When i moved here from out of state i was worried i was not going to find a good place for a hair cut.. I searched on line and found this place. Its not far from me and the prices were nice. The only pause is the cost to park.. They do not control the cost but expect to pay around 5-10 dollars extra to park.

I have been coming here off and on since I arrived on the island in 2010. This shop is consistent. It will be most likely to be open when posted. There are usually only two barbers at all times so there is usually a wait.As for appointments, *unofficially*, I think the appointment slots are only for the senior barbers clientele. The haircuts by appointment are $25 + whatever else extra. The apprentice barber cuts everyone not scheduled. The cost of fades and senior cuts are $15-20. Not completely sure. Great and relaxing atmosphere. Quiet and respectful but still relaxed enough to talk sports

Hands down the best barber on the island of Oahu. I spent my first year on island looking for a barbershop the can cut my type of hair ( course) and none of them I was satisfied until I came here. The gentleman that work here are very professional, welcoming and caring. Been going there for almost 2 years and I look forward to going every time 🤙🏽

Hello people who are tourist and are people of color. Even though people of color work here they will assume you are a local because “OMG it can’t be that a person of color has enough money to travel!” I was rudely told I needed an appointment only for a wig and they assumed I knew that they had been around for 22 years, because everybody knows that you need an appointment for a wig around here. Well I’m not from here I’m from Texas. Don’t waste your time if you want a wig and you’re visiting Hawaii.

Ive seen a lot of comments about the wait time.... Yes... The wait can be long if you walk in but please... PLEASE make an appointment! ! This is the best option. King, the barber, is amazing and he keeps the place professional and family friendly. Ive been to a lot of Barbers in HI, but these guys are HANDS DOWN the best. Cant recommend them enough.

Older barbershop type of vibe, real chill, relax and haircuts are very good. Other reviews talk about the receptionist being terrible but I have never had that experience but if you get an attitude dont expect a friendly response, you get treated with what you give.

I get that they do a great job in cutting hair but 40 min to cut 1 head is crazy. There was only 1 Barber and 12 ppl waiting. At one point there were two . They know what days theyre busy and yet instill they only have one Barber to cut. Im sure they lose a lot of money when that happens but if you want a cut from them your best bet is to make an appointment. They need to base that shop on appointment only if thats going to continue to happen. the wait time is bad.

This place is a fantastic barber shop and very professionally ran. I have never received a bad haircut from this establishment. So by no means is this is review of the barbers. However, the owner of this establishment spoke with me and about getting my daughters hair done with one of the beauticians. He told me that I had to bring my wife. I explained to him that her current work schedule doesnt allow her to come in during their hours of operations. He said he understood and to get a list of the products that have been used in her hair for a consultation with one of the beauticians. Easy enough I get the information and come in the next day for the appointment. He then begins to tell me the mother needs to be present for the appointment. We had a long conversation that went nowhere and he then began to offer to pay for my parking and roll his eyes in an exteremely disrespectful manner. So understand while this place is in fact an excellent barber shop, they do not attempt to meet customer needs given the circumstances. I would recommend the two barbers any day. However, based on the treatment my daughter and I received this evening and how my time as a customer was treated. I will be looking for a new establishment for my hair services.

I get my sew in done here by Ms. Slim and I love coming to her! I have a few tracks added for length and fullness. Its more of a barber shop but I love that the womens side is separate from the men for privacy. Anywhere else in Hawaii that I went was trying to charge me $200 & up yikes...for a few tracks???? I would highly recommend this place.

4 months and counting - if I cant make it for my weekly cut then I will wait another week. Parking isnt the greatest but a small inconvenience for getting a great hair cut. The barbers know what they are doing and the shop has a very clean and maintained appearance. It can fill up pretty quick in the late morning and evening so plan ahead if you can. Like with any barber shop just be clear with your direction on the style that you want. Highly recommended

The barbers are very good. The wait is not worth it. The lady at the front desk told me if i was there by 6 i could get a cut. I got there before 6 snd the door was already locked . I domt reccomend this place to anyone unless you make an appointment. The haircut is not worth the 2 to 3 hours youre gonna wait. Find a different barber shop .

If I could give them negative Stars I would...So Im a customer sitting there waiting for a haircut and a shave something Im about to pay $60 for. there are two bathroom signs that clearly say mens and women I get up to go to the restroom and the barber says with a nasty attitude there is no public restroom. I said Im a customer he repeats there is no public restroom. Worst customer service ever nastiest attitude ever. And on top of that the parking is ridiculously expensive I paid 9 bucks to not even get a haircut. I will never go there again.

Very arrogant establishment. Very rude and disrespectful. I just moved here 4 weeks ago and was referred to one of the barbers. I was on the phone with my referrel and a couple of friends and the so called share partners answered the phone with a rude and sarcastic tone. Cut me off and then put me on hold for over 5 minutes. I had my friend call back and he wasnt treated that way. I called back again and a man answered being just as disrespectful and arrogant as she was. Justified her behavior after I had witnesses to the conversation and told me arrogantly that they have many people that come to the shop. That was said as if people dont matter, their money does.Like Im irrelevant since Im a new customer. Told me the phones are recorded. Good then Im owed an apology for your lack of tact. There are a lot more human beings who cut hair in Hawaii who are actually very respectful. This is not one of them.

