I gave Pivotal Fitness a try and after 5 visits I am very impressed. Conveniently located at Tanner Station in Hanahan, the fitness center has everything needed to get in shape, or maintain/improve your fitness level. This location has about 5 or 6 treadmills, 3 or 4 ellipticals and 3 exercise bikes. There’s also plenty of weight machines as well as lots of free weights and other equipment. Another area of the gym is a little more open allowing for space for those that want to do their own fitness routine. The gym was very clean in all of my visits and never seemed to be too crowded.
My husband and I have only been members for a few months. Location is within walking distance which makes it very convenient. When we first inquired the staff was very polite, accommodating and professional. We always get a smiling face and a hello when we enter the building. This was a big factor in our decision to join the Hanahan Pivotal Fitness. The facility is very clean and has top of the line equipment. I will definitely recommend this establishment to others.
Justin, the new manager at this location, is super friendly and helpful! The gym itself is well maintained and is perfect for my workout needs. If youre considering signing up at this location, I highly recommend it!
Text messages and a big message board when you walk in to “Leave us a 5 star review, and win a year free”. They are pushing hard for a “5 star review”Place hasn’t changed much from ESAC to O2, to now Pivotal. Men’s room is absolutely disgusting and hasn’t changed in cleanliness in YEARS. Use either toilet, and you will probably get a staph infection. They charge a “Club improvement fee” every year plus your regular dues monthly. This resulted in a few pieces of new equipment, but same torn up and nasty benches and a squat rack from the 70s.Staff during the day is hit or miss and if you do bring up a concern, they go right back to playing on their cell phone. Only plus is it’s 24 hours
Since joining Pivotal fitness I have been very pleased with the quality of the facility and all of the equipment that is available. It is very clean and the best part, it is not crowded and very close to Tanner Plantation.
I love this gym. It has all I need for a daily good workout. A lot of the equipment is new and they keep bringing new things. It’s convinient. It’s open 24 hours. There are Agee times it can get crowded but the crowd is good people.
Staff is always super friendly and are willing to help with anything! I love that it’s open 24/7 and the equipment selection is great! The best thing I like about this gym compared to others is, it’s not super big and crowded, it has a great ratio of cardio machines to weights unlike other gyms like P.F. That seems like it only has cardio machines. Also, it’s very friendly to new lifters and experienced ones!
It’s a small gym but it has all the basics and it’s really nice that you can scan in anytime you want. The people here are really nice
Awesome facility for it being a 24-hour gym. It definitely has everything you could need and more
It’s nice for a 24-hour facility, the equipment is all new, the place is keep clean, and the staff is friendly
Awesome 24 hr access. Very friendly staff and super convenient. Plenty of equipment to go around and no huge crowds. Great spot to get your fitness fix!
This gym is a small gym that fits all your basic needs and is open 24 hours!- Desiree Schnackenberg
Seems like theyve turned this facility around recently compared to some of the recent reviews Ive read. They recently remodeled and it is much nicer inside and equipment is updated. The gym is kept clean and the staff is always pleasant and nice when Im in there. I paid for a year in advance so I cant speak to any billing issues. The space is a little small and it can feel crowded on some days during peak hours. Overall Ive had a good experience!
Be careful signing up for a “membership” with this company. It’s not really a membership, it’s a loan which you will have to pay back in full. They will not let you out of it under any circumstances.
Nicole Breivogel great place to work out
24 hour access, hardly ever busy and has everything you could ever need. New owners/management hooked me up with a deal for renewing my membership and paying for the year up front! They are super friendly and personal. The only reason I gave four stars is because there is no functionable water fountain. You have to purchase at the front. Its very inconvenient if you workout outside of staffed hours. Itd be cool if there was one of the fountains thats motion sensored that refills your bottle that conserves water. A water fountain is absolutely necessary for a gym. Maybe offer protein shakes/sports drinks/preworkout drinks in addition to water for purchase.
Never crowded, neat and tidy place to exercise!
