My family and I have really experienced poor customer service at Fred Hunter in the days after our loved one was buried. We first went in to make arrangements for the head stone on May 10 because we wanted for it to be delivered in time for the birth anniversary of our loved one on September 2. We were shocked to receive a call that we need to come in on June 30 to finalize on the head stone because the relevant person in house had failed to carry out their responsibilities. We also noticed that what we had finalized on was changed in house without our knowledge and approval. So now were back at square one and the urgency of our situation is being given scant regard. Sadly, it seems that the head stone will not be received in time but there is no care being showed as our monies have already been collected by the company. I would certainly be careful to not recommend this company if good customer service, especially, after your loved one is buried and money is collected, is what your looking for.I am compelled to come back and give an update on this. After stating my experience, I was contacted by Raymond Parker who then put me on to Shane Mitchell. The customer service I received from Shane was par excellence and I just want to express my appreciation. We were able to get our loved one headstone installed in time for the anniversary of her birthday. Thank you so much.

Fred Hunters in Hollywood Fl. Dead animals thrown on Grave. They were called and notified of Dead animals in garbage bags on graves that were giving of really Putrid odor in the neighborhood . 64th and between Taft St and McKinley St. we were told to contact animal control to remove it from THEIR property. Per Animal control, they will Not remove it off a private property . This has got to be disrespectful and Sacrilegious as it’s on someone’s grave, if only the family finds out . Sad and irresponsible on Fred Hunters part!! Be responsible !!!

No one wants to loose a loved one and the grieving that follows is overwhelming enough without having to deal with all the little details around planning a funeral. I want to say the entire staff at Fred Hunters Hollywood made this process and our loss a little easier for us. From Carmen with the preplanning, Lynn with arranging every last detail of the service over the phone because we reside in another state to the amazing undertaker that took years off mom, we thank you!! Lynn you handled everything in such short notice and we can’t thank you enough!! The service was to be a closed casket however, when we had the family viewing, mom looked so beautiful we decided to keep it open. That speaks volumes to your staff.

My family and I absolutely recommend this home. The overall compound and its facilities are very accommodating for parking, large groups, and proximity to cremation services. All the finer administrative details were managed with care, thought, and compassion by the funeral director Zacary Brookin and Whitney Olson. Both were extremely courteous, professional and efficient. They were also very knowledgeable in catering to our religious needs. My purse was stolen from out of my car, mostly likely from someone visiting their loved ones memorial as I was. What sick individuals do such a thing!No security driving hourly or surveillance cameras on the cemetery premises!I called to report the incident, and still NO ONE has gotten back to me.Update: There was not any security driving (not even after hours)around, seeing as the chain to close the entrance was still down several hours into the darkness.4/18: Missing case & flowers at loved ones headstone. Called to complain, no one to assist on the weekend. Very unprofessional!

They made such a difficult time in my family’s life, the smoothest and most memorable moment of our lives. I would have never mentally made it through the passing of my Dad without the help of Bobbie Smendra. A few months before his passing we started to communicate through email, and then phone calls ( I live out of town). As I didnt think I needed to do anything in the beginning all of a sudden I only had hours left. Due to what is going on around our country at this time, I had no intentions of handling my pre need arrangements at the moment. Then, I spoke with Miss Karyn Shires and she changed my mind. She was very knowledgeable and willing to assist me in any way possible. She helped me complete all the necessary documentation in a professional, yet caring manner. She made everything very easy to understand. In addition, she was always available to answer any questions I had during the process of putting my affairs in order. Her personality and sense of humor made the entire experience significantly more positive and pleasurable. Honestly, Karyn is the only reason I decided to handle my final arrangements now. Competency and sweetness are hard things to find in a person these days. Karyn has both of those qualities. She has my sincere appreciation and gratitude for aiding me in me in such a daunting task.

I cant say enough great things about Fred Hunters. My father passed away 3 weeks ago and my family and I were lost, heartbroken and devastated. Fred Hunters from the second we got in felt like a weight was lifted off our shoulders. The staff, the atmosphere is calming and home like. Zachery our director was compassionate, kind, understanding and comforting. The staff is always asking if you would like water, coffee and snack and that was so nice of them. He passed away tragically so eating isnt on our to-do list but being there made it much easier. The women who does the cemetery arrangements, with the blonde long hair..i cant remember her name was also an absolute doll. Everything went smooth and the service was absolutely beautiful. Michelle was timely and attentive to each and every question we had which were many. If we called the office and Michelle was unavailable Peggy made sure to see if she could resolve any issue we had. Yes, staff is really good and attentive.They say they offered an aproved irrevocable insurance assignment as a method of payment in their brochure.They did not!!! They basically drained all my accounts and left me with nothing.Lesson learned... I will purchase prepaid funeral for myself, but not with Hunters.

