Called them three times enduring hold times trying to reschedule a hitch install. Promised call back in 20 minutes, hear nothing back and its been *days*. Finally gave up and sent them an email to cancel. Of course, no reply.Lesson, people: the best you will ever be treated by a business is before work is done or a sale is completed. Act accordingly.
This whole experience with U-haul U boxes has been the worst moving experience Ive ever had. I moved my 80 year old mom across country and every step was a disaster. First the movers never showed up. I called U-haul and they said they use a 3rd party and could not answer any questions I had or why they didnt show up so I had to call a different moving company to have them move her stuff. Then the truck got delayed and her arrival date was moved a 2 weeks longer. Then they didnt even deliver the box to her apartment they just dropped it off at the u-haul location in Gresham. I called the Gresham location but I think that sends you to a call center and talked to the rudest lady Ive ever talked to. She said they never deliver the boxes to the apartments they always drop them off at the local u-haul place then I have to call to schedule the drop off. This is not what they told me when I first scheduled the move. I scheduled an appointment to have it dropped off at her apartment. When it was supposed to get dropped off I get a call from a different location that said I dont know why they scheduled it for that day we have no openings for a whole another week so she moved the delivery date out another week. I tried calling the Gresham location to see if I could just come empty the box myself there instead of having my mom wait another week as she has been living in an empty apartment for a month now and after waiting on hold for an hour and a half I had to hang up to get back to work. Did this for 4 days before I actual got through to someone. Im pretty sure it was the same rude lady I talked to the first time. She scheduled a time for me to come and open the box at the u-haul place. When I went they did not pull the box and I had to reschedule for the following Sunday. I showed up Sunday morning when they open and waited in line for an hour just for them to tell me they forgot to pull the box again so I had to wait for them to get it. I will never us U-haul again.
I had made an appointment to install a hitch on my wifes van. I had purchased the hitch on their website, when I made the appointment. I called to confirm the appointment the day of, and was told my hitch had been sold, and they were pushing my appointment back, until their next shipment arrived. I suppose its a good thing I called to confirm. Wouldve been nice to not have had to clear my schedule for nothing. I asked them to call me if they didnt receive my hitch before my next appointment. My appointment is tomorrow, and still havent heard from them.Edit* After speaking with the GM, Cody, about my concerns, he was helpful and apologetic. I am updating my rating to a 4 star, because, although I am still disappointed in the fact that the merchandise was sold, he did his best to make it right. And I cant blame people for potential system errors
They charged me 135 dollars for leaving the gas at the amount I got it. I WILL NEVER go here again, when I tried to ask the young guy why it charging me for leaving it how I found it. He shrugged his shoulders. Absolutely trash. Horrible employees. Horrible company!!!
As a single lady with her son, I trusted U hauls website when it states, uhaul accepts used boxes for a % of the total cost refunded. Well, we just returned 4 wardrobe boxes with the 4 bars and because there was a smidgeon of tape on the bottom, their manager the the Gresham, Oregon uhaul store blatantly refused ANY refund at all on all 4 wardrobe boxes. I stated they are falsely advertising on their website and here is their review to show it. Buy your boxes from somewhere else folks or these guys will rip you off for $52!
I got a breaking controller installed and they clearly did not follow the instructions when installing the unit. The instructions clearly say that the unit must be installed horizontally. The instructions also say that you have to run it through a set up procedure. The manager admitted that all they do is hook it up to a metal box and as long as it passes metal box that’s all they care about. Does the brake controller work? Of course not. You would think a company this big would follow the manufacturers instructions on the unit they sold me and installed. But of course not. Instead of being apologetic and bending over backwards to get me in to fix this problem. All the manager did was delay and make excuses. I will clearly share pictures of my brake control not mounted horizontally as well as the instructions that they seem to not want to follow. Trust them “maybe” with your moving needs but I would not trust them with your personal car at all.
The E University, Tempe, AZ, U-Haul attendant who hooked up the Auto Transport to my qualified pickup (w/U-Haul ball and mount) failed to tighten the coupler onto the ball. When I drove my vehicle onto the Auto Transport, the coupler came loose from the ball and damaged the back of my truck. When I arrived in Portland after the 1350 mile drive, after checking the coupler at every stop and again before unloading my vehicle from the Auto Transport, the coupler failed again to stay secured to the ball upon unloading my vehicle from the Auto Transport, and further damaged the back of my truck. When I verbally reported these TWO U-Haul equipment failures to the Gresham, OR, U-Haul attendant, he advised reporting only one incident, not both, and to report the arrival, not the departure, incident. I followed his advice and he recorded the arrival incident in the U-Haul system. Within two days I got a call from a U-Haul insurance company representative asking for info (again, I related ONE incident per the Gresham U-Haul attendants advice), then a follow-up call denying any U-Haul responsibility for the equipment failure. U-Haul refused to own up to their negligence, incompetence and equipment failure, and denied my claim. I plan to sue in small claims court. PLEASE, if you plan to rent a U-Haul Auto Transport, DO NOT RENT the one with Washington plate 3617QP (serial # AT 4697 Y); you may endanger your life and lives of your passengers and other motorists! Ive used U-Haul several times over many years, so this response from them is disappointing, to say the least.
This morning I went in to pick up parts. Jody (I believe that was his name) was by himself & clearly had lots of work to do, but helped me with no problem. He was very kind and his customer service was on point.

