement is to say that I have been here several years and hope to continue as long as I have a boat.

Susan (my wife) and I keep our boat at Sunset Bay Marina. We have been boating in New England for 25 years and this is our favorite marina. The staff and fellow boaters make for a fun family atmosphere. The marina includes a gas dock, restaurant, large docks, and full service boating repair and maintenance. We store our boat with them for the winter and they help us with preparing it for the spring launch.Looking forward to the spring of 2015 and boating out of Sunset Bay Marina. Cant wait to see what summer attractions theyll be putting on next year (this year included a fishing tournament and an on the water live band). Reggae brunch at the restaurant makes for a great weekend.

Sunset Bay Marina in Hull, Ma is an excellent place to call your home port or visit during the summer. Everything from the location, the staff, and the marina members make keeping our boat at Sunset one of the best decisions we’ve made.Bob and his staff are always willing to do whatever is necessary to make sure we enjoy every day on the water and have helped us from learning how to boat, making repairs, assisting in tying up to the dock when we return, and providing fuel. The marina also sponsors events which is a great way to get to know the other members. Additionally, what really makes Sunset unique is the breath taking views of the Boston skyline and the onsite brew pub.Going into our 4th year, we are looking forward to another summer of boating and great times at Sunset Bay.

One of the better put together marinas both in Hull, and even in MA. I dont usually spend much time in Hull but when I had to dock up for a night with the family, I was given some treatment! A personal grill brought down to my boat, chairs and floaties for the kids, and a great recommendation to spend the day on Nantasket beach! They will gladly fill your boat up for a price that might seem high at first but turns out to be the most convenient option 30 miles outside of Boston Harbor. Great place to stay, eat, get a drink, or even just fill up with gas... will definitely be coming back!

I dont know why anyone would write such negative drivel about the management & employees of Sunset Bay Marina. I have seen them provide service to the marine community that has ranged from helpful to heroic and ALWAYS in good spirit.I am not one of their biggest customers, but they have always taken good care of me, as well as, my boat... Such an improvement over the way this facility used to be!Its not a perfect location, though. Its exposure to the brisk autumn westerly winds make for bumpy dockage, late in the season. Make sure to use heavy duty cordage & fenders in September & October. But, to be sure, the crew at Sunset Bay keeps an eye out, during heavy weather withextra lines and docking fenders.I have, and will continue to recommend this facility to my friends.

As another reviewer posted, I too wish that summers in our area are longer. We have had our boat at Sunset Bay Marina for the past 6 years and counting. There have been changes, all for the better. The docks are wide, stable and provide ample space for dock boxes and other equipment as well as for people and the dogs. The marina is situated perfectly. It is in an area close to just about everything. One can make it to Worlds End in a short time and going into Boston is a short ride as well. The harbor islands are all accessible from the marina as is Nantasket Beach and the fishing grounds. The people at the marina make it. All of the employees from the owner down are extremely friendly and will go out of their way to help. All of the staff are there to make you feel welcome and assist. You can be sure that when you pull into the marina, either staff or other marina members will be there, ready to assist you in docking, helping with the lines et cetera. Jason and Matt are the main go-to guys for anything and everything mechanical. These guys offer help and advice when they are working or not, as they have boats at the marina and are always available. The owner, Bob, is always available and if he is not, Dave, his son, is. Cheryl, the woman that runs the office and keeps the place going is incredible. She works tirelessly, running the office, keeping up with staff and who is working when and she is always planning marina events that are fun and involve everyone. When she is not working, Cheryl is found on her boat, with her husband, Jim, cooking and in general, is the matriarch of the marina, and even though she is not officially on the clock, she is always there to help. The dock staff, including Dillon, Joshua, Sarah, Jess and Nick, are always there to help you dock, bring ice, or on the gas dock. Dillon, Joshua and Nick also run boaters out to their boats on moorings in the marina launch, at a moment’s notice, as would Dave, Bob or Jason. The people at Sunset Bay Marina are so totally friendly. If you are out on the boat or just sitting at the marina in your slip, it is always a friendly and party mood. People cook and offer tasty treats and beverages and all are welcome. The people at the marina are always saying hi to everyone that walks by and food and drinks are always offered. In one case, when I accidentally dropped my eye glasses into the water while helping a boat dock, another member, Wayne, went home, retrieved his scuba gear, returned to the marina and dove for my glasses, finding them right away. It should be noted that another boat owner, Jim, also offered to drive back to his home and get his scuba gear but Wayne’s gear was closer. We plan to continue to have our boat at Sunset Bay Marina for a long time to come. Thanks to all for making boating fun

