After having such a terrible experience of trying to rent a U-Haul truck off of the website I finally was able to get a U-Haul truck in York Pennsylvania. Then the one-way trip provided a free month of storage so I was able to drop the truck off at the 29th St., Harrisburg location. They also rented me my storage unit. The gentleman at this location and the manager especially, were some of the most awesome people I have met in a long time! They knew that I was frustrated, and they try to make things run a lot smoother for me! Out of courtesy they extended my truck rental, making it a lot easier for me! I had forgotten to add gas to the truck and the manager was so kind and just told me to catch them on the next round because I do use trucks there a lot. The gentleman made my day a lot less stressful and I really appreciated the customer service I received. Sometimes a little kindness goes a long way when you’re in a stressful situation. Thanks guys that meant a lot to me today and you better believe that you have become my usual U-Haul place!
First of all, the employees were amazing and did their best to help and none of this was their fault and all of them deserve 5 stars. This is specifically for Uhaul as a company.The trailer was dropped off very dirty and they had to mop it out before I could put anything else in it. The chains on the hitch were rusted and they had to replace both of them because one of them was almost completely rusted through, but luckily they inspected it and caught the issue. But the biggest issue, besides wasting 5 hours at the store while trying to move to another state the next day, was wasting 5 hours trying to figure out why it cost $80 renting a trailer from Fayetteville to Harrisburg but $738 going from Harrisburg to NC. That is the DEFINITION of price gouging. Now I’m in Fayetteville with my service dog with no money for a hotel and living out of my car. But at least after 5 hours, I did get a $50 military discount. I waited for 3 hours on Sunday for my trailer, then had to come back the next day to actually get it and reschedule in accordance. Not only did they not give me a trailer, they didn’t even give me a pittance in compensation, or discount for the next day. Also, I showed up within 5 minutes of closing to return my trailer, expecting someone to help me before they were done for the day. This was not the case, and so I had to figure out their dumb return policy. Do not go here, you can make friends with someone who has a trailer in less time than it’ll take to get a uhaul
Justin Garner, area field manager (maintenance). Went above and beyond for a last minute move out of state. Explained what I needed to get done for my trailer lights to work, willingly put a new set of tires on the u-haul I was renting and installed a license plate light for free! He truly made this move more easy going and less stressful 😊

Reserved a 10x10x6 storage unit via the U-Haul website that was on the first floor. When I showed up from out-of-state two weeks later, the unit was no longer available. They offered to put me in two smaller 5x10 units, equaling the same square footage, but one unit was up a set of stairs (no elevators). I was told they could merge the two individual rates to equal what I was expecting to pay each month with my original reservation. I moved into the two storage units, and was told to expect a call to come back in and sign the paperwork once the leases were consolidated.The call didnt happen, so I went back in-person 5 days later. Since the two units were not exactly the same size (small height difference), they said they couldnt merge the leases to offer me the same monthly payment I was expecting with my initial reservation. I would either have to pay full price for each of the two units, or move my belongings from one unit to another, so I had two units that were the exact same size.I was expected to spend my time and energy to make up for U-Hauls mistakes. Do not trust the reservations you make through U-Haul, and do not believe anything you are told by the employees at this location. Either through lack of training or outright deception, they will give you alternative facts and not stand up to their word. The manager is a nice enough guy, but he is not empowered by corporate to take appropriate action in these scenarios. He did issue a small gift certificate, to offset the higher rental costs for a couple months.There are cheaper storage facilities in town...take your business elsewhere. U-Haul doesnt honor their reservations, and in my experience, the regular employees at this location are generally clueless and give poor customer service. Ive never experienced a situation where the customer is expected to bear the burden of a companys negligence and poor operation.Shame on you, U-Haul.update: They moved me into a 10x15x6. Cheaper than the two 5x10s, but still more expensive than the 10x10x6 I originally reserved. Took me an afternoon to move everything into the larger, single unit. So...wasted my time and still paying more because U-Haul’s reservation system doesn’t work.Also, when I moved back in December, I’d made a reservation to pick up truck/trailer at a location 10 minutes from where I lived. Wound up having to drive 30 miles and 45 minutes away for the equipment pick-up. U-Haul’s customer service is practically non-existent.
Worst business in Harrisburg. Terribly managed. Hire people to work on your busiest days of the week. The manager is very kind and works super fast to do the work of 2 people at once. But this place is the worst. Multiple times a month I buy boxes and have to wait consistently 30-45 minutes in line. What a joke!

I rent a unit to keep my belongings safe, but mice destroy most of the stuff. Lost more than 400$, insurance only pay me 164$ totally disappointed.

