Poor Quality and Craftsmanship. It is definitely quantity over quality with Myers. The faster they can build them the better. Everything either creaks or has already broken. Ive had my ceiling leak and break through in my dining room. My roof leaked in 2 spots, my floors pop throughout the house because nothing was nailed correctly, my island is uneven in my kitchen and I’ve had doors just fall off my cabinets. And it’s the same at my families other 2 houses in my neighborhood. When you call to make an appointment they say they are too backed up or if the do show up to “fix” anything they want you to sign a waiver immediately that your satisfied with the work. Save your money.

New $450,000 house. This is what what you get with no help from the builder. The punch list is an absolute joke! Not ONE thing was fixed or called back on. There are multiple things that I took care of on my own, but this right here was one that I wanted to address immediately. You have to go through a third-party database and if something is incorrect or does not count it does not matter.

We are in the process of having a home built and the only time we ever hear from them is to tell us things are going to be more expensive. We entered into a contract and they emailed us that they didnt account for the sidewalk length at contract time and it was going to cost 1k more. They also increased the price of materials after we signed the contract claiming they had the wrong pricing. They lied about an easement being able to built upon on our lot and the township notified us that that actually isnt accurate and we had to switch lots and they charged us 3 grand to switch to the one we wanted, despite having made so many mistakes for us already. To top it all off they just emailed us that even though were in contract, the price is going up 25K!!! buyer beware this seems like a massive bait and switch. They list houses at 50k less then other builders in the area and then absolutely plan to make up that difference claiming a recent price spike, but the material prices have been high for almost a year now. May not even go through with this build. Their model homes seem cheaply built.

We bought a new home in 2012. Overall, its a great starter home, however as the years go on, I can really begin to see the cheap subcontractor work.Almost all of our floors creek. Upon inspection in the unfinished basement, about half of the screws in the sub floor missed joists and subfloor seams and corners dont land on the joist in a few spots causing the floor to sag.About a year after our purchase, they came out to address a draft in the upper master bedroom for the punch list. They said the seams on the exterior insulation behind the siding were not taped. They took off the front quarter of the siding, and soffit by the porch and taped the seams. Unfortunately, now that we have kids, and actually use the 2nd 3rd and 4th bedroom, weve come to realize that the seams on the entire house mustve been missed. VERY VERY poorly insulated. I can easily hear the neighbors shut their car doors and open garages, or just plain talking. In the winter, the upstairs is at least 10 degrees colder than the rest of the house. In the summer its like a sauna, even with the main floor showing 70.Our driveway has sunken to the point theres a 2 large gap between the garage pad and the driveway. This has caused water to pool and somehow it soaks the inside of the basement wall by the stairs. The basement floor also gets dark from moisture.We have a chandelier in our foyer. I cant believe this but they used a plastic box for this. Not only is this unsafe, but it has caused it to sag/hang away from the ceiling. 9 years later and all of the AC outlets throughout the house are extremely loose. Easy to tighten, but this shouldnt happen.The drywall contractor was pretty sloppy as well. They use matte builder grade paint to try to hide this, but as soon as you throw up some semi gloss or eggshell you can see every flaw. We also have many walls in the house that the corner beads were not installed plumb. The wall itself tapers. Just pathetic.Lastly, the gutter mounts are literally just screwed to the siding, causing the siding to pull away from the house. Allowing wasps, and presumably moisture to get behind it.We love our home, but these things are hard to overlook. The driveway is just concerning for long-term issues. The drafts and temp differences from poor insulation though are by far the worst. Every electrical outlet and window sill in the upstairs is like an AC vent in the winter. My daughters room and our room face west and in the summer time, its just plain impossible to get them cool unless you set the house to 60.I wish we would have had them tape the rest of the exterior at the 1yr mark, and many other homes in the neighborhood have the same driveway sag in the exact same spot so I can only imagine it was all copy n paste style work.

The house is solidly built, details and warranty has a lot of work needed. The outside work is horrible, siding not put on correctly, grading was 3 feet off at foundation, grass was nothing but weeds, and the backyard floods on a simple downpour. I personally would not use this builder again.

This is how JA Myers leaves the community street within living communites while completing their final home repeatedly. If this is the work ethic they show on the street, imagine what you do not see in the homes they build you.

I purchased a home to scale down and to move my mother into a single floor home. We are both very happy with the purchase and so far all is good. There was a certain difficulty getting us in before winter but the bad weather was definitely a factor. In the end, J.A. Myers did a final push on our behalf and we were able to have the closing right before Christmas. The place is well built and the space and division of the rooms very well planned. We purchased a luxury unit and the high ceiling is what we like the most.

Recently purchased a home from this builder. The community is new and simply gorgeous. Affordable. The staff from all departments were courteous and knowledgeable. And...you cant beat the down payment assistance program!

