I truly trust this vet to provide the best care for my cats. Dr. Hughes is caring, seems to have a bond with animals and shows a lot of concern for his patients (I am referring to the cats and dogs) as it should be. The staff is responsive, caring and knowledgeable. I have not had that overall experience with other pet hospitals.

Wow. After years of loyalty, they now cant be bothered with two dog emergencies? And the cat tech is SO horrible during my cats death? Horrendous. Do you even care? Bad job.

I’m a new client and they got me in really fast (think I got lucky cause places don’t get you in that fast right now) to look at my kitty. He was recently neutered at Banfeild in Gresham, where they butchered my cats surgery, leaving him bleeding for days and dowsing his genitals in glue. The office staff were extremely nice and understanding, here at Dogwood. The doctor was right to the point and honest. They removed the glue glob off of him and gave him some antibiotics for the infection he now has. They even cleaned his cone that had blood and stuff on it, that he wouldn’t let me clean without flaring all over the place. They said he was a good boi where as Banfeild made me purchase Gabapentin for them to even look at him appropriately, which he obviously didn’t need. My cat was terrified to be put back in the crate and screamed all the way there just terrified, probably because he thought he was going back to Banfeild, but on the way home after his appointment with Dogwood, he was very relaxed and not screaming at all. Over all, an Amazing experience for both me and my Kitty. Hopefully we can get my little guy feeling better.

I gave a 2 because the staff seemed nice. I was very unimpressed with the doctor though. This was our first visit with our puppy, and I realize things are a bit different right now, so we were unable to go in with him. The receptionist was nice, but when the doctor called with our consultation he seemed bothered that he had to call. The conversation lasted about a minute tops! I was in the veterinary industry for many years, and know that most appointments are at least a half hour, and the veterinarian is there to answer your questions. My pup was in there for maybe 20 minutes, and 10 of those minutes was them getting my payment and receipt ready. No after visit summery was given, no weight on my pup, nothing about when he should come back! Just a printout of what I paid for. I won’t be back. I like to have a relationship with my veterinarian, even if it has to be over the phone right now. This guy wasn’t interested in establishing that.

Customer service experience upon calling for information was unpleasant. Not accepting new patients is completely understandable, however, it would still be appreciated if one could call for information without being cut off and spoken to rudely.

I have a kitty who is less than social and can be a major handful. I as worried this would be an issue but the staff here are amazing. He was so well taken care of and helped him fell better from his fleas as well as showing much more social and healthy behavior. I love this place/team!!

Gresham Animal Hospitals receptionist, Peggy, was unable to locate one of my cats records even though I had the receipt. So, I brought both kitties to Dogwood. I LOVE this vet. First off, the receptionist is fabulous and everyone is super caring of your fur babies. Dr. Hughs is very thorough, knowledgeable and nice. I highly recommend Dogwood Pet Hospital for your veterinarian needs.

These wonderful pet people have helped me care for my kitties for the last 20+ years. They are caring, committed, and experienced. I wouldnt take my kitty babies anywhere else. When I first moved to the Portland area, I searched for a place like the vet I used to have. I sure didnt think I would find it, but Dogwood is it. You can tell the moment you walk in how much they love animals! I love all the alternative choices I have in treatment at Dogwood.

The staff here truly love to care for animals. They have cared for my familys pets for a few years now and we will continue to trust and refer to DPH for our pet needs for years to come. Everyone is really nice here and the care we received for our two cats was of the highest quality. We had a long term issue with one of our cats that we werent able to solve with other vets. After some good advice from the vets here they were able to solve our issue and with a very affordable common sense solution as well. Definitely recommend.

What an amazing experience we have had! We had to put down our beloved Maggee last Friday. This is never an easy process or decision but Dogwood made this experience bearable by their immense compassion. I am forever thankful to you for being there for us. We love this animal hospital! Weve been bringing our pets here for 13 years.Their services include the traditional veterinary medicine and wholistic medicine. They use every tool to keep pets healthy - nutrition, acupuncture, massage, laser, and Chinese herbal medicine.Boarding is also available. Our pets have enjoyed their hospitality often. Such a loving and compassionate group of staff and doctors. They handle the food and check ups for our three cats and were so wonderful when we had to put a sick kitty down. So, so compassionate and understanding! As long as I have pets, we will go there. And they help with County registration renewal.