After making a reservation 9 days in advance, the trailer which I had paid for was not available. They called the night before the move to inform me of the change and asking me to drive to Maryland to pick up a trailer-- unprofessional and unacceptable. What is the value of a reservation??
I moved from Lancaster to Oklahoma City a month ago. Following the direction on the U-Haul site, I ordered an extra pod because I wasnt sure how many I would need to fit all my stuff. The first problem came with the driver they sent to deliver the pods. He didnt know how to drive a trailer and could not get the pods in my drive where I needed them. After many attempts and stopped traffic, a professional truck driver, who happened to be among those stopped, got out and moved the trailer into my drive. Had he not stopped, I dont think I would have been able to get the pods. The second problem came the day after I had completely unpacked my pod and gotten a zero balance receipt when I received a call from U-Haul in Oakland, CA, accusing me of late payment on my moving expenses. Fortunately, the woman who called seems to have resolved that issue - I have not heard from them again about that at least. Today, however, I continued to battle the 3rd issue which is that they have still not refunded me for the extra pod I returned. This can only be done by the local U-Haul which made the charge - the Central PA U-Haul - but in spite of an initial conversation and promise, along with at least 5 subsequent calls and messages left with the manager (who has never returned my calls), I am still fighting this battle with them. What they promise to be an easy process has been anything but, which is too bad. While this particular office seems to have a lot of problems, my overall experience with using the pods was a positive one. And, my experience with the national U-Haul customer service has also been positive. Its just this one location that seems to be very worth avoiding.
I dropped a trailer off here this morning and had the best experience Ive ever had returning any rental equipment. I wish I got her name to mention her specifically, but the very friendly general manager was so quick, friendly, and efficient. A+++ Would recommend.
Great place to rent a unit or a truck. I drive from Lemoyne to this facility just because of the outstanding service. Supplies are always readily available in the store. Will always use this location for my storage & rental needs. Sarah, the manager, is exceptional.
My husband and I were nervous about our move and driving U-Hauls biggest truck. But when Sarah helped us get set up, all of our fears disappeared. She was bubbly, friendly, and very helpful. Highly recommend this U-Haul location.

