This place is OK. Ive been there 3 times for translation studies. The vibe is kinda odd b/c the office space is mostly unoccupied except for a moderator who hosts during the study. The moderators have been pretty cool and upbeat. Studies are straightforward and take about an hour. If you enjoy conversation, this spot is an easy way to make a few dollars. Id prefer if you didnt have to pay for parking in the garage.
Impressive company to work for who is truly best-of-class in every service we provide. The opportunity to support global organizations with complex language and expansion projects is fulfilling work. Colleagues all over the globe are wonderful and the company has a real family vibe. The Houston office is in a nice building in the Galleria area and provides a number of amenities. I have been with the company for 5.5 years.
This will be really long but give this a read.I worked for an one-off AI project which I am very unhappy about.1. Device(mobile) had to be delivered to my place to record my voice for the project. Someone asked at 21:40 on Sep 7th if it is okay if the device is picked up on the following day(8th). I replied 6 minutes later that I wont be indoors on the 8th so suggested 9th. However, the delivery guy came to pick up the device at 11am on the 8th when I was in the middle of a very important remote interpretation which is why I had said no to pickup on that day.It took me only 6 minutes to reply and did she not check my email? Or did she but simply decided to ignore it because she had already arranged the delivery? If so, why did she even ask me in the first place? Was she just being nice? This should not have happened, could not have and I do not understand.2. I got the loan form (for the device) only after finishing recording. Why did I not get it in the first place? Likewise, only after the device had been picked up I got payment form, NDA, independent contractor agreement and GDPR agreement/privacy policy.I understand that payment form is to be filled in after finishing recording but how comes all the agreements are to be signed after finishing recording?Because I believe its the standard procedure to sign up the agreements first so that I am aware of what Im agreeing to before taking on the task.So if someone got the recording done, only to find out that they dont want to sign the agreements, they just waste their time and Transperfect saves costs?3. Time difference could be pretty uncomfortable. There are 2 people in the team who are in Argentina and one in the US.Someone in the US once said before the device will be delivered to me on the 3rd, which made me stay indoors all day although I had to go out, However, it never did and when I mentioned this to her she said she tried to get the device sent out the day before(2nd) but things were confirmed so late. I believe this might have had to do with time difference.4. Except one person in Argentina, everyone shares one email and not everyone is following up so sometimes I am asked the same questions by different people and have to say the same things again which is inconvenient.5. I didnt get the payment by the date I had been given. Actually I had doubts all along as I still got please complete your payment info even after I submitted it. However, someone replied on Sep 25th that the payment had been processed so I waited until Oct 14th which is when I had been told the payment would arrive. However, I didnt get my payment until Oct 14th. When I asked again, unsurprisingly I was asked to submit please complete your payment info email that Id kept getting and then was told that itll take ANOTHER 12-15 days from Oct 19th. When I asked again at the end of Oct, I was told that the payment request date was Oct 20th, which I find weird as I thought it had been processed Oct 19th, and itll take up to 10-12 days.Whether its 15 days from Oct 19th or 12 days from Oct 20th I should have been able to get it by Nov 6th but nothing. They first said itll arrive by 9/30, and then from 10 working days from 9/30 but nothing until Oct 14th. And then I submitted the payment form which I was right in it having never been processed in the first place and waited AGAIN until Nov 6th but nothing.6. Eventually I emailed vendor management team and the branches involved as I was not sure who I can talk to and trust anymore. When I emailed them, I got my payment (Amazon Voucher) on the day. Actually I wrote a different email address (for Amazon voucher) on the payment form in the first place and it was sent to my email address. So I can only assume that there was something wrong with the payment form or it was processed only after my previous email was sent.No one is professional, reliable and has work ethics, a sense of responsibility and Im quite surprised Transperfect is a company like this.
TransPerfects Houston team is fantastic! They are professional, service-oriented, and the office is in a central location.
Its a fairly ok place to work.
Great
