Excellent place to get a quick work out! Not too crowded. People wear their masks, staff is friendly. I have not had any issues. Overall, planet fitness is an excellent value for the money.

Visiting the island for 3 weeks on business and coming from a high end $160 monthly membership “Lifetime Fitness” Diamond membership. I can honestly say, I hesitated to choose Planet Fitness. I was quickly impressed with the customer service,… Flora, Chad and Scott were amazing…Just super awesome. 🙌🏼 The equipment availability id a 4 star, but over all very good.I was also very impressed with the included massage!! You seriously can’t beat this gym… you really get a lot for what you pay! I will say, this is not a get huge bodybuilder gym which makes it a perfect place for those looking to begin their workout journey and even light body building.

If you are from another club make sure you have your barcode ready or have your account number. I had to call my home club to get this info as I didnt have my barcode handy. Other than that club seems kinda small for a city of this size. There were alot of people working out and masks are mandatory at the time of this post (9-17-21)

This place is full of people but I have no problem getting the machines that I need. Everyone wipes down after use and the rotation is constant. I have great workouts.

This gym is definitely a smaller gym than most. It only has three smith machines and it does get very busy so you will need to wait. Cardio did not seem too packed but the weight area did have a lot of people. Way better than a hotel gym but make sure to come with time! Bathrooms were very clean, floor around the gym was very clean, and front staff was friendly.

They make it a major pain to end your membership. Be aware it needs to be done in person or in writing by the 10th of the month to avoid billing. Nobody will make this clear when you sign up even when you tell them you are only in Hawaii temporarily :(

Has more treadmills than any other machine its more open so for some that want privacy theres not rooms for workouts like other planet fitness... Staff is friendly and people are polite there though

Overall compared to the PFs in the states it maintains its quality. 2 downsides that are minor would be no chargers in the outer lockers like most locations have. The stretching area is ridiculously small. Overall good experience.

Suzan “from host” made me feel very welcome”. She looked up my member ID and had a great idea of changing my ID number to my cell#. She should get a raise! Smaller club but I love the energy here. Amazing parking!!!

Always clean, broken machines get fixed, friendly staff. They could do with a little more core work/stability equipment, but for like 15$/month, 24hours 5d/w.... you honestly cant beat it.

This PF Ala Moana location has hardworking, kind employees that greet every1 who enters, regularly clean the bathrooms, and organize equipment. They work hard for the busiest PF location Ive ever been. This review aint directed towards them but towards the DECEPTIVE membership practices of PF, especially when you cancel.Stayed in HI for 1 mo, bought a 1 mo black card membership. Cancelled 3 days before my flight, told I was going to be charged 22.99 for the next mo bc I didnt cancel 5 days before the 17th. Well dang no prob, Ill just workout at another Planet fitness location, I thought. Just tried to workout at a FL sunrise PF location and was DENIED ENTRY. Stating my phone # aint even in the system. I essentially paid ~48 dollars for 1mo. Great employees, who are patient with members BUT I can NOT give any company more than 1 star when they knowingly or unknowingly take advantage of their customers. If I paid for 2 mo Blackcard membership, I expect to receive 2 mo.UPDATE: Blackcard membership is the no- commitment option where u should be able to cancel anytime. You SHOULD be able to have 1 mo, 2 mo, 4 mo etc membership and cancel anytime.

Small gym. Not enough free weights or cable machines. Always have to wait. Then, I asked to cancel but was told I have to wait 90 days. Like it’s my fault the gym doesn’t workout for me. Predatory.

Worker made me feel like I am the covid delta prototypes father and should be practicing social distancing by standing 6 miles away.. as I was leaving she was putting every machine I was on through a full auto detail just not with a automobile.. other than that fukkuh cherry..

