LA Fitness in Gresham is a great location and has a lot to offer at a reasonable price. I especially enjoy the group fitness classes offered, plus the option of a buddy pass. The gym is usually always clean, the equipment is in good working order and the staff and guests are decent folks. Overall, I am very satisfied with my decision to join and with LA Fitness as a company.
I used the free pass to try their pool. Their pool is super nice and quiet. I find it really annoying that they run like a car dealership though and won’t stop calling you and making up pretend deals to get you to sign-up. SE Portland location had more honest staff that did not make up “new” deals that were not new. I don’t know how the system works but they even called me after I signed up for multi club membership at the other location. Despite this, I signed up because their pool is way nicer than 24 fitnesses. But you should never be pressured into a contract. This should not be a thing gyms do. It is not only their fault all gyms do it but they do it even more so. I don’t appreciate being lied to.
Love it here ❤️ it is so nice and family friendly my whole family goes here and we love it
No complaints, awesome weight machines, little or no time to wait. Just opened up their lap pool! Also a sauna and tanning beds. Very reasonable rates!
Its a workout! The front desk is great
A very nice clean gym!
Really nice gym but management is horrible + rude along with the attitudes of the employees working. not good customer service at all, esp this location and i’ve been to multiple. Also total rip off to pay for all the amentities which you can’t even use.
I attend the Yoga classes and they seem to have the best instructor I have ever had. Jane explains the purpose of all the moves and mixes up her routines. She also plays nice gentle music, not the loud rock music like other gyms I have gone to. The gym is clean and seem to be cleaning all the time. I havent used the equipment yet.
Clean, updated, great place over all
Nice gym with great amenities but disappointed with the service
Friendly-ish staff. Idk if people who work at a gym are way too into themselves but thats the feel you get from the staff at this location. No greetings at all. Ehhh
This facility does not enforce the mask rule and even some of their staff doesn’t wear their masks. There are signs around the gym that say they are required but no one seems to pay no mind to them. Definitely not a safe place to be during a pandemic when their own staff aren’t following their own rules.
Its a great place to workout and swim.
They have great equipments
Very nice stage. Also informational.
Great access to swimming pool and hot tub. They also have sauna which you access through the locker rooms. Well kept and professional staff and polite clientele. I use the treadmill, elliptical and weight lifting equipment. All clean and in good repair.
Good facility, always clean and neat, good staff that are always smiling and friendly.. Prices are good as well! love to come here for my trainings
Love going here. There are so many free classes offered here (classes included with your membership). I usually attend the yoga classes which have been so great for my core and balance!I always felt welcome here, a nice warm welcome with a smile from the people at the front. The equipment is well maintained as well. When I had an issue with a machine I found an attendant, notified them of the issue, and sure enough next time I came in it was taken care of.Thanks for being awesome!
I go here alot its nice
Pretty great gym actually! The remodel made it great. 4 out of 5 because its hard to cancel and the remodel took far too long.
Friendly, helpful staff and a clean, pleasant environment with tons of amenities. Full complement of machines and weights, heavy bags, dance/ yoga rooms, saltwater pool and hot tub, dry sauna, full schedule of classes, and personal training available. A little on the pricey side, but totally worth it.
The facility is large with a great variety of equipment. The staff handle issues promptly and are generally nice. Its certain members mostly men that are the problem. Never at any gym before have I had a fellow member come up to me insulting my lifting techniques or telling me I put things back in the wrong place. Such arrogance but then again its Gresham. This aint Lake Oswego and many of the clientele are not exactly sophisticated. So what can I expect I guess.....right?
Tried to get a month to month and the person at the counter said there was nobody there who could help, that their sales person was at lunch and took my number. No offer of a workout or expected time the sales person would be back. Bad service.
Great gym. Facility is well maintained and even during busy hours Im able to complete a full workout.
I have been a member at this gym for several years now. They just recently did a remodel and it looks sharp. Equipment has been well kept and the place is always clean. Locker rooms are comfortable and have bathrooms and showers separate from lockers and changing areas. There are classes, general exercise equipment, free weight area, bikes and treadmills. Personal training is available also.
