I know several people that live at Clemens. I sometimes tried to help them with issue they have. We never are able to resolve. This is a horrible place to live. The new office management staff is not smart and not professional to the people that pay for their employment. Other office staff is very friendly and nice but not ever helpful. Things may be good to get you in but you wont be happy once you there. All the issue with bugs, mice and plus maintenance will not be fix and it will take your peace. You will be miserable and uncomfortable in your own home. Old management much more better for everyone.

It was so annoying and this happens again and again. I hate they changed mailing receiving way. Because there are a lot of dishonest neighbor who will steal your package at front door. It happens to me every single month. I missed that the office helps to receive the package days. But they dont do that anymore. Its not about covid 19. Because they didnt receive any package for rent for a while. What I can say. I am sure I will not extend the lease.

I’ve been living in Clemens Place for two years and I wanna say it is just perfect! I don’t understand why there are so many bad reviews here... it’s so weird. The management is great and my agent Zenaida is really nice to me. In side the neighborhood is clean, quiet and safe, and it’s very convenient. Surrounded by several good bars and restaurants, free shuttle to Uhart, and very close to highways. It’s definitely the best apartment u can find with the price around $800-$1200 in the area.

The gym here is a joke. Tenants dont have enough respect for their facilities to put weights away. Management doesnt provide sanitary wipes to wipe down equipment. Another problem is the dumpsters are always open. Tenants leave them open every time resulting in foul smells when passing to get to my car. My apartment however was fairly decent. No rodents or infestations BUT the pilots to the stove were not lit so there was gas in the entire apartment. I was not aware of this for quite a while and it was only fixed when I complained to management. No apology was made. Management is nice but the tenants who live here really destroy the place. But regardless of that, this part of Hartford isnt that safe.

My best friend has lived at Clemens Place for a year now and since I spend quite a bit of time there I feel I can give a fair assessment. Rent is comparable for the area. Plenty of parking, with cameras and security. Plenty of laundry facilities. Nice on site gym. The grounds are maintained well and maintenance has always responded promptly to any concerns. These are not new apartments but they have been maintained and upgraded.

I lived in one of the apartments across the street from the main office. I suppose a positive I could mention about this place is that it gave me a roof over my head for a year, offered some kind of laundry facilities, and a place to park my car.As for the conditions-- thats where I cant award another star. After the first rain since I moved in, I had leaky windows and ceiling. I submitted a complaint to management to get these fixed, and nothing was done. I just set towels and moved my furniture. Months passed, mold growing in my apartment was getting bad. After several complaints someone came up to look, and then nothing was done. I had a rat problem as well, and if anyone in the building at all turns on their faucet while you were showering, youd lose all hope of a warm shower. Additionally, I cleaned the apartment as asked of me, and they still charged me $95 for shampooing my carpet (when I had already submitted proof of doing it myself as asked for). They will take as much as they can and not do anything for their residents, and the apartment is so expensive. Keep in mind, you are paying only for how beautiful the neighborhood looks. The redeeming quality would be the Resident Services front desk, Ivy. She was fabulous and supportive as much as she could with all the issues. Kudos to her, give her a raise.

I also would rate this place a zero. I went with a friend who was apartment shopping and we were coming in from NY. So not worth our time. The office was dirty and smelled bad from when we first walked in. We weren’t even greeted properly. After finally being acknowledged and given something to fill out, we were able to ask the questions we read on the reviews. The agent was just like we can’t do anything about reviews people are entitled to their opinions. The thing is lady -these aren’t just opinions the information provided on here are actual facts and thats why you had nothing to say but lie through your fake smile. The worst part was the tour walking with her to the apartment. We went to walk up on the third floor that was supposedly “renovated” yet the carpet looked old and the microwave and stove were worn. The bedrooms were the size of a closet and we are from NY so we are used to small but it was really tiny. It was all and all a bad experience from start to finish. The fitness center even smelled awful. The thought of living there was unbearable.Ending with- anything and everything is better than this place so be warned and go elsewhere.