It gets busy but not overly busy. A good place for cardio. Bathrooms here were a bit dirty but other than that its a pretty good place. Oh, the employees are very helpful

This is a perfect example of’ “you get what you pay for”. Cheap membership but this place is packed. The bathroom smells like wet dog and it’s not the cleanest gym even though it’s on the newer side. Be ready to wait for machines. It’s only 1 story and is really small. The staff are really nice and there’s no personal trainers bugging you. But for me personally, it’s not worth the crowd and body heat that the A/C can’t handle.

So I went to join Planet Fitness today there was a long line of customers waiting to get in but I wasnt discouraged.Next I figured Id call to make an appointment because of the COVID19 and I didnt want to wait in line because it seemed like I would be there for an hour.I was pleasantly surprised to speak with a Representative over the phone and she came to the door to welcome me.Finally she gave me an IPAD to fill out all my information to get enrolled afterwards I downloaded the planet Fitness app and received my barcode....Simple Easy Fast

Love planet fitness! I’m new here so I’m still adjusting to wearing my mask the WHOLE WORKOUT AND WAITING IN LINE! I’m not feelin this AT ALL! But it’s the SEASON! So just be aware and hopefully there may be better hours to go...I just can’t due to work schedule

I get that theres a mask mandate but it is so boiling hot in here, plus no fans that I can see, that I really feel like I might pass out. I mean I felt like I was being waterboarded, my mask and face were soaking. And then I pull it under my nose, you know, to breathe, and within thirty seconds Im being ordered to pull it up. If we have to wear masks in here, at least make the temperature bearable.

Cheap membership but with good quality!! A lot of my friends went others gym thought other gyms would be better since a bit prices. BUT they all wanna come back to planet fitness!! My friends said it’s way clear at planet fitness. And staffs are more nice and helpful. I’m been with planet since the day I lived in other states. It’s been great!!

Called to inquire how to cancel membership because I sent a letter in and no one replied or cancelled the membership. Spoke to the “manager” Reuben who is by far one of the most rudest individuals and he said put a stop on the bank account and mail a certified cancellation letter. I did exactly that, received notice they got the letter and yet still got billed a $55 annual fee. I called their billing department and they said refunds need to be handled at the club level. Called the club, got a female employee, told her the situation, she sends it to Reuben and he says because they tried taking the funds from my bank account and it was blocked the bank charged them $15 which he charged me on top of the $55! He said don’t worry you won’t be charged from here. Ummm I should have never been charged to begin with as the membership was cancelled. Very Sketchy billing and business practices.

Cost effective but not for reoccurring customers we loose our old membership due to covid and we have to restart with everything all over with new promotions and bills

Its a really nice gym. Jus kinda small and will have to wait during busy hours. If there was one more gym in the kahala area theyd be golden.

It’s small but not over crowded in there AM! Has good equipment and weights.

First time at the Ala Moana gym and it was pretty damn chill. There are social distancing measures taking place, everyone is cleaning their equip after they are done and everyone leaves you alone.

I would give it a 4 or 5 but it seems that the place is understaffed. On several occasions, I have experience multiple stations be empty of paper towels and/spray for sanitizing. And the Crowd Meter is completely useless. It is NEVER accurate so traveling to the gym based on its reading is misleading. But the staff is always friendly and the place is relatively well maintained.

Friendly staff. Great if you like cardio machines (I hate them) and terrible if you like free weight or CrossFit type lifts. Not a single barbell bench or squat rack - just 3 smith machines that can be used for bench / squats etc. 3/4 of the gym is taken up by cardio equipment leaving a scant 100 sqm or so for lifting even though 80% of the people in the gym are there for the weights. After covid, could easily remove half of the cardio stuff since every other machine as a sign saying “practice social fitnessing” ... lame. In general a poor design, outdated layout, and lack of useful equipment make this a poor excuse foe a gym. But, for $10 not sure it’s possible to do better sadly. Lame 😒

