First visit to Hillcrest last week. They have a great selection and knowledgeable staff - Liz was especially helpful as she showed me around the store! I felt very welcomed, will definitely be back with my family for all of our gear needs! :)
I have come to Hillcrest a number of times on the way to the mountain and back. From a wax to rentals to a pair of goggles, they will take care of you and answer all of your questions and set you up right. Great people doing great work for skiers and snowboarders for years and years. I recommend this place to anyone.Thank you,Nick
I bought my entire ski set here last summer and I’ve gone back a handful of times for waxes and usual maintenance. With every visit I’ve never left unsatisfied. Very friendly staff and they do really good work for a good price! Highly recommend
We’ve been frequenting Hillcrest for about a year now as my sons have been getting into skating. The staff have taken a ton of time to work on their gear, get us setup with new stuff, and teach my boys about skating. We’ve gone to other local shops, but this one is the best. Support local, shop at Hillcrest. You won’t be disappointed!
Always our go to ski place ...I have been looking to upgrade from my first set of atomics that I have owned for ~15 years. (Yikes I know) Finally found my dream skis and boots- the guy was so helpful waking me through my bindings( my first touring set) and answering alll my questions, there were a lot - then for Christmas since we couldn’t be with family my mom bought me new googles and a helmet from them, she was sad when they didn’t offer gift wrapping ( I’m pretty sure my mom did a guilt trip - sorry for that ) BUT she was SOOOO happy when I sent her pictures of the box it made our day so kudos for really going above and beyond this year, best wrapping job ever ! You made our day ! Merry Christmas and we will see y’all soon!
Top notch service! Could have saved a few bucks buying my snowboard bindings online, but glad I didn’t. Had a strap fail and they pulled one off a new set of binding to get me back on the mountain with no down time. Try getting that from an online retailer. Shop local, support local.
Superb customer service! We went in to purchase a pair of skies and boots for my 12 year old and Ryan was knowledgeable, helpful, and answered all of our questions. He showed us different price options, not to mention his relaxed, no-push, sales approach.Excellent customer service!!!
As someone who has worked in a customer service role, I was shocked at how rude the guy at the ski counter was to me yesterday. I had a valid question about how I was charged for renting skis due to the store being closed on Easter Sunday. Before he could even understand my question fully, he was defensive, outright disrespectful, and embarrassing as he was argumentative in front of other witnessing customers and coworker. He argued that he wasnt the one that charged me and that I am wrong. Even if that is so, the way the situation was handled was uncalled for. If you represent the company you should act like you care about who walks through the door and hear customers concerns. In the long term, this company will be losing more business due to their present actions and attitude.
Went in to pick up a board for my daughter and Zach S. was awesome. Made a recommendation for another option that was perfect. Hillcrest is a bit out of the way for us but Zach locked down our future business.
We get all of our snowboarding gear here! The staff is SO very helpful and they have a great selection!
Trent and Dave were SUPER helpful getting us set up with ski boots. Amazing customer service and very patient helping us get the perfect fit.
Stop to rent some gear on the way up to the mountain, only one guy in the rental section and I was going to have to wait a half an hour. There is one other family there and that was it. This is peak season and theres such a limited time based on covid issues. Its always packed on the weekend when they can sell items, but pretty disappointing for an avid fan whos spent a lot of money there over the years whos getting up to the mountain midweek.
Great selection and helpful staff who go above and beyond to find the right options for you. Highly recommend!
Great service. Brooklyn helped get us just the right boot! Thanks so much
These guys have been awesome helping get me back on the mountain after a long time
This is for the online shop. The store sent me the wrong item. The soles are not compatible with my boots. I ordered Vibram soles for Dalbello Alpine Touring Boots, and was sent grip walks that are only compatible with Dalbello Alpine Boots. I am working with the online sales department to ship back the item and get an exchange.
Great staff and great gear. Convenient and on the way to Hood, Meadows, and Bend.
Great customer service !! Highly recommended! Chris and Ben were helping out with my son’s snowboard rental issue ! Thanks...!
Theyre so awesome theyre customer care is second to none outstanding flew in from Texas got me suited up and boards and everything definitely recommend this place
Excellent manager and staff.State of the art ski/board tuning and waxing equipment from Germany.
Honestly, these guys are awesome. I have been stopping through here on my way to Mt Hood multiple times per season to get my skis freshly waxed. They charge significantly less and are quicker than Timberline & Meadows. Seriously.Furthermore, they have always greeted and performed the service with a smile. That’s worth something these days, right?
