Seeing my dads 1971 Oldsmobile 442 restored is such a great feeling to see him enjoy it again. Im happy I was able to make this happen and decided on Classic Cars of Houston. Love you guys!
Honestly the largest classic car restoration I’ve ever seen. They even have a Dedicated fab shop. Super legit.
It is really strange how things work out. I had my mustang at another shop before I found out about Classic Cars of Houston. Honestly I was blown away when I made it over to their facility and saw the sheer size of the facility. Just the amount of cars they work on at one time was shocking. I worked with Bill for the most part who runs the daily operations of the place. He initially went over the car when it was pulled from the previous workshop and came up with a game plan for me. Though we were able to use some of what was done we basically started over with my project. Make no mistake, complete restoration is expensive but I have had the car for 20 plus years and I really only wanted to do this once (excluding the start at the other shop!) Bill handled all the upgrades including disc brakes and the fuel injection. In the end the project took about a year and they bill as they go. Really just a straight up place that I would recommend anyone that truly loves their classic to visit!
I cant say enough about Classic Cars of Houston. The expertise, transparency, and expedience are unparalleled. Whenever you are dealing with a classic car there is inherently a lot of risk. Classic Cars of Houston, from the beginning, was direct, honest, and supportive. I couldnt have asked for a better experience.
I could write a book about this as my car was here for quite some time. To be fair car restoration is an extremely long process. I went in to this knowing nothing about cars really and probably still do not. My family was in possession of a 56 Buick Roadmaster Convertible since new. When it came to me finally getting the keys it was well past its prime to put it nicely. I was referred to Classic Cars of Houston by a friend who had a jag done there. After getting over the initial shock of what restoration cost I went back about a month later and had them do the works. The end result is something nicer than what I wanted but I cant fault them on that. It is just to nice to take it anywhere that I cant keep an eye on it. In the end it is more than the time capsule I could have hoped for.Respectfully,George Willis
Classic Cars of Houston to the rescue!! A few years ago I decided to relive my high school days with a 75 Stingray I purchased. It needed A LOT of help and I decided on a shop near Austin to restore/customize it for me. After almost a year the only thing they did was strip the paint... maybe I wasn’t their most exciting project but I was still a paying customer. I contacted Jeff and we discussed rescuing my car and that he did. 8 years later I still see tons of cars being rolled out of Classic Cars and I’m happy to say I have another project coming their way.
Spectacular representation of a restoration facility in Texas. Their experience and knowledge in constructing a car to its original beauty is paramount. Working with Jeff on my vehicle was a great enjoyment. I recommend this place to anyone who wants top quality.
I was referred to Classic Cars of Houston from an existing client. 2 months prior I had purchased a k5 blazer at auction. Big mistake . The motor was complete trash. The guys at Classic ripped out the old stuff and went back with a LS crate engine. Long story short is I bought a car that was mechanically horrible and took it to a place that made a reasonable road map to something I could hop in and drive. Expensive ? Yes worth it? Absolutely
Amazing selection of classic cars in great condition.
My son and I found this place online when he needed repair on his 70 Chevelle. We went by there and sadly they are not set up for small service. This place does massive restoration work on a scale I have never seen. This is the first time we had encountered a restoration facility with separate buildings and departments. Though we can’t get the Chevelle worked on if we ever do another restoration we now know the place. I think it was Ray that gave us a tour.
They were very helpful in helping me decide the direction for my build and very professional. I was given a really thorough site tour as well to help me decide what I wanted. I will definitely go back.
No one answers phone, did not make contact. Would like it very much just to be able to talked to anybody
After many roadblocks and setbacks, it was a pleasure speaking with Jeff. He provided great insight into the classic mustang market. It was refreshing getting an experts opinion without any strings attached.
Both Jeff and Matt are the most professional and knowledgeable mechanics, that I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. Excellent customer service was provide to me, throughout the entire process of doing many repairs to my 1969 Chevy Camaro. Thank you, to them both!!
They did a custom air conditioning unit for my 1979 Datsun and a world class leather interior that smells like a brand new wallet! 😁 These guys are top notch...