Red light therapy! Access to affordable red light therapy is why I joined Planet Fitness. If you will permit me to explain red light therapy as a lay person I will offer you my vague understanding. Red light therapy uses part of the light spectrum that does not tan or burn but instead promotes circulation and healing. There are a few places around town of varying quality. The bulbs have to be changed often BC they lose a teensy bit of effectiveness with each use. Without that youre just paying to sit in some light for no benefit. When I go to the best place (on McCully) my skin is warm and flushed at the end if the 20 minute session in a tanning bed (again, no tanning). I pay attention to immediate results bc I do not want to fall for a gimmick. At PF there is a different system in place. The sessions are 12 minutes long and you stand in the closet like unit, so it is not as comfortable. Yesterday I went to PF after taking a break for several days from my favorite place so I could see if the machine at PF worked. My answer is, I think so, though not as dramatic as I see when I go to the place on McCulley. I will continue to attend. It is affordable here, $20 a month whereas in other places you have to buy the package to get $10/ session! Also I like the 24 hour weekday access. I am using the red light at PF as a supplemental treatment for some injuries Ihave. When theres a wait due to COVID occupancy restrictions, the wait is outside and I have never waited more than 20 minutes. What can you do? I have never waited to access red light once I am inside. As long as PF keeps on top of changing out the bulbs frequently, I will be totally committed. Granted, this is not their focus but if more people knew the benefits, it could really add to their business in my unsolicited marketing opinion!

Always crowded and difficult to park during peak hours. takes way too long to get a workout compared to other gyms.

I find it APPALLING that during this these times Planet Fitness REQUIRES you to either STAND IN LINE or send a CERTIFIED LETTER (which still doesn’t guarantee that it will be completed) for you to CANCEL your MEMBERSHIP!!!! But even more INSULTING is the fact that the PHONE LINES go DIRECTLY to a voicemail that is FULL and NOT ACCEPTING MESSAGES!!! In Hawaii there were two lockdowns and the gyms were only recently allowed to reopen so them not making allowances for cancellation is UNPROFESSIONAL as a business, but they are more than ready to TAKE YOUR MONEY!!

As a paying member of Planet Fitness I am disturbed. They installed wall outlets ALL over the gym obviously for members to use however a employee that is employed at that location claims that we cant charge our phones, etc. there!

Theres a long line outside the door constantly. You have to wait about an hour just to get in the door. They dont have enough free weights. They probably can get rid of half of the ellipticals, spin bikes, and treadmills. Not a lot of people are using them. They can then double their free weights area.

Rude staff, incompetent employees. Their policies are insane. Its 2020, in order to verify who you are you have to physically go to the gym to make any changes. Every company in the world allows you to make changes to YOUR accounts online or through the phone. Also their mobile app hasnt worked from day one. Until you are upset, only then will they MIRACULOUSLY be able to help you over their phone. They credited our account for two months which they decided would be used during the pandemic when our accounts were FROZEN. How does that make any sense. The customer is not accommodated here. Sure its cheap but you pay for what you get.

Dirty place, especially in the locker rooms (it is disgusting). Small amount of exercise machines and some of them are brocken (one of them has brocken right in my hands). Leaking ceilings (right on everyone’s heads). Indifferent staff. And always a huge line to the entrance at every part of the day just because they don’t have an appointment system.Pluses? It is cheap and now you realize why

