Very small but entertaining museum. The entrance fees are very low, especially when youre a student. The majority of the artworks displayed are part of the temporary exhibit, which was interesting when I went there in March 2017. There are also some workshops for children in order to promote culture, which is a very nice initiative. No restaurant or cafeteria if I remember correctly.
April 3, 2021 I wish this event had been more widely advertised. Wine, Food, & Art Expo. The venue was well set up for social distracting and the vendors tables were quite accessible. I thoroughly enjoyed the variety of vendors! I was so caught up I forgot to to take photos....! I bought a lovely new dress from Cins Fashion Boutique and got a line on a great catering service (They make a super Hummingbird Cake!!)
A very good art museum. It has very good art collection and many artist work were displayed.Person who loves art can spend and admire for 4-5 hours in this museum.Person who likes art can spend 2-4 hours and a person who just want to pay visit will cover in 1 hour.Gave 4 star just bcoz there is lot of scope to include more art workOther than that all collections were spectacular.
What an amazing place! We are here for the 1st time on a school trip. The morning presentations were divided into to parts for the elementary children (k-2/3-5)& was at a level that was easily understood by them without treating them as if they were unintelligent. My son (7) thoroughly enjoyed the creative actitivty & said he even liked learning about the artist & seeing the other paintings. My daughter (11) attended the afternoon (6-12) presentation & said that it wasnt as boring as she thought it would be. The also did a creative actitivty which she loved and said the presentation on the pictures was very interesting & informative. With the muesum changing exhibits every 12 week there are multiple times each year you could visit & do new things. We enjoyed this trip a lot & plan to become members to enjoy it even more. Some of the perks are AWESOME.
A beautiful canopy to design weddings!
Pretty nice place.
Great!!, Receptionist was EXTREMELY HELPFUL,and CURTIOUS
A wonderful and much needed cultural outlet. A MUST, for everyone to come and see; participate in.
My husband and I visited the museum during the Picasso exhibit, and we had a wonderful time! For starters, we had no problem finding regular meter parking on the same block as the museum which made for a very pleasant beginning to our artsy adventure. The museum and exhibition itself was somewhat on the small side but not disappointing in the least. If anything, it helped to create a more intimate, laidback atmosphere. You did not feel the need to rush through the exhibit. It gave off a relaxed vibe, and allowed for you to spend time truly enjoying and discussing each piece. It was a very nice, and much welcomed change from the hustle and bustle of the larger museums and/or exhibits we have been to. We also were very happy and excited to learn that just a few blocks down from the museum was an absolutely beautiful and wonderful bookstore complete with a delicious coffee bar. From the outside, it was not much to look at, but upon entering, it was indescribable! It was just like the old bookstores you always see on movies. It was the perfect ending to a relaxing and inspirational day! I highly recommend anyone who is a fan of art check out Susquehanna Art Museum via Facebook for more information and their upcoming events!
Small but current collections are diverse and engaging. Kid friendly, inexpensive, and only a couple of blocks from the market. Would definitely do again.
What a lovely treasure. Through work I went to a small wine and art night the gallery was hosting. The curator was very knowledgeable and did a good job of coaching us through our opinions of the artwork. The work they do with local youth is encouraging as well. Cant wait to go back for another exhibit.
We love this place! You can often find work from local high school students by the classrooms (such talent!). Great variety in the ever-changing exhibits - some well-known artists and some waiting to be discovered. The classes are affordable and the teachers are excellent. A must-see if youre in Midtown.
The staff was very patient and service awesome!!
Very unique place with lots of different mediums used in displays. The staff is very friendly. You dont want to miss going through this museum.
Wonderful exhibit of Picasso prints! Highly recommend! Some I have never even seen in an art book.
I volunteer here and I find this place to be fantastic. I love the installations and the people at the museum. It seems to be in an odd spot but Im not 100% familiar with Harrisburg. It is in an old bank which is super cool. My only complaint is the parking lot is a bit rough, but there is on street parking! I highly recommend this place, it has wonderful artwork and is so cheap.
Excellent museum. The new facility in midtown Harrisburg is in an old bank building that was beautifully renovated with a new addition that includes a second floor gallery & educational spaces) attached to it. The staff and volunteers are helpful and informative. The exhibits change periodically throughout the year and there is always something new to see. Highly recommend a visit (or visits) to this first rate art museum.