I recently came to Classic Cars of Houston through referral. One of my grandmothers few worldly possessions, her 71 Caprice convertible, was left to me upon her passing. After years of neglect being stored on her carport in tiny town in NE Louisiana, I decided it was time to not only go pick it up but to attempt to restore it to the luster that it once had on the day that my gram purchased it. Sun beaten and barely drivable, I brought it into Classic and discussed my desires with Jeff. It was absolutely important to me to make it look as if it had just pulled off the showroom floor ...not just repainted and ready to be sold. I wanted this to honor the woman that had done so much for me.13 months, multiple consultations, and several revisions later...my time machine to my childhood is complete.I couldn’t be happier or more grateful to Jeff and the crew at Classic for making it happen.
Amazing shop. The best work in town hands down. Jeff and his crew are amazing guys very honest and do very good work. I wouldnt take my car anywhere else. Its very hard to find people you trust in this field of work. I would definitely recommend anybody to go there.
The owner of this workshop is a really cool guy. He is a really nice perdon and he works very hard. All the people here are hard workers and its a excellent place to take your classic car to get worked on. He has a lot of experience and his work is neat.
Jeff and his team do some of the best work in town. I recently purchased 2 classic cars and they have done outstanding work to both of them on a few occasions. Even when I have had a warranty type issue, they got me right in and corrected the issue. I will continue to use Classic Cars of Houston for as long as I own classics!
Houston Classic Cars is by far a top tier shop for restorations of fine classics and muscle cars. Weve filmed at their shop many times and the pure scale and production going on at one time runs like a fine tuned machine!
Found this shop by word of mouth. We have had both restoration and mechanical work done on our 1950s era classic car. We were pleased with the work that was done and in particular with the personal attention that Jeff gives all of his customers. He truly cares about the quality of work performed and satisfying his clienteles requirements. Despite his young age, this young man has an extensive knowledge of proper restoration procedures, along with extensive mechanical knowledge necessary to achieve an award winning show car. Classic Cars of Houston is the Go To shop for your complete restoration needs.
Brought my 82 F150 here to fix the poor job done over at GAP Racing. Jeff is a top notch guy, who is very honest, knowledgeable, available, returns calls and that will answer questions. His team did a great job on getting my truck back up and running and helped me out on getting warranty work done by the previous shop. I would highly recommend Classic Cars to anyone looking for a shop to restore their vehicle
I have taken cars to Jeff and his staff for years now. Jeff has always given me the best price for the great work that his shop provides. They are honest and efficient in everything they do. I refer others to Classic Cars of Houston. You wont be disappointed... Valentine!
Jeff and the group at Classic Cars of Houston are top notch. I bought a 1967 Mustang from Jeff that they completely restored. It is an exceptional example of how these classic muscle cars can be restored and modified with modern updates. New engine, transmission, rack and pinion steering, disc brakes, etc. Topped off with show quality paint and body work. Jeff talked me through the process and help guide me to what I should spend money on and what not to spend money on to get the car that I was looking for. Very knowledgeable and easy to work with.
Jeff, I am so glad my 68 Tempest convertible is being built at Classic Cars of Houston. Building my car is a passion and dream of mine .Thanks so much for the attention my car has received since I brought it there. Its amazing the progress thats being done. Every time I come by I notice the attention to detail in the workmanship from the technicians. I look forward to the day I can drive it home. Ive never been to such a top notch shop. If you have a old classic, muscle car, or just a special project. Classic Cars is your place if you want honesty. I would trust no other shop to something so delicate.John Reed
I called Jeff to check out a car for me that was in the Houston area and he gave me the most detailed review of the car. Incredible knowledge on these cars and knows exactly where to look for defects and problems. Hes definitely someone to trust if you want to restore a car, or simply need some info on a car youre looking to buy. I highly recommend him, this guy is extremely professional.
I am proud to recommend Classic Cars of Houston to anybody who is thinking about restoring their vehicle. During the time my car has been in this shop, I have witnessed the knowledge and attention to detail that was exhibited by Jeff and his staff as they performed their work. I have always found the work done to my satisfaction and the charges for such work reasonable. I would definitely want to take my future restoration work to Classic Cars of Houston.
Classic Cars of Houstons reviews on this site truly reflect its quality of work on each and every vehicle that enters the shop. These guys are amazing! They treat every car as if it is going to Pebble Beach. I brought my vehicle in for an appointment with Jeff. He went above and beyond in every aspect. I will definitely return to the shop in the future and recommend it to anyone that is looking for superior restoration.
