I have been going to see Joanna for two years, and have found my safe place at Matters Of The Heart. Joanna has helped me understand how I process the uncertainties in life, uncovered my truths, and helped me navigate through some of the hardest moments in my life. She listens with out judgement, speaks with compassion, and leads with great knowledge. She has given me strength and hope when I have felt hopeless. Her words carry with me daily and I could never truly repay her for the messages she has given me.

I may or may not be biased... but I love that our group here knows what each counselor’s giftings are and are paired with the clients who need their specific skills and strengths. I adore each person at this practice and knowing that each of these counselors have different strengths and abilities to help their clients achieve whatever the goals they have for themselves.

Joanna Dixon is seriously the most intelligent, caring, hilarious, God-fearing woman I have ever met! After battling years of depression and anxiety, Joanna helped me get to the root of my problem and I’ve never been the same since. She really is a life changer. She challenged me, was a shoulder for me to cry on, and was just a friend when I felt like I didn’t have any. I’ve gone through multiple counselors and none of them were effective for me until I found Joanna. If you’re considering getting therapy at Matters of The Heart, please do not hesitate. It’ll be one of the best decisions you’ll ever make.

Joanna Dixon is ABSOLUTELY amazing!!! I am truly thankful for her, her patience, her knowledge, her love, and most of all her understanding. She taught me so many things but the most important thing was to love myself. I am stronger because of her and I will forever be grateful to her❤️

Joanna Finney Dixon spoke to a group of women educators in February. Self-care was the focus of her topic, and it was well received by the participants. Joannas calm, but humorous, presentation was an inspiration to us. She left us with advice for the coming days and laughs that relieved stress. We were very thankful for the time she spent with us.

Joanna is a highly effective communicator and I’ve found it very interesting working with her. Her honest insights and caring personality were a great fit for me. The atmosphere is a very quaint early 1900s home that reminded me of my grandmothers house...if my grandmother had been a star on an HGTV home renovation show that is. It is always so welcoming and nice to be able to make yourself at home in a counseling setting. Often, I eat dinner before meeting in her kitchen and lounge on the front porch swing in the evening. It’s is extremely relaxing.

Joaana Dixon and her team have saved me in the darkest times of my life. Matters of the Heart Counseling is my #1 recommendation for therapy in Tennessee - for anyone. Period.Additionally, learning about so many resources for self-help and in discussion, such as the Enneagram, Codependency, and options for addressing and treating trauma in addition to hardships in relationships makes this practice and its members the most comprehensive and holistic, safe haven for me.My life has transformed from the therapy 1:1 work with Joaana for over 5 years, now. Literally gone from the darkest pits of my mind and from working a minimum wage job to deciding to go back to finish my bachelors and having a vision for my future, all the while executing it with her kind and understanding wisdom and advice. Love her homework assignments, too...! Im honored and proud to finally write this review, and share that Im proud of who I am today...and I owe a large part of that to Joanna and her practice.I always feel welcomed and loved no matter how much of a mess I be at Matters of the Heart.Joaana has inspired & motivated me and also empowered me in ways that are hard to describe. She is unique and has insight that I have never found from another therapist...Joaana and her team have inspired me to be the best version of myself for not only others, but also for myself and in my faith & relationship in Jesus. With ease, Joaana has challenged my initial, crippling complaints of anxiety with encouraging me in saying, man...lets first take a look and address the trauma youve been through. Its the root of so many issues, Ive learned, and I love coming back in order to keep myself in check and accountable.Joaanas EMDR treatment saved me from feeling the need for therapy for a loooooong time, too. Again, I cannot say enough to compliment and recommend Matters of the Heart Counseling to anyone and in any walk of life.

This place is amazing! I did not tell any of my friends I was going to counseling until after our 2nd meeting with Becky, after the 2nd session I knew my marriage was going to grow in the great direction it deserved!! Its a great learning, confident growing, free expressive/NON-JUDGMENTAL environment that I thought I would.never feel comfortable in but I LOVED IT!! I learn so much about my traumas, my wife of 5 years (together for 12), and our future!! I 1000% recommend to any and everyone!

Joanna is truly remarkable. She listens intently, cares deeply, and creates an open atmosphere of understanding where no judgement is present. She helped me moved to a state of healthiness emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I highly recommend her counseling services to anyone seeking guidance, encouragement, or even just a check-up to stay healthy. Mental health is so important, and she is a wonderful advocate and partner to have on your side!

Joanna definitely offers something that other therapists do not. She is an active partner who listens and does not judge. She is relatable and approachable, and is not afraid to draw from her own experiences. She is honest and patient as well as funny and spirited. Her down-to-earth nature made her the right person to help my wife and I as we sought to communicate more effectively and meet each others needs more fully.

Joanna has a splendid balance of directness and a graceful touch in her sessions. She is empathetic, realistic, respectful, non-judge mental, and immensely relatable. Her questions, even gently asked, probe past the surface to make you consider the heart of the matter, and to think through issues with a different persoective. You can tell her goal is always your personal growth, whether it’s in communication, behavior, relationships, or in dealing with a specific issue - she manages to empower you to explore new avenues and find your own ways to grow. Warm, smart, patient, compassionate - I would absolutely recommend Joanna to any individual or couple seeking support, reflection, and and the tools for growth.