The staff maybe friendly youre first encounter but they are un organizedBad customer service skills for example I called ahead of time to double check to make sure my card was on file so that my storage would be paid on the due dateWell I was put on hold so the lady could finish chewing her food her coworker gave her while shes doing that shes discussing how good the food was then she finally get back on the phone to then tell me she cant find my name in the system and when she finally did she then tell me my card isnt on file but after 5 more minutes of looking she finds out that my card is on file which brings me to today 3/1 bill is due I noticed the money didnt come out of my account so I called and Ive been on hold for 20 minutes and not the hold were you hear the nice music in the backgroundNo Im on hold hearing everything that is going on in the store these damn people sat the phone on the counter smdh unprofessional I actually wanted to see how long it would take them to get back to me needless to say I hung up after 20 minutes but 9 times out of 10 had I not hung up Im sure it would have been longer
Excellent service! I dropped off a trailer here that I had picked up in Colorado, and the woman working here was 100 times better than the guys in CO. She was friendly and I could tell that she was genuinely interested in a good customer experience. It also helped that she knew what she was talking about, unlike the guys in CO.
Been waiting in line for almost an hour now...staff seems to not even understand their job or the information needed to rent a truck. Manager has stared meanly at multiple customers for complaining even though they have one person behind the counter on a weekend at 10am..... definitely will be going to another rental place from now on
A great assortment of supplies, friendly service, and a convenient city location. This location is one of only two in our area that is owned by U-haul and not a U-haul dealership. They will have what you need.
Not a bad place to go if you are moving or if you need to use a truck to haul something. Fair price. They also have boxes you can buy to help you move.
Customer Service is not important to the Uhaul Co. If you have a problem you are not permitted to call the location and talk to the manager. If you call, You will get redirected to some central customer service call center and they will try to text the locations manager.My problem was with the 29th st location Harrisburg.On June 2 I ordered and paid for a hitch that was to be installed on Sunday June 9 . When I arrived on June 9th for my install, I was told that my hitch had not been delivered. Not sure why they did not call me the day before and save me the trip.I was told they would try to rush order the hitch and reschule for the upcoming week. That was great.So I tried to call on Monday, the next day, to find out when I could reschedule. But the phone number listed under the managers name does not get answered by the local uhaul location. You get redirected to and can ONLY talk with some Customer Service person most likely in another state. Uhaul Co. does allow the customer service person to transfer your call to that store manager. She was only able to send a text for the manager of 29th st and ask her to call me back.A text was sent, no call back!.Tuesday I called again asking to to speak to the manager at the29th st location to find out the status of my hitch, (that I had already paid for).I was told again by the customer service person we can only IM that manager. So she sent the manager an IM. Was told She should call you back later that day., Tuesday no call back either.. Not surprised.Tuesday nite, by this time I was very annoyed with the whole process. Talked again to the customer service person.This time I cancelled my order. Gave them my credit card number to credit my account.It is now, Friday and no credit on my account.There is still a $385 charge to my credit card.Now I need to make one more call to try to fix something that could have been resolved if only I was allowed to talk with the manager. Or better if they would have checked to make sure that all the parts were available for my install.People will soon forget good customer service, no one forgets bad customer service.
Today I tried to reserve a Pickup Truck for the day and I had to wait in line for several minutes because they only had two employees working, of course. At soon as I get attended I was told that EVERYTHING was reserved and I had no chance of getting anything rented for the day. I told the lady behind the desk that it’s frustrating to have waited that whole time for nothing and that they need more employees working there. She then responded, with the worst attitude, “WELL THEN, NEXT TIME YOU SHOULD HAVE A RESERVATION ALREADY SET”. I responded by telling her that there wouldn’t be a next time. Customer service isn’t hard to master, treat your customers right and they’ll keep coming back. Simple. After I left, I called another location and they told me that there were plenty of rentals for this location.Update: Just found out that the older women I spoke to was the main manager for the location.
Unprofessional, ignorant workers looking to steal your money without even given what we payed for. The employee Richard, gave us the wrong code 2 times and then kept lying about how much the 4x4 costs. We paid for a 4x4 unit downstairs. Not only was there a lock on it from a previous person but we had to knock on the door for the janitor to open the door so even the first code didnt work. Then he went on to give us another unit upstairs, gives us another code to go outside and see if that works call him back if not and IT STILL DOESNT WORK. Then goes on to say well if we pay 10$ more it will work b/c that unit costs more. IT IS THE SAME DAMN SIZE. How does it cost more and y did u not say that before we hung up the phone the 2nd time??? DUMBASSES AND NO HELP. WASTE OF TIME.
Super Nice staff. I ran into a problem where they didnt have my truck, but found a way to accommodate me. My movers never showed on Sunday & i was able to keep the truck an extra day. They have me names of movers and i got one to come at 230pm after they already did a job and worked into the night for me.
Worst service ever. DO NOT GO HERE. Asst mgr named Richard Swanson scammed us out of a so called 20$ 4x4 unit our code didnt even work the first time and the unit he gave us was not even available and then when we called to tell him this he then gives us another unit, same size! Gives us another code as well telling us to call back if it works. Of course IT DID NOT. Call again, he says it doesnt work bc that new unit is 10$ more than what we paid......huh???? All of a sudden this SAME 4X4 unit is 30$ instead of 19.99?? And says the code will work if we just pay the extra 10$.Whatver u get it, long story short were talking to corporate to get a refund and hopefully get this scammer richard fired. U-haul is a mainstream storage place and youre lying to people to beneift your own silly needs as if u own this place. Disgusting.
Arrived here on a sat am and there was 1 person working in the entire building with an 8-10 person line where checking out one person takes 5-10 min. Basically waited an hr to pick up the truck. Why UHAUL doesnt have a few people working on a sat am in the summer (prime moving season) baffles me. People in the line had been here the previous weekends and the line was just as bad, forcing them to walk out. This is not a one time incident but a regular occurrence here. Shame on Uhaul. NOTE: the one person working was busting her butt. She deserves a raise!

Manager sara is a liar, doesnt listen to complaint and said nothing was wrong after an ordeal they put my family through and this is going to the Company they franchise now, she sounds unfit to manage under companys name and this is how she trained her worker to mishandle a customer and lies to them and they dont take responsibility of their issues or there will be no issues and complaints but yet blame it to the customer that it is your fault what a big lie!! such a LIAR!!
We got bed bugs remting from here!!! Me and my husband never ever seen a bed bug oet alone have all of our chairs, couch, bed and everything else from the truch has bugs!!! We havent gotten a call back or anything, they over charged us because the guy cpuldnt find the paper work and now this!!! It is just 2 month that we moved and we have been fighting them ever since. We mived in to a house that was empty for years so the house we bought wasnt the issue!!! These people need to get in contact with me because i am no longer being nice

Claimed they gave me truck with 1/2 tank of gas when it was only 1/4 tank and charged me over $60 when i returned it half way between 1/4 and a half tank which was more fuel than it had when i got the truck!! Not to mention the truck was filthy, and had bug traps all thru the cab and the back. 3 weeks after moving in this truck to a BRAND NEW HOME we have a massive bed bug infestation!! DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION!!! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF AND INFEST YOUR NEW HOME!!!

Largest units are upstairs and there is no elevator. The location is pretty bad. The alarm is always going off because some people either are uninformed by the employees or they are just ignorant and do not swipe in and out