No doubt about it, Jeff and his team make the impossible happen. The attention to detail is top notch, this is a true restoration shop of the highest order. No vehicle is too unique or rare for them, and their charges are reasonable considering this isnt a regular body shop. Not only did they do rust repair and paint work to my satisfaction, they worked with me and I helped find replacement body panels that werent necessarily for my car, but they could use them and save me money. They also did quality mechanical work on a car that most mechanics would treat pretty poorly, as cars from the 1980s arent exactly desirable to most folks. But Classic Cars of Houston treated it like a Bugatti, and I sincerely appreciate that.
I have had a 1959 Corvette for about 8, maybe 9 years. Its a restoration done in CA. Visually, pretty good, but, mechanically, sorta. After wasting a great deal of money at other Corvette specialists shops, I finally was referred to Jeff Pate and his crew at Classic Cars of Houston. FINALLY. Clearly, not only do they really know their craft, but theyre honest, easy to work with, and you can tell they LOVE the cars they work on. So, my Corvette looks amazing (we re-did the chrome work - and it is amazing), started fixing and making sure the engine does what it was meant to do - and could not be more pleased. So, if you love classic cars, you care about what you get for your money, and youd rather work for nice people who are responsive and treat you like a human being (as opposed to a human checkbook), then, Classic Cars of Houston is your place. Just one look at their shop, the cars theyre working on, the cars theyve done, and you know youre in the right place. I recommend them highly.
I wish I could have had actual work done by Classic Cars because the reviews of their work sounded so good. But despite my requests via a detailed email, several phone calls, and a voicemail message over a period of two weeks, I could never get them to respond. Perhaps they do such great work that they are just too busy for me. It would not have taken more than a few seconds for them to just tell me they were just too busy, but instead they get this poor review. I originally posted a one star review and then immediately got a call back saying the delay was due to an accident so I raised it to three stars.
Working with Classic cars of Houston, Jeff, for our very first time has been very pleasant and would highly recommend him and his company as they work with such professionalism and excellent with their customer service! I hope to do more business with him in the near future.
If you are a perfectionist like me, than look no further. Jeff and his crew are the most meticulous craftsman when it comes to auto restoration that I have ever witnessed.Classic Cars of Houston helped me with my 1987 Buick Grand National and my 1991 GMC Syclone. Both vehicles only needed minor cosmetic work but I was in no way going to let just any paint shop attempt to paint and finish-out the few items with which I needed help. I entrusted Classic Cars of Houston with both vehicles and both times they delivered PERFECTION! Color, texture and finish where perfect. Finally, I have found a business that takes pride in what they do.
I am happy to recommend Jeff Pate and Classic Cars of Houston to anyone that is serious about auto restoration. I did a nuts and bolts restoration on aDatsun 240Z and I couldnt be more pleased with the finished product. Jeffs attention to detail and unwillingness to let things slide really paid off for me. It is not cheap, but if you are into value vs price, you will be very please with the results. I would put the quality of my paint up against any of the high-end cars that roll out of auto factories today.
Ill keep this short and sweet :) I have a high end 1969 Camaro that I had paint, body and new motor work. This being said my car was at Classic Cars of Houston for a few months because quality doesnt happen over night.Jeff the owner is who I worked with on this project and I will tell you not only does Jeff no his business but the whole crew that works for him are top notched hands... My car in so many words is 100% better than it was when it showed up in and the communication was their and I knew of every step that was done before it was done and every penny that was spent was told to me before hand.I would give this CLASS A Restoration Company a higher rating if I could do so for they are the best that I have came across ever in Texas!!!!5 Star my but they are a 10 Star all day any day and Ill be a customer for life!!!!!
Jeff and his crew are absolutely the best in class. I would not take my 72 Chevelle to any other shop. If you are looking for an experienced and honest shop, this place is a must go. Not only did they do A+ work on my car, they helped me on a personal matter regarding my car as well. Before finding Classic Cars of Houston, I was constantly worried about the quality of work being performed. Now I sleep easy and without worry when my car is under their care. Thanks guys!!!
