There are not enough positive adjectives that exist to describe just how FABULOUS Island Trauma Services truly is. From the time I met Doug, I could just tell this would be the right company to hire. Not only are they compassionate and easy to talk to, but highly communicative and helpful as well. I was dealing with a hoarding situation that was very sensitive, and Andrew with his crew did an amazing job. Andrew was in constant contact keeping me updated every step of the way. He was calming, honest and explained everything step by step. I cannot recommend this company highly enough.

Doug and his team are incredibly compassionate and gracious. Called to handle an extremely sensitive and emotionally situation he was kind and truly cared for the family and friends effected by the tragedy. The team was professional and respectful. They were careful in the family’s home, with their property and were in and out quietly and quickly. They were well organized and efficient and the cost once again reflected the sense of community and sympathy this company has for people as their fee was more than fair and reasonable and produced results better than we could have hoped for/expected. If struck with misfortune or tragedy that requires a company with this field of expertise, I would recommend these amazing people hands down on any given day.

Doug and his staff were so helpful when I called to have my parents place disinfected after they both got COVID and had to be hospitalized. They were there the next day and did an outstanding job. I felt totally safe going in after. I would highly recommend this company. Doug cares about the customers, he listens and goes above and beyond to accommodate your needs. I needed assistance with sorting through the contents of my sister’s co-op following her unexpected death this past May 2018. It was a challenge which I and other family members could not address, and we wanted to vacate her apartment so that we could go forward with attending to her other personal matters. We did not know how to begin the task of sorting through another’s personal property. Our primary concern was how best to determine what to discard, donate, and retain.The fact that she had a large quantity of personal property squeezed into a small one bedroom did make this task any easier. Upon first glance this had the appearance of a hoarding disorder so I searched on-line for assistance. Although I was told this was not the case of hoarding (my sister’s health had declined and she could not take care of her apartment as well as she might have desired), this may have been the best step I took to tackle this situation.I contacted staff at Steri-Clean/ Island Trauma Services on-line and a competitor. Within 15 minutes I received a call from Sean. Shortly thereafter Doug (the owner) contacted me. Both Sean and Doug provided an overview of the scope of the services I might require. They were personable and reassuring that they could work closely with me to resolve this unexpected family challenge. As noted in their literature, Steri-Clean/ Island Trauma Services staff are confidential so as not to draw unnecessary attention from the neighbors, but also respectful to the property which is left behind. Staff go beyond the level of quality customer service to becoming a partner with you to complete an important and at first glance insurmountable task.The staff (which also included Doug) became my team and supporters. The carefully sorted and vetted all items before I decided its fate. They came to work on-time each day, and they worked continuously- they took no breaks, except for lunch. This is challenging work within a challenging environment. All are to be commended for the exceptional work they accomplished. They earned every dollar which this service cost. It was money well spent.See the photos for three before and after views. As stated in the literature Steri-Clean/ Island Trauma Services staff will leave the space broom (actually HEPA vacuum) clean. At the end after they departed with all of the former contents (a portion which Doug and Meg delivered to me just yesterday) I felt relieved, but also confident that I did the right thing by reaching-out to Steri-Clean/ Island Trauma Services staff. So the moral of this testimony: Don’t hire a mover or just any company to do the work of “physical social workers.”As a result of explaining to other persons how I met this challenge, they have asked for contact information about Steri-Clean/ Island Trauma Services. For they know they may require this type of service and support at some point in the future, and they want to find the best partners to work it through.Thanks Doug and all at Steri-Clean/ Island Trauma Services.

Doug was such a pleasure to work with. He patiently answered all of my questions regarding disinfecting after covid, and reassured me as to the procedure they follow and the plant-based products they use. He was very compassionate and knowledgeable. His team came right on time and were very friendly and professional. They did a wonderful job and now I can be at ease knowing that my home is covid-free! I contacted Island Trauma Services to disinfect my parents home after they contracted COVID-19. My father had passed away and my mother was hospitalized, so my siblings and I needed to get into the house safely to take care of their affairs. I talked to the owner Doug and he was very compassionate and accommodating. His crew arrived on-time first thing the next morning. Erik explained how they were going to use electrostatic sprayers with a plant-based disinfectant and then wipe all the high-touch surfaces. They dressed in hazmat suits and spent over an hour spraying and wiping their modest home. They even disinfected the inside of their cars. I highly recommend Island Trauma Services.

