I have been coming to this shop for years for demos, t-shirts, etc. I recently had an issue where a pair of Volkl skis I had were de-laminating and under warranty (see pic). Even though I did not buy the skis here, they helped me with Volkls warranty process and really went out of their way to re-mount my bindings on a replacement ski before the warranty was fully processed by Volkl. Bryce is the employee who helped me and I was very impressed by his communication and knowledge about skis. I should add my brother has two pretty different sized feet and this shop did his boot fitting last year and for the first time he has not had any issues with a pair of boots.
This is a great shop. I needed a bike to ride the park city summit challenge. Took me like 7 phone calls to find a shop that rents road bikes. Service was great the guy who rang me out was also doing the race. He helped me answer all my questions. Great shop they can help you with all your outdoor needs.
Great place for a full tune. Ive always been able to pick up my skis the next day and the quality of their tunes are second to none.
These guys are absolute experts and total professionals. I went in to buy a new pair of ski boots and was lucky to get Mike. He sets the gold standards for boot fitting. First he measured me up and saw that my left foot is wider than the right. He then recommended a boot that was one size smaller (yes smaller) than my normal shoe size. He then proceeded to spend 1.5 hours to make a custom footbed (highly recommended) and then punched and modified the shell of my brand new Tecnica Mach 130 boots. Mike never rushed me and took took his time to get the fit to be perfect. He is is craftsman operating with pride and precision. I would highly recommend Wasatch Powder House for people that take their skiing seriously. They deliver a level of excellence and will not let you down. THANK YOU!
Around Memorial Day (Saturday) we decided it was time to up our familys ski equipment game. We strolled into the shop and had a fantastic experience with a young woman (sorry we did not get your name) and Ryan being fitted for skis and bindings. My wife also got a pair of boots (Ryan did such a great job with the boot fitting), and since they were out of my size and foot shape, Ryan referred me to another shop. Heck, we purchased helmets, goggles, clothes, socks, slippers ... whew! The prices were great, and the service spectacular (had to leave them a tip and I had never done that before). The young woman would hunt around doing whatever she could to find what we needed. This kind of experience keeps my faith in retail vs web purchase alive. In fact, I cancelled the set of skis and bindings I had ordered online. Wasatch Powder house has two loyal customers. Thank you so much!
I had a boot fitting today and I was very impressed with the service! These guys know what they’re doing. Don’t waste your time with REI, which are great at certain things, but not boot fitting. These guys at Wasatch Powder House are pros and I highly recommend! Good selection of apparel and skis as well. Thanks guys!
Had to get replacement poles - if you stay at the nearby Residence Inn, they have a discount coupon you can use.Service was great
Great staff and cool dogs. Got the boots finally fitting right where other shops had not.
Very inconsiderate, they park their company minivan across trailer parking at Home Depot so trucks with actual trailers have to park far away and haul lumber across the entire parking lot when there are dozens of open regular parking spots... at least they had their van wrapped so we know who it is doing this! Thanks.
Reasonable prices on gear + responsive, knowledgeable employees = great ski shop
Almost died because of their mount. Had a pair of dynafit 2.0 bindings mounted, charged me $64 which is way too much to start. My first day skiing a steep couloir, my first jump turn, both heels released and i fell into a pile of rocks and barely stopped before going off a 50 foot cliff. They adjusted the heel incorrectly for the dynafit 1.0 bindings which is 5mm and was supposed 0mm on the 2.0 bindings. Would recommend going somewhere else.
Great, fast, and friendly service. I stopped to get my board waxed after arriving to town, so I could hit the mountain. They made recommendations for the best resorts for snowboarding and also offered some suggestions for best place to grab food. You will be pleased and impressed by the staffs service.
Great products with a very helpful and friendly staff. I would highly recommend using them for rentals, even if it means going out of your way to do so.
Great staff, service and gear selection!!
Love the ppl and great customer service!
