I love this gym! The short version: Deanna and Luis create a welcoming environment, no matter what your skill level. You will learn practical self-defense while getting a good workout and even building community.I take both cardio and striking classes. In the striking classes, Luis does not just stick to a rigid approach, but really focuses on self-defense, bringing in elements of jiu-jitsu. The classes are usually small enough that we get personal feedback. They are also mixed level, with some people who are advanced and others who have never thrown a punch. That allows us to learn from each other as well as from the instructors. When Luis teaches, Deanna participates in the class as well, so she can also give feedback. Since we rotate partners, we get to practice with a variety of skill levels.In the cardio classes, Deanna makes us work! But she also makes the class fun and engaging. Often I’m surprised when class is over. We practice the skills we’ve learned in striking, but now focusing on repetition and getting our heart rates up.Both Deanna and Luis know how to structure the classes to help those of us who are not natural athletes and who might struggle some with some of the techniques. They step out the instruction so we build our skills in a way that makes sense.

In addition to being a great Krav Maga instructor, Deanna also has a strong knowledge of physiology and barbell work.I had a back squat session with her, and in one hour, she analyzed my squat, completely broke it down, and rebuilt it. By the time I left, I knew not only the mechanics of a proper squat, but I also knew how it felt.Two big thumbs up!