Sean is an indispensable secret weapon in my quest to keep a lovely, but truly eccentric, 80-year-old woman from descending into legal turmoil hundreds of miles away from me in New York City. He was very agile at assessing a situation involving “a physical mess” from both a psychological and practical standpoint, and his soothing manner in tense situations and his ability to quickly dispense appropriate staff to get a job done has been invaluable to me over the two years now that we have worked together. As well, he is fair-minded cost-wise as exemplified by the fact he recently initiated a more or less supervisory role for himself, periodically just checking in at the woman’s residence to be sure the cleaning ladies she had hired on an ongoing basis are doing their jobs properly and being allowed to do so by a persnickety client. I was incredibly impressed with ITS and their team. I dealt with Sean and he could not have been more accommodating and helpful during a trying time. My husband and I have a small rental property attached to our home, and our latest tenant left the space in an abominable condition (animal excrement, smoking, etc). I knew that we were well beyond a regular cleaning service and reached out to ITS in the hopes that they had experience in remedying these types of situations. From my first phone call to the subsequent estimate to the cleaning job itself, I was truly impressed with the professionalism and the thoroughness that ITS demonstrated. While I hope that you never have the need to call a service like this, if you do then I highly recommend ITS!

My experience was excellent. I no longer live in New York but the situation that needed tending to was in N.Y.. I contacted Island Trauma and it was an instant partnership.It took a year and a half to get my mother to agree. They came out every time to help me convince her.Their kindness was second to none. They was always patient with my mom. It took four days, four trucks and a daily manpower of five. The fussing and screaming was more than a notion. The job is done and her house is the once lovely home I grew up in.I can’t thank the team enough. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs this kind of help. And let me say they are impeccably honest. They were constantly handing me hidden treasures of value.You will not be disappointed. Sean said they are working for you once they enter your home. So anything you ask will be done and it was!

Given that the process of cleaning and eliminating a family members possessions is difficult and emotional, they made iteasy and at times fun.They were kind, honest and very thorough. My mother had a very bad fall in her apartment. She had a scalp wound that resulted in a huge bleed all over her bedroom carpet and in the living room on the wood tile floor. There was blood everywhere. I T S was suggested to me from the maintenance department of the Co-op. Sean immediately went to work, contacting the insurance company and meeting me at the location, exactly on time. He photographed the situation and set up an appointment with two technicians, Bob and Joanne to work on the damaged floors. They also were on time (actually a little early). they were professional, and more importantly, sensitive and easy to deal with. They could make no promises. The blood was there for two weeks and there was a lot of it. They promised to do the best they could. I left them alone to do their work. I returned the next day and I could not believe it. Totally, completely, cleaned up. Not a trace of what happened. This is a company that knows what customer service is on every level. You dont ever want to have a need for this, and we never think we will, but this is the place to go if you should.

Luckily, I had no tragic reason to call Island Trauma, but I did need a basement clean up with an impossible-to-reach crawl space and no idea what Id find in there. I reached out to Island Trauma Services, Inc. to assist in a hoarding clean-up with a family member. From the first e-mail and phone call I received from them, I was convinced that this was the company that I wanted to deal with to accomplish the monumental task ahead. Their compassion and caring came through loud and clear from the first walk-thru evaluation until the last day of the clean-up. Sean and his crew were amazing! They were professional and compassionate at the same time, dealing with my family members in a way I never thought possible. The Island Trauma Services team were able to accomplish what I never would have been able to do as a family member. I still cant believe the amount of work they were able to accomplish in a few days. The team provided support through a very difficult process for hoarders trying to let go of their things. My family members were left with a safe and clean house that they were able to live in and be proud of once again. Doug, the company owner was there on a daily basis to check in on the process and provide additional support to everyone, including my family members. I highly recommend Island Trauma Services. They came in as strangers and left as friends. I will be forever grateful to the entire Island Trauma Services Team for the great job they did.

