This was my first time visit at Ray’s, and the experience I had with them was absolutely incredible. As someone who doesn’t know much about cars, I felt like Steve did a great job explaining the situation with my car without making me feel dumb. It was reasonably priced too considering the work they had to do. I definitely plan to use them in the future. Plus they are in a perfect location, close to my job and my house.

Ray’s did a wonderful job replacing the rear bearings on my vehicle! When an issue came up where they couldn’t remove an old bolt, instead of breaking it and costing me more, they thought outside the box and found an alternative way in getting it done. The guys really know what they are doing, and for a great price! I highly recommend!

Steve at Ray’s Auto Service in Haverhill provides exceptional service and is always willing to assist and provide honest advice as needed. He’s never one to attempt to make a profit and will only do the work that is absolutely needed and at an incredibly fair price. The workmanship is always stellar. My wife and I live about 15 minutes away and Steve is always nice enoughto lend us a loaner car for the interim while we wait to have our car worked on. I cannot recommend this Auto Shop enough. Steve went above and beyond during my experience with Rays auto. I have been out of work during the pandemic so money is tight right know. Perfect time for my starter to go on my Honda civic! I have been putting off getting new front breaks and rotors due to a tight budget, as well as a serpentine belt.So I told Steve for now i would just get the starter replaced. When Steve called me back to let me know my breaks were going to cause some serious damage if i kept driving on them the way they were, not only did he offer me a price to fix both that i could not refuse, he replaced my serpentine belt for free! Great customer service

My wife and I used to have our cars serviced at a local chain because of the very cheap oil changes. The staff were always friendly and courteous to my kids. I kept giving them the benefit of the doubt because I had a hard time believing these courteous people would lie to my face. I brought my Corolla into them for an oil change and a tire rotation and told them my drivers side rear tire had low pressure and I had just added air. I got the car back they said they rotated the tires and couldnt find a leak. A few days later the same drivers side rear tire was low again; I brought it back they found a nail, did a patch, and rotated (I hope) the tires they claimed they had rotated before.When we bought a used Camry for my wife the first time we brought it in they sold her a new battery even though the battery was only two years old. So when she needed a new 02 sensor my trust had begun to erode so we found Rays online with good reviews and got a quote from them: Rays was about $200 less.Then I brought my Corolla to the chain for an oil change and tire rotation. I was told the rear brakes needed an alignment. I had just done front and back brake pads and rotors myself about two months before, so maybe I had screwed something up I thought. The next day my whole car vibrated violently when accelerating. Brought it back to them and the parking brake had gotten stuck and completely melted the drum. They replaced the drum. The next day the body of the car was vibrating when braking. I called the shop and the corporate office. Brought it back, got a call a few hours later claiming that it wasnt the rear brakes they had just messed up twice but now the front brakes (I had just done two months earlier and which no one had mentioned were problematic in the weeks previous two visits) were completely shot: there were no pads left, I needed new brakes lines, etc). They quote $1,100 worth of work. So I told them I would pick my car up and take it for a second opinion and they gave a written estimate of all the work I needed on the front brakes.I called Rays, spoke with Steve, and brought my car to him. He discovered the rear wheel wouldnt spin because the drum was completely coated with excessive grease causing the vibration through the body when braking and the front brakes were totally fine. He meticulously documented his findings and emailed me the pictures so I could get refunded for the work by the chains corporate office. He engaged in a lot of back and forth with me for what was only about a $350 job. After discovering this overt fraud, I found out the service manager I had been dealing with at the chain had previously been arrested for theft by deception, exactly what he attempted with me. So who knows how much work I paid for at the other shop that was never even done.That was about two years ago. Weve been bringing both our cars to Rays ever since. There havent been any problems with the work. We love the loaner cars; the substitute transportation makes me it so much easier to have the car serviced. And they like to use quality parts and give a 24,000 mile/2 year warranty work included. So theyre not the cheapest around, but as I learned I probably lost a lot of money chasing a $19.99 oil change, that I may not have even received. Honest, competent mechanics are hard to come by. Id give Steve a kidney if he needed it.

New owner Steve really cares about his customers. He has always been straight forward with me explaining things, and showing me exactly what issues are. Hes great at giving you a heads up when needed service may be coming up. He also does his best to get good parts at reasonable prices when he can, without skimping on quality. They often have a loaner vehicle available to use or will offer to give you a ride for longer repairs.

Excellent service. Staff fantastic and thoroughly go from bumper to bumper and stop to show you each issue as they go and explain it all completely. They also work with you on the cost. Your safety is there main concern. They are taking care of both my daughters cars. I feel safe knowing they are doing the work.

This shop was recently sold and the new owner Steve is FANTASTIC!!! I have gone to Steve for years and he is the best mechanic around. Hes fair, honest and an overall genuinely good guy. So much so that I was willing to travel over an hour from my home to have him service my car, and I will continue to do so in the future.As mentioned, Steve is a great mechanic and can fix any kind of car. Only service shop I called that actually sounded welcoming and genuine over the phone, which immediately led to me heading over. After talking about the issue surrounding my visit we discussed potential options given the circumstances. Steve at Rays is a top notch guy. One he know what he is talking about as well as doing the best for his customer. I have an older soon to be gone b5 Passat. Came in for heater core issue. He did a lot of testing to get it to give heat. It did partially then stopped. Basically the car is not with it. Rather then charge me Steve said not satisfied with it and here is your key. He and I chatted for another 20 minutes about a number of other things. I trust him for all my future repairs and service again credit to his profession and just all around super honest.