Incredibly impressed with the customer service at Wasatch Powder House. We were helped quickly and courteously to get the demo skis we came in for, allowing us to get up the canyon without spending a ton of time on the rental. The staff were all knowledgeable and friendly, and when my boyfriend asked about some powder baskets for his poles, they gave us a great deal. We’ll definitely be going back!
So both big and little cottonwood were closed, so we stumbled upon Powder House. My husband and I wanted to have our ski’s waxed, so it was a perfect coincidence. We waited maybe 20 minutes from start to finish, time for me to grab a Starbucks coffee! Jeremy who helped us was super friendly. When passing through from SLC up towards either Brighton/Solitude or Alta/Snowbird, make sure to stop in for good prices and great customer service!
I purchased a pair of high end ski boots here a couple of years ago. I never could get the right fit out of them. Ryan went out of his way to make sure that I had comfortable boots that allowed me to ski all day without pain. Im thrilled with my boots and I feel that Ryan went above and beyond! He has earned my business for Life!!! Thanks Ryan and thanks to the Powder House!
These are the Wasatch Front experts for demos and rentals! Theyll make sure youre skiing the gear that aligns with your ability and goals.
The team here know their stuff and i couldnt recommend them more! Fixed both my sons and my ski boots perfectly first time and good value!
Small ski shop with some solid brands. Take a look at their hat collection, they’ve got some unique choices.
I had an awesome experience with Wasatch Powder House. They heat molded and fitted my feet exactly how I needed it! My boots feel better than ever, thank you guys!!
Be aware of this shops policies. They will make you buy their demo equipment at FULL RETAIL price if you return their equipment with any damage. I understand the need to protect your gear. And damages should be paid for reasonably. However forcing people buy a pair ski for some edge damage is ridiculous. Blake told me that he was “just going to charge my room for the skis” because he was tired of dealing with it. He had the skis fixed and according to him they were fine to ski. So why did I have to buy them???? they overcharged me the number of rental days. that took another 20 minute phone call to sort out.Oh they also charged me rental fee for the skis they made me buy. They did this to three people in my group of 30.
Great boot fitters, fun demo fleet of skis, bikes and rentals. They have fit 2 pairs of boots for me, blowing out the toe box, taping the ankles and making custom insoles and both times it made a huge difference in my skiing and level of comfort. Best selection of Alta logo gear and good outerwear or gift choices. Always our go to shop up Little Cottonwood canyon and down as locals.
My boyfriend bought snow pants from the MEN’S section, we run to the mountain & realize they’re WOMENS. The snow pants did not fit & were worthless to us. We bought new snow pants at the mountain, came back THE NEXT DAY to return the women’s snow pants & they told us no. They “didn’t feel comfortable” returning snow pants that are brand new and COMPLETELY worthless to us. Great business tactics.
I cant describe how happy I am with the staff at Wasatch Powder House. They helped me with everything I needed and went beyond the norm for when it came to mounting my new skis. They called every ski shop to try and get the Jig instead of just sending me away to another shop. Overall very happy with the service, and I know I will be returning for future business.
These guys are awesome! They are extremely knowledgeable and helped get my boots fitted. My toes no longer get cold and numb like they did before! I am definitely going to buy my next pair of boots from them. Highly recommend!
Friendly and competent service! Got the questions, they give good answers!
Excellent location and service. If you need gear or a quick tune, give this place a try. Very convenient on the way up or down from the mountain.