I felt the handling of Covid by this planet fitness was very poor.In the beginning the policy was1. Masks on while in the gym, but not on the machines.”Not only this makes no sense, unfortunately there were members who werent taking it serious. I recall watching a staff member asking for a member to put his mask on, but he didnt and kept walking.Then it changed to2. Masks on the entire visit of the GymThe signage was not very good to begin with and this had a loop hole in the locker room. Members felt it was okay Not to be wearing masks in the locker room. I mentioned this to the club multiple time, asking them to put signs in the locker rooms to remind the members that masks are required the entire visit of the gym. They never did. They said we have sighs out here, which was a 8X11 paper posted on the entry door. Ive also spoke with the assistant manager regarding this issue, and she got very defensive about it. I told her there was nothing to get defensive about, Im just asking for extra signs in the locker rooms.The worst was when I encountered a member in the locker room not wearing a mask, I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he had it off for a short period of time, after about 5 mins, I kindly asked him if he minded putting on his mask. It was unfortunate that this member decided to lash out of me, and made physical threats. I spoke with the staff regarding this event, and he was just warned.During this time I sent multiple message via the PF website, asking for clarification for the members in the locker rooms, but never got any response.And finally when I decided I didnt wish to be part of this gym anymore, There was another very annoying policy: They make you come into the gym personally, or send a Certified mail from the post office to cancel membership.If anyone wishes to stay away from the crowds during the pandemic, it would be the gym and the post office. I called and asked about if there were any other way, lover the phone, but they said NO. When I arrived at the gym, I had to wait in line just to get in the building to cancel my membership.The gym is not bad all for the price you pay, but because of the price, it attracted subpar- members like the ones who wishes to disregard the rules of the gym. I also felt that there were few semi homeless members who would come to take showers in the gym time to time.I have very sour taste in my mouth from this whole experience at this PF.They were closed for what seemed like 1/4 of the year, and they wouldnt refund my yearly fee that was just charged in March/April.Maybe the Gym will respond this this review, even thought they never responded to the message I sent via their website.

It can get super crowded so sometimes I have to mix up my workout based on what is open. But you really can’t beat the price. The staff is great. Free classes are also a huge benefit. Overall I highly recommend to anybody who can spare $10 a month.

Theyre finally open. The FIRST Planet Fitness in the state. Used their private standup tanning bed for 9 minutes and got a good burn. The staff is friendly and it wasnt very busy around 3pm. The lunk alarm needs to be set off on whoever is behind the walls of this place hammering and drilling stuff in Target.

Waiting outside for 45 minutes... while “machine hogs” take too long with their work outs, and social meetings.Standing in line is not fun. I am sure you can find some way to speed up the wait time.

Cant beat the price and the convenience

The staff at this location are friendly and keep the gym and mens locker room clean. There are a decent number of free weights but the number of machines are lacking and often busy. There are plenty of cardio machines that dont seem to be heavily used. My only issue is the number of machines and a number of them dont provide a fluid motion when used.Note: the entrance to this Planet Fitness is on the ground level behind Target, facing the parking garage.

Didnt set of the grunk alarm or whatever. Lol!Im just glad the gyms are open again.Friendly staff, and they really go around to keep cleaning up the place. I like how the people are cleaning up their machines after use, like how it shouldve been anyway before covid times! Dont just rely on the workers to clean up; clean up after yourselves. :)

Stopped by this location while on vacation with the family. The gym is a little on the smaller side, but pretty well organized and clean. However, I was met with significant resistance gaining access, because I did not have my Black Card with me. The kid at the desk was not helpful at all, as all he would say when asked anything was simply no & cant do that. Finally a girl came up to help him, and they decided I would need to call back to my home gym to get my membership number from my home club in California. This was the only way they could give me access. Finally, after approximately 20 minutes, I was able to workout. Once inside, the kid followed us around as if we were going to steal something. Strange acting character, he needs some training! Seems as though these clubs should be connected through the network in order to prevent this type of event. Very frustrating! Did not return for the rest of the vacation, as Id had enough of that place.

The front desk staff is super helpful and energetic. I love coming here now to exercise and I dont feel awkward like I did at the other gyms in town. The price is very good too. Definitely worth it.

