While Doris was friendly and her prices were reasonable, her work on hemming my dress was novice. The stitching was inconsistent, coming undone in areas, and generally done in a messy manor. Unfortunately, I will not be a return customer, nor would I recommend this shop.

I would give negative stars if I could. I brought my wedding dress to Doris four weeks before the wedding. She told me how tight on time it was and we agreed that I’d come back in two weeks for a second fitting after she’d taken up the length, and we’d look at adjusting the top then. On the day she said she’d call I didn’t hear from her so I called her the next day, and to my shock she said she hadn’t done anything to the dress. It’s now two weeks to the wedding and nothing has been done to the dress...she didn’t call to say she was behind. She didn’t call to give me a heads up, she just said we’d had a miscommunication and that she hadn’t done anything because she thought she was just waiting to do something until the second fitting. We’d spent thirty minutes the last fitting discussing exactly what was to be done before the next one. I wanted a good amount taken up and she didn’t agree so we compromised and said we’d go a little longer than I wanted to check the length at the next fitting in case I wanted more taken off. There was no miscommunication, just a failure to complete the work. I don’t know how anyone can run a business so irresponsibly. I’m now in a huge bind, even more pressed for time, because most likely she mismanaged her time, or took on a job she couldn’t complete at my expense.

Always does a fantastic job! I’ve taken a few dresses and work pants and they’re always done on time and done wonderfully! Super friendly and easy to work with. Would go back in a heartbeat!

We have had the good fortune to engage the services of Doris Black on two recent occasions: firsty the creation of custom cushions, spread and dust ruffle for our master bedroom and secondly the alteration of several fleece tops and mens jeans. In both cases her work was outstanding. She is equally at home in both complex and more ordinary projects. She is an expert in her craft and prices are reasonable and services prompt. Not least, she is a joy to work with. We are very pleased to recommend Doris without reservation.

Totally unreliable. She said she would have my pants ready in 1 month. One month and three weeks later I had not heard from her. Called--kept getting answerphone. She called back next day (Tuesday or Wednesday) and said they were not ready but that she would be in the shop on Friday and I could pick them up then. Was heading out to get them on Friday morning after her posted Open hours but thought it best to call before I went just to be sure--got answerphone--twice. She called back around noon and said I could come in and get them--finally! I think she takes in more orders than she can handle, and then doesnt bother to inform the customer that work is not/will not be completed when promised.