I love this gym. Mark the trainer hooked me and my wife up with a sick routine and motivation to take with us. Highly recommended, hope to see you there
Club is OK and that seems to be my overall evaluation. Im an early morning gymer so I dont know what afternoon is like. I have also been a member since the club was built.1. Staff and custodians. Awesome and friendly. This hasnt been typical but they must have made changes in the last year because everyone working is friendly, even at 5:30am. 5*s2. Corporate seems out of touch with members. In the past they have tried appreciation days with giveaways, refer a friend incentives, or holiday hours. They dont seem to work with regulars in mind. I am there because I have an extremely inexpensive membership. 1*3. Club is well maintained and seems good for workouts at least early in morning. Ive been tempted to switch to another gym but I have developed friendships here and they have a good pool, sauna, and hot tub when they work.
Love going here and I come to this gym 6 days a week. Not too busy in the morning except Sunday. Please upgrade your cardio equipment, theyre outdated comparing to other gyms. Also, we need bumper plates for squat racks.
Nice staff, good amenities, and overall great place to workout
The facility is really nice for what you pay and the workers are generally very nice. Why 3 stars? It is so busy here now sometimes you have to change to a different workout because you cant find a open spot for dumbells or a bench, even the Jacuzzi was so packed the other night we just said forget it.
Love the pool !
Fairly priced considering all the equipment and activities available. Very spacious. A lot to do, from swimming, basketball, racquetball, cycling, cardio, weight lifting and punching bags for boxing. There is also a Jacuzzi in the swimming pool room and a sauna in each locker room. A current member.
Very clean and they have good equipment. My son enjoys the kids club and I dont pay too much extra for that. Some of the staff dont have Great customer service skills and of course the sales reps are sharks but overall Im happy with my membership. They have assisted me many times in a courteous manner.
Looking forward to going back
Nice open layout, and it has a pool, which some locations do not. The only draw for me is the racquetball courts. The problem is the sales force. I have renewed my membership at LA Fitness for many years, yet every year salespersons call me repeatedly trying to get me to renew early, and in their zeal for the commission, they have offered me bonuses which turned out later to be other than what was promised. This past summer, a friend of mine had to pay $50 for a one month membership just to come work out with me because LA Fitness refused to honor the two-week passes I was given as an incentive to renew early last year.
Ive been to a handful of locations around the country, and this location by far is the worst! Im giving it 2 stars, because the equipment and set-up of the facility is great. The employees, however, are not. Im never greeted when I walk in the door, even if theyre not helping others, the trainer I worked out with wasnt knowledgeable about anything, but what got me to write this review is how the trainer coordinator treated me. I dont use my sessions since moving to this area (hence bad trainer), so tried canceling my plan to cut back on unnecessary costs. She was extremely rude the second I walked up, and was talking down to me. At one point, she even said if youre really in dire need of 35 dollars, than I guess this is what we can do for you. Ive never been treated the way she treated me! Major attitude the whole time! Luckily, I will be moving away, so wont have to continue going to this location much longer! If it wasnt for that, Id cancel my membership all together! Im very disappointed with their attitudes here. Ive been a member of LA Fitness for over 4 years now, and have never had a negative experience until going to this location. Unfortunately, this is the only one near me, so would never return if I had a different option! And I didnt want to judge based off of a couple rude employees, but have been going to this club since November, and I can honestly say there has only been 1 friendly employee here. So disappointed
The new layout post-remodel is decent, albeit a little confusing when you try to understand the logic behind some of the machine placement at first. Employees are friendly for the most part and seem to be willing to help but some of the trainers are very questionable. Even when it’s crowded, you can still get a good workout in, unlike the SE location. Most people know to not hog a machine and will let you get in for a set when need be.
Theyve been updating this gym in the past year, so its a much better experience than a couple of years ago. The locker/ bathroom area is tiled and cleaner now. Any negative issues would be the same at any L.A. fitness, like a lack of floor space to stretch etc. Due to premium member space taking it over and roping it off.