We met with leasing agent who gave us good information. We looked at three places here and finally made a choice for a one bedroom. We actually love it here. I do understand that there is new management and that is key. Already, being here one week, we have had a new screen put in, a window repaired, disposal tweaked. The maintenance person was very nice (Charley). Have met neighbors who are lovely. We are enjoying the view from third floor, and having fun checking out local establishments. Now we will have to review in 6 months as we just got here. Will See. Right now these folks are very professional!

My Girlfriend and I looked at Clemens Place and our agent Yukari was helpful as well as she answered all of our questions almost immediately. When we decided Clemens Place wasn’t for us after reading a lot of consistent bad reviews we decided to take our application off and not get the apartment. When I tried contacting Yukari on refunding, other ladies who worked for Clemens would answer and they were hostile, gave me attitude and seemed not to care. All they said was Yukari is busy or she’s not in. I left countless voicemails and never got any call backs. Once I finally reached her she seemed pretty aggressive on the phone. We didn’t get our hold back, but how these agents carry themselves is disgusting and I don’t think anyone in their right mind should be getting an apartment with them unless your desperate for a place to live.

I have been living here for a little over a year, and have few complaints. I have had wonderful interactions with the Resident Services woman, Ivy who SAVED ME when I was having an emergency with a mouse in my apartment. She was on top of it she was responsive, and most of all she was kind. She takes pride in her job and really does care for the people that live here. Yes I did have a mouse sighting, and after a non-responsive (and cruddy) exterminator, the maintenance staff here came into my apartment, and checked every heater in ever room for mouse holes They checked the cabinets I left open for them to look at, and called me to make sure I was happy. At first I was livid that I had found a mouse, but the more I spoke around the more I realized THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR APARTMENTS IN EVERY CITY, so I took my precautions and even changed how I kept my apartment to be extra careful.Just today I had a broken window, and called Ivy again. Within two hours a very friendly maintenance gentleman was here and fixed it in minutes. Is this place perfect? No. Is this place a little unique community in Hartfords west end, YES.

Clemens Place Apartments, this place is a horrible place to live. First off the neighborhood is sketchy. Broke into my friends car several times. Secondly, the apartments are gross and infested with bed bugs, mice, or roaches. Make sure to check everything (cabinets, under baseboards)if you are crazy enough to check it out. Oh and lastly, make sure to ask the leasing agent to have any surrounding apartment to flush their toilet or even turn their shower on...lol you’ll be sure to hear that or how the water temperature is off. The walls and plumbing in these older building are just horrible. Either check out West Hartford or any other place away from this urban neighborhood. Yes, there are a couple of good reviews but they must have offered free food to their desperate tenants for writing good reviews. Find a place that has exceller reviews and a couple of bad ones not the opposite.

They dont assess the vermin problem of rats that have been running through the walls since Oct 2015 when first reported. My neighbor has had to change her furniture 2 times and remove her daughter due to fear of her daughter being bitten. I addressed the front office and the office staff stated to me oh its not that bad. Its apartment life Ive lived here 4 mos and this has been the most miserable experience Ive ever had in a living situation. Management ignores their tenants, and charge insane amounts for nothing. I asked them to fix it many times and they never did. When I told them Im moving out because of the leaking, they send their workers to fix it and they damaged the floor and the wall paint. I didnt like their service and the management was too mean and racist (especially the manger she was so racist) so I moved out. After I moved out they charged me $2500 for a dirty floor. That floor was damaged by their workers and I paid for it. $2500 for a carpet that may cost them $300. Not safe for living, the balcony is an easy way to enter the apartment. Sometime I get back from work and find the balcony door open which means someone was there. I had mice for one complete year, and they damaged my furniture and eat my clothes.

