The Foundation for Coast Guard History (FCGH) is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to promote the recognition and prestige of the United States Coast Guard by emphasizing its illustrious past and contributions to the nation. We needed an updated website to transitioned us from an early “2000” style that depended heavily on HTML coding to a more modern and responsive design which would be easy for our staff to edit and keep current. Kainalu Designs was recommended to me from a friend after Jim Muller updated the AFCEA Hawaii website, which I thought had been a huge improvement. Jim and I met a few times to review what I wanted to do with our site. He was very helpful in developing a way forward from my “I’d like to …” rough outline of requirements. While working with Xplorer Fitness Challenge, a new adventure-fitness-travel company based here in Oahu, I was searching for a graphic designer with the ability to translate English text to Japanese Kanji on our marketing materials. During my internet research, I found Kainalu Designs, and spoke with Jim about this project. Willing to offer any service he could provide, Jim assured me that he could complete the project to the best of his ability. However, before moving forward with the project, Jim told me that he does not speak/understand the Japanese language. Although he was not capable of translating the English text on his own, he did have several applications designed to translate the text to Japanese Kanji. To ensure the translations from the applications were accurate, Jim offered to have his Japanese colleagues review the text prior to submitting the translated files. With a limited amount of time before the deadline, Jim completed the project and offered his services again for future projects!Jims outstanding work ethic and attention to detail was evident in the finished products he provided for our company.