Steve and his staff are great. I tried them on one of my cars for an oil change. Now he works on all 5 of my vehicles for anything they need. Every time I had an issue steve would say dont worry, well take care of it. They are fair and honest. Truly this is one mechanic you can honestly trust. I would recommend them to anyone.

My car had issues starting up, so I brought it to the mechanic down my street. He held my car for three weeks and did nothing to help it. Very disappointed, I took my car back. After some research, I decided to take my car to Ray’s since they had such high ratings. I am so happy I did! Steve was very helpful and communicated well. By the end of the same day I brought my car in, he had already figured out what was wrong with it! He made sure I understood what was wrong with my car and took very well care of it! Whenever I go into Rays no matter what the problem Im met with a smile put at ease and always impressed with their pricing and competence ... they explain issues so that your very comfortable before the work is completed and given an estimate...they have rental cars available and I never feel stranded. Love this place more than I can tell you ... try them youll never leave!! This is my go to auto repair shop in the area...theyve been around a very long time ... that speaks volumes about their work and customer care.

Exceptional shop! I hit debris on the highway en route to Maine and needed a quick fix on my car to get back on the road that day. Shop happily obliged and charged a very reasonable price. Also, Ruby the shop dog is the cutest!

I have brought my car to Rays for years. Even though I now live 2-3 hours away, I try to bring it in for service in Haverhill. The staff is super knowledgeable and I have 100% percent trust in their explanations and advice. There biggest concern is doing good work and doing right by the customer. Over the years they have helped me keep my car in good working order and always give me honest advice as far as when repairs need to be done. I would recommend them, without hesitation, to anyone.

From exhaust to oil changes you will not find a more honest auto repair shop. I have shopped around and Rays is fair priced and up front. The waiting room is spotless. They offer online scheduling. They also have a great loyalty program that earns you points/ credit towards future work.

Anyone who owns a vehicle knows how difficult it is to get quality service at an affordable price, but Rays delivers. I had several issues with my older vehicle that needed addressing and Rays handled the repairs on the first visit and at a price I could afford with five star customer service. I recommend Rays to anyone that wants quality service.

So far with my vehicles, the service is great. unfortunately, they are overpriced. the last repair work I had done, I called to 4 other mechanics and learned that Rays charged 30% more than all the garages I called for the same work. Additionally, they did additional work they said was standard. At least two of the 4 I called disagree. I didnt ask the other two. Im so tired of having to double check the auto mechanics to make sure Im not getting screwed. Itll be nice to find one where I dont feel the need to do this. Alas, it will not be with Rays

Very disappointed with the quality of service my vehicle was brought to them for a inspection but was told by the mechanic a spring was broken I had a bushing issue,tires, a spot of rust had sharp edges and some other issues were going to hinder the situation creating essentially a list of problems.After stepping back and assessing the vehicle it was taken to another mechanic who found nothing wrong just needed tires. no issues, no broken spring, or any concerns. they turned a simple issue into something to be perceived as a lot more essentially leading you to believe costly repairs.I would definitely get a second opinion before purchasing repairs from this shop. Saved a lot of money.Clearly the owner turned the shop over to a bunch of incompetent children who need further training.

Rays is everything you wish your auto mechanics business should be; friendly, well-organized, prompt, competent and honest. Really a different experience than Ive had in 46 years of owning cars!

My husband drives a 2006 Honda Element which inexplicably would stall when decelerating or coming to a stop. Given the fact that the brakes and steering are powered, this was extremely dangerous! So...we took it back to the dealer who put it on the computer and announced that nothing was wrong.($300) The problem continued-we returned, their tech took if for a spin (nothing), they tested it again(nothing), so we took it to Commonwealth, as the problem continued-even worsened, they tested-(nothing). We took it to Meineke..they replaced a sensor and exhaust pipe. ($650)it seemed ok for 2 days, then stalling resumed. Finally, we returned to Rays who correctly diagnosed it to be a valve problem-fixed it pronto, and since, it runs like new.. They were courteous, (unlike the Honda people), open and honest (Ditto) gave us a loner, and didnt charge an arm & a leg. We highly recommend!!

I’ve been going to rays for a few years and recently it was sold. Went there today for an oil change and to have some suspension noise diagnosed. Steve the new owner brought me into the bay and explained what was going on with the noise and what needed to be fixed soon and what could wait. Steve was closing up and noticed a small area of oil where my car was parked in the lot after the oil change. He thought that it was oil residue from the oil change but it could have been a leaking oil filter. It bothered him so much that he called me at 7:30 that night to tell me and that he was at the shop If I wanted to go buy so he could check it. I Went over and he checked it was just the residue from the oil change. I don’t know of any shops that would have done that on a rainy Friday night. Goes to show what kind of person Steve and his shop is.

Ive only been in Haverhill for one year and needed to find a mechanic for my old car that gets me from point A to point B. I was recommended here by a family member in the area and this is where Ive been getting my repairs and services throughout my stay.At first I wasnt so thrilled about the $35 oil change but after a couple times I found out they regularly mail/email $10 off coupons. The end result of $25 is extremely worth it compared to other competitors. Not only do they treat you with the respect you deserve but they are very informative and give you an overall inspection of the car too (all in the price). All that together outweighs the $15 cheap oil change at other locations that just get you in and out and onto the next customer.I also cant wait to try out their loaner service where they loan you a car (free) while your car is in the shop getting repaired for long periods of time.Give Rays a try and if you have a complaint let them hear it because this is the type of business that wants to make the customer satisfied.-Kev

I moved to haverhill and my auto guy is kinda far away,. Called rays for all 4 brake pads and routers,. They stated over $950.00. My guy did the job for 450.00. And did it well. Also if you have a part you need installed they will not install it. They want the mark up on parts.