The short review: Jeff, Owner of Classic Cars of Houston, is a genuine standup guy. He will take the time to listen to his customer and provide an honest, straight-forward assessment. In the auto industry, I find it rare to meet such a person like Jeff. I would not hesitate to take my next major restoration project to Jeff and Classic Cars of Houston. The long review: I purchased a car which was delivered to Houston from a reputable dealer in Jersey. Prior to finalizing the purchase I had the car checked out by 2 local mechanics in Jersey. Both said the car only had surface rust and the frame was solid. After delivery, I had the car serviced by my long-time mechanic, who expressed serious concerns about the cars rusty conditions. Months went by and I struggled with what to do next. I made an appointment with Jeff at Classic Cars of Houston and shared my mechanics concerns with him. Jeff took his time and looked at the under carriage as well as inside the engine bay. Afterwards, he reassured me the car was fine despite the surface rust that was present. He made some very useful and practical recommendations regarding the rust and what to do about it. (He even showed me a product he uses in his work and recommend I use it on my car.) As preventative maintenance, Jeff pointed out some mechanical-related items I should have addressed by a good mechanic. And he reassured me an expensive restoration job was not necessary for the minor rust issues he saw on my car, Eric, I see rust every day. Thats what I do. And your car does not have scaly rust or major rust problems which I have seen in many cars from the region your car was delivered from (paraphrase). Now that I have a better understanding of the cars condition, I am at peace with my pricey and impulsive investment. Most of all, I truly appreciated a professional who did not use scare tactics to secure a sale and who did not take advantage of a person (me) who was in a vulnerable position. Thank you, Jeff, for being ethical and for taking the time out of your busy schedule to look at my car and address my worries. I look forward to doing business with you one day!Last thoughts...When I peered into the shop, it was filled with very nice classics being restored/worked on. If I was fortunate enough to own an old classic, I would not hesitate to take it to Classic Cars of Houston.
We are doing a tour for a high profile client and we needed some immediate work done to our 66 Deville Cadillac. Jeff and Will were awesome!!! They squeezed us in and went above and beyond our expectations and handled the problems with ease. NO shady business... Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Now we can finish this tour with ease! You Rock!
I am completely impressed with the folks at CCOH. Their shop is top notch, and capable of performing work on a wide array of makes and models - go see for yourself! Just so its stated - we had our family owned since 1956 Chevy brought to road worthiness after sitting in the basement for almost 10 years. It had not been modified, but taken care of, yet had not had any significant work performed on it in almost 15 years. The best part of working with CCOH was their excellent service. It was quickly apparent that the crew has a passion for what they do. And, they were super in their professionalism - you can tell they like what they do. The best part was when I picked the car up, and talked to the guys that did most of the work. Just to see the smiles on their faces, and the pride they had in their work as we detailed our way through the project gave me a lot of confidence as well.We are much more on the drive side, as opposed to show or race, and I am glad that I have found a trusted partner for our car. Im not taking it anywhere else for anything.
Great people
When I first got my 73 Mustang convertible, I tried a number of Houston shops for upgrades and repairs. I was not happy with the quality of work that I got from most of those places. Then Classic Cars of Houston was recommended to me. They have done all repairs small and large from replacing the top raise and lower switch to a complete 351C engine rebuild bored 0.020 over with new crank, performance cam, Edelbrock Performer manifold, and Holley carb. The owner, Jeff Pate is a perfectionist and performs only the highest quality work and uses the best parts. Now Classic Cars of Houston is the only shop that I will allow to work on my car.
Jeff and the group of guys at Classic Cars of Houston are top notch. I had them do a full overhaul of the mechanicals on my 69 Camaro. I am very happy with the outcome and love driving my car again. Will return to them soon for another project!!!!
Amazing shop! 5 star
I consider myself a Gearhead and I like to tackle projects at home.. but sometimes my knowledge or available tools are lacking and I have to reach out to the professionals. Seriously, after calling about 10+ shops and multiple referrals including stopping by 3 nobody could help me out with what seemed to be a simple fix. Now I know Classic Cars of Houston is a top notch place and I was a little intimidated to ask them for help... I had no other choice so I called them up and from just a phone call I knew it was no problem for them and they had the right tool for the job. They were kind enough to take a quick break from one of their main builds to help me out and that my friend is why you see 5 stars. Its not about THINKING you can do it... its KNOWING you can do it. Thanks Classic Cars of Houston!!
