Im a very long-time customer of Smittys, owner Josh Thompson has always provided honest, well-priced, and expert service. He has replaced transmissions and entire engines for me over the years as well as routine maintenance. And I dont live anywhere near Derry Street. I drive, limp, and tow my vehicles all the way from Virginia to get his valuable service and expertise, and hes never let me down. I highly recommend this shop, not many shops around with this level of service and reliability.

Smittys is the best auto shop in Harrisburg. We always take our vehicles to Smittys for any problems that we are having. The quality of service is better than anywhere around. There isnt anything they cant fix. I have brought all of my vehicles here for years! I’ve had basic maintenance and inspections and several repairs. Every experience has been the same, great pricing and outstanding customer service! They have never overcharged me, like many others have tried, never talked down to me about my vehicles or what may be wrong with them, like many others have done and the work has always been done in the estimated timeframe they gave me. I don’t go anywhere else!.

The service at this shop is fantastic, I have yet to experience a better mechanic. My mother has been using their services as long as I can remember, and Im fully confident that I will be as well. This team has saved my a** in situations that ANY other shop wouldnt have even returned the call. I have never encountered a situation where these guys have tried upselling me a service or repair I didnt need, and if something was optional theyd offer it as such. On the same coin, Ive always been satisfied with the quality of work done, only one time was there any major issues, and it was a manufacturer issue, not the shops fault, yet they still did an amazing job making the issue right. I recommend their service to anyone I know who I cant help with my own knowledge.These guys go above and beyond to make sure your vehicle is in good, safe condition. Overall, I’m very dissatisfied with the service from Smitty’s Radiator Services. First, the time for repair was supposed to take three to seven days; however, my motorcycle radiator was “fixed” 14 days after drop off. I called several times between day seven and 14 to check on the repair status, and they stated it took a few attempts to repair it. I was excited when they stated that it passed a pressure check. However, I was frustrated when I put everything back together on my motorcycle and the radiator leaked from the same spot where the epoxy “fix” was applied. I purchased a new motorcycle radiator because I didn’t want to go through the hassle again and wait another two weeks for another attempted fix.Lastly, I was very frustrated when I called to see if I could get a refund because it still leaked after installing and told them they could even keep the radiator if they wanted. They said they would try to fix it again, but there would be no refund.If you need a leaking radiator fixed, I highly recommend trying another radiator repair shop as Smitty’s will take an excessive amount of time and cannot guarantee it will be repaired.

Smittys was very professional and fixed a light for me as I waited. They had the correct replacement part and the price quoted me was not increased.

They listened to me and were very friendly and considerate. I called back to schedule a repair and they knew me by name.

The best and honest service ever. Replaced a cracked bolt that was leaking oil. This was at 4pm on a Friday. It was fixed by 5pm. Rare to find such integrity these days. I highly recomend this place.

I posted this original review back in 2013 after my first experience with Josh and Smitty’s, and then again 5 years later and now 2 more...we still go nowhere else. If anything, the dependability and service only gets better and better as you build a relationship with a garage that understands the needs of your family and the vehicles you use.Its not often I make recommendations like this but....in this day and age of poor customer service and rip off artists - can I just tell you about what has got to be the very best service I have received in years! My truck wouldnt start, again. The dealer I bought it from would only honor the warranty if they did the work, and it required me TOWING it there for them to even look ...at it. Since theyve had it twice, I really didnt want to pay to have it towed and have them play around with it more to soak me for even more money. I ended up calling Smittys and from the first conversation and every one since found them to be extremely courteous, honest, and willing to help. Not only that, but they exceeded my expectations by taking my vehicle right away, calling me before I thought to call them, took the time to offer me alternatives in pricing while still recommending the best approach. Completely honest and thorough. Finally - the best part - I still came away spending less than I expected, and getting my car back a day sooner than Id even hoped. My truck is running just fine now! If youre looking for what I consider now to be the best mechanic / auto service in this area - give these guys a call. Our friends recommended Smittys to us, so we took my car there for inspection. Not even 3 hours after opening, Josh called to let me know how inspection went and what was needed. He was sure to let me know whats absolutely needed to pass inspection and then he let me know what will be needed, but not required to pass. The pricing seems very fair, and even better than the chain garages. I appreciate his honesty and courtesy. We will definitely use them from now on. Thanks to Josh & his team!

One of the best shops I ever been too. Im a woman and Im not advanced when it come to the repair of a vehicle at all. Every-time i go to Smittys they do a great job getting any issue resolved. It was a long shot. My car was out of inspection and it was a Friday before a holiday. I didnt want to take my car to one of those corporate places. My wife found some reviews for this place, and called them up. They took my walk in and had it finished by the end of the day, with no bullshit, no extras.I found them very pleasant to deal with and will be bringing both our cars back here in the future. Its tough to find an honest mechanic, but I think we found one here. Will recommend!

We use Smittys for all of our routine car care and maintenance. Never once have we felt as though we have been mislead on the need for any of our repairs that have been needed on our vehicles. But more importantly, a vehicle will NEVER leave this shop unless it is completely repaired to the satisfaction of its owners. I love this about Smittys. Had about $1,000 worth of work done to my vehicle last fall and when I went to pay, the one mechanic asked for a TIP? (never heard of that in my life..) Then proceeded to tell me how he would rather be fishing....? Would NOT recommend, was not satisfied with their service. Meanwhile I was without my work van for 6 days before they could give me any answer about the status of my repairs. You can do better.

We came from the Poconos to Machanicsburg for a long weekend at Williams Grove Speedway.Friday morning at the Hotel we found our truck had a Radiator leak so I called Smitty’s Radiator Service..I talked to Josh he said bring it right over.He put a new Radiator in it and we were on our way to the Races by the afternoon. the cost was very reasonable, He didn’t take advantage of someone from out of town.. I would tell anyone to take their vehicle here..Thank You Josh