Just went here to buy 3 pairs of ski boots and 4 goggles during summer. The owner at the counter said that the goggles would be significantly more marked down and the woman helper heard him say that. At the time of check out, after we had paint-penned their names in the Goggles, at the ladies recommendation, the owner decided he didn’t want to discount. He then said he had been distracted by a more important customer. Apparently dropping $1200 on ski gear in summer in an empty store isn’t important enough. I wouldn’t trust this owner with anything. Guy is a total liar and this place isn’t worth your business. We won’t be back.
Just what I wanted, a nice mom and pop with experienced staff who had time to spend with me.
I used to buy all my gear here until they tried to sell me 2 used rubber bands for ski brakes for $10. $10 for 2 of their old rubber bands. Go to Next Adventure.
Excellent customer service, very knowledgeable! Thank you J.P. and Sarindipity 💪💪
Placed an online order on 2/20/2021. The item was never shipped. Sent multiple emails with no response.
Zach who works there is a great guy! He helped me every step of the way through my purchase and made sure i was getting the gear that was right for me and wasn’t trying to just push a sale on me. He even kept a positive attitude after my family kept bugging him for additional favors and questions and he was glad to assist! Great customer service.
Always the place to get all my gear! Great selection, friendly & knowledgeable staff, and frequent sales & markdowns. Usually my first ski shop recommendation to people on the west side of My Good.
Used to be my favorite store to go for Amy needs for skiing but unfortunately now they have a lot of young kids that don’t have much knowledge and they just simply were rude and not nice no smile very stressful that definitely miss the old store
Its one of the worst stores in the Portland, they charged us extra 30 for a old board.
Always the place to get all my gear! Great selection, friendly & knowledgeable staff, and frequent sales & markdowns. Usually my first ski shop recommendation to people on the westside of My Good.
My son rented a set of skis, boots and poles at Hillcrest back in November for the whole season. The Staff in the store was knowledgeable and helpful and the equipment we rented did its job for the whole season (no issues at all). When we returned the equipment, my son had lost the set of poles... (no comments). Initially the store was going to charge us, what I thought it was too much for a rental pair of poles, but after checking it with the management team, the final charge was actually very reasonable. We are planning to rent again next year!
Love this place. Everytime I go on have questions about gear. The team here is super knowledgeable and willing to help. I have bought goggles, snowboard binding and gotten my ski boots tweaked and every time they were awesome. I am sure you maybe could find stuff slightly cheaper online but I feel it is so worth it to pay for the knowledge they have! Love it will for sure be back.
Best ever ski shop. These guys and gals know there stuff when it comes to skiing. Prices are very competitive and service is fantastic.
I love this store. If youre looking for cheap gear for one or two days on the mountain this isnt your place. If youre looking for the best equipment you can buy that will last for years, shop here. They carry top of the line gear at competative prices. Great store for serious snow enthusiasts.
Best experience I have had in any ski shop, hands down. The staff were friendly and knowledgable, and very patient with all my questions and quirks. I came in with a specific budget for boots and bindings, and they worked closely with me to really get me the best value for my dollar, and better gear than I was expecting.I actually ended up spending a bit less than I had budgeted for when selections were made and decided to buy some other gear I needed as well, then brought my skis for mounting and tuning. They were heavily damaged and had multiple deep gouges, one right along an edge, and the edges were dull and rusted. They repaired the base so perfectly I cant see where the damage was, sorted out the edges nicely, and even went above and beyond by clamping and gluing the pieces of top card back down that were flapping loose in several places. After they generously extended a veteran discount I actually spent a bit more than intended but got so much more then I thought I ever would for the price. They all remembered me and our conversations when I came back days later, which is unusual these days, and made me feel right at home here. I will definitely be coming back many times!
Great staff very helpful
Very nice place! I went here specifically to get some things to go with the long board that I bought for my brother for his birthday. The guy that helped me out was AWESOME!! He explained everything to me and what were the pros and cons of each thing I needed to purchase. I dont know a lot about skate boarding materials but at this place that doesnt really matter because the guys that work there are so helpful. I will come back here again anytime!
This is the best place to purchase or rent your ski and snowboard equipment from. I purchased my skis from here about a year ago after having a bad experience at Mt Bachelor rental shop. John at Hillcrest helped me get into the correct skis and the correct size boots. Im still learning but have excellent equipment to learn on and enjoy. Thanks Hillcrest for having great people, support and a good variety of equipment.