After a very rushed check in I told the gentleman that I needed to take one of the cars home because theres no way we could drive 3 vehicles out of here so in that short amount of time he ran and got the truck and then pulled it forward and I said well we cant drive it without taking 1 of these home so we drove the car home then came back and they had to put the truck away I said well we already rented it and I told the man I had to return 1 of the vehicles thats we are 2 people we cannot drive 3 cars The man exploded on us started ranting that Im teen that it could have got stolen and if it got stolen it would have been liable on us and I said well we told you we had to leave and take the car home So after the man was finished exploding we just walked off and I wish I would remember his name His customer service very poor very rushed and then for him to explode on us like that was not OK I think it was close to closing and he just wanted to get out of there and was upset that he had to go get the truck back out
Good luck getting a hold of anyone there. They dont seem to answer their phones during business hours.
Check in and check out is such a fiasco. I guess I just expected uhaul to be a pretty easy, self-serve kind of deal. Not at this one. Staff is very friendly! Their computers need an upgrade though.
I reserved my trailer and when I went to go pick it up they told me that they didn’t have it and that they give it away. They forced me to drive 2 hours round trip to get another trailer from the Tigard area. I have been waiting for almost a week for a “case manager” to reach out about a partial refund due to wasting my time and breaking a customer promise. This is the second time Uhual has done me wrong and I’m never going to do business with this shady company ever again.
Very easy self check-in/check-out process for renting vehicles. Nice and clean vehicles. Would recommend.
Bait and switch masters right here, when a 2 hour rental doubles in price. It blows my mind how much they charge w/o a single mile included. $60 to rent and not even a hundred miles doubles your price so I wish you’d be honest and not try to get as much as you can anyway you can. You know they do it on purpose because otherwise the mileage calculator would be on the reservation side instead they wait until you show up to pay just so the price looks better. If the mileage calculator was a part of the reservation process and I say that total I would have kept shopping. This is why I call it a bait and switch they show 1 price on reservation and find other charges when you pay .BTW if you need a short rental Home Depot is cheaper and has unlimited mileage. They don’t double your cost at checkout.
After finding out prices we decided not to rent they kept our Id and two months later still havent gotten it back nor have they responded or called back

Staff is kind, courteous, and accommodating, all services Ive received have been top notch. They made my cross-country move easy peasy and hassle free. This location is also very easily accessible, not far from the interstate and not difficult to locate. If youre looking for a short term (or longer term) storage solution then I would recommend looking into what this place has to offer.
Whenever I call their store, they hang up on me. They never even say hello.