We worked with J.A Myers on a hoarded home they had flipped and we wanted to purchase, it was my husbands childhood home. From the aesthetic point of things the home was gorgeous. However as we live here we notice things were done to code but no more than that, just enough to pass the inspection. There was broken glass and garbage all over the yard, this was to be cleaned up and it was not they flipped the dirt and throw grass seed and mulch on top, a busted sewer pipe in the basement they didn’t see although it was swept clean ( they did fix this after our realtor company reached out and asking them to fix it, there is no ceiling fan boxes in any room and there was an exposed uncapped copper wire shoved in the insulation in our bedroom ceiling light. They were not willing to work with us when their second appraisal came in lower than our first one and wanted us to pay the difference, so to prevent loosing the chance at my husbands child hood home our wonderful real estate company paid for a 3 rd appraisal in hopes it would match the first. To top all of this off we were trying to buy during COVID and already under contract during the shut down. They threatened to pull out twice because we had to move our closing date due to not having a proof of a full paycheck for the loan company at the time to close. I am disappointed in things we are slowly seeing and noticing as the house begins to settle and we investigate further along with the obvious lack in pride of their work. You can tell things were done to meet the bare minimum of the standards and not to go any higher. Not to mention they were rude when I went to drop off a check, the lady at the desk just abruptly and rudely asked what I wanted as if I was bothering herI will never be purchasing a home built, remodeled or sold by them again.

Recently purchased a house in march from them. They completely refurbished the house; walls, floors, ceilings, windows, and updated all the lights in the house. I would recommend them to anyone.

Our experience dealing with J.A. Myers Homes has been very good. We would recommend them to anyone. The quality of workmanship is excellent. In new construction if there is something you are not satisfied with they address your concern and make arrangements to have it fixed. It is a pleasure to deal with Dave (foreman)and Bill (sales manager Cherry Tree). Very friendly and they want to please you. We are very happy in our new home!!!! We built this house in 2010, and a couple of years ago, the large chandelier in the main hallway cap came loose. I thought it was from me dusting, but it made us nervous, so we had our handy man check it out. Turns out that the builder put in a cheap plastic box to hold this heavy chandelier and it was broken into pieces. He told us that it was ready to come crashing down any time. Someone could have been seriously hurt or killed. Please be aware and check your chandeliers. We also contracted to have fan boxes put into all our ceiling fixtures in the bedrooms so that we could easily install fans when ready. Turns out that these too, were plastic boxes and had to be replaced. Just want you all to be aware. Our kitchen dining area lighting fixture also came loose for the same reason.

My husband and I were looking to downsize and we are now enjoying our new townhome from J. A. Myers Homes. The whole process went smoothly and any questions we had were answered in a timely manner and everyone we very nice. We now enjoy spending our evenings relaxing on our deck.

Excellent experience with JA Myers. Wayne the foreman was very good, demanding that tasks were done properly. The small things that can make a big difference were excellent. For example the concrete work was smooth, done with expansion joints, sidewalk exceeded expectations with a nice curved design. The electrical work was done with Square D panel, high quality. The plumbing was done with a 1 pipe and 3/4 feeding the far side of the house. They could have done the job with 1/2 pipe which reduces the water flow considerably. They use 6 exterior walls for improved insulation. These are a few examples of the quality they build into the home. And they do this at a very competitive price.I would recommend JA Myers to anyone.

J.A. Myers Homes is, by far, the best builder in the area. From the start of the construction process to closing their organization was absolutely outstanding. My family has been living in our custom home for 4 years now. They took our vision of the perfect home and made it into a reality. Nice townhouses where I resided but obvious electrical issues. The management is tough to reach and when you do they bully you, especially the Myers themselves. What a shame.

We chose JA Myers to build our off-site Avenel home because of great reviews, how long they have been in business, etc. Before we bought our lot from someone else we had to meet with Ben to come up with rough plans for the inside and outside of our home. We told him that we liked the first floor of the Avenel and the second floor of another plan and Ben told us that we can make a 5th bedroom where we would have a loft and and the 2nd floor family room. We LOVED that idea so much since we didnt want any wasted space and had furniture that would definitely fit in a bigger room. Ben was patient with us and our community with building rules and customized our Avenel wherever we wanted to change things to our liking. Mike, our foreman was awesome.; he went above and beyond with his hard work and dedication to our house. We are VERY IMPRESSED with JA Myers and would recommend them to anyone who wants to build. We are VERY HAPPY in our perfect new home. Thank You So Much!

Did a terrible job, kept inflating the price for problems that didn’t exist during construction, tried to sue us for not paying the remainder of the money owed for jobs not completed. The quality of the house is subpar and it did not withstand the recent rainstorms without the basement flooding. Among other problems that were fixed after construction was completed include terrible electric work (failed outlets and wiring that needed to be replaced by us), rain down spouting needed replacing and extended to an under ground setup to stop the yard from flooding. The grinder pump needed to be replaced because the plumber they hired forgot to cover the exterior piping before the frigid winter caused it freeze and fail, it needed to be replaced. Basement door leaks. The ceiling above the living room has a leak from the master bath. This is only a handful of issues and the drama and headache we got from this terrible builder is enough to say never again. 1 Star!! P.S. I told this to my friends that were looking to build and they said they never heard of a builder giving so many problems to a buyer and they thanked me for telling them to AVOID J.A. Myers!

Colleen, Ben, Sandy and the entire team at JA Myers Homes were fabulous to work with. They allowed us to make customizations and changes to our new home that other builders would not - yes we can was always their attitude! After walking through and sitting down with other builders in the area, and having friends who bought from those other builders and hearing the troubles they had with their homes, we are glad we bought our second home with JA Myers. Proud to say we have been 12 years (10 years in our first home and now 2 years in our second) with JA Myers Homes.
