We just moved in and didnt want to use the fireplace yet since we didnt know the last time it was cleaned, if it was in good shape, etc. So I contacted Smokestack using the form on their website, and got an email back that day. I scheduled a day and time for them to come out, and the morning of my appointment I got a reminder email as well as a phone call from John, the technician, letting me know he was 15 minutes away. John was prompt, courteous, and professional. He explained the entire process, checked and cleaned the fireplace and chimney, explained the inspection results, and he left the area spic and span! I would absolutely recommend Smokestack and will call them again for future cleanings.

The job they did was decent, but their communication was terrible. I never received a report of services and called and emailed several times before hearing back 6 months later. This was only after I refused to pay until they sent me the report for which they tried to charge me $100 in late fees. Extremeleyunprofessional to spend 6 months not returning phone calls or email, not to mention never sending a report of servuces. They also wanted to conduct repairs, for ehich I never received a report, but of course received a quote. Seems like a pattern to me...

Bottom line, if you are looking to have the type of work done that Smokestack Sweep does, it would be a mistake to contact any other company.They installed a gas log set and fireplace door unit for me and even went so far as to professionally machine the solid screen mesh door brackets that came from the manufacturer so that theyd work with my particular fireplace insert. An unforeseeable problem with a professional solution.When they came back out to install the customized mesh doors, I mentioned to Mathew in casual conversation about having to privately subsidize my mothers 24/7 nursing care due to Alzheimers and other medical problems. As he was finishing up I wrote a check for the balance due and even included a $50 tip for the extra time, resources, and trips out to my place it took to customize the mesh door brackets for me.When I tried to hand him the check, he refused it and told me to use the money instead towards my mothers health care costs. I was so moved by the unexpected gesture that I was brought to tears.You can see for yourself (by the attached picture) that my fireplace turned out beautiful, and there can be no doubt they have good business ethics with a genuine desire to make their customers happy. This is the first google review I have ever written for any company, and I had no previous personal or professional connection with this company prior to this experience.The funds will be placed on my mothers account tomorrow. Needless to say I am extremely happy as a result of my interaction with this company.My fireplace looks incredible, and Matthews kind generosity, well that was just beyond anything else I have ever experienced with ANY other company, ever.Thank you so much! Had the appointment last week and I am very happy with the service. Both fireplaces were inspected and cleaned the same day. Technician was very professional and knowledgeable, answered all my question. I appreciated the fact he wore boot covers and made sure to cover the floor and clean before leaving. I also had put down some plastic over the floor before he showed st the house and he was very friendly to offer to help me put those away. In his words, his job is not done until everything is back in place. I will use their services again, and I will recommend them to anyone that needs a chimney cleaned or inspected. Just make sure you schedule well in advance as they are busy, because they are good.

Pros:They actually checked out my Chimney on a steep roof and took photos.They provided a written estimate, priced fairly.Cons:They backed out of the job when I attempted to add some relatively simple (but recommended) modifications (z flash at cap base, expansion joint between cap and flues) as well as requesting current workmans comp insurance and State of Michigan Builders license (which is required for all masonry work in Michigan).Poor communication. They never return your calls and it took over a week to get their email saying they would not proceed with doing the work after their original written estimate.I cant vouch for their work, however, the fact that they backed out over some simple contract mods and requests for current, required info makes me glad they refused my job. Best of luck to those who proceed.

They are quite busy and we got an appointment about 5 weeks later. They scheduled a time to be here and were here within the appointed time. Matt did a very good job of cleaning our chimney and explaining what he was doing. I would have given them 5 stars but for the cancelled appointment. I recommend them and will use them in the future.

Absolutely awesome to deal with. Another well known company required $219 just to come give me an estimate- non refundable- so if they had wanted an outrageous price for a simple chimney cap install, I’d have to put the estimate fee toward overpriced service, or lose that money. NOT the case with Smokestack! Free estimate, super friendly on the phone and in person. Prices for a simple cap replacement were extremely reasonable and more than fair. I appreciated having my options laid out clearly and concisely. Highly recommend these guys and have already told family and friends. Thanks!

We just moved into a new home and thought we were going to have to replace the clothes dryer that came with the purchase of our house. It took 2-3 cycles to dry each load. Such a waste. We did a little research and thought we would try getting the vents cleared out. So glad we did!!Matt came highly recommended by a friend, so I had him come out. He was very polite, explained what he was going to do and it worked! He spent at least an hour doing a very thorough job of clearing out all that was trapped in our dryer venting system. He showed me what he removed and no wonder the dryer didnt work!After the job was completed, our dryer has been running very well! Like new! It saved us so much money in electricity and not having to buy a new dryer. I just made an appointment for Matt to come out and take care of our chimney! Great work!

