Jack came by a couple weeks ago to assess an issue with squirrels running up and down the chimney. We called Jack for a chimney cap but he explained caps dont work too well where we live, but a screen would do fine. This was on a Saturday and he was back the following Monday morning and installed one. Not only did he save us money and fix the problem, he was incredibly friendly and sincere. Im glad we called his company. If you dont, you dont know Jack!

Last summer I decided to install a gas fireplace in my house to heat the home in case of a power outage and provide heat to the three-season porch. After getting the runaround with two other fireplace companies, I discovered Jack Hills Stove Shop right here in town and spoke with Jack - what a refreshing difference! Jack listened to what I wanted and created the perfect see-through fireplace. He and his team worked tirelessly to make sure everything was perfect. And in February when the fireplace didnt start during a power outage, I texted him to see what hed suggest...and he was here in 10 minutes to look at the issue. He swapped out the batteries in the starter and I was up and running again in no time. Jack takes service seriously and really makes sure his customers are happy. Highly recommend!

We had to wait several weeks before Jack visited us to replace a chimney cap and investigate the possibility of a squirrel nest in our chimney liner. The fall is one of his busiest times, but we were very fortunate to have Jack work on our stove, liner and cap issues. He is superb, he works very efficiently, and frankly, he is the best!

Jack and his crew did an excellent job installing a wood burning stove at our home and we passed inspection without any problems. Jack was helpful every step of the way from the in-home consultation to the install. Jack even invited us to his home to show us his fireplace and then took us over to his store to finalize the design. Jack will make sure the job is done right. Hes a hard worker and a great entrepreneur running his own business. Well continue to have Jack be our go-to chimney guy and hell always do our annual chimney sweep cleanings.

I had a great experience with Jack Hills company. Jack came and installed a Napoleon gas insert into an existing wood burning fireplace. Everything was done exceptionally and was left cleaner then it was before. Jack also made a recommendation to fix some work for us at top of the chimney done by a previous contractor. We appreciated his advice and gave him that work also! Would recommend for anything to do with masonry and fireplaces of any kind! Look forward to working with him for our future & maintenance work!

I can’t even begin to tell you how enraged I am. This wasn’t even my situation so much as my friend’s but I am so appalled that I feel compelled to tell the story. My friend hired and scheduled an appointment with Mr. Hill 2 weeks in advance. She then asked me to come by and wait for the chimney sweep. I planned to arrive 15 minutes before his scheduled time just to be on the safe side. About an hour and a half before the scheduled appointment time, Jack called my friend at work. He left a message saying he had finished his previous job early and he was wondering if he could come by earlier. She was tied up at work and sent me a text message with his phone number asking me to reach out to him. I IMMEDIATELY reach out to Jack. The phone went to voicemail so I left a message stating I live in the neighborhood and was heading over to the house, I’ll be there momentarily, feel free to head over! Less than 5 minutes after I left that voicemail, I arrived at my friend’s house. I sat on the couch in complete silence while I waited for Jack to arrive. Now remember, I raced over there so he could come early. It is about a half an hour before the scheduled appointment time and I receive a text from my friend saying that she received an email from Mr. Hill’s secretary stating he needed to reschedule because no one was at the house when he arrived. I WAS THERE THE ENTIRE TIME!!!!! I am mediately call Mr. Hill’s cell phone. He answers and I tell him I that I have been waiting for him at the house but my friend received an email that you arrived and no one was there and you need to reschedule? Also it is still a half an hour before the SCHEDULED time. He says “ya i was over there, left a message but no one got back to me so now I’m not even in the area anymore”. I asked him if he knocked on the door because I was here to which he replied “well no”. I said no you did not and the appointment time has not passed so what is the problem? His response, he repeated “ya I’m not in the area anymore so I have to reschedule”. HE WAS NEVER THERE!!! Long story short, and this has been a long story! HE LIED! Hope you had a nice afternoon off Jack. She will not be rescheduling!

Jack did a great job installing our new gas fireplace. He is friendly and knowledgable. Our neighbors recommended him after he installed a wood stove for them. We had a few minor issues after the fireplace was installed and Jack dealt with them quickly.