We hired Island Trauma Services after a horrific family tragedy. Crime scene cleanup had never been in our spectrum of knowledge. The owner Doug, was calm, thorough and compassionate on the phone when we spoke. He quickly expedited a day to do our clean up and gave us a reasonable price range to work within. He, and his team met us in a timely fashion and with the utmost compassion helped us to get to the next step of our process. They thoroughly cleaned the crime scene. They removed anything that was destroyed, and boxed paperwork that may or may not have been needed by the family at a later date. For someone faced with a similar situation to ours, I totally recommend this service. You will not be disappointed in Doug and his crew.

Neighbors rushed over to my parents’ house when they heard screaming. I was doing the screaming. My parents are hoarders, and hadn’t allowed visitors for years. My children have never been in their house, where forty years of dust-covered objects fill every floor. I was trying to clean it, but was overwhelmed by an ocean of things and memories.With no idea where to turn, I googled “hoarding” and “Long Island”. ITS came up, so I contacted them. When I met Doug at the house soon after, I told him what should stay—valuables and family photographs, and what should go. He was compassionate and understanding as he explained in detail what his team would do. That helped a lot. Unlike me, he’d done this before. That was reassuring.Several dumpsters later, his team had transformed my parents’ home. I can’t express to you the feeling of walking though that house like it was just a normal house. Doug and his team at Island Trauma Services made that happen. Their work was invaluable to me and my family.

These people are AWESOME!I first called Island Trauma Services about two years ago, to help me deal with an apartment that, over the last 30+ years, had become completely overrun with possessions, junk and garbage. It was incredibly embarrassing to me and had gotten to the point where I would let nobody in for any reason, family or friend. If the super had to get in to do some work, I would try to clear a path for him and could barely make eye contact with him while he did his work. The situation had become unbearable and, despite my attempts at cleanup, it only got worse. I heard about ITS and called them.I spoke to Doug, the owner, and found him to be very understanding and completely non-judgmental. He explained the process to me and assured me they had seen many such cases and would absolutely be able to help me reclaim my living space and my life.Then I made a bad mistake. Instead of having ITS come in, I got into a cleaning up before the cleaning lady comes mindset and thought that I would first try to, little by little, clean up the place so that it wouldnt look so horrendous when I would finally have ITS come in. Awful decision. Over the next couple of years, the situation got even worse! I finally had to face the reality that I was completely unable to do this myself and needed professional help.Once again, I called Island Trauma Services and again spoke to Doug. He was as professional and kind as he had been on our first call 2 years before, which he remembered. We arranged for one of his people, Sean, to come in and look around and assess the situation. I was so apprehensive about him looking at the place that, several times before he was scheduled to arrive, I thought about cancelling. But I didnt.When Sean arrived, he was also very understanding, kind and professional and set my mind at ease. He told me he had seen worse situations and that they definitely would be able to completely clean it up. He promised to get back to me with a proposal within the next two weeks, and he did. We agreed on using a 4 person team for 3 - 4 days (not consecutive since he thought that might be a bit overwhelming for me - and he was right).On the first day, Doug came in, along with Tyler, Meagan and Brigador. They were all very friendly, easy to work with and treated me with tremendous respect. Nothing was discarded without my permission. Papers containing confidential information, such as social security numbers or credit card numbers, were put in a separate bag for shredding. And they worked with ferocious energy, the 2 women, Meagan and Brigador, every bit as much as the men. I had to practically beg them to take a break, or have some pizza I ordered in for lunch (which Doug wanted to pay for but I declined). But, in spite of the speed and intensity with which all 4 of them worked, I had full control of the process. Nothing was discarded without my consent.In the end, it took 4 days, and on a couple of those days I met two other guys, Dwayne and Greg who were equally as friendly and hardworking as the other 4 people (I thought all along that all the guys felt honor bound to keep up with the pace of those amazing women!).At the end of it all, all the clutter and junk was gone and I was so happy to see cleanliness and space once again. I also felt like I was saying goodbye to friends. When they left, ii told them Thank you for giving me my life back.If you have such a problem, or know someone who does, DO NOT TRY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM YOURSELF! I am convinced it cannot be done. Its too overwhelming. But, with the amazing folks at ITS by your side, you will get your life back.