Great place great people with lots of knowledge, Ill be back for more
Best boot fitters in SLC! Within 5 seconds of me explaining the pressure point I was having problems with Preston knew exactly what was causing the problem and how to fix it. Really saved my feet and got me extra days on the mountain. Also the custom footbeds they can get set up are amazing!Preston, you gave me OVER 9000 extra turns this season
Went in for the first time and rented some bikes. The people there couldnt even put my pedals on the bike. Then after one easy run a the derailleur hanger sheared off. I called them to see what they wanted me to do since it wasnt my bike. They told me to drive 40 mins back into town to pick out another rental pick that they had. At this time there was no point to get a new bike so I just dropped the bike off. He told me that I must of hit something and that it was my fault. I am a 130 pound guy riding on a slight decent and supposedly seared a solid aluminum piece, I never hit anything and there were no scratches or dents on the derailleur attached to it. They charged me for the broken part and the rental bike even though it was already broken. They also tried to tell me that the part was completely fine before I had rented the bike. Which is not possible because that part is incredibly difficult to break. Additionally, the person who was working was incredibly rude to my friends and I, telling us to never come back. Due to my experience here I will never come back or recommend this bike shop
Great ski rentals for any price/skill
Matt and the group at Deep Powder House are the best. Knowledgeable, friendly and have the right advise. Probably because they actually ski......Great equipment, clothes, accessories and the demo program rocks. Have had 5 pairs of skis tuned and now have countless buddies going to the DPH for the same.Try it; you wont go to another shop in the State!
The Powder House team at the base of Big Cottonwood nailed it. They had 5 of us in & out in 20 minutes with practically new equipment that contributed to a perfect long weekend. I typically dont post comments, but these guys are first-class and deserve to be recognized.
The best ski shop in the Wasatch! The staff is great and extremely knowledgeable, they have awesome rental and demo equipment, and do exellent wax & tunes. For rentals and purchases Wasatch Powder House is the place to go!
Not just for winter! The ski rentals are great here, but visit in summer to rent road or mountains bikes, or try out new trail running shoes. The staff is always friendly and welcoming when I visit, and I love the design of the store too.
Cant say enough how impressed I was from start to finish. Wife and I were staying next door at the Hyatt and wanted to rent skis before we went to the mountain to avoid the lines and crowds. The time they took and attn to detail was beyond my expectations. Prices were great compared to what we had found online. The morning of our schedule ski day the canyon was closed due to avalanche mitigation and they suggested we head in another direction to avoid spending hours in traffic. GREAT CALL! We spoke to another guest who spent 3 hours to get to the resort. Which mind you most close at 4pm.We asked what happens if we cant get the skis back until morning? The response was sleep in, get breakfast. Well be here. Pretty solid. We decided after returning the skis that we had a half day to kill before our flight and asked about hiking options. We wanted to go snowshoeing and hadnt a clue where to begin with our limited time left in SLC.Im bad with names but Michael? not only pulled up a map and made a great suggestion including directions. Got us the shoes and poles we needed and made our last day in the mountains even better than expected. Were already talking about heading back and wouldnt think of going anywhere for gear other than Powder house.Thank you again for making our trip to SLC such a great experience. Hope we see you again soon!
Did a little research prior to my trip to Utah this February & settled on the Wasatch Powder House to have some fitting work done on my existing ski boots. I was greeted by Matt within a minute of walking in the door the day of my arrival in UT and he immediately went to work evaluating the fit of my current boot, which had been poorly fit several years back at a ski shop on the East coast. Matt made a quick, thorough assessment, talked me through what he was planning to do with my boots, gave an accurate cost & time estimate, then immediately took them back for surgery. Picked my boots up later that night and skied all day the next three days pain free & and had much better control of my skis after his work. I had one tweak performed later in the week & he covered it at no cost. I honestly thought I was going to have to trash these boots before meeting with Matt, but he salvaged them and gave me confidence Ill get many great years of use from these boots. Also demod two pair of powder skis from WPH during my stay and had nothing but the best experience. This location was also very convenient to the hotel we were staying, which was in the same parking lot. Matt also provided great dining recommendations upon my request, as we were unfamiliar with the area. Great overall experience here and would fully recommend to any locals or folks traveling into the area for a ski vacation.
Very knowledgeable, friendly staff. Rentals are amazing quality at prices competitive with resorts and there is no wait!