Pro: location location location!I live across the street from Ala Moana so it’s super conveniently located that I can run there so I don’t ever have to waste time looking for parking. Lots of folks can hop off the bus and head directly into Planet Fitness without hassle.The staff seemed friendly with the little interaction I’ve had with them.Con:Size: It’s tiny compared to the other planet fitness located on the mainland which means they have nearly half as many machines. You will often times have to spend time waiting in line to use a machine and forget about the 2 smith machines rarely available. They need more locations on island or a bigger on so that it’s not crowded or better yet open 24/7.Hours: The whole 24/4, 12/2, 22/1 hours is actually really a turn off. It’s always too crowded so you’re always waiting in line, especially during the weekends. If your goal is to lose weight or make gains, why bother paying for a gym that inhibits it by closing early. That’s simply inviting every to skip the gym because it’s closed and unavailable when you’re motivated to go. They’ve also often closed unexpectedly earlier than their scheduled times too! I honestly would rather pay the extra money to 24Fitness which has more machines and is open 24/7.$$ over priced! If I’m paying the same rates as the mainland planet fitness why am I not getting the same quality and amenities available 24/7 as the mainland.

Not sure how staff is monitoring the capacity. This gym is set at 143 but today it looks like it’s over a bit and the weight station is too crowded. Please monitor this more carefully

Cant think of enough accolades to describe this marvellous idea. Obviously the n a t i o n wide chain has been improving things over many years. When I joined Planet Fitness in November of 2018 it was still under construction. When open it was amazing how much improved over the old location of the YMCA

Say No Aloha here...I travel a lot and my normal shoe for walking, hiking etc is a closed toe Keens bc they provide better toe protection than than Vibrams or sneakers.I have worn these shoes in numerous Planet Fitness without any issues, bc Im just there to work out, not trying to impress anyone. They provide better toe protection than most sneakers, and are more functional than Vibrams (which I also own a pair). So much for no gym intimidation.Got kicked out of Honolulu PF mid workout and was told I couldnt get a refund- yeah its only $5, but the customer service by staff and manager sucked! If they would have just said next time wear your pretty sneakers I would have.**Your canned response to my review shows that you didnt even read what I said, and a further example of your poor customer service and even worse service recovery. Glad your corporate policy is ok with embarrassing and kicking members out of your gym bc of choice in footwear.

Love the atmosphere

I have been going here since the opening and I’m impressed. First, this place is clean, clean, clean. I am including a picture of one of the employees cleaning. They clean all the time. Members are very good about wiping down the machines, and that makes me happy as well. They have tons of machines, free weights, and structured work out spaces. The bathrooms are well-equipped with showers, places to put your stuff, and they are clean as well. The staff are friendly. I only have the basic membership as I’m not sure how much I would use The amenities of the upgraded membership. But whether you’re paying 10, 15, or $20 a month it is well worth the money. It is reasonable. The buying out of your contract is reasonable as well, only $59. This is a far step up from other fitness clubs.

I love planet fitness. This is my gym in Washington and I can visit any one of them all around the world. You must be fit to live long and healthy life. Excercise, its the trick to keeping your youth.

Absolute worst first impression given by any gym I’ve ever been to. Signed up online because it was convenient and close and I could bring a guest who was visiting from Sweden for a week, walked in and immediately was in line for the new people to get their cards which was fine but after waiting 10 min instead of being greeted I was immediately told how my water gallon wasn’t allowed by the rude woman at the front desk which I did not know but definitely could have been mentioned later without as much attitude after I had received my card, but then was immediately turned away after I received my black card because my guest forgot her ID, not given a tour, not even a greeting, nothing. I could have went home to retrieve it but the first impression made me feel unwelcome to return.

Friendly staff. Nice change rooms. Not crazy busy. Good price. Water fountains could be cleaner. A refillable water bottle station would be great to see rather then only selling beverages in plastic bottles out of the fridge.Equipment worked good.

Been a planet fitness member for over 6 years, had home gyms in Milwaukee and Manhattan and this is by far the worst branch I’ve ever used. On a consistent basis people hog benches, equipment, and weights without using those items/spaces. Clientele is rude, and for a gym that is “anti-lunks” there is almost always an assortment of people lounging on benches with gallons of water, chatting for extended periods of time. Will be looking for any other gym since this is always a nightmare to go to. Almost impossible to finish a routine regardless of what time of day I go.

