The guys at Grosse Pointe Auto are amazing. My car wouldnt start at all and they were still able to get me in and out same day at a very reasonable price. I am extremely happy that I found this place! I had some suspension issues I explained what was going on they checked it out and gave me a run down and for once I didnt feel like I was getting the run around. When your a female bringing your car into a shop its not always easy to trust what your being told. When I got my baby back the difference was night and day! I dont think I will ever trust taking my vehicle anywhere else!

I took my car here thinking of I can expect my car would be repaired completely. I paid $1600 to get it fixed. Two weeks later I am taking it back because of some ticking noise. I replace my alternator and a belt. Now they say its a timing chain that needs to be replaced. $2100 you mean to tell me you didnt notice that when you replacing the alternator. Coming from another mechanic, I was told that you gentlemen had to know that I need a timing chain Belt.You cant trust any auto repair shop nowadays. Im in tears, but its a lesson learned not to trust anyone. I have 2013 Buicklacrosse.

Long time customer, but my last service was done so poorly I had to take it to another shop to have it redone. I chose to pay twice rather bring it back there. What made me upset was they knew that they did a poor/ incorrect job but still charged full price. I spent over $1000 and my car is worse than it was when I brought it in. Super disappointed, I always thought they had great customer service.

The service and check engine lights came on, so I asked for mechanic recommendations in Grosse Pointe and my friends all suggested Grosse Pointe Auto Repair.Rick was very friendly and professional, and he happens to have a background in servicing British cars. He agreed to speak with the selling dealers mechanic and run a full scan of the Rolls to get a complete picture of potential issues.Rick had the car fixed and ready for pick-up in 24 hours. It runs smoothly and Im extremely pleased, all for less than half what the RR dealers estimated charge.Im thrilled to have a place I can trust to take my new baby. Every time that we’ve taken our vehicles here it’s been Beautiful until recently, they kept my truck for over a week without even a phone call and then when they did start working on my truck tried to charge me almost $500 for breaks Absolutely NOT I’m so very disappointed. Had a interlock device installed in my vehicle in August 2019 at this place. The staff was very friendly and informative about the device. They didnt make me feel less of an individual because of this. I recommend them. It is now October 12th 2019 and I am changing my rating from 5 stars to 1 star. On September 12th 2019, I had my vehicle inspected for a rotational noise. The vehicle was diagnosed by Grosse Pointe Automotive Repair with a faulty transfer case. I was quoted a price of $700. This did not include labor. I declined. After calling other repair places around Detroit on October 10, 2019 I found a better price of $650 with labor. They replaced the transfer case on 10/12/19, they asked me why would I demand replacing a part that wasnt broken? I told them this was diagnosed by Grosse Pointe Automotive Repair. They stated to me that the problem was a hub bearing on the passenger side and couldnt understand why Grosse Pointe Automotive would diagnose a faulty transfer case! So now I am out of $650 for a part I didnt have to replace and $200 more for a hub bearing replacement. I will definitely be seeking legal assistance. I would not recommend any other work besides an Interlock system at this facility.

I took my car there for a carburetor rebuild and other work. They would not let me test drive my car until I paid them $2,100.That should have been a red flag. I now have a car in the street that will not even start!They left not a drop of gas in the car. After putting a quarter tank of gas in with jiffy cans the car still would not start!The mechanic said, I do not put gas in cars.Not enough for a customer to even get a vehicle to a gas station?I called a tow truck for a jump. It still will not start. Mechanic said he may come after work.After work? Their work is not done until my car starts and runs!I will update this review if they finish the job as required. Be very careful there. I have had to contact an attorney.

GPAR fixed a problem with my intake manifold correctly and at a good price. They also inspected the suspension on my forester and only charged 1/2 hour of time. Both visits the people were nice

Dwayne is a straight shooter and has never let me down. I recommend these guys for sure. My suggestion would be to have him do your initial price quote rather than one of the mechanics. He is the man in charge so it just make things smoother if he is aware of the issues up front and throughout the process.I have probably been there about 10-15 times over the years. I have only had one time where I felt like the work was a little off. However, he told me bring it back in and made it right the very next day. His same mechanics have been there for years so that is also a great sign. I will continue to use these guys for sure.

I apologize for giving them so many stars but they were as close to perfect as could be. I brought a car in sounding like it was falling apart after being run into the ground by teenagers. Rick looked at me like I was a new boat. I was expecting at best to get a diagnosis by closing at three pm on Saturday, instead at 1PM I got great news that instead of a transmission it was a broken bolt for motor mounts. I had emergency repair work done at this establishment as my vehicle became disabled in the Grosse Pointe’s and a dear friend of mine, who lives the area and has used them for many years, highly recommended. They took my car in on an emergency basis near closing time and promptly called me a day later to inform me my vehicle, an MKZ, would need some significant repairs that required removing the engine and transmission to facilitate. They properly diagnosed the issue and completed the repairs according to the quoted budget and timeline. In fact, Rick promised my car completed by late afternoon as he knew I had a rental that I had to return that evening. In addition to the emergency repairs, they were able to diagnose and repair an annoying front suspension issue that Belle Tire failed to identify on two separate visits. Based on my experience with Rick and the owner, Dwayne, I would certainly use them again for any minor or major repair.

I really wanted to like this place because its right down the street and Ive gotten good reviews from other locals... However its now been close to 2 weeks and I havent been given even an estimate. I understand if things get backed up; thats normal. What is not normal is the lack of communication. Ive been told multiple times that I will get a call and it doesnt happen. I was told by the manager, Rick, if i dont have news, i dont call. This approach leaves the customer in the dark and in this case, not happy with the service. Very disappointing experience so far.

You have to be able to trust the people that are working on your car, and that is the last thing you can do with these people. If you do not know much about cars they will take advantage of you at every turn trying to squeeze every penny they can out of you. They take days working on your car and say they will communicate the problem with you only to blow you off and wondering what the hell is going on. I brought my car in to fix an electrical system problem. A week after they said they fixed it the problem continued so I brought it back. They charged me again saying they found more problems they didnt see the first time. I was charged almost $800. Fast forward 6 months later and the problems are still there. If this review will stop one person from going there than it has done its job. This people are crooks.

Honest mechanics who teach you whats going on with your car

I brought my truck here after it had dumped a lot of oil and had not been running right for the past few days. They told me it was just a seal on the oil filter. The truck still wasnt running well when I got it back and they told me it was just an old motor. I only had the truck on the road for 2 days and had to get it towed again because it wouldnt stay running.
