I spoke with Brian who explained his services prior to coming to my home in Greenwich rather detailed which was appreciated. He told me he owned a few inspection companies ranging from mold assessment, rodent assessment, and a home inspection company. I chose to have him do a dual inspection which was to determine if I had a major rodent problem and to do testing for mold as I figured I had both. When Brian got here he immediately went to work spending time looking at many areas of my home with a very bright flashlight and some thermal imager which showed things that one could not see with your eyes. Like moisture and heat. He quickly determined that there was mold in the attic, mold in two bedrooms and the basement but what was more interesting was the fact that he picked up that we had a pretty good sized gas leak from our heating unit which was alarming. He used a device that showed us it was leaking and then used a bubble solution which proved the device to be correct. We called the gas company immediately and they were out in 30 minutes and said we were very lucky that this was found. The unit was installed less than a week before so when Brian had told me it was leaking I was unsure at first but it was proven without a doubt. We are thankful that we had these inspections and while we could’ve spent much less money on an inspector as we spoke to several prior to hiring Brian we do feel that his thoroughness and simple instinct which is truly amazing was the difference and we highly recommend him. We hired Brian initially to seal our house due to unwanted rodents finding their way into our furnace room and unfinished areas of our basement. When he initially came to do the house inspection to see what he would need to do, the thoroughness and detail was second to none. He found so many issues that we never knew about and really opened my eyes to all of the things we needed to get fixed even outside of the sealing. He found mold, moisture issues, duct issues, and even a gas leak that none of my other service providers ever bothered to check or inspect. I wish I used him to inspect our house before purchasing it! The job was done very well and Brian and his team were extremely thorough and took the time to answer any questions I had. They sealed every square inch of the house from foundation to the roof to ensure no rodents could get in through any opening whatsoever. So far we haven’t had any rodents since the whole house seal was done and we are working on fixing all of the other deficiencies that Brian pointed out. If you want a job done right with an excellent service provider give Brian a call, I can’t recommend him highly enough. I can honestly say he is the most knowledgeable and thorough service provider we have ever come across and are extremely happy he was able to help with our issues when nobody else could permanently solve the problem.

Thoroughspect helped make our home rodent free, and we are very happy with the results. Brian is incredibly knowledgeable and thorough regarding pest proofing but he is also a home expert and has great insights into how a home should be maintained and best practices. He and his team also installed new dehumidifiers in our basement and when one of the pumps was defective he quickly responded to change it out and make sure everything was perfect. In addition, his team helped with gutter and drainage work. Lastly, if there is a house maintenance or infrastructure issue Brian does not handle, he has a solid list of quality referrals. Brian is honest and forthright and values his relationships with his customers. We are very pleased!

We hired Thoroughspect to complete a rodent exclusion for our home. Prior to exclusion we used another typical pest control company that utilized poison. The prior approach was not effective and periodically led to the odor of dead rodents behind drywall. While the cost of exclusion initially seemed high relative to other methods, the value is off the charts since it is a one and done solution. Brian’s team spent a week completely sealing every inch of our home (all seams along foundation, siding joints, vents, etc) with high quality copper, galvanized steel and wood materials (no foam, which rodents will quickly penetrate). For the uninformed, exclusion may seem like a straightforward process, but it truly requires a professional with a critical eye for detail and a passion to completely seal every potential entry point. Within a week of exclusion all evidence of rodents completely disappeared. Our finished basement now smells fresh and clean and we finally have peace of mind that this issue is completely and finally put to bed. You owe it to yourself to speak with Brian and solve the problem.

We had mice and it appeared hopeless as we used 7 or 8 companies with no real success until we met Brian. Brian showed a level of knowledge that was different and fast forward 9 months or so and not a single rodent as there are snap traps in the attic, basement and crawl space we check often with great happiness they are not catching and we are not hearing them either.We didn’t want to admit we had rodents and now we don’t have to because we no longer have rodents!

I cannot say enough about Brian. I initially hired him to seal my home off from rodents as I am terrified of any critters. I feel completely safe from these nuisances now! While assessing our home for critters, Brian also notices some mold and other minor issues that needed to be rectified. I wish Brian was my neighbor so I could have him on call 24/7!!

Pretty awesome that all the years living with mice dying in our walls from the exterminators bait boxes stopped after this company spent a week at my home sealing it. They found so many small spaces where mice could get in and sealed them with copper mesh, and strong adhesives and you can’t even see what they did unless you know what to look for.No mice in 10 weeks is a first and I wish we found them sooner. Highly recommend if you don’t want to have rodents in your home.