So glad I stopped. I’ve seen it for years when I’ve looked up museums in Harrisburg during visits to the city. What a treasure for the art community and for Harrisburg. The museum has been, according to a staff member, in the current bank space for about four years. They have a clever way of using the old York Safe and Locked vault for exhibits. The main center bank area is well used with exhibit space, a small sitting area, museum store, and information desk. There are works exhibited also in the hallways leading to art classrooms. The main exhibition space upstairs is generous in size. I saw the portrait exhibit, Looking In. Volunteers are available for additional information if needed.I was really impressed with the mural project and specifically the mural Lady Commonwealth in the museum’s green-space. The other murals in the area complement each other to give the neighborhood beauty and provoke contemplation. The staff was kind, helpful, and accommodating. The staff member at the entrance desk took time to explain the space and talk with me. Based on my interest in the murals, she offered to open the gate to the green space for a better photo. Her offer was greatly appreciated. She was passionate about the museum and its future.I’d strongly recommend a visit and check out their many events. Susquehanna Art Museum is a real asset for locals and visitors alike.
We were there for 3rd in the burg, loved the wine and the snacks, and the art was pretty cool too! Everyone was very friendly. Its great that they change the exhibits every few months. I have seen such a big variety of artworks thanks to this museum.
Inspiring and enlightening art museum with always interesting exhibits and incredible architecture. Dont miss it when you visit Harrisburg PA!!!
Great museum, always have good exhibitions. I like the contemporary stuff but also enjoy those w local themes. A fun afternoon in Harrisburg is going to SAM and then eating at the mill works.
Museum staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable.
Loved the exhibit. Nice place. After being in a middle of a large police event infront of the place As a single woman, not feeling safe with the location.
The art was great. I went for the all ages drag show. The teens did a great job of choreography.
My family loved our experience at this museum recently. The staff was helpful, and the shows are always changing so there are lots of opportunities to return and see new things! Its a smaller sized museum, perfect for a short trip. Discounted admission prices for students, teachers, vets, seniors, etc. Kids under 12 free! Will be back.
I used my student discount and went when it was the Picasso exhibit. Everything was beautiful and it was interesting to view.
This pl;ace has a wonderful artwork and so cheap.
Fabulous hidden treasure. Great museum with an extremely friendly and helpful staff!
I came here to practice yoga, a semi regular event in the coming weeks. The new exhibit is beautiful and really accessible. The yoga class is in the main gallery and happens while the visitors can view the art on the walls.
Picasso exhibit was extremely well done and reminded me of my trip to southern Spain.
Great little museum with an exciting mix of contemporary and classical art. Great experience at a cheap cost.
The staff was friendly. I enjoyed the paintings by Danielle Klebes, and the dazzling display of light art by Luke Murphy. They also had displays of the mural art from around the city.
This museum is such a treasure to Harrisburg! The exhibitions are very interesting, thought provoking and a joy to the soul. I love coming to the museum and look forward to all the new shows.
They have very inexpensive drawing supplies and wonderful art. The staff is amazingly nice and friendly. This is a place to leave your children 10 and under at home due to the nudity shown in the art work upstairs.
This place in a nice little art museum to go to on short notice or stop in if your in town.
I highly recommend this place, it has wonerful artwork and is so cheap but unfortunately there are some annoying regulars who go there and think they own the place.
Nicely done. Always something new to see
Great little museum. A gem in downtown Harrisburg. Lots of great food nearby. Worth a visit.
We spent about an hour in the Susquehanna Art Museum on an overnight visit to Harrisburg. Theres no permanent collection so its more gallery than museum which means your enjoyment of the museum could change depending on which couple of artists are currently exhibiting. Its a nice building with an interesting history...a converted bank building with a small room that used to be the banks safe. Probably the coolest thing in the museum was the closeup views you got to see of the still attached safe doors. The staff was very friendly, including the volunteer in the main gallery who might not have seen another person for years, we thought, based on the amount of time he enthusiastically spent telling us about the featured artist. It was also cool that they had an open / working studio...although nothing was going on there when we happened to be there in the mid-afternoon.If we lived in Harrisburg, wed probably stop in periodically to see new exhibitions as they opened. If youre just visiting Harrisburg, this will only take a little bit of your day to see.
A great museum with really interesting exhibits. Often stop by here to kill time when I am traveling in Harrisburg. Bring your kids, bring your wife, its time for adventure!
Went here on a free night as part of 3rd in the Burg. This is a beautiful building and the art was quite enjoyable. This was my first time here, but I look forward to going back when they switch exhibitions.
No art, just went to vote.
Enjoyed what I saw. They were remodeling, so mostly everything was closed for viewing
Small, but beautiful. Really beautiful.
Wonderful staff, beautifully presented works.
The staff are kind and the building has interesting history. Visiting is a must.
There is a small exhibit of Picasso prints, maybe 30, that are well worth the effort of going to go see. A real gem of an exhibit.
Nice little gem in Harrisburg!
A lovely space with fascinating shows and exhibits, the Susquehanna Art Museum is a staple of the Harrisburg community. Go check it out!

Dont waste your money, only in there for 4 minutes . Highly disgusted by the money they charge to see barely anything .