I reserved a 12 trailer to haul something and this included coordinating schedules with the person who sold me the object and the vendor who was going to take it and finish it for me after picking it up. Arranging all 3 things on a weekend took some doing, so it was really upsetting to show up at Uhaul to discover that they didnt have the trailer I reserved. The problem was that the prior renter hadnt returned it. They called that other renter, found out that he wouldnt be returning it for a long time, and were very apologetic to me. I made some several calls and was able to coordinate everyone on my end again for the next day. It cost me a little more and that was frustrating, but at least it was going to work out and the folks at Uhaul scheduled my new reservation. I showed up the next day and everything went smoothly. The staff there apologized again, discounted my rental by 30%, and were very friendly. The problem I had wasnt their fault - they cant control a person not returning a rental when they are supposed to - but they took care of it the best they could. Renting moving equipment can be a pain, and this location is large and busy, but my experience there was personal and fantastic.
Understaffed for the amount of clients they get on a regular day. I never got the equipment I paid for to be in the truck when I picked up. Better off going to enterprise or Penske with better rates and unlimited mileage.
With helpful staff and efficient service, this Gresham U-Haul moving and storage facility is a valuable resource to the community and new residents to the area!

Granted, I only needed the truck for a couple hours, it was still awesome that they helped me out and let me take it when I needed it. Guy was super nice and helpful. Lines can get long and they seem understaffed. But... Will definitely use this location again.
From the moment we arrived the staff and management went beyond to welcome us to town, make sure our trip and travel went well and set us up with storage. They were helpful, happy, and eager to assist. Best rental and storage experience we have ever had. Great guys.

Felt rushed and had the need to connections done by the employee. They gave also gave me a different trailer than I had reserved. Came 15 min later to exchange @ 5min until closing and the employee that had me drop off the trailer off said he couldnt do anything because the computers were already shut down. I asked to speak with his supervisor and the employee came back within 30 seconds and told me his manager was not available to speak with me and said I quote Sorry homie, we all gotta go home speaking about him and his co-workers. This employee was rude and I do have an issue with his customer service. Keep in mind that I was being very polite and at no point had an attitude.I left the trailer on-site with my paperwork and asked that he pass it along to his manager and to call me if there was going to be an issue with a refund.A few days later I called in as I had not yet received a refund. The associate I spoke with had never done this refund process and had to need to call someone else for instructions. The call took about 20 minutes for him to complete the form (terminology ?). This employee was helpful and polite, to complaints there.A week later I still had no credit, I called back in. This employee was also polite and I have no complaints with his help. Unfortunately all he could tell me was that he thought the paperwork had been submitted but was unable to see the status. He suggest that I speak to his manager, but his manager had already left for the day.This was not a big deal, I ask for him to leave a note/message and have his manager a call when he had time the next day. The employee said he would print out my file and leave the message. I waited 2 days and received no call from a supervisor.I called my bank and told them what was going on, they credited the money and told me they would take care of the rest.All this because the associate I returned the trailer to(Pick-up day - 5 minutes before posted closing hours), was in a rush to go home and his manager whom he said was unavailable wouldnt help. Im a pretty good judge of character and Im in sincere doubt that he even spoke to his manager when I requested to speak with him.I will probably have to use a U-Haul trailer again in the near future for convince sake, I will never visit this location again.

Great customer service!! They were very understanding when I returned the truck an hour later then forecasted due to traffic. Also, I had one minor issue with the van that they made right on the spot.
I have worked with Uhall many times and love working with them. This location gave me one of the best experiences I ever had with Uhall. Without their help I don’t know if we would’ve been able to finish this move.

Appreciate their flexibility. I had to postpone my move THE DAY OF the move and Gresham UHaul immediately and politely canceled my reservations and charged no cancellation fee. That was unexpected and appreciated.
Originally thought they fixed the problem with my trailer wiring. They said it was fixed and I went home to test it. It didnt work. When I came back in, they seemed to have already known it wasnt totally fixed and told me it was beyond their ability to fix as soon as I walked in the door the second time. I understand that they can only do so much being that they are a moving/rental place, but I felt mislead that the problem was fixed when they clearly knew it wasnt. Its fine if you cant fix it, but tell me that. Dont tell me it is fixed when you know its not.