I first met Brian about 4 years ago after moving into our Westchester home. We hired him to do an inspection of the home. The name of the company fits him because the inspection was in fact very thorough. We ended up hiring Brian and his team to do a complete house seal that took about 10 days as there was evidence in the house that there had been a rodent problem. The work they did was very impressive and the team was extremely professional. Four years later we are still rodent free! Nonetheless, I still have Brian come and inspect my home occasionally because he is one of the most knowledgeable, thorough, honest people I have ever met. From finding issues that could cause harm to my family (like mold in a corner) to simply pointing out that screws are missing from an electrical panel, he doesnt miss a thing. I cant recommend Brian and his team enough - they are simply the best. The service they have provided me over that last few years is above and beyond and I havent met a single home service provider that even comes close in quality of service. Just recently we had a flood in our basement. Actually, water was backing up from a clogged gutter and coming through our front door, into a window well and the basement. Brian S was our first call. He pinpointed the problem (bad positioning ofdownspouts, poor drainage around the house) and fixed everything within a week. The basement has been dry since, even after heavy downpours. And he installed a dehumidifier in our old damp basement which has worked wonders. It has even cured sinus headaches which my husband used to get during damp seasons. But I first met Brian S when we had just bought this house and found it had a massive mouse population. We had hired another highly rated company who had contracted, for a premium fee, to come and place and remove traps whenever we wanted them to, and also to come up with an exclusion plan. They did neither, even refusing to come to remove full traps more than once a month! The traps they set would be filled in a day! We were referred to Brian S and never looked back. He sealed our entire house from mice, rats and flying squirrels, which incidentally the other company missed completely! The work was expertly, quickly and cleanly done. They had to dig out our entire foundation and they tenderly removed every plant and then replanted them. In the course of his work Brian S also found many problems which our home inspector had missed. He either repaired those problems or recommended someone who could, and even his referrals were wonderful. Whenever anything goes wrong in this house (and believe me, with an antique house, there are always problems) I call Brian S. He is the best!

We love Thoroughspect!My husband and I really appreciate all the work that was done to get rid of the unwanted rodents in our home that Brian and Thoroughspect did. We had exterminators and another company try and seal our home but still kept getting mice regularly so I Googled and found this company. The initial charge for the inspection was affordable and with the information Brian provided us including a pretty bad gas leak ( I had no idea Brian does lots of different types of inspections) we knew we had a shot at living rodent free- his trademark.The work was done over a 6 day period and while it was more expensive than the other companies it was completely different in that it was approached with a system vs an ongoing service mentality.We have not had a rodent for almost 60 days and we are very happy.

This company did an incredible job removing bed bugs from three of our rooms. I found no bugs after the treatment.

This is the 5th home that I have bought in my life and the first time that I have used Brian. This was by far the most thorough and accurate home inspection that you could ever ask for. Brian will check everything possible and will give you the truth about what is wrong with the home, what could go wrong and what absolutely needs to be addressed. He spent over 6 hours inside and outside of the home. Its a scary proposition for the realtors. Obviously, they are incentivized to see the deal close so they dont want an inspector finding things that could jeopardize that, so be ready for some dirty looks. I ended up purchasing the home with full confidence that I knew what issues the house had and what other potential issues could come up. He also owns a house sealing business so he will know if your house has issues that critters could take advantage of. If you want to really know the ins and outs of the house you are purchasing then Brian is your man.

When Brian arrived to our home it was on time and ready to inspect to see why we were hearing noises in our attic. He showed us picture proof positive that we had a bat and flying squirrel issue and even took a thermal image of a bat hanging on the ridge of the attic. The part that bothered us is we already paid a good deal of money to 2 different companies to pest proof our home and neither turned out to be worth a penny as the pictures of the access points shown to us by Brian and Thoroughspect were truly shocking. We decided to engage his services and after what is now several months we have a motion camera in the attic and it has not gone off once since he did the eviction and sealing process. I can tell you that I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable about my home but Brian is a master at finding things that need to be fixed and most of what he showed us with picture proof positive he dose not repair or even recommended anyone out so he has nothing to gain except a loyal client who will now recommend his company out.Thanks ThoroughspectJM

An Amazing Bait & SwitchFrom the moment Brian stepped into our house, I knew he had more on his mind than just the exclusion process we signed up for. He spent about 2 hours going through the house to identify what rodent issues we had. I actually didnt tell him we had any issues outside of I heard some thumping in the attic (we had moved in 2 weeks prior). He took pictures and documented everything for us which took about a week to put together. That was just the initial inspection (Angies deal).In addition to the exclusion related items, Brian went well beyond his scope of services to basically do another home inspection for us, identifying over a dozen things our home inspector missed, including a mold issue! Now I cant say I was excited to learn of these new issues having just moved in, but Brian went out of his way to explain everything in detail and give me comfort it was all manageable. He saw I was somewhat handy, so he walked me through the things I could take care of myself, and recommended service providers for the bigger things. He even went as far as taking care of a few things for me during the seal process.The seal itself took a couple weeks (5,500 sq ft colonial), including trapping / clearing the house. We had bats, flying squirrels, and mice; quite the party we were having in our basement and attic. Since the seal, we havent had anything in the house even though Brian gladly responded to a couple false alarms over the winter.You might ask yourself why is this review titled bait and switch. I signed up for the Angies deal because Thoroughspect was rated well and frankly it was very reasonable cost-wise to find out what I had going on in the attic. The bait it is you think youre getting an exterminator, and the switch is you get Brian. Without sharing all the other details, he genuinely cares about you and your family and is really there to be a partner not just a service provider. Its not everyday youre comfortable giving the keys to your house over to a stranger and his crew for a couple weeks with wife and young kids at home. As Ive told Brian, Ive never been happier working with someone on a real estate related project. Furthermore, hes still happy to take a call or respond to an email months after completing service. Hes a wealth of knowledge and truly a great person, not just the next contractor looking to make a buck (although you should still plan on paying him as hes worth every dollar).