My husband and I have been members of Sunset Bay Marina since 2008. This is the best well kept secret south of Boston. The views of Boston are spectacular. Easy dockage, with a friendly and accommodating dock staff . Our friends had a slip at the Marina recommended it to us. After meeting, Bob Folsom the owner who was exceptionally nice and gave us the cooks tour we were sold. Its a family owned business, and Bobs son David will go over and above to make sure that your needs are met.Its our slice of paradise, we are weekend live aboards in season and we love it. Only a 10 minute boat ride to Boston, Sunset Bay Marina provides instant access to open water and the the Boston Harbor Islands. And, if you want fun, drinks, a good meal and a spectacular sunset, just head up to Sea Dog Brew Pub at the Marina;the staff at the Sea Dog is terrific. The fun doesnt stop their, thats just the beginning, there are all sorts of Dock and On-Water Parties throughout the season so make sure you follow them on Facebook, theyll keep you posted on the events.Weve visited lots of Marinas and have been members of others. There is no other Marina that is as fun, relaxing and caring about its members and visitors than Sunset Bay Marina. Their service staff led by Jason Parker is outstanding and attentive and John Doucette who runs the paint and Fiberglass operation is a master at his craft. Not only is Sunset Bay Marina #1 Fun Boating Destination south of Boston, they can also service everything you need for your boat. Come and experience it for yourself and I guarantee youll love it.

AVOID SUNSET BAY MARINAHorrible people take your money and then you are on your own.Paid them for a transient slip - put us in a horrible place - at the end of the dock. For what we paid should have been given an inside slip - there were plenty of openings.Due to high winds decided to stay an additional night and switch to a mooring. No one could be found on the dock and no one answered on channel 7.Next day the boat came off the dock - bow line was worn but spring line and stern line were in perfect shape. They lied to the harbor master that boat was there illegally. When confronted they did not have the guts to look me in the eye - but did acknowledge that the boat was paid.

Im not sure what it is about the Marine Trades which makes getting work done often an unpleasant experience and almost always too expensive and over budget. If you own a boat and seek the help of others to keep up with its never ending list of maintenance tasks, you know what I am talking about. On the too rare occasion when you find a marina and / or tradesman that competitively bids a project, performs the work on-time and on-budget they deserve to be recognized. So with that in mind, let me add a hearty endorsement of Sunset Bay Marina and its staff reflecting the great experience I have had so far. This year I decided to have a number of projects completed which included mechanical, electrical as well as interior appliance replacement. I wouldnt call it a major refit - it is more like a minor refit but none the less a reasonable amount of work is involved - at least enough to get the Admirals attention. I made contact with all my favorite and not so favorite tradesman, riggers and electricians about my projects. I soon realized that just managing this process was going to take years off my life trying to coordinate and make things happen. It was at that time the light bulb finally came on and I decided to hang on to my sanity and give all the projects to a single source. After contacting many full-service marinas and either not getting a call back or gagging at the rates, I settled on Sunset Bay Marina.Lets face it, for many of us our boats are like our children - expensive and temperamental. But if they need something we want to make sure they get the best care and that we are kept informed all along the way. Such is the experience I have received from Sunset Bay Marina. Whenever I felt the need to speak directly with the personnel working on my boat, I have been able to do that and have always been afforded enough time so that I fully understood what was going on.As a customer what do we want. We want a marina and / or tradesman to give us a competitive bid, a realistic time frame and the quality of work commensurate with the price we are being asked to pay. We dont need the cheapest price. We have all heard the axiom The bitterness of poor quality last far longer than the sweetness of low price. We want to be kept informed as to the progress and we dont want big surprises when the bill comes. If that happens you know youre either being screwed or your dealing with someone to incompetent to have given a qualified bid in the first place - either way, it isnt good. If you are going make a mistake and put a screw through my hull, make it right and dont give me one excuse after another and leave me hanging right before the short boating season begins (Yes - you know who are). In a word, we want to be treated fairly. To be honest, I cant really speak authoritatively on the quality of work as I live in New Hampshire and Sunset Bay is in Hull and Im buried under 10 of snow so cant get down that often. But, I have no worries about that. I am fully confident that Sunset will stand by their work and do whatever is necessary to insure my satisfaction. Thats just the feeling you come away with when you work with Sunset and it is what others have attested to. You see, this is a business that wants my business and youre business too. Its a little refreshing actually - as so many others in the marine trades just dont leave you feeling like you mean anything to them.So in conclusion, if you need some work done on your boat by a competent team of professionals at a fair price I would recommend giving Sunset an opportunity to bid on your project. I think you too will be pleased with what you find.
