After retiring, I knew I could not stay at home and wanted a way to give back. Joining SCORE became the choice as I wanted to help small business owners and nonprofits. This SCORE chapter has great people to work with and so many opportunities for a volunteer to participate no matter what skill set you have. SCORE has a wonderful set of resources to offer those looking to get into business; those in business interested in growing and those in business who are in need of succession planning. Over 10,000 volunteers, with business experience ranging from owning their own business to holding executive positions in Americas largest corporations are available to mentor clients at no cost and in a confidential setting. SCORE also offers online templates, live and online workshops on a variety of business topics and one-to-one mentoring for any business venture.

Have lived in the low country for almost 30 years, and served on many non-profit boards after selling several of my businesses. Karen, one of the SCORE business mentors, was invaluable during the process of working with the 2020 Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) and applying for the 2020 Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan forgiveness. She coordinated webinars and was very responsive to emails and phone calls with specific questions. Karen understood these programs and gave excellent advice on how to proceed with the necessary steps. Our agency is a non-profit, with limited financial resources, and we are very appreciative of her knowledge and willingness to assist.