Great!We had trouble selling our home as we had all sorts of critters running around. We had a few pest control companies and a few wildlife exclusion companies come and check our home out to see why we had a zoo. We had a couple of people spend 10-20 min, 1 guy spend 35 minutes and was pretty good but was going to use foam in the can and copper mesh- no way!The only company to actually prove what we had with pictures and used construction grade materials with no poison or foam was brian at Thoroughspect. He spent 1.25 hours and knew his business.He was more expensive for the inspection ( totally get it now) and more on sealing but what this company did as far as sealing was incredible. I was off for the 5 days it took and saw a good deal and it was like someone turned off the rodent spigot- the mice and flying squirrels stopped in 8 days. Sold the house and the home inspector said he had never seen anything like it as there are traps in the attic and basement, and crawl space with zero activity. The guy even checked again when he picked up the radon and asked for the number so he could tell people as most suffer with rodents he said.Wish we found him when we were battling rodents for 9 years that’s for sure.

I would highly recommend Thoroughspect.  Brian and his crew completed three separate services in the beginning of 2015 for me - rodent exclusion (flying squirrel and mice), disinfecting and removal of mouse excrement, and dehumidification.  In each case, Thoroughspect was on time, professional and meticulous.  For the rodent exclusion: after being told by other vendors that a full exclusion was not possible for my 1920s half stone, half timber house, it was a relief to find a company that was willing to take the time and effort to do what others had said was impossible.  Always courteous, quiet and hardworking, the Thoroughspect crew spent nearly two weeks methodically filling in crevices between the stone and wood with copper mesh.  I had the same experience when it came to the cleaning of the excrement - the crew was meticulous and the end result was a disinfected basement.  Lastly, the dehumidification installation was quick and seamless.  Brian, in particular, goes the extra mile - he stands by his crews work and returns to reinspect for any new intrusions.  Importantly, he is honest, reliable and genuinely cares about his customers.

We had mice for 11 years and more than a few pest control companies along with 3 different companies that said they could seal our house, but we still had mice.My wife simply dislikes mice and I’m not fond of them either so when we read a review that said this company stopped the mice without using poison we started to do our research. We read more than 100 reviews that gave us some hope of stopping our mice and then called. My wife spoke to Brian who owns the company and decided to book an inspection.Brian spent some time at our home and a few days later sent us some pictures with annotations of what he saw as well as a quote. The quote was higher than the other companies but we were shown what materials would be used and realized that this is more of a home improvement company rather than a pest control service and decided to give it a go.I have waited almost 7 months to leave this review as I wanted to make sure what we were experiencing was real as far as no mice. Thoroughspect put out a lot of snap traps and I even put out a bunch myself and my wife and I are amazed we have not heard any noises, found any fecal, and nothing in the traps.We really wish we found Brian and Thoroughspect first as we wasted lots of time and money with other services and we lost a good deal of sleep as well.It’s not cheap but it works and we highly recommend sealing a house by Thoroughspect if you want it to end.

Trying too make this a short review but its hard as he did so much more than what we expected.Brian is a walking encyclopedia for houses nand he sent us pictures -we went fior the annotated pictures which was more expensive but oh my really worth it. If he does this type of inspection regularly he should have tons more reviews but he told me point blank that most people won’t tell people they had rodents. We had mice and flying squirrels three years ago and hired a company to seal the home and snaps trapm it out which cost up 4300 and that lasted less than 1 year with us still catching less but still catching which was the warranty and then the company would not call us back. We hired numerous pest control companies and that was the most frustrating type of service ever!Brian walked us through the process and it was pretty expensive but we had come close in cost with terrible success with us still catching a minimum of 9 mice a month and four flying squirrels.This is the first 34 days we have had zero flying squirrels and 1 mouse during the initial 2 weeks of heavy trapping and now zero. While we can deal with the occasional rodent we could not have it stay as it was.This guy and his company turned out to be the real deal

Brian is great! We moved into a home that had been neglected in many areas, and Brian helped me tackle some of our biggest issues. My daughter couldnt sleep at night due to scratching in the ceiling over her bed--it was traumatizing for her! Brian and his crew assessed our entire (challenging) house and took care of our rodent problem. He also addressed various moisture issues as well. He is knowledgeable on many issues, and seriously rescued us when our extermination company severely failed. He is a very nice, likable guy, too, and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend him highly!