Review №34

Well, I have been coming to this shop for years and never thought to post a review (because its just not my thing) but after yesterday I just had to share the experience that had me feelin some type of way (a good way) about my spot!!!! Mr. King has been cutting my hair just the way I like for the last 8 years, and though at times I dislike having to wait when I have an appointment (hint hint) I wouldnt take my business anywhere else. The combination of the atmosphere, the customer service, the professionalism, the many celebrities on their wall tell a story that I love hearing about, it just pulls it all together to make it worthwhile. WELL yesterday was the icing on the cake! Now, Im sitting there waiting to get cut when this gentleman comes in and starts talking to Mr. King while he is cutting a client, (this guy looks familiar but I cant quite put my finger on it yet..) His conversation is loud enough for all of us waiting to hear and he makes it known that he is a stylist (or hairdresser excuse my ignorance) when he asks Mr. King to help him brush up his cutting skills (sharpen his knife) and asking him for help....THEN IT HIT ME!!! This is the guy I read an article about, he had a salon that was opening a Juice or tea or something bar in his salon...so I looked them up...Salon Blanc. Now it really makes you feel good when someone who actually OWNS two salons is asking the guy who cuts your hair to help him in his technique. That says something about Flava & Da Wig Shop I hope you know there are us clients out here that appreciate your authenticity!!! Keep up the good work!!!!

The worst place to wait for a cut, you cant talk on the phone. But the babers can! . Basically if u dont make a appointment extra $15 thats not worth there is no need to go here. Because they will make u wait hours before taking walk ins . The cuts take forever and a day once u do get into the chair. Then they gotta sweep after every cut. Like get the ppl out then sweep up. The guy at the front dest looks creepy. People dont let the lil Celebrities pictures fool yall that they got on the wall.. 👎🏾They would never make it on the main Lands

And although while waiting for three hours I was told I can not be on my phone that have been on for the whole time which means i wasnt disturbing anyone after I stood up to charge it. It just took my business else where. It soo sad I came all this way for nothing. Its not like they apologized either.

So Ive been getting my hair done here for about 3 years now, and finally found time to sit down and review all my new Honolulu faves (haha)Let me start by saying YES! This is a legitimately black-owned business!!! And I am amazed at the diversity I see coming through here! Its refreshing! I appreciate my sessions everytime. Its like a mini detox/pamper appointment. Hair, Nails, Eyebrows, Weave ✅ and Im good to go!! Not only is the work exactly what I like (I admit Im pretty picky, but when youre spending your hard earned money, who shouldnt be?!) but I also extremely appreciate the privacy I get during all of that. I really dont like the stereotypical gossiping, gum poppin, men invading your privacy type of environment that youd usually find when venturing to get your braids done 🙄 .My only complaint is the parking, being in Honolulu it is pretty pricey especially when Im there for half the day, so Ive been having a friend drop me off to avoid that extra cost. The prices are extremely reasonable, I like all the flashy extras on my nails but Ms. Nia always delivers quality so Im used to paying a pretty penny for my claws. Ms. Slim is my stylist, doing a full sew in frontal with washing and styling, Im still paying under $200!!! My install is always flat and natural looking, while still having massive volume and thickness!! Im always feeling like a new woman when I leave here.As for some of the previous reviews Ive seen, yes the barbershop can get pretty busy! Ive seen it slam packed almost 90% of the time I come (usually weekends for me) Ive heard good things about their skills (but honestly know nothing about mens haircuts) and Ive become personal friends with my technicians, I cant even believe some of these hatin reviews!! I happen to know there are no joint proprietors or share partners just one guy, the same owner for the last 18 years! And he has been nothing but kind to me! Theyve even compd some of my services over the years for special occasions and customer appreciation. And most of the team there has been around over 10+ years, That alone says a lot about a business to me, they must be doing something right!!!! I cant believe theres not more reviews about this place! Keep up the good work Flava and Da Wig Shop!

Ive been coming to the wig shop for three years now and Im always very plsd to have gone there after I leave. The wait is average I would say and the quality is way above any shop Ive been to ever. I love how its not just another stereotypical BLACK BARBER SHOP. It wasnt a surprise to me to see celebrities in photos with the barbers. It wasnt a surprise to notice the level of professionalism instilled into the barbers working in all black slacks above or on their waist and polo style shirts. No the huge surprise and adjustments I had to make was NO CURSING ALLOWED, JAZZ MUSIC, POSITIVE CONVO WITH EVERYONE WHO JOINS IN THE CONVERSATION AND VIBES OF NOT WORRYING BOUT ANYTHING NEGATIVE HAPPENING LIKE GETTING RAIDED OR SHOT UP FROM RUCKUS THEYVE CREATED. The thing that shocked me the most was definitely the different types of ppl that the guys at the wig shop have made comfortable enough not to think about the racial barriers at all because the guys at the wing shop Mr.King, Tony, Kattu and idk his name but long dreadlock dude are all very chill and open to anyone and make u feel comfortable around them while you are there even if its only while you are there. So I rate THE WIG SHOP 5 stars because I cant give a 10 star rating. Hope everyone continues to enjoy the guys and Im able to continue getting my haircut there for plenty years to come.