Matt and his team do a great job! They are very personable, respectful, knowledgeable, truly care about your home and work with you to get you the best price. I was very impressed with Smokestack Sweep and I will definitely have them update my second chimney. They have cleaned both of my chimneys, upgraded one of my chimneys to a stainless steel liner with an easy to use flu and new damper. They really take the time to make sure things are done right the first time and they are great at making sure your home will not get dirty from the work that needs to be done. I am truly impressed. Ive used their service for a few years now so Im qualified to tell you they are awesome. Im fortunate enough to keep getting the same technician, Zach. That young man is thorough, knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. Chimneys are not something you want to mess around with and Zach gives me peace of mind every season. Needed some masonry work done on my chimney as bricks were falling off. Was a tear-down to roof line and rebuild to code. They did a great job. Quote was right, showed when they said they would, and the work was solid. When up to check it. Very, nice angles were square, courses were straight and level. Super impressed. I was referred to Smokestack Sweeps by Rockford Chimney Supply as a quality sweep to install a new chase cover, that Rockford manufactures, but does not install. They fell far short of my expectations in terms of no show and lack of phone communication. They were supposed to come out the week of 10/7/18, but were a no show. I will call Rockford Chimney Supply to let them know this, and maybe get a few more names.

I cant vouch for their service, Im sure their fine. However, Id recommend for you to train your drivers in the act of patience. Instead of pulling out directly in front of me as I went nearly 45 mph, maybe you should try waiting as you almost crashed us both and I almost got rear ended for slamming my brakes for you.

We had birds move into our chimney during the summer, but couldnt have the chimney cleaned until after the babies left the nest. We called Smokestack Sweep and met Matt the owner who cleaned the chimney and fireplace. he also placed caps on our chimney so no other critters would move in and to protect the inside of the chimney. He was very thorough and professional. We would definately call Smokestack Sweep again if needed and i have already recommended them to a friend.

Was looking for a very specific repair.... thus my reviewWe have a high-steeped 2 story house (new home purchased 1 year ago) and was having what we were told was a likely chimney leak. We had a roofer come in and determine our flashing around the chimney base was secure. So must be in the tall chimney that was surrounded by decorative wood slats that were coming undone and apart. After seeing what this company advertised as what they do for others (especially chimney repair at the top) when so many others said no thank you... then these guys came out. First, the communication from them was not good. I did do an on-line reservation and a phone message, but eventually got a phone message to confirm that my appt was correct - otherwise i heard nothing. Then I guess, the person came out to inspect (I wasnt home at the time) and all I got was a very short email saying that they wouldnt be able to do the repair. Thats it. Not why... what they found.. etc.. I called and got the email of the person so I could try and find out more.. and finally got a response that said that because of the steeped roof, that he wouldnt be able to do the repair as he was getting older and wouldnt be able to do the repair.... This was soo wierd. I hate leaving negative reviews, but in this case, had to do it.

They recently installed a wood burning insert into my fireplace. Very professional job. I would recommend them to everyone.

We had just moved into our new house and needed our chimney checked out. When Smokestack Sweep owner Matt came over he was professional and honest about our chimney needing to have a liner placed in it. He also went out of his way to help me find the type of stones I wanted for my outside fire pit. He found all the materials hell need to build it for me, sending me pictures of the different types of stones so I could choose. I would highly reccommend his services!

Called and made an appointment but they were a no show/no call. I had to wait 6 weeks for the earliest appointment so it was a complete waist of time. I called again and left a message but its been 3 weeks and they havent returned my call. From the reviews it sounds like this is a common problem with this company.

My experience started with a simple request for an exam and a cleaning if everything was in order. I had a technician come out to check out my situation and told me they couldn’t do anything because I needed some work done took a couple of pictures and said they would get back with me in a week. I never heard from them again until the end of the year when they were checking open invoices. The technician had been fired for customer service issues and they apologized profusely. The operator said that’s not how they do customer service and asked if they could look into my issues and they would email me back I reluctantly said ok. Well that was a month ago so I guess that is how they do customer service. I am very disappointed in them that they don’t care about a customer especially when given a second chance.Idk who Mr. Staub is but that is not me all above is exactly as I have explained. Poor customer service and assumptions.

Mathew was at my home last night and spent 1.5 hours working on the fireplace. We were having trouble with the blower motor. He was prompt and very professional. Was expecting to pay for the service call however was not charged.

I had made an appointment a week in advance and they never showed. Left work and sat at home waiting, no call no show. I tried to call in case they were lost, no response. I will be going with D&R....