Great gym, great prices, nice and open, not usually too crowded when I go at night.
Not safe. This gym is not enforcing the requirement to wear a mask indoors, and most employees aren’t wearing masks either, as stated policy. I saw people taking down signs saying equipment was not in use, and only two hand sanitizing stations downstairs. Not worth the risk.
Its a good club with a BAD business ethic. Their facilities are clean and convenient, as long as you pay your dues. Heaven forbid if you should try to cancel. They wont do it in person. They wont do it online. They force you to snail mail a form in that they will adamantly claim they never received, over and over. Once your account goes unpaid, for any length of time, youre in their system and you will receive collection calls from EVERY LA Fitness across the country. Some of their managers will try to pressure you into temporarily restore your membership and others will tell you that they will update your account but thats only in their local computer. Youll still continue to receive collections calls, to the tune of dozens per day. Its bad business, bad marketing and BAD ETHICS. If you plan on being a member for life, good for you. If you ever hope to get free, beware the Pandoras Box.
You get what you pay for I use this gym for mainly cardio and do strength training somewhere else but overall really great place love the free classes.Doesnt have the everyone is staring at you feel at all.
Great gym
Love this gym
I came here because Im in a wheelchair. And there is an elevator to the second floor. The last place I was at had no elevator to the second floor. Everyone is very nice. I take their silver sneakers classes.
I love the fact that they have everything from a pool to racquetball and everything in between
Been going for about 4 months. The place is clean and I enjoy my time there. I take yoga classes, swim, hot tub, sauna, weights, and punching bags. I especially like the salt water in the pool and hot tub. Guess what, the hot tub is actually hot. Really helps with my tendinitis. Only complaint I have is no wifi.
Even one star is too much for their untrained, rude and impolite customer service staff. They don’t know that every guest who enters their facility potentially can be a future customer. They must go and learn member service from MUV
Good overall gym, not the biggest or most luxurious, but enough equipment to go around and the staff doesnt hassle or pressure for personal training or other add on items. Prices are good for what you get, $25. More expensive than say crunch, but you get a basketball court, racquetball, a pool and a good kids club. There are a lot of group classes to attend too.
Good gym with a good veriety of equipment. Staff is nice and they maintain the gear well. Clean locker room, although the floor would be better maintained if it were tile or a rubber surface. Pool area is often very warm, (not well suited for training) catering to slow inactive walkers then swimming. Other than that, what you put into it, is what you will receive out of it.
Very clean, great an plentiful equipment and friendly staff.
By far the cleanest and most organized LA fitness Ive been to and I travel all over the country so Ive seen quite a few. I also work out first thing in the morning so no ide what the evening looks like.
Great equipment, clean and friendly.
Good luck canceling your membership, needs a manager to approve?? Well you didn’t need one when I paid $150 to sign up did you.P.S. there Monday threw Friday 9-5 and if your like me and Work 12 hours a day that doesn’t workPlace is a joke. Don’t waste your time or money
LA Fitness does a consistently quality job - I go to clubs around the country, LA Fotnesd always above average - this location is clean - well-staffed - highly recommended
Great gym, need new cardio equipment. I go here 5 days a week, enjoy the people and the atmosphere, it would be nice if they upgrade the treadmills and ellipticals.
It started good, they were nice, but when I wanted to cancel my membership lots of weird things happened, they said you already paid the monthly payment ( 20 hours ago ) and we cant decline it, so I have to go there for 2 more months I have already paid for even if I have no time to work out ( they make you pay for first and last month when you sign up, you have no choice about that). That made me feel like they want money more than customers, when I asked about freezing my account they said I have to pay $10 a month even if I wont go, well thats interesting.. Its not just about money, it is their system that is not good enough.customer service should be way better since they have a lot of members!
Go bro
They were deceptive. They implied that i could bring my assistant for free then when i got there, an agent tried to strong arm me into a 40 dollar a month contract. We smiled and left. No thank you.
Let me know when it open with no virus 😷
Very unfriendly staff, always give me attitude, have guest privileges, removed everyone off my guest list, then gave me attitude when I tried to bring a guest.Do not recommend going to this gym. Many better options out there.