If I could rate 0 I would.I feel bad for anyone that lets this company take advantage of you...MY NEXT CALL IS, THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT!I went in to view this property recently....I DO NOT RENT, but i have friends that have that warned me against it.Let me start off by staying they do not have just one property they have close to 45 buildings that they rent out. After reading all the horrible reviews of mice, cockroaches and bad maintenance staff along with awful smells ETC.I figured well, we will go in and look around and give them the benefit of the doubt considering NO ONE VERY WRITES GOOD REVIEWS-Later stated by their sales person showing us the rooms. So here is my experience, and I hope it saves you time and a head ache.I want to start by saying, every review you read is 100% true..We walked into the main building to sit down, Automatically I smelt a heavy odor that I couldnt point out until later in my visit. The main office wasnt gorgeous but it wasnt awful. It had new appliances and updated wood, along with nice decorating. WELL OF COURSE IT DID! It was the apartment they use in all the pictures to lure in poor suckers (like me) that need affordable living. Then we were greeted by the sales rep? I say it like this because she was obviously extremely knowledgeable about all the health and safety concerns she was about to try and sell us. ( Id like to see her live in one of those apartments) but anyways. So, after sitting with her for a few minutes and talking about the difference in price between updated apartments and not updated apartments. I finally asked the dreaded question so How true is all the mice problems, cockroaches and etc. She started her small rant with, well I legally cant lie to you, like every old building we have our issues. Im sure you read about the slow maintenance staff, the cockroaches, the mice, the bedbugs. I stopped her right there WAIT BED BUGS, THIS IS NOT SOMETHING I AM INTERESTED IN THAT IS NASTY. She went on to assure me that though these are problems ANYWHERE I live is going to have the same issues.... which is not true. And said they work hard to CONTROL the issue, please take notice that she did not say ELIMINATE, she said control... and the way she said it showed.. they really care less.Fast forward, we went to look at the actual rooms and I kid you not I almost passed out they were so disgusting. I could still smell the awful aroma I talked about earlier but figured maybe some candles could help that. The rooms were so small you wouldnt be able to fit a queen bed in them let alone a bed and a desk. All the appliances needed to be updated, I say this because the appliances WERE OLDER THAN ME. They suck so much unnecessary electricity that your electric bill will be triple what it should be just because your renting from a cheap company that doesnt care, they are also a huge fire hazard. The smell that I mentioned earlier made sense the second I opened up the kitchen cabinet doors to see a huge pile of Rat poop. MIND YOU NOT MICE...RAT! And a sticky trap with huge rat half alive... I am going to assume he was not the only Rat considering it looked like one had chewed his leg off to escape leaving only the foot on the pad. That smell I first smelt was rat poison... I would like to remind you that this is one of the propertys they had cleaned and prepared to show people to move into ASAP... I cant even imagine what it looked like before. I also forgot to mention that I am highly allergic to cockroaches and though none were seen, I left the property with huge rashes all over my hands from touching things... Only assuming that its because at some point cockroaches were very much around and no one cleaned since.Plus, for the money they are asking for you can rent a two bedroom-three bedroom in New Britain or Downtown Hartford renovated.

I checked with management the next day only to find that no such workers were working on the building and none should have been on my balcony. This whole complex has a SEVERE cockroach problem as do most places in Hartford. I have spoken to other people who live or have lived in Hartford and they have all said that cockroaches are a major problem with anyone living in that city. It is just the way of life there. I was mugged 4 times while in Hartford. Twice, I was held up for my car in separate car jackings. In all of the attempts, luckily, I was able to get away unharmed except one time when my throat was cut but, it was a minor cut and, I was able to break free and leave.Save your sanity and your money and find a better, cleaner, safer, and less expensive place outside of the Hartford area in which to live.