We spoke to several local places about replacing our gas fire place and Jack was clearly the most knowledgeable .He delivered and installed our new system as promised and saved us a few thousand dollars. We are thrilled with what we have now just in time for the cooler nights and cold mornings. If youre considering a gas fireplace you owe to yourself to at least talk to Jack..A 10 out of 10 or in this case 5 stars plus!

Very honest. We have a wood stove and scheduled a chimney cleaning. He showed up right on time and looked over the stove and checked the chimney outside. He then told us that they were clean and did not need to be cleaned. He could easily have done a cursory cleaning and charged the full fee. There was no charge at all for the visit. If you are looking for an honest business I highly recommend.

Jack Hill is the best. We had an issue with our fireplace that we needed fixed in time for hosting Christmas. He showed up exactly when he said he would, diagnosed the problem, ordered the part (an exhaust fan) and had it installed all in a matter of days. That in itself was exceptional customer service, but then Jack went way above the call of duty when the electrician needed to get up on our roof to complete the installation. Jack returned and set-up the scaffolding so the electrician could access the roof. When that electrician failed to show, Jack returned a second time to erect the scaffolding for the replacement electrician -- even though it was Christmas Eve and even though Jacks part of the job had been completed. I highly recommend Jack, not only because he knows everything about fireplaces and chimneys, but because he has impeccable customer service.

Had my chimney relined a few years ago cermanic to steel liner. His team found my chimney wasnt vented correctly, didnt increase the rate of the initial quote to do the extra work. They were nice, fast and reliable and would totally use them again.**If I could rate Jack Hills work again I would, 5 stars again. My chimney cap must have blown off in a wind storm, I found it hidden between my trees and deck, asked to have someone come and replace it he had someone out same day!! Amazing! He and his crew do a great job!!

After a true year plus long runaround from a well known company, I called Jack Hills based on a recommendation from my neighbor.Within a half an hour, my 15 year old Napoleon gas insert stove was up and running. Mr. Hills was punctual, listened, asked questions. He is a true problem solver. I also asked if he wouldn’t mind restarting another insert, a simple fix but one I couldn’t do easily. He was very kind, happy to do it.The price for all was half of what was quoted by the elusive other company who really were trying to get me to buy a new insert.Mr. Hills has a client in me and when my stove does need to be replaced, I will purchase from him.He’s the real deal.

After his inspection, he found that my flue did not need cleaning. I found Jack to be an honest man, who did not charge me anything! At the beginning of this month, I called Jack about a problem I was having with my propane gas stove and explained to him that my wife had a baby earlier that week and I was desperate to have the stove fixed as soon as possible. We set up a date for him to come out but I was shocked when he called me back saying he could come days earlier than expected. He came out and was professional and quickly figured out the problem with the stove. Unfortunately, a part had to be ordered so he was unable to fix it for good at that moment but he came back the following week, fixed the problem which was a venting issue, and now my stove works great. His price was very very reasonable especially considering the fact that I flat out told him Id pay anything to have the stove fixed because of our new baby, he couldve pulled the wool over my eyes but he is honest and a true knowledgeable professional in his field. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone in the south shore area.

My wife and I want to thank Jack for reacting so quickly to an emergency call. We had soot damage and did not know if it was from our chimney or furnace. Jack came and completed the work I had asked to be done cleanly and efficiently. We had Jack Hill out to clean our chimney flues. He was very efficient from my call to make an appointment to his punctual arrival at my house. Jack is very friendly and professional. He not only cleaned the chimney but gave us great advice on how to keep our 2 pellet stoves running well all winter. I would highly recommend Jack Hill and will use him for all our heating needs.