Awesome service and quick turn around!
Jeff, many thanks to you and your staff for all the detailed work performed on my 56 T-bird in preparation for the 2013 Vintage Thunderbird Club International Exhibition. Your personal and your staffs dedication, commitment and expert attention to all the details transformed my 20-year-old restoration into the winner of the Larry Seyfarth and Best of Show Awards. Your commitment to perfection in all aspects of your work is greatly valued, respected and appreciated. Thanks for being the quality person you are.Ron GeerHouston, Texas
Owner contacted me personally to discuss the restoration of my muscle car..Thanks Jeff!!!! I Look forward to doing business with you...
This shop is one of the best in the Southwest!I decided to do a complete frame off restoration on a 1961 Ford Thunderbird convertible. This car has been in my family for over 50 years (since 1962) handed down to me by my father. The tbird was in very rough condition with significant rust, engine and transmission issues and also had convertible top system problems. I knew what I wanted the car to look like when it was done and that I was going to be very careful as to who I had work on my car. Since I was not in a huge hurry, over the course of the next 2 years, I interviewed several paint and body shops that primarily did insurance repair and said they did “restoration work” as well. I also interviewed a few restoration only type shops and checked their references. I could not find anyone that I was comfortable with until I meet Jeff and Classic Cars of Houston. I was first referred to Jeff by a member of the local Thunderbird club who has had two cars done by Jeff (A 65 Tbird & a 66 Cutlass 442). I also found Jeff’s labor rates in be in line with the industry (and actually a bit lower than some of his competitors). In the 3 years that I have known Jeff I have come to find that he has put together a very knowledgeable and competent team. He has a couple of the best metal fab guys in Houston and probably THE BEST paint and body guys. He also has a super solid group of mechanics that have been able to completely re-assemble and address any mechanical issues that came up.Jeff was able find and use a variety of NOS or rebuilt original parts when he could get them and reproduction parts when he couldnt. I will tell you that reproduction parts almost never fit like the original factory parts so save yourself some future pain, suffering and money and use NOS or rebuilt originals when it makes sense (Jeff can advise when this is important).Through the time that my car has been at Jeff’s shop, I have also seen several other cars come through that are owned by professional athletes and business executives well known in Houston. I know those guys don’t just bring their cars to just anyone either. Why trust what I say? …. Don’t. But you can’t argue too much with the judges at Autorama and Keels and Wheels. My car won the following:2013 Houston Autorama 1st place Best in Class2014 Houston Autorama 1st place Best in Class2014 Houston Autorama Best in Category (That’s a big deal - BTW)2015 Keels and Wheels Concourse d’ Elegance – Best in Class and another big deal! These are the only shows I have attended so far, but I bet almost everyone I go to I will get some sort of award and that’s not even why I built the car. I restored it to drive it; it’s just that the quality is that good. Now, you don’t have to restore your car to the level I did. Just discuss what your vision is for your car and Jeff can get you there. I would suggest you check out his website (my 1961 is in the “Gallery”) and then give him a call and visit the shop.Best of luck with your car – Mark Whitehead
Classic Cars of Houston, in my opinion, is one of the best Restoration, Restomod, Custom shops in Texas and possibly the nation. (FYI, people do not believe all the crap you see on TV restoration shows, it’s not how it works with real restorations.)Working with Jeff Pate and his team, has been an excellent experience.Jeff/CCH, are focused on attention to details, and getting it rightCCH is not your typical pimp my ride shop. They take pride in what they do, and focus great effort in making everything look like it belongs with the design of the car.Its unreal the amount of work they did on my 1969 Firebird, which is a off the frame Restomod, and how they did it. Jeff and his team treat each car as if it is their ‘pride and joy”, which means anyone who owns their dream car, whether it is a 60’s muscle car, or any classics from the 30’s -60’s, will understand what I’m saying. The special attention to detail and careful handling of all parts was also amazing to me.Jeff’s walkthrough from start to finish, has been practical and unsurpassable with regards to details of the build.I highly recommend Custom Cars of Houston to anyone who has their own classic car and needs to have a full restoration, or upgrades etc. I will not hesitate to bring any future restorations to Jeff and Custom Cars of Houston to work on.
Excellent work!
MAYBE BEST IN HOUSTON