I absolutely love this office! I wouldnt dream of taking my girl anywhere else! First off! This office has the BEST receptionist! He is so kind and packed full on advice and information. He shared some interesting information about grain free dog food and the side effects its been shown to have on the heart! I was shook! Thats all my dog eats (due to what I thought was allergies). Dogwood Pet Hospital offers a clean, helpful and patient office and staff. Daisy May (my 8yr dog) was seen on 5/03 for skin irritation. She was abused before she found her forever home with me so shes scared of almost everything. I had to sit on the office floor (AMAZED how clean it was!) with her. Once the Vet entered the room, after waiting MAYBE 5 minutes he asked a lot of questions to help with the diagnosis. Once he was done he began the physical exam. I was worried I was going to have to put her on the table but he saw she was stressed and he ALSO sat on the ground! Which made the whole thing so much EASIER! My dog also hates when I mess with her toes or try to clip her nails. More often then not Im only able to clip 3 or 4 nails at a time. Well, the amazing staff was able to GRIND her nails!! I about hit the floor! My dog would never let me get close to her with the drill! The receptionist went back to see if they needed any help (which they didnt) so he snapped a PICTURE of her and promptly showed it to my daughter and I! He knew we where a tad bit nervous because due to the abuse my dog has sustained in the past she snaps on occasion. She doesnt bite but she lets you know she doesnt like what your doing (she did have the cutest, someone save me look on her face in the picture tho😋) Ill never go anywhere else!

We take our dog and cat to this vet clinic and have been so pleased with the service provided by the staff at Dogwood. Their rates are very reasonable and the doctors & nurses are very gentle and kind to the animals. I would highly recommend them to any pet owner in the area.

The staff and vet were very nice. The vet was kind and caring. She helped put my dog at ease about being at the vet for her shot.We didnt have to wait long at all to be seen. I recommend them when ever asked about a good place to take your pet for check ups or problems.

Switched vets a year ago and have never regretted it. My normal doctor is Dr Hughes but I’ve had great experiences with a few others as well. Highly recommend.

Awesome thoughtful and thorough service. We took our 4 month old German Shepherd to Dogwood because she was having seizures. The doctors immediately knew something was wrong with her heart. They ran some tests and one of the vets called us with options and referred us to a cardiologist. Sadly, on the day of the cardiologist appointment, our puppy suddenly died while out for a walk.We are grateful for the vets at Dogwood who were knowledgeable And thoughtful when communicating with us.We now have two healthy German Shepherd dogs.

Last year I moved across town away from this vet after nearly twenty years and now with my fifth pet. Dogwood’s vets, techs, and reception staff have all gone out of their way for us over the years including emergencies, surgeries, and excellent end of life care for my four legged family. I tried a couple vets near me but none have stacked up to the great care and service we received at Dogwood. I just made an appointment and will be making the drive from across town because it’s worth it.

I have been here twice, my old vet Dr Hughes merged in with them.The staff seems very nice.They are very conscious of using the safest medications for animals.They take care to be as safe as they can regarding injection site sarcomas in cats.They need to explore the information about doing rabies vacations in the cats tail. This is being used now in case a sarcoma does occur and amputation is necessary for clean margins. If there are no negatives to a tail injection, they should be doing it.

Have brought our (my girlfriends, that is) Shihtzu girl here for a few years. Would say the care is for the most part fine. the physicals have been mostly thorough, with the exception of a few times when her ears and teeth were not checked....something we consider important. The doctors weve seen are friendly. Receptionists- a bit hit or miss on courtesy.About the only negative I would comment on, was their recommendation of a home groomer, Bow Wow Happy. The groom was easily the worst paid for from an aesthetic standpoint, but worse was seeing her shake for days after. After a good look over, we noticed two of her toe pads and the side of her face had been cut. And we werent informed about it. Its evident this person didnt know what they were doing, or hadnt been doing it long. This clinic really needs to exercise some caution when recommending pet related services to their customers.

Weve been going here for years. I love their Peace of Mind annual exam fee. Theyve been there for us with all 4 Bernese and the practice just gets better over time.

I went here for the first time today for a pair of rescues that I had just gotten a few days prior. The staff were really very nice and Dr. Klau, I felt, was very personable and professional and I didnt feel rushed at all. I didnt feel like they tried to sell me on anything as well. Overall, I found it to be a pleasant experience and will continue to take my beloved dogs there.

I had heard of this place for many years and for some crazy reason always took my pets to other places. I found myself back in the area for 3 weeks on a trip with my schnauzer that overdosed on rimadyl two weeks prior. Both doctors we saw were very thorough and caring and got records from my current vet in California to assess the whole situation. Everyone here goes out of their way to greet you warmly and go above what is expected. The doctor researched a special diet for me and printed it out with notes and one of the staff printed my application paperwork for a special pet nutritionist out of California I was interested in. I was so impressed withe the extra mile service and wish I had tried them many years ago. Their prices are extremely reasonable and the care is second to none. I am so grateful for the quality of service and genuine love they have for animals. Best!

Dogwood Pet Hospital is simply amazing. Ive NEVER had one bad experience with either Dr Klau or Dr Hawkins. The entire staff for that matter is incredible. The moment you walk in you know youre in good hands.My english bulldog, Charlie, recently had emergency surgery that had to be performed at a different hospital due to the timing of the incident. Dr Klau found out about his surgery and immediately called me to make sure that everything was okay. He was genuinely concerned and it was so thoughtful for him to call . He made sure that I knew he was available if we needed anything at all. It was awesome. Since the surgery hes called to see how Charlie is recovering and I cant tell you how awesome that makes us feel.Everyone at Dogwood, and I mean everyone, is incredible and I would recommend them to anybody. Youre in great hands at this place.