The center was good. But I registered at this center on March 5th and went there until the 17th. Since then, the center has been temporarily closed due to corona and has not been used. Ironically, the payment was made on the 17th. Due to the KCorona crisis, I had to go back to my home country and asked for cancle my membership and refund through contact us on the website. But I only received an automatic reply mail. And on July 17th and August 1st, 14 dollars and 40 dollars were withdrawn again. Please withdraw me and give me a refund. This is my last method to contact. I suffered enough.

Good spot to exercise and pump up. Benefits for getting the black card isnt worth it yet. Only 2 water massage working, sauna bath is good I guess but I never used it. Only 2 regular massage chairs and only 5 minutes per massage

Great friendly staff, trainers very friendly, helpful and free, no extra fees. Plenty of machines even have a section if you dont have time, do the 30 minute workout. Clean, have showers, lockers. No extra fees.

Mid post covid-19 they did a real good job setting up the equipment to keep our distance from others, the sanitizer stations your touching it so thats a small issue but touchless pump and sprayer arent cheap. The social distancing kinda not being followed but thats cause were social animals and they not policing the crowds err clusters of people. But still overall it feels safe enough to workout.

Aside from this place being really small to the amount of people who come through (sometimes have to wait around for machines and free weights in order to use), everything else is good. The staff maintains the place well. It is clean and all the machines were in working order when I visited. It is situated in a busy area in town so finding parking can be tough. I just parked in Ala Moana parking lot walked over. There are stores in walking distance from it if you want to pick up an energy drink, protein, or another drink for the gym which I found very convenient.

Aloha: This is fantastic club with a lot of positive energy. The management is wonderful. The staff is attentive. Dont let negative remarks keep you from being involved in a great location and great club. The club motto is fitness without judgement. What ever your size, what ever your physical condition, what ever your age,what ever your need. This planet is about your fitness. Earth to planet fitness, COME IN!

A clean & basic updated gym equipment for someone whos on a budget. No swimming pool or sauna tho.

No frills and clean. Ive always been able to find an open machine even during peak hours. Works for me.

Ruben has ruined the friendly atmosphere of the gym. The other staff are still great, but the best part of planet fitness was how great all the staff were. Since Ruben has started the gym just doesnt have the same friendly feeling. I highly suggest going elsewhere. Was a black card member since it opened, and this will be my last month coming here.

I got the black card lvl. I love the hydro massage chairs. They also have tanning and red light therapy booths. The gym isnt too crowded when I go around lunch. The classes that they offer on weekdays are fun and motivating. And surprisingly there was only me and 1 other person in each class. Ive had my membership for 2 weeks and go every other day. I love their motto no gym intimidation. Waaay cheaper than 24hrs at $21 month. So far Im loving it.!

Great planet fitness right in the heart of everything!

Has everything you need to get in shape and helpful staff. The pricing is the best thing ever. They dont try to rip you off. Its $1 initial sign-up fee then $10 per month. That is almost the same coat as Netflix. All in all planet fitness gives you what you need to get in shape and the cost is very cheap.

Love this place! From day one the staff has been inviting, encouraging, and fun. Definitely recommend a membership to those interested..best $20 I spend every month! And definitely worth getting the black card for the extra amenities :) Special thanks to Josh and Anna for their brights smiles and compliments upon every visit!

I work here, I transferred here from Planet Fitness Fairbanks in Alaska. The management team here is pretty awesome, will get you trained up pretty quick. The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable and willing to answer questions that members may have. A ton of equipment for the community to come in and use at such a low price.

If you want progress, dont go there. Its just a way to make you skinny at best and keep you fat at worst.

For the (Black card) membership fee of $20 per month and no contract, I dont think I could be disappointed. They do have a $10 per month membership which is great deal. At this time of day, 3pm, its at about 1/3 to 1/2 occupied. Well see how this goes in a month.