Well maintained facility but there is not much customer service.6/10 over all.
I love going to LA fitness, people are friendly, and make you feel welcome... I look forward to going every day Ive made many new friends...
I really enjoy LA Fitness it’s clean friendly people and is really disabled friendly I’m in wheelchair and there are 2 lift chairs that transport me in to the pool and hot tub. I recommend LA fitness I give it five stars.
Im reading the previous reviews and Im guessing management took the hint that they need to step it up? I use to be a member here about 5 years ago. I had no issue signing back up and they didnt treat me any different because I was a former member. Ive been a member for one month and so far I like it and havent experienced the issues others have complained about in the past reviews. The locker rooms (womens at least) smell clean and nothing seems to be broken. I have yet to see a broken piece of equipment and not be greeted when I come in. Overall, its a clean & friendly environment & I feel that theyve improved on most of the things complained about on here.I was going to give it 4 stars but I cant blame LA Fitness for the tools that go there. I dont recommend going during the after-work hours (5ish oclock aka Tool Time.) I will never go at that hour EVER. I will stick to coming at 6am when all the doctors and serious people come. But that is just my preference. Im an introvert and people arent my favorite. Two thumbs up for Council Dr. LA Fitness!
Theyve sold out this gym to MediCare. Forget trying to workout from 6 to 10 AM. While they were quick to take all the Silver Sneaker $, they didnt bother to show any of those folks how to work out, how to use the equipment, or gym etiquette
The quality of clientele has really dropped since they opened. Lots of ghetto types now and the Russian guys are really cheezy and aggressive with women patrons. They have a problem getting a clue you have no interest in them and to leave you alone. And whats with them posing in mirrors including the skinny ones and never re-racking plates! They expect their mommies to do it?
Too crowded compared to other locations.
Love it...clean..and the best gear....my wife and I tried crunch...this is way better.
This will be day 12 of the sauna not working.....I guess LA Fitness saves a lot of money by not having it in operation for 18 hours daily! In addition, they save a lot of money by opening late on weekends and holidays! A great business....they make money by being closed and not having equipment in operation! I need to own one of these franchises...I finally found a business to be in and make money while being closed and not having the equipment available to the members!
Gym gets really muggy in peak hours could use some fans moving the air or better ac or maybe the ac is scheduled for service...sauna is schedule for service not sure when that will be fixed....was trying to bring a friend with me to lift so he could check it out but i guess you need to have an appointment for something like that ???
The best gym ever great memories on the basketball court. Great community.
Love my gym when I go
The staff is friendly and helpful. The equipment is well maintained and the womans locker room is always clean. I love this gym!
Great for everything as far as work out. Front desk is really friendly.
Great gym. Love the salt water.
Ive been to a lot of gyms and worked at a few over the years. In the scheme of things, this is a very good gym. There is nothing to not like about it that wasnt temporary, like the sauna or vacuuming. I am sort of surprised at the shallowness of reviewers who get upset over one thing and then go blow up the gym online. Like throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Thats why most of the reviews are one star or five. But I have been going to gyms since they became a thing in the 80s and this one is quite good. Ive been to 5 in the Portland area and this one is the best, so I stayed.
Horrible customer service. I was on my trial considering to actually get a membership. But then there was a guy named ron. On 3/3/17. I was there and the gym closed at 10. I happened to still be in the locker room getting ready 5 min after 10. But he started yelling at me saying they closed and i should of been out before 10 then threatening to call the cops. Common who does that. No membership for me. What kind of customer service is that
Alway clean, pleasant to do work out, the only thing I’m concerned is no shower curtain.
Great place to workout. Equipment is always clean and working.
One if the best gym out there.
Whats the point of having a free pass if youre going to insult people for trying to use it? A friend put me on her guest list and I signed up for the pass. The guy at the counter stood there with his hands in his pockets and told me he couldnt find my name in the system. He said people had been abusing the passes during summer (it is now January) so I couldnt use it. He then offered to sell me a day pass for $15. My sister-in-law came in with the same pass 10 minutes later (shes white, Im not--maybe something maybe nothing) and they immediately found her name and gave her the free entry. We share a last name and it is not at all common. This would be a zero star review if that were possible.