Machines don’t work and your clothes smell worse then when they went it. If you are a student at UHART find another place to rent, or I promise you you’ll regret the next year of your life. The leasing staff including management is extremely disrespectful. While attending the school I rented a 1-bedroom apartment at 29 Denison St. The facilities are nice, the shuttle to campus was convenient, and the Maintenance and Security staffs were very helpful and professional. However, I cannot say the same for the Administration. They didnt listen to my concerns as a resident, but maybe theyll listen to this review.Clemens Place advertises a quiet hours policy that they do not enforce. My downstairs neighbor kept me awake at any and all hours of the day and night with a stereo system blasting movies. I complained to as many representatives from management as I could for almost two years and was assured that enough reports from Security would lead to eviction, however, only a few notifications were sent to this tenant. The resident lived in a subsidized apartment and my guess is that Clemens Place did not want to lose this easy money. I realize they are a business, but its these empty promises that are my biggest disappointment.I made two mistakes: moving to Clemens Place and staying for a second year. Dont be like me. I give Clemens a 5-star rating primarily due to what I feel is unfair low ratings from other residents.I lived here for one year from 2016-2017 and it was everything I expected. Is this the luxury apartments that you will find other places in the area? No. But I personally never had any of the horror stories that others seem to mention, and the price is more than reasonable compared to other places in the region (I paid $1235 for a small two-bedroom apartment on a flexible lease term - which are actually fairly generous and they dont make you maintain responsibility until the next tenant comes in like most other places do around here). In general, the apartment unit was adequate. I compare this to a mid-year Honda Civic, so hold your expectations to that. Also keep in mind that Clemens Place is actually like the whole neighborhood here, so reviews might vary based on location here. I was located in the main building on Owen Street, but it was my perception that many of these issues that are in these reviews refer to their buildings north of Farmington Ave (esp. parking concerns), and west of Sission (esp. safety concerns).A few things:- In my experience Management here was actually some of the best that I have ever worked with. Ive been in nicer (more expensive) units where management has been horrible. These folks were responsive for any questions or maintenance issues.- Deposit - Without ANY issues I got my full deposit back despite some minor wear-and-tear damage that I felt that management was going to deduct me on based on previous comments. Work with management to see what you need to do (for example, shampoo your carpet), ask for a pre-inspection and you will be fine. They made it as simple as possible. Not sure what others did to warrant their deposit out, but in my experience, management is reasonable.- The neighborhood - Unlike others here, I actually really liked the neighborhood, but understand it for what it is before you move in. Hartford is a diverse city and is a bit rough around the edges. That being said, I never had any of the concerns about safety in the immediate area that others did. Anyplace west and north of Clemens is really nice, further east or south not as much so. But I came to appreciate this diversity in events at the Mark Twain House, the weekly West End Farmers Market, or visits to Tisanes, Half Door, Metro Cafe, or Mos Midtown. Weekly concerts in the nearby Elizabeth Park are nice, and the UConn Law School campus close by is beautiful and the library is open to the public. For the runners, there are plenty of nice routes north of Farmington Ave. towards Elizabeth Park and even up Scarbourogh St. Also really like the landscaping of Owen Street in itself.Security - Clemens hires full time security to patrol the lots. They are friendly and helpful. They are located in the 16 Owen St. building so those units might be safer. I never had any concerns about the safety of my vehicle, but I also never left anything of value in sight. Just take precautions.Parking - Paid $25 / month for a second car, and you can have as many spaces as you need. There are plenty of spot and they have a visitor pass system for free. $25 is reasonable. Snow removal? Never had a problem with it and dont blame Clemens for needing the cars to get moved. They only ask cars to get moved after large snow events when they need to really clean up.The Gym - No its not glamours, but it is totally functional and has a lot more items than many in-apartment gyms. Has a few squat racks and barbells, something that many newer apartments dont have. Never felt like I needed an external gym membership when I lived here. The unit- Clean, never once an issue with an insect or rodent, and never saw as much as a spider during my time here. I suspect that many of the issues are caused by residents or neighbors leaving out food or not cleaning adequately. I had an non-updated unit, which meant my appliances were circa 1980, but everything worked fine and maintenance was responsive if I ever had an issue.

