Scott who came to give us the estimated took the time to explain what would be done to prune our trees. He was very professional and we received the quote the next day, their prices were reasonable. On the day of the work they came on time and were quite professional, they certainly have any equipment that might be needed. They made sure everything was cleaned up prior to leaving. I would recommend them to anyone.

Downes Tree removed a tree that fell on my driveway during Hurricane Isaias. The staff in the office was helpful and quick to assist me, and the team that removed the tree was good at communicating with me, efficient, quick, and organized. From set up to clean up the entire process took about 15 min or so. Very professional, it was a pleasure. I would certainly recommend them to anyone in need of tree removal.

I could not have imagined a better experience than the one I had with Downes! Fair and respectful, they fixed my problem while simultaneously assuring me that they were happy to perform the work however I wanted. Carly was informative and kind, and I never once doubted that the job would be done punctually and correctly. It was very nice to deal with such a wonderful company during these troubled times!

Downs just trimmed some huge trees in my yard today (07/27/2020). They run a professional operation. Every single worker on site took the time to walk around the yard, and verify all of the trees to be trimmed. They carefully placed a cardboard material on my lawn to minimize damage as the heavy trucks drove on to it. Upon completion, they cleaned the area so well that there were no sign that they were even there, except for the trimmed trees. The person I dealt with was Scott Romandetta, I’d recommend asking for him, and I also recommend this company.

I also wanted to let you know how happy everyone was with the work performed and the professionalism of your team. All the crew that were here really went above and beyond to make everything look great. Veronica did a fantastic job of coordinating the job as well.

Downes apparently was working for Morris County taking down diseased trees. When I approached them to discuss the trees on my property, one of the workers screamed at me.Totally unnecessary, zero to 100 anger within 10 seconds of me walking out of the house.

I’m just sorry a 5 is as high as I can rate them. How people could have them down to a 3.9 is beyond me, they hit it out of the park on every mark I could think of. Jason is very fairly priced and is highly knowledgeable in every phase of his craft. All his crew as well as his partner John are just as friendly as anyone you would want to meet PS John is his dad great family business

They did a fantastic job downing trees, pruning and removing deadwood on an acre property. They listen, are safe and thorough, cleanup beautifully, and were incredibly respectful and professional to work with. So happy! Worth every penny.

Downes removed one tree and one that fell over. They cut back all our other trees. A week later came back to grind the stumps. They were very professional and did everything we need to a reasonable price. They clean after everything.

I just purchased firewood for two locations for the upcoming winter season. This was my first dealing with Downes and I an so glad I called them. From Rebekah taking my orders and scheduling the deliveries and the yard crew and driver that picked and delivered my orders the expierence was excellent. The quality of the firewood was so much better than other suppliers I have dealt with in the past, no junk was part of the deliveries. Keep these guys in mind as to they are very customer centric.

Had the opportunity to have mulch delivered to my home before our graduation party. I was very happy with the work that was done. Worked with Veronica. She was extremely helpful and very professional on the phone. I would recommend when calling Downes and looking for mulch, ask for Veronica.

Woman on the phone said they would come over on a Thursday, 4 weeks ago for an estimate and I didnt need to be there. They never even showed up or called me to explain why. NO estimate NO phone call! Must be good to be in the tree trimming business as they obviously could care less about new customers.

The town of Kearny had Downes remove an old tree stump from the front of my property and install a new tree. The men did a fantastic job and clean up, and they were all very pleasant - a GREAT CREW and worked well together. They also put a large green plastic zipper water container around the tree to insure its grown and protection. I would highly recommend Downes.

Great company. Had severe storm damage this past storm (as did most people) and they were so helpful. While they had so many emergencies to handle I didnt feel like I was getting forgotten at all. The work was done in a timely manner and the crew couldnt have been more professional. Will recommend to anyone who asks.

These people are extremely inconsiderate .they are over priced for absolutely no reason and very rude . they claim that they want to help and accommodate everyone but they really only care about getting payed . all they have to do is cut some branches down and yet somehow they end up breaking stuff on my property and my property is not even the one being worked on . I suggest you dont waste your time nor money on these inconsiderate people. very rude workers and even more rude operators . .. Very inconsiderate. Neighbors on the block used them. Had so much debris and dust on our cars. Company blamed residents for not moving cars when they hear a chainsaw. Workers claimed they notified residents to move cars. They did not. Peter Slump of company claims its not his problem what his workers tell people. Man takes no responsibility for anything, including the actions of his own workers. No apology or any remorse shown to the residents of May Street. Shame on you Peter Slump and your lying workers who disrespect the beautiful town of Hawthorne!

We had a 135 tulip tree which the limbs were hanging over our house and near wires. Our experience with Downes was exemplary. From scheduling an appointment with Carly in the office who was very friendly and knowledgeable, to our estimate with Scott who came on time and always returned our phone calls promptly. The crew that came the day to remove our 135 tulip tree could not have been more professional. The safety guy arrived ahead of the crew and surveyed the area, rang our neighbors bell to ask if they wanted to move their cars so as not to be in the way of any damage. The crane and trucks arrived shortly after and got right to work. They protected our lawn where they had to put their crane truck so their was minimal if any damage. This humongous tree came down so quickly and efficiently considering its enormous size and they cleaned our property up so that you would not even know they were there. I would definitely recommend this company.

Fast delivery, great wood, we had the best Thanksgiving fire and are stacked up and ready for the cold weather!

Wanted to try them so I gave them a simple job of deep root fertilizer on my trees. Got the quote and I said ok. A month pasted I heard nothing from them. So I thought to myself Im not gonna pursue business with a company that just doesnt show up. A month later I get a 60 day late payment notice from them. They never left flags or notice on my door when the service was done. Clerk told me I have to take the word of my service techs. Really Im just suppose to trust you on the honor system. No thanks, Ill give them the money, small fee to end years of head aches.

They are the worst. First of all I took days off from work for the person to never show up to give me an estimate. And second once I call the company to get the job done. They never called to notify me when they were coming so they just show up at my home without anyone being there. My husband was leaving for work and he had to send them away. The person contacted me and gave me an attitude telling me we are costing them money he did not let me explain nor he wanted to listen that no one was home. I suggest everyone to not use them.

The price was competitive; otherwise the service was mediocre. While they successfully removed the tree, they sprayed shavings onto the wood shingles of my house and into nearby bushes and failed to clean this up, which invited carpenter ants and termites. They damaged shrubs. While I expected damage to the yard, the damage was far more widespread than I could imagine.

They piled 3 feet of snow from the road in front of my driveway and blocked my house. Inconsiderate people. Dont have common sense that they should not block driveway when they plow. My car got stuck over the snow they left. I almost had a heart attack cleaning the snow at midnight! Dont ever use them

WARNING do not use this company. After damaging my vehicle with their equipment they denied doing the damage and refused to pay. Body shop work cost me upwards of $1800 to repair. Attempted to reach their insurance company which is as crooked as they are. BEWARE there is a reason they have so many poor reviews. This company should be shut down. Also watch out for their trucks, they do not follow DOT regulations. If youre DOT and reading this their DOT # is 1520448

They did work in my neighbors yard and put the planks to stabilize the truckIN my garden. They then moved the parked the chipper on my swale after moving the temporary barrier that was there to allow the grass to grow.They cleaned her yard up, but the front of my house was a mess.Extremely rude

Top soil had more pebbles than soil,after sun beat on it, became hard and gray looking,grass could not root,after a summer full of rain,all that was left was pebbles
