Installing a gas fireplace/stove in our basement. They came out and gave me a verbal estimate. Then they scheduled the subcontractor to do the work. He came and did it. There was a few days in between these steps, but we werent in a huge rush. The point is they did what they said without me having to call back, check up, harass, or remind them. THAT was refreshing! Many contractors are so busy now they dont follow up or return calls.The only surprise was the subcontractor wanted to be paid and billed us for the whole project which included setting and installing the stove when he completed just installing the rough in of the flue in the ceiling. (We still need to Drywall and finish the basement before setting/installing a firee standing stove. In fact we had not yet even purchased a stove. ) Since I wasnt home at the time, my wife paid the whole amount.When I talked to the gentleman who gave me the estimate I found out he was actually the owner. He was the third generation Smitty! After discussing the situation he was willing to postpone that prepaid labor from his stovepipe materials bill until we purchased and installed the stove. Although we did end up paying for all the materials, I was certainly impressed with his whole approach and desire to take care of us. His attitude and approach permeates the entire staff. I am now a loyal fan of Smittys and feel theyve earned my 5 star ranking! Im sure they all their customers the same way!

Great staff good to work with just an excellent place

I just made my first visit to Smittys Fireplace Shop exploring options for a new walkway... the guy came out to help me and he provided me not only valuable information on materials, but also helped me figure out which way might be best for price and amount of work that could be involved for the various type of stone. Great visit, great place!

I love this place. The staff is knowledgable, friendly and most of all quick to assist you. Ive been working on a freestanding fireplace from the early 2000s and needed to replace several components and they either had or located each component I needed without trouble and managed to save me some cash on shipping. Great jobs guys and keep up the good work!

We bought stove pipe and various items there before. Then decided we needed another wood stove. Johno helped us for over 2 hours. He was so patient, kind and knowledgable. The fork lift driver Brett was very nice too and fun to work with and he knew exactly what to do. The owner and front desk gal were great. It is so nice to deal with such nice people. Thank you so much for all your great help.