Doug and his team are amazing. I used them to clean out a long neglected condo and get it ready to sell. I had no prior knowledge of Island Trauma and found them through Google. First thing I liked is that there is always someone available to speak to (even if you get a voicemail, youll get called back almost immediately). They came out the very next day to provide an estimate. They guaranteed their estimate (which I could not get others to do). They were completely flexible as to hours, # of people to bring in, how much I was to be involved. They showed up on time, ready to work. They didnt throw out anything without checking first (helps if you sort through it first though, otherwise it will slow them down). They were completely non-judgemental (I suspect theyve seen a lot worse). They cleaned up after themselves and then some. The team that showed up worked non-stop and in sync with each other and me for pretty much the entire day ( I had to suggest they take a break). They were a pleasure to work with. They ended up hauling out a full truck and a separate van full of junk/trash. There was a follow up call to make sure that I was happy. Doug even arranged a flexible payment schedule to meet my needs(which was very generous). I cannot emphasize enough how great this company is to deal with. I would use them again and again and highly recommend that you do as well.

Sean McCormack immediately responded to our call, and a team led by Bob Brideson was onsite within 24 hours. They worked efficiently, respectfully and with great sensitivity, with excellent communication and constant reassurance to us, always keeping our personal preferences at the forefront of their actions. My Uncle recently passed away, and we needed some major cleaning in 3 areas of his house: the garage, attic and basement. We adored my Uncle, but he did have a tendency to collect lots of things. Things piled up over 6 feet high in these areas. We tried cleaning it out ourselves, but it was hard for both emotional and strenuous reasons. So in came ITC with Doug and Nels to the rescue! Whether their Team was 8 strong or 4 strong, they tackled each day with a smile, a laugh, and a major sensitivity to everything they touched. What a TEAM! They were responsive, flexible, attentive, fast, and thorough - it looks like a totally different house now! I cannot thank them enough for bringing their ray of sunshine and cleanliness to the gloominess of those rooms and the rest of the house as well. I totally recommend this ITC Team for whatever your cleaning out needs are - they are the very best!

Doug goes above and beyond the call of clean up. We needed him to clean a family members home that had fallen into disrepair due to illness. It was only when we were allowed bakc into the home that we realized the magnitude of what needed to be done, while being sensitive to our family members needs and requirements. Within minutes of his arriving, Doug assessed the situation (he even told me we didint need his services) and based on his kindness and sensitivity to our needs, I knew he was the man for the job. Recently, we had a tragic event occur in a relative’s home which left us in need for a trauma/biohazard cleaning service. After speaking with a few companies we decided to go with Island Trauma Services/Steri-Clean as we were very comfortable with the level of professionalism we received while initially estimating the cost of the mediation. The gentleman with whom we worked, Doug, was extremely sensitive and understanding in his handling of our situation. He was responsive and thorough in his communication with us throughout the process. I requested he provide me with pictures during mediation and he did so willingly. The pictures of the work they did were exactly as as is illustrated in their youtube video. This was an especially difficult situation as the family member’s home was a great distance from ours. ITS dealt handled everything remotely and made this difficult situation much easier to deal with. They took great care in identifying and mitigating the contaminants and went above and beyond our expectations for what we felt was a fair price. This was especially important to us as our home insurance did not provide us with any assistance. I have never written so effusively in an online review, however after this experience I felt the need to leave an honest review for those who may find themselves in such a similar, traumatic situation. I highly recommend this company as we were treated with compassion, the quality of their work was thorough and their level of professionalism was astounding.