Supreme service. All the right ski gear, at all the right prices. Friendly and helpful.
Trent and Lee were great! Helped my friend get a random binding issue fixed. Opened a smidge early as we were headed up to the mountain all with smiles on their faces! $7 waxes, yes! And $40 season waxes, more yes! Thanks guys!!!!! Customer service off the charts!
Hillcrest is a great snowboard and ski shop that has (most of the time) the right gear for your mountain fun. The staff are up-to-date on the latest technology in the gear and are very helpful. Will buy from them again.
My favorite shop around, great selection and location. Cheapest rentals I could find. Awesome discounts and sales when they have them. Their crew is friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this shop
Just walked out of Hillcrest, terrible customer service. We asked a blond young man to try on snow boots and he replied with “yeah I’m with another customer but I’ll ummmm...” and didn’t even finish the sentence before walking away. We still waited for another few minutes and still didn’t get any help. My boyfriend loved this store and now we’re definitely not coming back.
Ive been getting my snowboarding gear there since 1998. If they dont have it they can order it. Highly recommended.
I have been here a couple of times now and all I can say is that I have had the best shopping experience when coming here. I first came in to buy a pair of boots and was instantly greeted and helped. Found a pair that I loved quickly and after the purchase they offered to wax my board. A few days later I head out to mt hood to learn how to snowboard and after a few runs I fell and broke my right binding. I head back to hillcrest and ask if there’s anyway I can fix them. They tell me that the brand I had actually comes on warranty so they call for me and had a replacement sent to the store to pick up and rented me a different pair while the replacement binding was in transit. My favorite place to shop by far!
Very friendly staff! Helped me find exactly what I needed in a new ski boot that I was not able to do online. Now I can finally be able to ski in comfortable boots. Great store, go there for your skiiing needs.
Great ski shop. Just bought a gortex spider ski coat. Ive been shopping her for years.
Took my daughter in to buy ski setup along with upgrading my own ski setup and had the pleasure to work personally with the owner and I will tell you that hes a man that cares about the client with much professionalism along with taking the time to make sure your fitted with the right equipment for whatever you may be attacking on the mountain and his pricing is very fair making the exceptional service a bonus I will recommend this place over any Ski Shop
Super friendly staff
Lots of equipment and very knowledgeable help to find what I needed.
I purchased a pair of ski poles off Amazon from this business at the beginning of December. They came several days later than the two day shipping. Since they came later than the first day of skiing I returned and shipped them back on the 7th of December and am still waiting for my refund to be given from this business...
This is a great stop for all things snowboarding (or skateboarding). Its located on the outskirts of Gresham, before the highway to Mt. Hood. Its a large store that offers a lot of equipment and clothes that fit the outdoor sports lifestyle. The staff is friendly and down to earth. Theyll give you advice if you need it, yet wont shove it down your throat either. Easy to talk to.The products may be a little high priced, but consider this place a specialty store. They survive off the gear required to snowboard so expect bargains to be rare. They also offer state park passes, which is a great thing to have as a NorthWesterner.Give this place a shot if your curious.
The sales/rental people are nice and knowledgeable. I’ve had great experiences with their ski rentals. And I buy all of ski equipment here!!! I love this place!
Always helpful and friendly. Thanks for making her annual trip so awesome.
Friendly staff, Trent was super helpful and helped my son find and firemold a boot quickly and effectively. Only problem is I couldnt give him 6 stars.
I think they have good selection of gear.
Staff goes out of its way to get you set upThanks for the base cleaner.
Great shop, super helpful and employees are very kind.
Dont waste ur time anywhere else! This place always has what i need, when i need it. Great prices, knowledgeable staff, and they always go above and beyond to make sure i get a good deal. Shout out to the GM, Trent, for having the best customer service in Gresham.
Probably the best traditional ski shop in town. They spent the time to make sure I had the right boot and fit.
Great staff, pricing and selection. Impressed by this family owned store in Gresham, I appreciate not going into town to visit a corporate retailer.
It was nice to have someone working there check on me to help me find stuff in the price range I was looking for.
I was looking to rent a wakeboard for a day and couldnt seem to find one without going hoirs away. I talled to Lee at Hillcrest and he went out of his way to find me one even looking at competitors shops! He found one at the shop (brand new) and got me hooked up! Customer sevice exceeded expectation. The whole process went seamless and I will definitely be back!
Bought a new pair of skis and bindings here. Staff were helpful and they had the bindings mounted before scheduled time. Good selection and good service!