Was waiting for the storage to open, this lady who worked there came up yelling at my dad for being parked. She asked us to move and so we did however the aggression and vulgarity that was used to do so was completely unnecessary and absolutely uncalled for. The customer service here is nonexistent. The woman who verbally attacked my father was the GM, Michelle. Absolutely foul.
This is a review of using a call center to answer questions. I had a simple wiring question (not a how to but what do you sell question) that no one could answer because I could never get to a technician. In fact I called the Clackamas store and was transferred to a california location that wanted to send me to a victorville store. I live in Happy Valley Oregon. Only about 800 miles away. If I have a technical question give me the option of talking to a technician. If I want to make a reservation than a call center is great. I finally gave up and have taken my business to an RV center.
My first experience with uhaul will be my last.I rented a new 10 foot long truck.It had broke down before I even got over to my new house. So I had to load up my personal car from the uhaul and make multiple trips to be able to finish moving. By the time I was done i was still waiting for roadside assistance, when they finally showed up i still had to drive the truck to back to gresham.When I got there I found out that my 40 dollar quote was 60 now. Keep in mind it was 60 for a broken truck.After all this I called for a refund. I was told that I would get a call from a manager.I got no call. Just an email for a partial refund.I called back and asked to talk to a manager... They were all busy -_-. I explained I needed a full refund or at least a call back. I was told that I get a call back that day or the next. And I got no call. NEVER HIRE UHAUL.
This was and is the worst u-haul ive ever been in and the staff manager included where the most rudest group of people ive ever met.They charged me or tryed to charge me without my approval 230.00 for having a truck 30 paat due.I approved a estimated charge of 57.00.They actually commited a felony by doing 4 differant charges on my card without my permission!They are awful!I will do anything possible to get their jobs.For having the rental from 3p.m today till 7:44p.m tonight it cost me 320.00

They were not able to install the hitch wiring I wanted but were extremely helpful with advice and tried to locate the information I needed to get the job done.

To start I was slapped with undisclosed during reservation 135$ fee and since they reserved me with truck they didnt have I was already to late and out of options. Second, truck was FILTHY! Dog hair everywhere and dog poop under passenger seat! Fast food left overs all over the floor and nasty smell thru the vents. To finish off when it got dark turned out headlight (lowbeam) didnt work.PS: it gets 4 mpg and doesnt have cruise control.I would NEVER deal with uhaul ever again, there are options out there. Budget, penske etc

This is one of the only places in town you can get U-Haul boxes or all of the other places sell you their own boxes at an inflated price. You have everything you need and also a lot of people on staff and were very helpful.

Quick service and the trucks are maintained quite well. We rented three trucks in the past 3 months and had no issues with them or the guys that helped us get on the road.
Amazing service. The young man even offered to inflate my tires after the long trip across the country.
It took three guys to check one uhaul in. I am very disappointed with all uhaul in general. I have used them for work purposes and they can never get information for pick up times, drop off some, and so forth.
They use my card to pay someone elses transaction. I returned my uhaul on 10/31 and 11/1 they came with an additional 91.80 which was no where near my $44 reservation. Its now Nov 21 and I am still dealing with uhaul in order to get my money refunded. The customer service between manager at this location, customer service reps and supervisors are incredibly rude and condescending. This was an error on their part and theyre acting as if Im out of line for this inconvenience. I understand mistakes happen, but fact of the matter is how they have handled this. I will never use uhaul again.Please contact me with any questions.

Due to a known issue with uhauls system I had to have a discrepancy fixed from July of last year. Even though the location was still open nobody could reach them (myself or customer service) so I ended up having to pay out over $200 (in addition to an extra day of truck rental & a freezer full of food that now has no place to go). Customer service, after repeated calls to them & managers closing the case inaccurately as resolved, are refusing to even attempt to make things right. Granted, $70 of the extra costs was for a hotel, however due to their lack of concern to fix a known issue in the computer system, my only other option was to sleep in the grass along the side of the street.
Had such a hassle trying to get a hitch worked on. Got transferred 3 times then hung up on when on hold. When I did decide to just show up I was lectured when I parked next to the Hitches sold and installed sign. They stated customers not allowed in that area. Staff was rude and uninviting, just overall not great service.
People are plenty busy ad there is one person that .is disrespectful to customers. Because they are understaffed doesnt make it ok to be rude. Isnt the customers fault. They need to try harder.