Within the first month of residence saw two elderly men fist fighting on the street corner outside of the complex on Farmington Ave. Within 3 months of living here someone had been shot within a block radiusThis complex wasnt gross and I never had damage or anything to my car, but it seemed like everything was a hassle (carrying laundry down three flights of stairs and across the street in the winter, same with groceries, trying to get the buzzer for the door or the dishwasher fixed, or the peeling paint in the bathroom repainted, getting parking passes and having to stand outside to wait for security in the winter, trying to get anyone on the phone from the office who can answer your questions) My biggest issue is the way the office staff treats and speaks to the residents. Their tone is extremely rude, nobody seems to have any answers for questions and they dont even attempt to direct you to someone who can help. I personally felt like each time something was wrong or I had a simple question I was met with a condescending tone and was made to feel as if I had done something wrong. I am a grown adult. Im (over)paying you to live here. Can I just get some assistance?! I no longer reside here and I do not recommend it to others.

Not all of Hartford have pest infestation. But this place does. Everyone in 18 denison have German cockroaches... Not because everyone is nasty but because Clemens place never want to fix or do anything about it. Then they threaten ppl to pay them. They also blame the ppl of being nasty. The whole building have mold and water leakage. Playground is trash.the Building elevator, on sisson near corner store still not fix since early 2000s. Windows are old and broken since 90s.

Orkin released a list of 50 of the worst cities for bed bugs infestation. Hartford, CT was 43 on that list and Clemens Place Apartments would probably fall under number one in the city with its bed bug infestation. STAY CLEAR or youll be bit!!! :|

I moved into Clemens Place in 2012. Admittedly, I picked the place because it was one of the few places that showed up online in Hartford, I was tired of trying to find an apartment in Hartford and I was delirious from having just taken the bar exam.I just renewed my lease for the third time. The neighborhood is pretty good. The West End is probably the best neighborhood in Hartford and the safest after Downtown. Bars, a small grocery store, pharmacy, good restaurants, fast food and my bank are within walking distance. U Conn Law School and Elizabeth Park are also nearby. I work downtown and regularly hop on the bus which stops right on Farmington Avenue and is pretty reliable (for a bus). The rent is reasonable considering heat and hot water, off street parking and a fitness center are included. The fitness center is one of the best Ive seen as far as options (it isnt new and shiny, but its functional). Multiple cardio machines, a full set of dumbbells and two racks with barbells (squat rack, multiple benches, etc.). Not a whole lot of weight machines if you prefer those, but I dont use them. I have seen some strange things going on in the parking lot (twice Ive seen a car with a missing front wheel), but am honestly unsure of what the story is with that.I have called the super a few times and have always gotten a prompt response -- even when I was causing the problem (e.g., I didnt realize that I needed to turn on a switch to work the dishwashing machine).I havent seen any rodents. Maybe they come out after my bedtime? Ha!I have recommended the place. Generally, it meets my needs and Id say its a good value for someone who wants one stop shopping.

I cant even begin to describe how terrible this place is. Your car WILL be vandalized in their parking lots, make sure youvadd that to your monthly rent. Anything you wish not to get stolen should never stay in the car. The apartments arent nearly as nice as the pictures show. Iv had over 1200 in damages and stolen property in the last 8 months, half the damages coming from their own tenants they allow theur kids to ride bikes and play baseball in the lot. The property owner couldnt care less about you or any problems you have. The office people are generally nice but moat are mean. They even lost all of my rental paperwork and i had to go back in twice! I would wish this place on my worst enemy and i hope someone finds a way to show them what they are doing is not ok. I invite you to contact me persoanlly and i will tell you everything they have done and wronged me doing. This place is aweful. DONT SIGN ... RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN

I signed a one year lease after I was lied too by one of the leading agents that told me this was a clean place, a week after I moved I saw rats around the building and a mouse inside my house, worst mistake I ever made was to sign that lease, when i went to complaint to the leasing office they just gave me a sticky mouse trap of the many they have because they know this place is infested, they have sent the exterminator twice and make me turn my apartment upside down to just waist my time because the rats are not leaving, if you lease an apartment here prepare yourself to pay rent for you and the little rodents, not worthy, the rent is expensive and the place is disgusting, and all those pictures of the space to play tennis and the gym were when they were new in reality the look old and the gym stink.