I am VERY disappointed with the lack of service from this funeral home in particular with Emily. She had horrible communication skills and did not walk me through what to expect to happen in the process of dealing with my brothers passing. I live out of state and at a time that you look for guidance and support I felt slighted. I DO NOT recommend this funeral home. I briefly looked online and saw 4.5 ratings and called but I am sorry I did.

Fred Hunter Funeral Homes did the memorial service for a cousin of mine. It was so beautifully handled. everyone was so compassionate and caring. Recently, I was put in the position of having to make funeral arrangements for another relative and I called Fred Hunter once again. I spoke with Bobbi Smendra to help me get everything set up. She was incredibly wonderful to work with as this was a more complicated situation. She researched things for me as well as got all the arrangements in order. After we prepaid, I still had a few more questions and she took care of that of. I highly recommend Fred Hunter Funeral Homes and I would ask for Bobbi Smendra as well if you need someone to coordinate everything for you. You wont be sorry and it will relieve you of a very difficult experience as these type things can often be. She will make it as pleasant as is humanly possible. Would like to add that my cousin did pass away and we death Josiah Le Blanc for the next part of this journey. He was wonderful to work with, took care of everything, kept in tough through the whole process and made this such an easy experience for us at such a difficult time. His follow-up at every turn was much appreciate. I would not hesitate to recommend and use Fred Hunter funeral homes. Our family is very grateful for all they have done for us twice.

Fred Hunter did a tremendous job. My loved one bought a pre-paid funeral package that made is so easy for family members financially. We only had to take his clothes and wait on the day we chooses. Outstanding customer service from Bobbi Smendra! My mother passed away and was cremated out of state. Bobbi found a niche for my mothers ashes that overlooks my sisters gravesite.

I started making arrangements for my Great-Uncle while he was in hospice care because my 85 year old aunt was overwhelmed with taking care of her husband. Because my mother passed recently, I am aware that when a person passes, the EMTs will just leave the body at home until a funeral home picks up the body. Because I didn’t want my elderly aunt to have to worry about who would come and take him, I wanted to make sure we had the funeral home chosen beforehand. Based on the google reviews, I chose Fred Hunter. When he passed around 8:15pm, I called Fred Hunter to notify them and let them know to come get the body. I was notified the next day (I live remotely and was planning from a few hours away) that his body was not removed until 2:30am! My poor family had to sit at home with their deceased loved one for SIX hours. Because this unfortunately isn’t my first funeral planning rodeo, I knew this was an unusual amount of time to lapse before pickup. When I called the next day and spoke with Michelle, she could offer me no answers but what she DID give me was a lot of attitude. I was very civil when I called and simply stated that I wanted to know what happened because I want to make sure my uncle and family are taken care of. In trying to understand something, I began to speak, apparently interrupting Michelle to which she responded in a very rude way, “MAAM, if you would let me finish...”. At another point she made a condescending remark about the fact that I told her I know from experience and because my mother in law is a funeral director that six hours was unusual, she snapped back that she shouldn’t even be talking to me since I’m not the next-of-kin “.....but you would know that because your mother in law is a funeral director”. Because they had possession of my uncle I remained cool, calm and collected in spite of her snotty attitude but the second I hung up the phone I called another funeral home who treated my family respectfully, had better prices and who retrieved the body for us shortly after. I am a business professional who knows how to handle herself and who was mourning the loss of her uncle. Because I was speaking to her hands-free in the car while driving down there, I had a witness in the car who could not believe how she spoke to me. Michelle has absolutely no business dealing with grieving families but I have to thank her because had she not been so rude, we would never have found the most amazing funeral home who treated us like family and had a number of serendipitous ‘signs’ from my uncle.

Fred Hunters Funeral Home did an excellent job of helping my family go through a difficult time by providing a very professional service with much needed personal attention from an incredible staff that was professional and friendly. All of them made the entire emotional process more bearable; from the managing director who handled the initial funeral arrangements, the burial site manager who took us to visit the cemetery, to the funeral directors who handled the viewing, memorial service, and burial ceremony. We are extremely thankful that Fred Hunters continues to be a top rated funeral home since we used them in 1995 for my fathers memorial service.