It’s not the biggest but it honestly has everything you need and it’s never too crowded
2nd week since the beginning of the year (it’s March now) that the gym has gone unstaffed. Covid compliance? Ha. Paper towels, hand sanitizer, hand soap remains unstocked. Can’t wipe down equipment. The kicker is the broken (or deliberately unplugged) water fountain with a sign above asking $2 for small bottled water which is of course kept in an unattended locked fridge. If you want to work out here be sure to bring your own water, soap, and towels. The “new” equipment is a third cable machine (why fix the current one) and more cardio equipment. The convenient location is no longer convenient.Updated from 1 to 3 stars: The aforementioned issues have been remedied, but the overall equipment leaves much to be desired when compared to other Pivotals in the area.
After weeks of trying to get in touch with someone who works here followed by a while of slow back and forth texts, I finally got an appointment to tour the place and get pricing. I was STOOD UP for my appointment. I honestly was planning on signing up. I’ll make sure everyone else knows not to use this gym either since there’s a bunch of us looking!
DO NOT, DO NOT use this gym franchise!! They are a fraudulent company. We have documentation from cancelling our membership in JULY, and they are still billing us! We have not had any success reaching anyone who can help us with their company and their billing dept, and many of our phone calls and emails have gone unanswered. We are now going to have to go through the process of filing a claim with our credit card company. Additionally, while they were closed in the early days of Covid, they continued to bill us!! We attempted to reach them then to inquire about this, and no one could be reached over phone or email! The lack of customer service has been unbelievable. Apparently, we are not alone, as we have seen other reviews from other people who are having difficulty cancelling their memberships. Shame on them! We will be making every effort on social media, google reviews and in conversations with others to discourage supporting this company. P.S. During our experience frequenting the gym under their ownership, the facility in Park West was dirty. I wouldnt trust their cleanliness practices with everything going on.
Its alright. Sales associates are polite but they need to restock the place.
It’s a really nice atmosphere. staff is very friendly and helpful. love how accessible it is to get to from my house. it’s never packed inside, very pleased with everything!
I called to cancel my membership (been a member for many years) due to the covid crisis. Was told I have to come and cancel in person (which is unsafe and the reason I am cancelling) and have to pay for the next 30 days and a $50 cancellation fee. This is not only bad business but puts me at risk by forcing an in store appearance. Very unhappy and will definitely not join again once the pandemic is over.Update - I have been emailing the only email I was given by the manager (Pivitalcares@...) for over a week and received no response. The manager would not give me anything other than the first name of her distrcit manager and the generic email. No last name, no work email for DM, no phone number for a corporate office. Terrible communications and policies from this place.Run, dont walk, away from this place.
As of 6/1/20, the air conditioning has been out for two weeks. Inquires to the front desk result in no answers as to what the problem is or when it will be fixed. Emails to [email protected] go unanswered. Now theres an oxymoron, PivotalCares, its obvious they dont.If youre thinking of joining this gym youre probably better off getting your exercise by running away from it.They fixed the AC shortly after my initial review so Im bumping them up a couple stars.
Decent gym just not well maintained at all
The facility is poorly-maintained with run-down equipment. The bathrooms are never clean, and the regular staff are unable to do anything but launder towels -- any question Ive ever had about my account was met with a stone wall of ignorance from front-desk personnel and required multiple trips to catch a manager onsite.Things have only gotten worse after the Pivotal Fitness acquisition. After being charged dues while the gym was closed during COVID lockdown, I have been trying to cancel my membership for two months. I have a been a member for almost 5 years at this point and am on a month-to-month agreement. Phone calls are met with deferrals to customer service e-mail, which has gone unanswered after multiple attempts to reach out.Pivotal no longer appears to be receiving mail at this location, nor staffing it according to posted hours.
Good small gym thats close to home!
Ive been to other O2s that are WAY nicer. This one is too small for the cost. Water fountain consistently broken. Treadmill machines often broken (and only one or two that are actually decent). Membership cancellation policy is unclear, so you get charged for a month youre not using if you dont cancel a month in advance. Dont waste your money. I was a member for years, but Im so disappointed in the equipment and customer service from corporate. Glad Ive left.