Hillscrest is awesome! The staff is super helpful and will go above and beyond to make you happy and enjoy whatever sport takes you into their shop. I bought a pair of snowboard boots from a DIFFERENT STORE last season and they did not function properly. The other store would not return them. I talked to a sale associate at Hillcrest and he was willing to help me set up a warranty replacement. They did need to help, I didnt buy from them. BUT now I will always shop at hillcrest. It is right on the way to the mountain and they have everything you would need.
Rented a snowboard. The price was decent. There were some minor scratches on the bottom when I returned it. That is to be expected. The guy who took it back made me pay $30 to repair said scratches. He said there were base shots, which there definitely were not. Ive never had any other place charge me repairs on rental gear. They also sold me some parking pass for the mountain which was completely unnecessary.
Great experience. Staff was friendly, I really like this shop.
Amazing staff. Knowledgeable and patient. Bought two pairs of boots here a year ago and Love them.
Great selection and good prices. Great place to rent equipment on your way up to the mountain. Friendly staff.
They are always very helpful. Love this store
I got a snowboard here and the staff were very helpful, super knowledgeable and had helpful experience to give me tips
These guys rock!
Hilcrest has been a Gresham staple for as long as I can remember, Ive been shopping at Hillcrest for over 25 years. They have the best rental gear from Portland to Mt Hood. all the employees are great people, very knowledgeable and curteous. It is the only place I rent gear for my son. They always have a great selection of the latest ski and snowboard equipment for sale as well as a huge clothing, shoe and sunglass selection. If you are on the way up to good stop in and check them out!
Really quick and really helpful.
The people working there are very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable
Super helpful staff! Always friendly and knowledgeable.
Friendly and helpful staff, great selection for their limited space.
Great shop. knowledgeable staff and good hot wax jobs
I dont know where this hate for Hillcrest is coming from, geez people. They mounted my bindings pretty cheap and even waxed them up for no reason other than they are nice people. I mean yeah, the prices are stellar, but they sure as hell arent a rip off. And btw, if your equipment breaks and has a warranty issue, call the company that made the equipment. Hillcrest just sell the stuff, thats how most local businesses work. As far as problems with arrogance, I havent seen it, but as a whole the team isnt super knowledgeable about the equipment, so if you want a comparison it can take a while for the right guy to show up for your questions, like when I was asking about goggle or glove comparisons, there wasnt much knowledge there. But I mean, they only get paid so much, dont expect the moon. Overall, when it comes to ski equipment, these guys and Next Adventure are my top in-store Portland picks (sorry Evo).
Dont ever go here every thing is overpriced. I paid $39 to get my skis waxed and edged and the wax look almost no different they left huge scratches in the wax and didnt bother to brush the finish. They also left most of the rust in the edges inspecifically asked to have removed. All the employees are more interested with being on their phones than helping you.
Hillcrest is a ripoff, not only are they over priced but they treat there customers like garbage. After spending well over $2000 at there store they wouldnt even warranty manufacturer damage when the product was only used twice. The staff is self-centered and arrogant, they could care less about you or your problems.
Good shop with talented crew. When. You have a problem with your new boots they will take care if it!
Yes, the staff is knowledgeable but can also be condescending due to their god-like skiing abilities . They are laid-back about sales, but I always seem to run into so much ego when I shop there.
Good selection, very expensive. Kayak rental is good price though.
The customer service was great i got my rental skis there and the workers were gr8
Had a good experience getting fit for boots and skis by Cole.
I bought a brand new pair of boots didnt even use them for more than four hours and something broke. They wouldnt warranty them
Nice stuff, average prices, hard to get help with stuff sometimes
Of all the board shops ive been to hillcrest is the most relaxed. The sales staff dont hound you but are right there when you need advice. They have also on multiple occasions helped me with warranty claims even giving me free boot rentals when i had to send mine in mid season. By far the best place to gear up for the winter!
Friendly, helpful staff and well stocked even late season. Prices are high compared to some of their competitors.
They can take care of your ski and snowboard needs
Monica was a great help tonight!! 11.10.18
Really great selection, and good service!
Great store, staff very friendly!!
Replaced the fin on a ski here, and the staff was amazing.
Very helpful staff
Quality selection, comparable prices, would be 5 stars but the tech shop is highly understaffed dont be surprised to wait 30 minutes just to hand off your gear for technical services (ie waxing, edging, repairs etc).
Great ski boot fitting