I realize this review is about a month over due but anyway... My parents had purchased their arrangements well over 20 years ago and when my Dad was failing in health, my Mom and I ventured over to Fred Hunters to confirm that everything was in order. The truth is, plans change over the years and what we purchased was no longer being offered. We got off to a rocky start as the people we were dealing with really could not fathom that my parents paid for everything up front which was to include viewing times. In any event, we negotiated for something that was truly already paid for but it appeared we were going to pay again. Fast forward to when my Dad passed away. We met Christine G and from the moment we shook hands, I knew she had our best interests at hand. She was awesome in ensuring that we were taken care of, by her, through the whole process. I want to say that the tech guy was Esiah but I could very well be mistaken and he was fantastic in seeing that our tech needs were met with our flash drive filled with photos as none of us had time to burn a CD. Everything went without a hitch for my Dads services and my family and I want to thank Christine from the bottom of our hearts. My Dad would have totally liked her so I am hoping he was watching over us and saw how fantastic she was. Kudos to this location for having such a gem on staff!

I made cremation plans in advance for my father, who is 91-years-old. Its not an especially comfortable thing to do. And I didnt know anything about the process. Fortunately, Bobbi Smendra, from Fred Hunters, answered my questions at the Taft Street building. She was calm and to the point, and I didnt feel she was trying to strong-arm me into doing something that didnt interest me. The Taft Street location is comforting and the people who greeted me there were low-key. Thats about all I could expect for a situation that is not particularly pleasant.

Our experience with Fred Hunter Funeral Home on Taft St. was very comforting while going through the toughest time in our lives 14 years ago. My grandmothers funeral was conducted here a few days ago. Although it was a difficult time for our family, Josiah - our funeral director was very professional, concerning, and attentive to every detail needed for this ceremony to flow as well as it did. Marsha was also incredible and patient with my grandmas care and overall look.The only issue/mishap that occurred was with the casket that was originally paid for- was not in stock. This was notified to my uncle kind of last minute and I guess he needed to upgrade. I am not sure how that will be handled but it certainly does not take away from the fact that ALL the staff were kind, welcoming, and that my grandmothers celebration of life was handled with outstanding care and service. Aside from one problem concerning the length of time it took to put up a plaque and which as been resolved. New procedures I have been told have been put in place and this should not be a problem in the future, I give this funeral home 5 stars. From beginning to end, the staff was compassionate and caring. I couldnt have been treated better. The upkeep and cleanliness is beyond compare with any other funeral home and cemetery.

Fred Hunter’s and their staff made this an incredibly easy process in a very difficult time. They took care of every detail and made the decision making easier when we most needed it. On behalf of my family we would like to thank all of them for making this a “good bye” my dad deserved.

The death of a loved one is always difficult and can be a very confusing time. When my husband was enrolled in hospice, I met with one of the funeral directors to prearrange the services we would need. The funeral director was very professional and empathetic. He was respectful of our wishes and did not try to oversell any product or service. Having the arrangements made ahead of time brought great peace of mind. I was so impressed with everyone that I encountered from Fred Hunter Funeral Homes. They all made a difficult time much easier to bear. I highly recommend them.

My sisters passing was unexpected, but Zack, Samarah and Fred Hunters entire staff was my rock through the process as we had to transfer her body from Jacksonville, FL. The funeral service and burial arrangements process was smooth due to the hand holding Zack and Samarah did for me and my family. They understood everything we were going through and we all worked as a team and we were able to lay my sister to rest in peace. I mother was buried there yesterday I had no other alternative because my father was already buried there 19 years ago when I purchased those lots. I have never been treated. Or humiliated in such a manner as I was yesterday. I would have use their service to a bigger extend including having their catering for after the service. Thank God that I will never have to bury a love one there again. Im totally heartbroken. Can stop crying.

My mother recently passed away, and I have never had to deal with anything like this before. When I called for the first time I spoke to Josiah LeBlanc. He was very polite and informative and from the first phone call to the last, along with all of my emails, he was great. I would recommend their services to anyone.

She helped our whole family through a very difficult time, taking the time to walk us through every step of the process. We always felt that our loved one was in caring hands and that our needs were being met.

The service received was incredible. From accepting the body at the hospital until the very last minute, everyone was excellent.A special recognition to Zachary for being patient and empathetic through it all.