Best gym around! Location is perfect for convience. Staff are always so nice and helpful. The facility is clean and tidy. My children go to the child care and the girls who work in there are amazing.
Gym is small so gets crowded easily. Equipment is nice and adequate for any workouts Ive done. Open 24 hours which is a huge bonus. Staff isnt very friendly, will say hi and bye when you come and go but thats about all the interaction youre getting from them.
Need more, updated machines. The ones they have seem to always be broken. If it wasn’t so convenient to my house, I would definitely go elsewhere.
It would be nice to have some more personable workers (just a hello and goodbye would be great) but as for the gym as a whole, this place rocks! Nothing crazy fancy, just the right stuff for anyone who wants to build muscle or lose weight.
Im giving them one star because zero is not an option. I was texting with the person from the gym who offered me a $199 paid in full year option. When I showed up the next day after having told the person I would be there the next day they proceeded to tell me it was $299 and that the $199 deal expired the day before. I had clearly stated that I was interested in the $199 deal and verified that it would be okay to come the next day. I feel like that was just bait to get me to walk in the door. Im extremely unimpressed with people who do business this way. Needless to say I will take my business elsewhere.
I couldnt have better things to say about the helpfulness of the staff at this location! Not only was everyone I encountered friendly and professional, two of the staff helped me jump my car when the battery died! Now thats going above and beyond. Very impressed!
Good basic equipment except a good squat rack. Plenty of cardio equipment. Nice that there is 24 hour access but the door access scanner doesnt always work after staff hours.
Since this gym likes to constantly call me after telling them Im not signing up after a tour from two years ago, Lemme tell you how it went two years ago. They gave me the crappiest tour of the crappiest gym Ive ever been inside.
For the location its in I would expect bigger and better. This place is very crowded. It also is very dirty and just has a run down look to it. The schedule for employees to help you is very limited with no other options. I will be getting a refund and talking my business else where. Also after the staff is gone lots of people bring there friends who clearly dont have a member ship making it even more crowded. The TV on the machines would only stay on one channel. Also they said there would be towels provided but there arent any. The bathrooms do have a shower but there isnt really any room if you just want to go in there and change.
Its a good facility. I have no complaints.
Wow what a mess. I go to O2 fitness in Hanahan. First, they charge an arm and a leg for everything. 55 a month for a couple, fees for this, fees for that, membership fees out the wazoo. Oh, you can do a month to month contract but it costs 100 dollars if you dont autorenew because you not returning to the gym is a huge inconvenience for them, obviously. The equipment in this gym is terrible! Its old, torn to shreds, squeaky, rusty, falling apart. It looks like it was found in someones yard before trash pick up. The cardio machines are CONSTANTLY broke. O2 told me after ESAC left things would get better. They havent. O2 is not a good gym to belong to. They charge way too much money for the product. All the fees are completely unnecessary, and the service you get is not worth it. Its WAY TOO much money. Stay away from O2. They are not worth it. I give it one star because I cannot rate a 0.
Itliterally turned into the worst gym locally. Every piece of equipment is being replaced with hand me downs and is in worse condition then the previous. Talk to a few members they all feel the same.
Nice club. Need to repair broken equipment on a timely basis.
Water fountain tastes like dirt, not enough variety of equipment or classes. Some treadmills are broken and staff is not very helpful.
Hidden fees, usual gym contract stuff. Felt like a used car deal...So I’ve canceled this membership 14 different ways and yet today I see they’re TRYING to charge my account AGAIN! Who do you need to contact for crying out loud?
If you are like me, and are attending Power School and Prototype, dont sign the contracts here. It is a hassle to end the contract, and you wont end up going as often as you think.
24 hour access is a huge benefit from this location
Not crowded but they could use an equipment upgrade and a bigger aka real locker room...
Glorified cardio center with broken treadmills,
Friendly staff and open 24 hours
Glorified cardio center, with some weights
