My stylist, Lizze, is so courteous and thoughtful. Every time I go in, she does an amazing job on my hair. Ive been having her cut and color my hair for the past 5 years. I wont let anyone else cut and style my hair. Im a customer for life! The store itself always has a great positive atmosphere as well. All the stylists are very friendly and helpful.

I went in not knowing exactly what I wanted. I showed Lizzie a picture of what I liked. I walked out looking the best I have ever in years. She took 10 years off.. My hair has different dimension of color. The haircut is absolutely beautiful. The color suits me and enhances my features. She explained everything she was doing. She was fast as well. I recommend her to anyone that needs a good consult and a change. She is an expert.

I have been an on and off client at Fantastic Sams locations for the past 15 years or so and my last visit, to the Hastings location, was hands down the best Ive had.First off, the reservation system that has been put into place was wonderful. It was easy to sign up online, see who was available and what services were offered. The only thing I would have liked to see were price ranges for services online. I may have booked in at the time for more but without actually asking my stylist what a price range would be I had no idea and could not find any information out online for specific locations and definitely wish at least a range was a feature. I understand people like to walk in for a spontaneous haircut and this system may put them out a bit but the fact that I could book in with a stylist that I wanted and a time slot that fit my schedule was extremely helpful and have been waiting for this sort of set up for years from this company. Not everybody has an hour at times to wait to get in for a haircut let alone see a stylist they would like to see again. Not to mention I have worked in this type of service industry and not only do I feel it benefits the client but it also must be very nice for the stylists to know what to expect from their day for the most part at least. I really hope locations keep this type of set up going forward.Secondly I can not say enough good things about Emilie. I booked in with her after reading a few other happy client reviews and she was the best stylist Ive ever had at any location of Fantastic Sams in 15 years, which is insane. Not only was she friendly and professional but she was enjoyable. She acted like a real human and took her time to ask me questions. Although I left most decisions on my cut in her hands she went out of her way to make sure I was happy with lengths, weight, ect. Not only that but she actually explained to me what she was doing and what she was planning which I found most helpful. She thinned my thick, curly hair out in a different way than Ive experienced so it didnt add to the frizziness and explained to me how she was styling it so I could actually learn how to do it once I got home. It was extremely helpful and honestly it was inspiring. I went home and tried something new and could not be happier with the cut I received.I have had some on and off experiences at Fantastic Sams in the past, particularly this location where the service was just too fast and the stylists didnt seem like they cared. It was just an in the door / out the door kind of feeling. As well as the fact that many stylists Ive had over the years at a few locations around the area dont ever explain anything and how to deal with your new cut or whatever you get done. I really feel this is an important step that is often missed when in reality most people dont know what they are doing and having the stylist explain how to handle a product, a style, a cut, a color would be most helpful.I was referred a couple of products and after coming home and trying a few new things out I would like to ask my stylist about product recommendations and dont really want to be a bother by coming in and interrupting another clients appointment. I wish there was a way to get their recommendations for products for sale without having to randomly come in and be a bother. It would be nice if there was some sort of system or email service and within a certain time frame be able to contact the stylist you had about specifics. I am not too interested in coming back in and buying something from another stylist if there is some sort of commission they make off of sales for themselves.All in all I really enjoyed the reservation system and my experience with Emilie, definitely someone that the owner/manager should keep on the team. This location seems to be in a better situation than it has been in my past experiences with them. Id give my visit two thumbs way up and would recommend it for those that choose to read this. : )

Lucky enough to get same stylist each time. Generally go for waxing. Reasonably priced.

Yesterday I went in for a haircut and I was serviced very quickly. My stylists name was Allie and I highly recommend her! From the moment I was greeted to the moment I left the experience was absolutely wonderful! I showed her a picture of what I wanted just below my shoulders and my hair was very long at this point and it was time to just chop it off. She asked questions and made sure that it was the style I wanted and I am so happy the way it turned out. Thank you so much Allie!! I will definitely be back!😃

First few times were great, most recent haircut took about 3 minutes and missed a good size patch of hair above my ear that I had to fix at home and plus got a few clumps of hair down the back of my shirt. Will go again but sticking with known good stylists if available and leaving if not around.