Fred-Hunters Funeral Home made the whole process as painless as possible when planning a funeral. We NEVER felt pressured to add any items to our service that we did not want. They make is as easy as possible from the planning, to choices of flowers, to evening providing catering services in their community center. Doreena M. was amazing. She has been there for me and my family from the moment that I contacted them, evening calling me to obtain information so paperwork was completed prior to our meeting. It also gave me comfort to know that my loved one was not being sent to another facility for cremation and he was in their loving hands the entire time. In South Florida, there is an abundance of choices when it comes to funeral homes and services, but I will definitely be utilizing their services again when the need arises.

Honestly very disappointed with the services I received with this funeral home. Not only was I heartbroken at losing my angel infant but I wasn’t even able to get any closure right away or get to have my own ceremony for my daughter. I had to wait a little over a month for the remains of my daughter and every time I called for an update there was always a different excuse or delay. I purchased my own urn to place her in and the necklace I gave them was not even sealed when I finally got to pick her up. Not only did they spell her name incorrectly on the separate box they gave me with the rest of what could not fit in my necklace urn and how traumatizing it was for me to notice that, the box as well was not properly sealed and for me to see my dear daughter ashes just spilled on the bottom of the box from the plastic zip loc bag she was in. I was not even offered or asked about a death certificate, I have never lost a loved one before and this was my first time planning something like this so I was not even aware that I had to order and yet again make another “payment” to them. Of course I wouldnt have had a issue with purchasing the death certificate when I first came in and paid for the cremation and permit etc.. its the fact that I was not even informed and did not know. You can imagine my confusion when I didn’t receive it. I did call to ask if I was supposed to get one, I was rudely brushed off and told to just order online on their website. Very dissatisfied

Mother was cremated here. I called left multiple messages regarding prayers cards as I was out of town. Never received a returned call. Makes me wonder they got Dad’s money and it wasn’t worth the time or money to return my call. Shame on them!

My family and I cannot thank Zach and Paige for all their help, time, support and understanding during our very difficult time of the loss of 2 family members in 6 months. They were extremely patient with us and guided us in making all the decisions and plans that needed to be taken care of. Let me explain to you that when my mother purchased these niches from your business, for cremains, she did so in good faith. As it turned out my mom did not wish to be cremated and thus we purchased a burial plot for my mom.We then decided to transfer the niches to myself and my wife. Again, all this done in good faith. Now were moving to Northern Florida and no longer have a use for these niches.Now it seems that you advertise how family oriented and caring your business is and all Im asking is that you purchase these niches back from me since your third party opening and closing fees are outrageous, that I cant sell to a third party and this proves is that all your business cares about is making money and taking advantage of honest people.I do not recommend this business for pre-arrangements, there are too many hidden costs that they dont mention until its too late. And if you should want to move away, your stuck with my dilemma .

The service they provided was of the highest quality and they exceeded my expectations. The facility was also gorgeous and very spacious.Starting with Pam who offerred coffee and snacks on a silver plateau. She always came to see if I needed anything. She also helped me with the “airline letters” that my family needed for their places of employment. Eric Swenson helped me select the burial sites. They offer many different sites, styles and prices where someone can choose to be simple, fancy, or elegant. Alyson Ackbersingh was so patient in making changes in the details. There were no delays as she provided quick service, which relieved the stress that I was placed on my shoulders. She took the time to type all the songs and prayers for the funeral. Zacary was also very helpful not only in customizing the package to my specific needs but also by going above and beyond in helping with the urn and the engraving, which was breath taking. I could not get a better price and deal anywhere else. They did not quickly ask for payment nor deposits while servicing you. Their goal is truly to provide a wonderful and caring customer experience in your time of bereavement.Their price was very competitive. They offered packages with different services that made their offer very attractive and helpful. They thought of everything to make a funeral special, beautiful and successful. They have different services including a room for catering for your friends and families. Their package can fit everyone’s taste and wants, which make the experience painless while you are grieving. They tried their best to accommodate your request to make the details unique to your family. My mother was beautiful. They did well with the makeup, the hair color and style. They simplified my load by helping with the insurance company and the social security office. At the end of the funeral, they provided me a bag with all our belongings, which was appreciated.The service they provided made Fred Hunter’s the only place to go to. You will not be dealing with a business but with friends that you can cherish for years. Everyone goes above and beyond and is genuinely friendly.