Ive been a member for years now and the thing that really annoys me is that o hardly get to work out since daycare is always full. I pay the monthly fee and its rare that i can get in with my work schedule. It annoys me that i keep paying yet i cant go. Just now I went in and they said daycare was full... I turned around and left and as soon as i got in my car they took a kid. So that really pissed me off. Im disappointed. So if you need child care good luck with trying to get a spot.
Signed up for LA Fitness about three weeks ago and so far it is a great clean place to work out. Clean air, clean machines, clear changing areas, clean showers, and very nice and clean. Professional staff.
I was calling to ask questions about child access and before I could ask another question I was hung up on. I called back and spoke with the manager and he was short with me and making every excuse why they wouldnt hang up on me when they did so I must have been lining. With leadership like this Im not surprised why the sales people act they way they do cuz it comes from the top the same way. Its sad in this day and age that customer service is so poor but the nice thing is there are plenty of gyms for me to do business with that will at least act like they appreciate my business
Nice place to work out. Equipment is clean and well taken care of.
DO NOT get a membership here. Janitor by the name of Ron started barking at me and my brother for still being in the gym 5 min after closing time. Very very disrespectful. He was cussing us out and threatened to call the cops for trespassing? Currently on a trial right now and WILL NOT get a membership there. Matter of fact he yelled that they didnt need us there and to not come back. Never seen customer service this horrible.
Just bought a membership after being taught how to use the machines by Dave during my trial period. He was very knowledgeable and seemed eager to help.
Pretty decent usually clean bathrooms, good employees 4-5 stars
Great for working out, just avoid busy crowded times and youre bound to enjoy it more.
Beautiful facility, great staff and lots of parking.
Wanting my sister to be a gym going since my mother has recently been severely ill. Was completely disrespected and was told that Id have to pay more money, and lose all guest privileges. So in other words, I have to pay more and lose bringing 4 guests just for wanting my sister to attend. For somebody thats been an LA Fitness member for over 3+ years this isnt quite the solution I was hoping for.We have terminated our membership and I highly suggest people rethink their memberships. Spoke with a completely rude district manager (Luke) and hopefully they readjust their service and focus much more on the LTV of their members.Weve switched our service to 24 and theyve actually given us much better rates! Super excited and was exposed to true service.
Decent gym but lots of room for improvement. When I joined 18 months ago I was told Wifi would be coming soon with their new upgrade. Upgrade came and went and no WiFi.Showers and pool area could afford to be a little cleaner. Women could stop taking selfies, talking on the phone, taking other photos in the locker room (especially given the much larger legal issue LA Fitness had in California last year...)And for the love of Pete, enforce members to stop dropping weights! Its not good for the lifter, its not good for the weights, youre lifting too much if you cant control their return to a rest position.
Newer building, lots of equipment, and seems popular.
It sucks that they close so early Saturday!! 8 pm are serious?? The management needs to be more nice!
Way to overcrowded and unclean. Staff is also overworked and underpaid.
Weekend hours are the worst there are but theres just nothing else close to work and home. Gym is overall well kept up and seems less busy than other locations
I wanted to cancel my membership because I just purchased some home gym equipment so I called LA Fitness. The employee told me that I could recieve an email and send in a cancelation notice but it would be faster if I just came in, even though it would be a week until I was able to stop by. Two days after I canceled my account I got charged for another month and went back in the gym and spoke to the manager, Sean. Sean said I was still charged because I didnt cancel 5 days before my charge date and there was nothing he could do. When I explained what the other employee told me he said it was inaccurate information but still refused to refund my money. I have never had good customer service here and I will NEVER be back. Go to Crunch if you want a gym. I only switched because of my fiance and Crunch was cheaper, more fitness classes available, and awesome customer service.
Go every Tues. and Thurs. for for and trim for seniors. Recommend it.