Emilie is a great hair dresser and the only one I trust with my hair. She is really knowledgeable and very accepting of the fact that I have an alternative cut.

I am absolutely ecstatic! I have a 4 yr old with quadriplegic hypotonic cerebral palsy, and oh boy did he need a hair cut!! He hates his hair cut!! So when we got here Kristy said she would give it a shot. He wont hold his head still and due to sensory issues he dosent like his head messed with. This is the 1st hair cut my son has had that he didnt cry the whole time! Its also the 1st hair cut that didnt leave at least 1 of his ears bleeding. Thank you so much Kristy we will definitely be back!!♡

I was enjoying the experience; I had been happy with the overall service - politeness, quality, attention to detail. They took a little more time to get to know what you wanted or expected. The jury is out now; Im not sure what I may do in the future. I called to set up an appointment. When I arrived at my specific time, I walked out disappointed as someone else was called up before me having the very same appointment time. If that was the case when I first called, I should have been informed that the specific time was already booked. Maybe they handle appointments differently... ??

2 employees, 40 min wait. We were willing to wait but, after 2 hours 10 mins and one hair cut done both girls took a break. I felt my patients tested. we paid for the one and left. Very slow!

Under new management is a plus. They have a great team and seems they are more relaxed and carry on conversations with there clients with a smile. Ive always had good luck in this salon. Keep up the great work !!!! Will be back!

Chandra did a great job! Beautiful color, very dimensional, exactly what I asked for! She’s efficient and I really appreciate not sitting for hours getting my hair done.

There is one stylist that I will only got to, her name is Felicia. She listens and works hard at making the customer feel comfortable and does an excellent job at hair.

Chandra is the best stylist, I come here specifically for her to cut my hair and trim my beard.

Wish I could give no stars. I called them to see if they could fit in two perms. They said they could. So when me and my grandmother finally get there they told me they dont recommend a perm for me because I have an ombre. I explained to her that it was a year old, and I would take the risk. The blonde lady with tattoos and short hair got rude and then exclaimed that a perm ruined her hair and if she did it to mine, it would all fall out. I felt uncomfortable so me and my grandma proceeded to walk out. We went to great clips and they couldnt get it scheduled that day so I ended up taking us back to fantastic Sams. On my way there is called and told them I was on my way back, and that great clips told me my perm was doable. She hung up, so I called back and i told her I was willing to make the risk on my hair. She refused and I explained to her that I felt she was rude to me and just too lazy. It felt to me that she just didnt want to do it. So she threatened to call the cops for me calling the second time. This place wont get my business again. As this is the second time I have been treated poorly. The first time I came, I waited 15 min and no one said anything or greeted me. Will never take my business here again. I went to fantastic Sams in Apple Valley, and my hair did not fall out. Your nuts Lady.

To slow of service. Their employees should be fired for moving so slow second time I went there and told a hour wait I waited for over a hour and half so left and went to great clips for faster service. If I ever go back I will go to cottage grove mn for my haircut. All I can say is if you have time to waste then go to the hastings fantastic Sams.

Was able to walk in and get a quick haircut on my lunchbreak from work. The stylist was fast and friendly. I even had time to grab some chinese food next door.

I have been going here for years but wont be back. The lady who did my hair seemed to think she was in some kind of race. She didnt follow the instructions from the system at all. She didnt consult with me about her changes either. Which meant she had to do a bowl lift just to get anywhere close to what I wanted. It still wasnt great but I had no choice so paid my bill and left. My husband unfortunately went in a couple hours later and got her too. Again he said his head was jerked around like she was trying to complete his haircut in record time. Guess its about speed not comfort and happiness of the client anymore.

It is hit and miss when you get someone who cuts your hair well. I am going to an actual salon

I had the worst experience ever here with hair color. I left in tears. Not only did I have to ask to get my highlights brighter but the next person to fix them made me look like a freak. She bleached a huge strip down the center of my head and the left side. There was no way to style it to make it look good at all. I was devastated. I was given all my money back while the manager apologized more than once. I had to have a color correction done at Regis in West St Paul and it was more than half the price. The $$ they charge is not ok.These stylists do not know what they are doing. Dont go there!