Jack Hill came to our home to clean our pellet stove. That morning the pellet stove, which heats our home, was running fine. He was scheduled for 1:00 that day, so I shut the stove off about 10:30 so that it would have time to cool down before he arrived. He arrived with one other man and was there for about 35 minutes. He was rather short with me when asking if I knew how to clean it the right way.So he leaves, I go to turn the stove on... doesn’t work!! I immediately call Jack to ask if he knows why it may not be turning on. He was immediately aggravated and reluctantly said, “ugh I will be back in a little bit” and hung up. Showed up 30 minutes later, pulled the stove back out and said “sometimes things just break”! I said it just doesn’t make sense as it was working perfect before you came and cleaned it. He was unable to figure it out and claims that something with the electrical box must have coincidentally broke. He told us he would try and be in touch with someone who services our brand stove and be in touch. 3 days go by and he said no luck. I called him back and he was talking over me saying that he didn’t break my stove and it’s our problem! Told him we didn’t think it was right and he should try and figure this out. Repeated again it wasn’t his fault and swore and me and hung up!! Awful customer service!!!UPDATE!!We had another company come out to look at our stove that stopped working as soon as Jack left... sure enough it was his fault! He jammed wires into the motor when he pushed the stove back in as well as not cleaning any of the components. And to boot... when calling around for places to come and look at it, when mentioning Jack Hills name, they all knew of him from other customers complaining about his customer service and work. So yes it was Jack’s fault. And funny he never mentioned anything about not purchasing a Quadra fire pellet stove while he was in my home. Don’t waste your money having him clean your stove!!

Jack Hill is AWESOME! He has been cleaning our chimney and wood stove for about 10 years now and is very knowledgeable and really great about giving us the knowledge to get the best out of our wood stove. I wont go anywhere else.

I bought a stove from Jack Hill last year. When I started it up for this year’s heating season, I needed help getting it going again. (Nothing was wrong with the stove - user error.). Jack came out to my house and helped me VERY QUICKLY.In an age when customer service seems to be a rarity, I cannot recommend Jack Hill highly enough.You won’t go wrong with his products or his customer service.

Chimney sweep - Jack has done a great job cleaning and servicing our wood stove for many years. He is very conscientious and gives our stove a careful inspection each year. In addition, he arrives on time and cleans up when he is done! Always feel better when I know he has looked it over before the burning season.Masonry - We had a cement block step to our home that we hated. Jack suggested a stone and stucco refinishing which greatly improved the look of the steps while staying within our limited budget. The steps have held up really well to traffic and weather. I appreciated that he looked for an economical solution to our problem!

Excellent service and results. They sold us and installed a wood insert stove that looks great and heats the whole house. We had a Recency at our previous house, but we like the Napoleon and would recommend it to anyone. They also found that my furnace exhaust pipe was not up to code which explains why the carbon monoxide alarm would go off occasionally. They re-piped the exhaust and did some maintenance on the two existing chimneys. The prices beat previous work done by other companies at our previous house. The service was 100% better, we found our go-to mason.

We used Jack Hill to install a wood burning stove between July 2015 and December 2015. That duration of time is how long it actually took Mr Hill to complete the work.Mr Hill came to quote is survey the job in July, at which time we explained in detail what we wanted. No problem, we were told. And then we waited until November, which seemed like a long time, but it was fine. During the wait, we installed the tile pad and bought the stove.When Mr Hill arrived to install the stove, he seemed confused. He claimed not to have the manual, which we had sent him; he told us the tile was in the wrong place. I was confused because of course we had discussed the placement, so it was odd he should bring it up at so late a time. He started to tell me where the stove would be better placed and that is when things unraveled.After much insulting from Mr Hill about our being stupid, he finally got to work and I retreated upstairs, confused by his demeanor. Hours later, I realized the stove chimney was being placed to run directly in front of a picture window. When I expressed concern, Mr Hill picked up and left without a word, leaving a hole exposing my house to the elements in the wall.Fast forward eight weeks and many calls to the town later and it turns out Mr Hill never pulled a permit and the inside of my house is being damaged by rain and snow. Ostensibly Mr Hill did not return because he lacked a necessary part for the job, but I question why he did not order it upon his first visit in July. He admitted to not pulling a permit, but only after ignoring us for weeks. He continued to insult us, threaten us, and he aggressive, which continues today because he claims we still owe him $100 and has put a lien on our home, without ever contacting us for payment.I will pray for Mr Hill and his men, who are surely not insured. I would highly caution anyone from getting involved with this aggressive, amoral man and suggest they find someone with both more scruples and know-how.

I wouldnt hesitate to recommend Jack to anyone who has a concern about the state of their chimney. We had been advised by our chimney sweep that our 200-year-old chimney was deteriorating and unsafe to use. I called Jack to ask about a poured-in concrete liner. He came by the house and did an inspection and told us the chimney sweep had given us erroneous and misleading information; that, in fact, our chimney already was concrete lined. His integrity and professionalism saved us money and worry.