The guys at the shop are very nice, but Ive never been impressed by their recommendations. They fit me in super tight ski boots (think no circulation). Not professional advice. Also pushed me to buy a demo enduro bike, saying it fit me great when a professional fit me on a womens specific light weight and Im so much happier. Good gear and great blowouts. Not the best gear advice. :/
Such a great shop. rented from them and the staff were awesome and so helpful. will definitely recommend to everyone!
Great service !! Thank you Heather.
WPH/DPH is awesome!!! They know what they are talking about, carry great brands and lets not forget to mention they are LCC folks!!!
Great professional friendly boot fitting.
Great bootfitters. Wonderful recommendations on gear.
This is the best ski shop around. Their tune ups are amazing awesome customer service I never go anywhere but there
Where to start .. dont go here if you want any ski work done. My buddy bought binding and had them mounted at the Wasatch Powder House in the valley. The bindings were broken at no fault (that I know of) of the company. The problem was when my buddy went back in to have the bindings checked they unintelligent stated Must be because you center mounted your skis dude. After a brief argument the employee would not accept that the binding needed to be replaced and refused his buisness. A month later we returned to the store after lots of frustration where we were able to talk to a manager who was extremely embarrassed by the idiotic remarks made by one of his shop boys. He apologized multiple times and gave us both free ski tune coupons. Later that spring (lifts still open) we decided to redeem our tunes. When we walked in we were not greeted by kindness and were told they had closed their tune shop till the fall .. really? Oh well. This fall on the third week of October I went in to see if I could get the skis tuned .. believe it or not the tune shop was still unopen and they would not tune the skis. Very frustrated at this point I left to simmer over and reflect. I later called to see if the shop was open and i was recieved by a blunt no then they hung up. I have decided that I do not want any type of service this company could provided and I honestly worried about the outcome of my skis. I have decided to have nothing to do with this company and Im so relieved I never have to deal with them again.Still have 2 free tune coupons if anyone if willing to risk their skis destruction.Yayyyyy no more WPH for me!! Honest relief
Great place and great service....even when understaffed due to road closures they went the extra mile.
Great first experience! Staff is super friendly and helpful :) fixed my sons bike tire in a jiffy!!!
Great service, really know what they are doing
I love the Wasatch Powder House they always are super friendly and professional. They stock Armada, Rossignol, and Volkl. They always have cool hats. They have these crazy indian snow mittens with beads in stock and I want them. What else do you need?
I was very disappointed in my last experience at WPH. My friend and I were shopping around for a new Arcteryx jacket and found they were having a 20% sale on all Arcteryx Jackets and Pants, which is at least what their sign said. Excited about the sale, I picked out a causal shell and went up to purchase and they informed me that this was not for sale. I asked them about the sign and the front desk employee flat out just said its not for sale (worst customer service Ive been witness too in awhile). No big deal, I took it back. Later on my friend found the exact puff coat she was looking for directly under the 20% FOR SALE sign. She went up to purchase and the same employee said this isnt for sale either. We walked him over to exactly where we found the winter coat and showed him the sign. No apologies or anything, he just said this isnt for sale. Almost like we were annoying him that he actually had to talk to a customer. At this point, we are both unset and asked to speak to the manager. We spoke to this guy and he says the sign only applies to WINTER coats. Well I showed him the PUFF COAT that was under the sign and he tried to inform me that puff coats are not just winter coats and can be seasonal, meaning it didnt apply to the sale. I informed him that Ive never seen an normal human being walking around in the spring or summer with a PUFF coat on, but he said this happens all the time. Poor form on his end and he knew he was in the wrong. I would have felt better about him just admitting to the shops mistake and maybe working with us on this purchase, but no it was another example of poor customer service. Ive spend a lot of money and time on WPH and will never go back based on my experience. Thanks Powder House, you lost two loyal customers.
Friendly staff. Good place to find discounted ski gear in the off season.
Go see these folks for bike rental, skis, apparel and trail shoes. Very helpful, local staff with all the insider info on trails, mountains and more.
Great staff, top notch products
Best bootfitter in town.
Friendly employees and awesome gear.
I just rented a bike it was so easy
Poor customer service
